In general, camera calibration has to be gone ahead necessarily to estimate a position and an orientation of the object exactly using a camera. Autonomous land system in order to run a vehicle autonomously needs a camera calibration method appling a camera and various road environment. Camera calibration is to prescribe the confrontation relation between third dimension space and the image plane. It means to find camera calibration parameters. Camera calibration parameters using the paved road and the unpaved road are estimated. The proposed algorithm has been detected through the image processing after obtaining the paved road and the unpaved road. There is able to detect easily edges because the road lanes exist in the raved road. Image processing method is two. One is a method on the paved road. Image is segmentalized using open, dilation, and erosion. The other is a method on the unpaved road. Edges are detected using blur and sharpening. So it has been made use of Hough transformation in order to detect the correct straight line because it has less error than least-square method. In addition to, this thesis has been used vanishing point' principle. an algorithm suggests camera calibration method using Hough transformation and vanishing point. When the algorithm was applied, the result of focal length was about 10.7[mm] and RMS errors of rotation were 0.10913 and 0.11476 ranges. these have the stabilized ranges comparatively. This shows that this algorithm can be applied to camera calibration on the raved and unpaved road.

In this paper, we propose a new camera calibration method which is based on a fuzzy model instead of a physical camera model of the conventional method. The camera calibration is to determine the correlation between camera image coordinate and real world coordinate. The camera calibration method using a fuzzy model can not estimate camera physical parameters which can be obtained in the conventional methods. However, the proposed method is very simple and efficient because it can determine the correlation between camera image coordinate and real world coordinate without any restriction, which is the objective of camera calibration. With calibration points acquired out of experiments, 3-D real world coordinate and 2-D image coordinate are estimated using the fuzzy modeling method and the results of the experiments demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.
The objective of camera calibration is to obtain the correlation between camera image coordinate and 3-D real world coordinate. Most calibration methods are based on the camera model which consists of physical parameters of the camera like position, orientation, focal length, etc and in this case camera calibration means the process of computing those parameters. In this research, we suggest a new approach which must be very efficient because the artificial neural network(ANN) model implicitly contains all the physical parameters, some of which are very difficult to be estimated by the existing calibration methods. Implicit camera calibration which means the process of calibrating a camera without explicitly computing its physical parameters can be used for both 3-D measurement and generation of image coordinates. As training each calibration points having different height, we can find the perspective projection point. The point can be used for reconstruction 3-D real world coordinate having arbitrary height and image coordinate of arbitrary 3-D real world coordinate. Experimental comparison of our method with well-known Tsai's 2 stage method is made to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
The ocean Scanning Multi-spectral Imager (OSMI) is a payload on the KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite (KOMPSAT) to perform worldwide ocean color monitoring f the study of biological oceanography. OSMI performs solar and dark calibrations for on-orbit instrument calibration. The purpose of the solar calibration is to monitor the degradation of imaging performance for each pixel of 6 spectral bands and to correct the degradation effect on OSMI image during the ground station date processing. The design, the operation concept, and the radiometric characteristics of the solar calibration are investigated. A linear model of image response and a solar calibration radiance model are proposed to study the instrument characteristics using the solar calibration data. The performance of spectral responsivity and spatial response uniformity. The first solar calibration data and the analysis results are important references for further study on the on-orbit stability of OSMI response during its lifetime.
In general, camera calibration is consisted of Indoor and Outdoor system. In case of Indoor system, it was optimized experimental condition. However, Outdoor system is different camera parameters for each image that is compared to equaled position. That is, it imply that camera parameters are varied by an environment with light or impulse noise, etc. So we make use of Image sequence because that they provide the more information for each image. In addition to, we use Corresponding line because it has less error than Corresponding point. Corresponding line has also the more information. In this paper, we suggest on-line camera calibration method using the time-varying Image sequence and Corresponding line. So we calculate camera parameters with intrinsic and extrinsic parameters in On-line system.

The goal of image calibration is to find a relation between image and world coordinates. Conventional image calibration uses physical camera model that is able to reflect camera's optical properties between image and world coordinates. In this paper, we try to calibrate images distortion using performance criterion-based polynomial model which assumes that the relation between image and world coordinates can be identified by polynomial equation and its order and parameters are able to be estimated with image and object coordinate values and performance criterion. In order to overcome existing limitations of the conventional image calibration model, namely, over-fitting feature, the performance criterion-based polynomial model is proposed. The efficiency of proposed method can be verified with 2D images that were taken by laser scan camera.

This paper presents a camera calibration method using several images for three dimensional measurement applications such as stereo systems, mobile robots, and visual inspection systems in factories. Conventional calibration methods that use single image suffer from errors related to reference point extraction in image, lens distortion, and numerical analysis of nonlinear optimization. The camera parameter values obtained from images of same camera is not same even though we use same calibration method. The camera parameters that are obtained from several images of different view for a calibration target is usaully not same with large error values and we can not assume a special probabilistic distribution when we estimate the parameter values. In this paper, the median value of camera parameters from several images is used to improve estimation of the camera values in an iterative step with nonlinear optimization. The proposed method is proved by experiments using real images.
The purpose of this study was to design the method of 3D space calibration to reduce RMSE by statistical analysis when using the DLT algorithm and control frame. Control frame for 3D space calibration was consist of $1{\times}3{\times}2m$ and 162 contort points adhere to it. For calculate of 3D coordination used two methods about 2D coordination on image frame, 2D coordinate on each image frame and mean coordination. The methods of statistical analysis used one-way ANOVA and T-test. Significant level was ${\alpha}=.05$. The compose of methods for reduce RMSE were as follow. 1. Use the control frame composed of 24-44 control points arranged equally. 2. When photographing, locate control frame to center of image plane(image frame) o. use the lens of a few distortion. 3. When calculate of 3D coordination, use mean of 2D coordinate obtainable from all image frames.
The present paper studies how to calibrate hydrometer using image process. The method aligns particular scales of hydrometer selected for calibrating the hydrometer with the horizontal plane of the reference liquid automatically without man's operation. Major parts composing the system are CCD camera, frame grabber, stepping motor and image process program. The image process program is composed of a part that locates the meniscus and aligns it with a scale and a part that controls the step motor. To verify the performance of the developed method, this study compares the meniscus and scale observed directly with the naked eye with the result of calibration by the manual calibration method. The differences between the corrections were less than $0.004\;kg/m^3$ with uncertainty of $0.06\;kg/m^3$. These showed that the calibration results of the developed hydrometer calibration using image process nearly equal to manual method.
A new non-contact method of the frost thickness measurement has been developed. The method is based on the digital image processing technique to identify the reflection edge of the image captured by a CCD camera under laser sheet light illumination. To insure the accuracy of frost layer thickness, an in-situ calibration procedure is carried out with a calibration target with 0.5mm holes. Using the mapping function obtained by the calibration procedure, the contour of frost surface can be estimated with sub-pixel resolutions. The developed method is applied to study the effect of cooling plate temperature on the frost thickness in a small low speed wind tunnel.
