  • Author name disambiguation is essential for improving performance of document indexing, retrieval, and web search. Author name disambiguation resolves the conflict when multiple authors share the same name label. This paper introduces a novel approach which exploits ontologies and WordNet-based category utility for author name disambiguation. Our method utilizes author knowledge in the form of populated ontology that uses various types of properties: titles, abstracts and co-authors of papers and authors' affiliation. Author ontology has been constructed in the artificial intelligence and semantic web areas semi-automatically using OWL API and heuristics. Author name disambiguation determines the correct author from various candidate authors in the populated author ontology. Candidate authors are evaluated using proposed WordNet-based category utility to resolve disambiguation. Category utility is a tradeoff between intra-class similarity and inter-class dissimilarity of author instances, where author instances are described in terms of attribute-value pairs. WordNet-based category utility has been proposed to exploit concept information in WordNet for semantic analysis for disambiguation. Experiments using the WordNet-based category utility increase the number of disambiguation by about 10% compared with that of category utility, and increase the overall amount of accuracy by around 98%.

  • The AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is not evaluated for spatial accuracy and temporal availability even if it is located within a building or a specific area that needed necessary to partition by spatial analysis and location allocation analysis. As a result of the analysis, the spatial analysis was performed using the existing public data of AED with applied the GIS location analysis method. A public institution (119 safety center, police box) was selected as a candidate for a public AED base that can operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year according to the characteristics of each residential area. In addition, Thiessen Polygons were created for each candidate site and divided by regions. In the analysis of the service was analyzed regional in terms of accessibility to emergency medical services in consideration of the characteristics of AED, that emergency vehicles could arrive within 4 minutes of the time required for emergency medical treatment in most areas of the study area, but it did not areas outside of the city center. As a result, It was found that the operation of the AED base service center centered on vehicles of public institutions is effective for responding to AED patients at night and weekend hours. 19 Safety Center under and police box the jurisdiction of Daegu City to establish an AED service center for public institutions, location-based distance, attribute analysis, and minimization of overlapping areas that the method of using a vehicle appeared more efficient than using the existing walking type AED.

  • Riverbank filtration for water supply has been employed for about 150 years in developed countries. In Korea, the feasibility of riverbank filtration has been investigated since 1990's for large river basins, to find a solution to stably meet the ever-increasing demand for water. Recently, some cites in the Nak-dong River Basin have been supplying the water through riverbank filtration. This research studies the feasibility of riverbank filtration in Seoul. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which selects the most optimal alternative by hierarchically classifying various attributes and then quantifying the importance of each attribute, was applied to candidate locations for the selection of riverbank filtration site. The Kwangnaru district, which has advantages in water quality and close connectivity to the existing water purification facility, was selected as the most optimal site.

  • We conducted an analysis of a selected region from the FCRAO $^{12}CO$ Outer Galaxy Survey. The selected region is located between galactic longitude $117^{\circ}$ and $124^{\circ}$ with the velocity of -23 km $s^{-1}. Molecular clouds in this region show a peculiar velocity field, protruding from the Local Arm population. The selected region is divided into 7 clouds by spatial location. Though we were not able to identify the direct driving source for peculiar velocity of our target region, we find that there are several internal YSOs or star forming activities; there are many associated sources like an outflows, a high-mass protostellar candidate and $H_2O$ maser sources. We attribute the driving energy source to older generation of episodic star formation. Masses of main clouds(cloud 1-4) estimated using a conversion factor from $^{12}CO$ luminosity are larger than $10^4M_{\odot}$. Other components have a small mass as about $10^3M_{\odot}$. Among main clouds, cloud 2 and 4 seem to be marginally gravitational bound systems as their ratio of $M_{CO}$ to $M_{VIR}$ is about $2{\sim}3$, and the internal velocity dispersion is larger than the centroid velocity dispersion. Total mass estimated using a conversion factor from $^{12}CO$ luminosity is $7.9{\times}10^4M_{\odot}$.

  • In current video-conferencing systems. user's face movements are restricted by fixed camera, therefore it is inconvenient to users. To solve this problem, tracking of face movements is needed. Tracking using whole face needs much computing time and whole face is difficult to define as an one feature. Thus, using several feature points in face is more desirable to track face movements efficiently. This paper addresses an effective eye location algorithm which is essential process of automatic human face tracking system for natural video-conferencing. The location of eye is very important information for face tracking, as eye has most clear and simplest attribute in face. The proposed algorithm is applied to candidate face regions from the face region extraction. It is not sensitive to lighting conditions and has no restriction on face size and face with glasses. The proposed algorithm shows very encouraging results from experiments on video-conferencing environments.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how political interest, political ideologies, and information-searching goals influence the amount of information voters search, the ways in which people search for information about political candidates, and the type of information they select. The results showed that the participants under accuracy goal searched much more information and the participants under the high level of interest were not affected by conservative ideology, but the participants with the low level of interest were influenced by the liberal ideology and viewed substantially more information. And most of participants had the attribute-centered searching pattern. The social policies were accessed most, however, the information about party and personal background of a candidate were found least.

  • This paper presents a methodology to extract classes and inheritance relations from procedural software. The methodology is based on the idea of generating all groups of class candidates, based on the combinatorial groups of object candidates, and their inheritance with all possible combinations and selecting a group of object candidates, and their inheritance with all possible combinations and selecting a group with the best or optimal combination of candidates with respect to the degree of relativity and similarity between class candidates in the group and classes in a domain model. The methodology has innovative features in class candidates in the group and classes in a domain model. The methodology has innovative features in class and inheritance extraction: a clustering method based on both static (attribute) and dynamic (method) clustering, the combinatorial cases of grouping class candidate cases based on abstraction, a signature similarity measurement for inheritance relations among n class candidates or m classes, two-dimensional similarity measurement for inheritance relations among n class candidates or m classes, two-dimensional similarity measurement, that is, the horizontal measurement for overall group similarity between n class candidates and m classes, and the vertical measurement for specific similarity between a set of classes in a group of class candidates and a set of classes with the same class hierarchy in a domain model, etc. This methodology provides reengineering experts with a comprehensive and integrated environment to select the best or optimal group of class candidates.
