A Development of the Digital Switchboard for the High Voltage Customer (고압전자식 배전반 개발)

  • This paper describes the development of a digital multifunction controller for the protection, measurement and control of the high voltage customer switchboard. The magnitude of the fundamental component is estimated using a simple filter based on cross-correlation with a heptagonal wave. The characteristics of flexible relay functions such as adjustable pickup and time-dial settings, various time-magnitude curve and directional capability including measurement functions are presented. The controller implementation is carried out on two microprocessors for real time operation.

  • The reactive reserves of generators is close to voltage stability. This characteristic has led to the development of a few year monitoring the reactive reserves. In this paper, the reactive reserves have been calculated considering the generator capability curve. In addition, through dividing the systems using electric distance, the reactive reserves of each area has been calculated. Then, using the correlative relationship between reactive reserves and PV margins, the method for monitoring the voltage stability is proposed. The proposed method is tested on PSS/E test system and KEPCO system.

Monitoring of Forest Burnt Area using Multi-temporal Landsat TM and ETM+ Data

  • The usefulness of the multi-temporal satellite image to monitoring the vegetation recovery process after forest fire was tested. Using multi-temporal Landsat TM and ETM+data, NDVI and NBR changes over times were analyzed. Both NDVI and NBR values were rapidly decreased after the fire and gradually increased for all forest type and damage class. However, NBR curve showed much clearer tendency of vegetation recovery than NDVI. Both indices yielded the lowest values in severely damaged red pine forest. The results show the vegetation recovery process after forest fire can detect and monitor using multi-temporal Landsat image. NBR was proved to be useful to examine the recovering and development process of the vegetation after fire. In the not damaged forest, however the NDVI shows more potential capability to discriminate the forest types than NBR..

  • Mechanical responses and failure behaviors of advanced C/C composite tube are very important for structural component design in nuclear reactor. In this study, an experimental investigation was conducted to study mechanical properties of C/C composite tube. Quasi-static compression loading was applied to a type of advanced composite tube to determine the response of the quasi-static load displacement curve during progressive damage. Acoustic emissions (AE) signals were captured and analyzed to characterize the crack formation and crack development. In addition, the crack propagation of the specimens was monitored by imaging technique and failure mode of the specimen was analyzed. FEM is appled to simulate the stress distribution. Results show that advanced C/C composite tube exhibits considerable energy absorption capability and stability in load-carrying capacity.

  • Cyclone is one of the most widely used gas - solid separation devices in industries. In spite of its many advantages, lower separation efficiency and flat separation curve are usually associated with cyclones. Therefore, the primary goal of cyclone research is to improve its separation capability while retaining its basic features. In this study, granules were filled in the cone of a cyclone in an attempt to increase the cyclone separation efficiency through the combination of granular filtration and centrifugal separation. Optimization of Light Source Combination through the Illuminance and Color Temperature Simulation of Circadian Lighting Apparatus (감성조명용 조명기기의 조도 및 색온도 시뮬레이션을 통한 광원 조합의 최적화)

  • The aim of this study is to optimize the light source combination which can maximize the capability of the illuminance and color temperature of circadian lighting apparatus. To achieve this goal, the circadian lighting apparatus was consisted of two different types of fluorescent lamps having different color temperature of 2000K and 8000K, respectively, and the capability of the illuminance and color temperature of circadian lighting apparatus was evaluated by optical simulation as the number of the respective lamps were varied. Considering the Kruithof's curve and exceptional cases, the ranges of illuminance and color temperature for the living activities were reclassified in 4 groups - gathering, studying, relaxing and sleeping - so that the target range of illuminance and color temperature of lighting apparatus was settled. As a result, in the case of adopting two fixtures in which four 2000K lamps and five 8000K lamps were consisted, respectively to one fixture, the highest illuminance was expected at 4000K and over 500lx of illuminance was calculated between 3000K and 6000K. Through the optimized combination of light sources, the range of illuminance and color temperature were calculated as $44{\sim}750lx$ and $2500{\sim}6500K$, respectively.

  • Today, a number of CCTV on the highway is to observe the flow of traffics. There have been a number of studies where traffic data (e.g., the speed of vehicles and the amount of traffic on the road) are transferred back to the centralized server so that an appropriate action can be taken. This paper introduces a system that detects the changes of traffic flows caused by an accident or unexpected stopping (i.e., vehicle remains idle) by monitoring each lane separately. The traffic flows of each lane are level spacing curve that shows Wigner distribution for location vector. Applying calogero-moser system and Hamiltonian system, probability equation for each level-spacing curve is derived. The high level of modification of the signal means that the lane is in accident situation. This is different from previous studies in that it does more than looking for the signal from only one lane, now it is able to detect an accident in entire flow of traffic. In process of monitoring traffic flow of each lane, when camera recognizes a shadow of vehicle as a vehicle, it will affect the accident detecting capability. To prevent this from happening, the study introduces how to get rid of such shadow. The system using Basian network method is being compared for capability evaluation of the system of the study. As a result, the system of the study appeared to be better in performance in detecting the modification of traffic flow caused by idle vehicle.

Numerical Study on Seismic Performance Evaluation of Circular Reinforced Concrete Piers Confined by Steel Plate (강판으로 보강된 원형철근콘크리트교각의 내진성능 평가에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • This study quantitatively evaluated the performance improvement of a circular reinforced concrete pier under dynamic load with strengthening using a steel plate. Various three-dimensional elements were applied using the finite element program ABAQUS. The analytical parameters included the ratios of the steel cover length to the pier's total height and the ratios of the steel cover thickness to the pier diameter for inelastic-nonlinear analysis. The lower part of the pier had fixed boundary conditions, and lateral repetitive loads were applied at the top of the pier. The pier was investigated to evaluate the dynamic performance based on the load-displacement curve, stress-strain curve, ductility, energy absorption capability, and energy ratio. The yield and ultimate loads of piers with steel covers increased by 3.76 times, and the energy absorption capability increased by 4 times due to the confinement effects caused by the steel plate. A plastic hinge part of the column with a steel plate improved the ductility, and the thicker the steel plate was, the greater the energy absorption capacity. This study shows that the reinforced pier should be improved in terms of the seismic performance.

Adsorption of Amine and Sulfur Compounds by Iron Phthalocyanine Derivatives (철 프탈로시아닌 유도체에 의한 아민 및 황 화합물의 흡착)

  • The adsorption capability of iron phthalocyanine derivatives were investigated by means of X-ray diffractometor (XRD), IR (infrared) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and temperature programmed desorption (TPD). According to TPD results, iron phthalocyanine derivatives showed two desorption peaks at low temperature ($100{\sim}150^{\circ}C$) and high temperature ($350{\sim}400^{\circ}C$) indicating that there were two kinds of acidities. Tetracarboxylic iron phthalocyanine (Fe-TCPC) have a stronger desorption peak (chemical adsorption) at the high temperature and a weaker desorption peak (physical adsorption) at the low temperature than iron phthalocyanine (Fe-PC). The specific surface areas of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC were $26.46\;m^2/g\;and\;11.77\;m^2/g$, respectively. The pore volumes of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC were $0.14\;cm^3/g\;and\;0.06\;cm^3/g$, respectively. The adsorption capability of triethyl amine calculated by breakthrough curve at 220 ppm of equilibrium concentration was 29.2 mmoL/g for Fe-TCPC and 0.8 mmoL/g for Fe-PC. The removal efficiency of dimethyl sulfide of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC in batch experiment of 225 ppm of initial concentration were 44.9% and 28.9%, respectively. The removal efficiency of trimethyl amine of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC in batch experiment of 118 ppm of initial concentration were approximately 100.0% and 33.9%, respectively.

Improvement in efficiency on ID-based Delegation Network (ID 기반 위임 네트워크의 성능 개선방안)

  • Delegation of signing capability is a common practice in various applications. Mambo et al. proposed a proxy signatures as a solutions for delegation of signing capability. Proxy signatures allow a designated proxy signer to sign on behalf of an original signer. After the concept of proxy signature scheme is proposed, many variants are proposed to support more general delegation setting. To capture all possible delegation structures, the concept of delegation network was proposed by Aura. ID-based cryptography, which is suited for flexible environment, is desirable to construct a delegation network. Chow et al proposed an ID-based delegation network. In the computational point of view, their solution requires E pairing operations and N elliptic curve scalar multiplications where E and N are the number of edges and nodes in a delegation structure, respectively. In this paper, we proposed an efficient ID-based delegation network which requires only E pairing operations. Moreover, we can design a modified delegation network that requires only N pairing operations.
