유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크 기반에서의 zigbee를 이용한 u-캠퍼스 설계(유한대학 사례연구) (Design of u-Campus Using zigbee based on USN(Case Study of Yuhan College))

  • 현재 무선통신의 효용성이 증가되면서 다양한 분야에서 유선과 무선을 통합한 형태의 연결망으로 구축된 유비쿼터스 환경이 발전되고 있다. 이러한 네트워크 환경에서 각 대학은 유비쿼터스 센서네트워크를 기반으로 한 u-캠퍼스 구축이 활발하게 발전하고 있다. u-캠퍼스는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 기술과 무선 네트워크기술을 대학의 캠퍼스에 접목시켜 구축한 형태의 새로운 캠퍼스이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 u-캠퍼스 기반에서의 zigbee 기술을 이용한 전문대학의 특성에 적합한 u-캠퍼스를 설계하였다. zigbee 무선 통신기술을 적용한 u-캠퍼스 서비스는 zigbee 네트워크를 이용한 편리한 서비스를 구성원에게 제공한다.

Reliability-aware service chaining mapping in NFV-enabled networks

  • Network function virtualization can significantly improve the flexibility and effectiveness of network appliances via a mapping process called service function chaining. However, the failure of any single virtualized network function causes the breakdown of the entire chain, which results in resource wastage, delays, and significant data loss. Redundancy can be used to protect network appliances; however, when failures occur, it may significantly degrade network efficiency. In addition, it is difficult to efficiently map the primary and backups to optimize the management cost and service reliability without violating the capacity, delay, and reliability constraints, which is referred to as the reliability-aware service chaining mapping problem. In this paper, a mixed integer linear programming formulation is provided to address this problem along with a novel online algorithm that adopts the joint protection redundancy model and novel backup selection scheme. The results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the request acceptance ratio and reduce the consumption of physical resources compared to existing backup algorithms.

Symbiotic Framework for Campus Core and Modern Expansion A Case Study of Princeton University Campus, Princeton USA

  • Campus core is an essential element in a university's physical environment for symbolic importance of high educational philosophy as well as hierarchical significance of campus structure. Yet, as modern expansion develops into and out of campus core, a challenging design and planning problem for a growing university is how to integrate a new development into the existing core structure and how to expand the fast-growing development beyond the core while maintaining a symbiotic harmony between the campus core and the modern expansion. Such challenge addresses four design frameworks for symbiotic development of the campus core and the modern expansion: (1) building grouping with territorial proximity; (2) building design rules for form and texture; (3) open space network with pedestrian walkway; (4) use-programming for on-campus student community. This study aims to explore these issues with in-depth case study of the Princeton University campus in Princeton, New Jersey in the United States. The study concludes that the Princeton campus is a result from successful synthesis of all the complex design elements, especially in relationship between the old and the new; and adds further that the development of a modern university campus requires a comprehensive plan that takes into account the older buildings when conceiving the new in symbiotic relationship along with open space network as well as functional program distribution.

캠퍼스 기가비트 네트워크 성능분석 (Performance Analysis of Gigabit Network in Campus)

  • 본 논문에서는 캠퍼스 내의 네트워크 사용이 원활하게 이루어지는지를 분석하기 위하여 네트워크 성능분석을 해 보았다. 캠퍼스 내부의 네트워크 백본은 기가비트 이더넷으로 구성되어 있으며, 네트워크 평균이용율이 1%이내이고 최대이용율도 10%정도이다. 또한 현재 캠퍼스내의 외부망으로의 회선 이용율은 평균 30.4%이고 최대 38.3%로 네트워크 유통량은 아직은 충분한 여유가 있다. 그러나 보안상의 문제가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 캠퍼스 전체 네트워크에 대한 방화벽을 하나 더 설치하면 교내 클라이언트들까지도 보호할 수 있어 더욱 더 안전한 캠퍼스 내부 네트워크를 구성할 수 있을 것이다.

SDN-Based Enterprise and Campus Networks: A Case of VLAN Management

  • The Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) has been used for a long time in campus and enterprise networks as the most popular network virtualization solution. Due to the benefits and advantages achieved by using VLAN, network operators and administrators have been using it for constructing their networks up until now and have even extended it to manage the networking in a cloud computing system. However, their configuration is a complex, tedious, time-consuming, and error-prone process. Since Software Defined Networking (SDN) features the centralized network management and network programmability, it is a promising solution for handling the aforementioned challenges in VLAN management. In this paper, we first introduce a new architecture for campus and enterprise networks by leveraging SDN and OpenFlow. Next, we have designed and implemented an application for easily managing and flexibly troubleshooting the VLANs in this architecture. This application supports both static VLAN and dynamic VLAN configurations. In addition, we discuss the hybrid-mode operation where the packet processing is involved by both the OpenFlow control plane and the traditional control plane. By deploying a real test-bed prototype, we illustrate how our system works and then evaluate the network latency in dynamic VLAN operation.

  • In the ubiquitous which is rapidly developing with ultra speed thes days, constructing the u-Campus which is using the sensor-network as its base is keep developing. Also, any information related equipments like PC and mobile, computing is possible whenever and wherever you want and due to the development of the wireless network, the service environment is continually developing. In this article, I'd like to suggest the u-Campus which is very suitable to the user's environment which had used application of mobile. In u-Campus, various techniques are adopted and applied along with development of info-communication related technidques. Especially, the new type of campus which is constructed by adopting the ubiquitous computing net-work technique to the campus of university is the u-Campus. In this article, by suggesting u-Yuhan designing methods, more effective and advanced school activities of students to make possible.

  • In this paper, we discuss the CPU Utilization and bottle neck of the router on campus network. Generally, high CPU utilization does not only makes slow network speed but also frequently network disconnection. The above characteristic is based on the network with one router. In order to solve this problem, we reconstruct network configuration with two routers. Our result shows that CPU utilization of network topology with two router have good performance compared to that with one.

Security Awareness among Students in Campus Environment: Case Study

  • In this era of globalization without limitation, many security issues occur, especially in a public network. Internet users significantly increased every single day. However, only some users are aware of security issues when they use Internet services. For the campus network environment, both staffs and students are susceptible to security threats such as data theft, unauthorized access and more due to different levels of awareness towards security threats. This paper is to study the level of awareness among students on security issues based on KSA model. As a case study, the survey was distributed among students in the UTeM campus network. A quantitative study was conducted, and a structured questionnaire has been designed and distributed among students. The variables were focused on three (3) aspects, which are Knowledge, Skill and Ability (KSA). The finding shows the relationship between KSA with the level of awareness among students has been revealed. From the result, Knowledge is the most significant aspect that contributes to high awareness. For the future, a study about increasing students' knowledge about security issues should be addressed.

  • In this work, a VN-based IPTV service delivery network containing a novel VNT was designed, This VN-based IPTV service delivery network utilizes current resources that can be easily obtained by IPTV providers and organizes these resources in a more efficient manner, We also developed a three-stage VN allocation scheme to reduce the complexity of topology design and allocation.
