  • Rotating-compensator type ellipsometer was developed for spectroscopic measurements. For accurate data reduction, the azimuths of transmission axises of polarizer and analyzer, and the angular position of the fast axis of compensator should be determined through calibration process.   • In the communication channel, the received signal is affected by many factors that can cause errors. These effects mean that received signal strength (RSS) based methods incur more errors in measuring distance and consequently result in low precision in the location detection process. As one of the approaches to overcome these problems, we propose using direction calibration to improve the performance of the RSS-based method for distance measurement, and sequentially a weighted least squares (WLS) method using reliability factors in conjunction with a conventional RSS weighting matrix is proposed to solve an over-determined localization process. The proposed scheme focuses on the features of the RSS method to improve the performance, and these effects are proved by the simulation results.

  • Using inference models developed for estimation of the parameters necessary to implement the Runoff Block of the Stormwater Management Model (SWMM), a number of alternative inference scenarios were developed to assess the influence of inference model complexity and structure on the calibration of the catchment modelling system. These inference models varied from the assumption of a spatially invariant value (catchment average) to spatially variable with each subcatchment having its own unique values. Fur-thermore, the influence of different measures of deviation between the recorded information and simulation predictions were considered. The results of these investigations indicate that the model performance is more influenced by model structure than complexity, and control parameter values are very much dependent on objective function selected as this factor was the most influential for both the initial estimates and the final results.

TRANSIMS의 단속류 네트워크 적용 가능성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Applicability of TRANSIMS to Interrupted Traffic Flow at Road Segments in Urban Area)

  • 본 연구에서는 대구광역시의 달구벌대로의 일부 단로부를 대상으로 신호교차로에서의 차두시간 특성과 교통량, 속도 및 통행시간 특성에 대한 관측 자료를 기반으로 시뮬레이션을 위한 calibration과 검증과정을 통해 TRANSIMS의 단속류에서의 적용 가능성을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히, 차두시간의 특성과 우리 실정에 맞는 파라미터의 선정 및 ID 추적 등을 통해 Calibration 과정을 거쳤으며 이렇게 수정된 파라미터를 기반으로 구현된 가로구간의 차로별 교통량, 속도 및 구간 통행시간 등의 특성은 무난하게 우리 실정에 맞게 묘사할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 셀의 크기에 따른 교통류 특성 분석에서 기존 연구의 성과를 뒷받침 할 수 있는 결과도 얻을 수 있었다. 그러나 본 연구에서 대상으로 일부 구간만으로 TRANSIMS의 국내 적용가능성을 단정하기에는 무리가 있으며, 다양한 차로 특성, 신호 특성 및 연도 토지이용 특성 등을 고려한 시뮬레이션을 통해 객관적인 분석과 파라미터의 Calibration 과정 및 검증에 대한 향후 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

A New Calibration Method Based on the Recursive Linear Regression with Variables Selection

  • We propose a new calibration method, which uses the linearization method for spectral responses and the repetitive adoptions of the linearization weight matrices to construct a frature. Weight matrices are estimated through multiple linear regression (or principal component regression or partial least squares) with forward variable selection. The proposed method is applied to three data sets. The first is FTIR spectral data set for FeO content from sinter process and the second is NIR spectra from trans-alkylation process having two constituent variables. The third is NIR spectra of crude oil with three physical property variables. To see the calibration performance, we compare the new method with the PLS. It is found that the new method gives a little better performance than the PLS and the calibration result is stable in spite of the collinearity among each selected spectral responses. Furthermore, doing the repetitive adoptions of linearization matrices in the proposed methods, uninformative variables are disregarded. That is, the new methods include the effect of variables subset selection, simultaneously.

픽셀단위 자동보상회로가 적용된 용량형 지문센서의 CMOS구현 (CMOS Integrated Capacitive Fingerprint Sensor with Pixel-level Auto Calibration Circuit)

  • 본 논문에서는 지문센서의 주변환경 변화에 따른 획득 이미지의 왜곡을 보상하기 위한 픽셀 수준의 자동보상회로를 설계하고 $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS공정을 적용하여 칩으로 구현하였다. 적용된 센서는 $48\times48$ 픽셀의 용량형 센서로서 센서의 출력 전압과 기준 전압을 비교하여 이진의 영상을 출력하게 된다. 기준전압을 제어하여 왜곡된 이미지를 보상하기 위한 알고리즘을 제안하였으며 기준전압제어를 위하여 기존의 DAC와 같은 복잡한 회로 대신 비휘발성 메모리에 적용되는 승압회로를 픽셀별로 적용하였다. 본 논문에서는 승압회로에 의한 이미지보상효과를 얻을 수 있었으며 아울러 16단계의 회색 이미지를 얻음으로써 지문의 인증율을 높일 수 있었다.

  • Recently, research on bolometer-type uncooled infrared image sensor which is made for industrial applications has been increasing. In general, it is difficult to calibrate fixed pattern noise (FPN) of bolometer array. In this paper, average-current calibration algorithm is presented for reducing bolometer resistance offset. A resistor which is produced by standard CMOS process, on the average, has a deviation. We compensate for deviation of each resistor using average-current calibration algorithm. The proposed algorithm has been implemented by a chip which is consisted of a bolometer pixel array, average current generators, current-to-voltage converters (IVCs), a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). These bolometer-resistor array and readout circuit were designed and manufactured by $0.35{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process.

  • The KOMPSAT-2 satellite is a push-broom system with MSC (Multi Spectral Camera) which contains a panchromatic band and four multi-spectral bands covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm. The PAN band is composed of six CCD array with 2528 pixels. And the MS band has one CCD array with 3792 pixels. Raw imagery generated from a push-broom sensor contains vertical streaks caused by variability in detector response, variability in lens falloff, pixel area, output amplifiers and especially electrical gain and offset. Relative radiometric calibration is necessary to account for the detector-to-detector non-uniformity in this raw imagery. Non-uniformity correction (NUC) is that the process of performing on-board relative correction of gain and offset for each pixel to improve data compressibility and to reduce banding and streaking from aggregation or re-sampling in the imagery. A relative gain and offset are calculated for each detector using scenes from uniform target area such as a large desert, forest, sea. In the NUC of KOMPSAT-2, The NUC table for each pixel are divided as HF NUC (high frequency NUC) and LF NUC (low frequency NUC) to apply to few restricted facts in the operating system ofKOMPSAT-2. This work presents the algorithm and process of NUC table generation and shows the imagery to compare with and without calibration.

  • 항체가 정밀한 항법 정보를 얻기 위해서는 관성 센서의 초기 오차에 대한 보정이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 레이트 테이블과 고성능 센서를 기준 센서로 사용하여, 저급 MEMS 관성 센서 오차 보정에 따르는 비용과 효율성의 어려움을 극복하는 방법을 제안하였다. 초기 오차 보정 과정에서 기준 센서와 타겟 센서에 같은 동적 입력을 인가한 후 결과를 분석하였다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안된 초기 오차 보정 방법이 실제로 매우 효율적이며 유용함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Scientists at the International Space Station have been studying space life sciences to prepare for future manned space explorations, and require experimental specimen such as rodents for mass measurement. However, it is challenging to use mass measurement systems in space owing to the errors caused by factors such as mechanical-electronic noise. Therefore, to minimize the measurement errors, we propose a new algorithm called multiple calibration, which divides the mass range and calculates the sample weight by using the correction equation of each interval. We performed tests to evaluate and compare the performance of the proposed method to that of normal methods. As a result, the measurement accuracy improved by over two times using the multiple calibration method. Furthermore, we conducted mass measurements on various samples and confirmed that our method is valid for mass measurements.
