  • Construction of the stable monolayer of endothelial cells onto physicochemically modified polymeric surFace is one of the appropriate method to develop the small caliber vascular graft with the long-term patency. In this study, we constructed the monolayer of endothelial cells on the fibronectin rind the extracellular matrix-coated polyurethane surface derived from human fibroblast cells. To elucidate the adhesion strength of endothelial cells on the extracellular matrix-coated polyurethane, a laminar flow chamber apparatus was developed to exposure the shear stress on the apical membrane of ondothelial cells. Endothelial cells show the strongest adhesion after two days of seeding onto the fibronectin-coated polyurethane surface, whereas endothelial cells on the extracellular matrix derived from the human flbroblast cells show the minimal doubling time of cellular growth.

  • For evaluating a large caliber ammunition tests, indoor ballistic test range is required to reduce the noise and fragments occurring during the test. To ensure the reliability of the indoor ballistics test range design, we carried out the analysis of the indoor test range using the AUTODYNE hydrodynamic code before its construction. The 120 mm tank ammunition is adopted as a reference model and we analysed the characteristics of the pressure distribution at fire area, the structure design at impact area, the over-pressure applied to the tunnel, and the sabot stopper design. The results of the analysis were applied to the design of the indoor ballistic test range.

  • Blasting technology aims to maximize digging efficiency as well as minimize vibration and noise. So, it is key point of blasting technology to raise blasting effect as much as possible and reduce vibration and noise and the design of PLHBM that is the tunnel blasting method having such merit was studied in this paper. PLHBM has the excellent blasting efficiency as it drills the empty hole with high caliber of 250~1,000mm at centre cut, contributes to blasting vibration reduction effect much and can be usefully applied to tunnel blasting sites. So it is judged that it enables the development of tunnel blasting method to be advanced one more step by studying and suggesting the design method of PLHBM.

  • As the polyethylene of high strength and ductility stabilized chemically has been mass-produced, it is spreading widely as material of industrial piping and water service piping. Recently, High density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe has been used even in water supply system of plant as buried pipe instead of cast iron pipe in domestic, but HDPE pipe has a probability of occurrence of damage if plant design and operating conditions are not considered. As a result of reviewing with respect of system design engineering based on operating conditions and verification test results, the specific design criteria for the use of HDPE piping in fire water supply system need to be established because of the possibility of crack damage due to water hammer.

  • One of the causes of recent construction site collapses was that the compressive strength of concrete was less than half of the allowable design standard strength range. In the safety diagnosis of structures, the compressive strength of concrete is a factor that determines the durability of a building. Therefore, in this study, we aim to examine the characteristics of compressive strength according to the particle size distribution of coarse aggregate among the compressive strength factors using small-diameter cores. To avoid problems when collecting cores, core specimens with diameters of 100×200, 50×100, and 25×50 (mm) were manufactured directly. As a result of measuring the compressive strength of concrete for each diameter, the larger the core diameter, the higher the compressive strength. has increased.

  • Purpose: The primary objectives of this research are: (1) To examine the current situation of employee welfare in diverse workplace settings. (2) To explore and identify the different challenges that affect employees' overall well-being. (3) To examine and establish the importance of consultation as a strategic tool in addressing these challenges and enhancing employee welfare. Research design, data and methodology: The first step of the research design is the identification of databases, search terms, and filters. A thorough search will be conducted across respectable academic databases, journals, and pertinent sources using keywords and controlled vocabulary about consultation, employee welfare, and related concepts. The next step is full-text assessment, which verifies compliance with the research question and assesses the caliber of the methodology. Results: According to the previous evidence, the significant benefits of effective consultation for employee welfare have been highlighted: 1. positive impact on productivity in the workplace, 2. Effective consultation Improves employee's engagement, 3. Effective consultation Increases employee retention, and 4. Effective consultation facilitates trust in a corporate communication. Conclusions: The study has identified four main advantages: enhanced productivity, enhanced engagement, increased retention, and enhanced trustbuilding. These findings provide insightful information for practitioners looking to foster positive workplace cultures and improve organizational success.

  • Investigations of the commercial aircraft impact effect on nuclear island infrastructures have been drawing extensive attention, and this paper aims to perform the safety assessment of Generation III nuclear power plant (NPP) buildings subjected to typical commercial aircrafts crash. At present Part III, the local damage of the rigid components of aircraft, e.g., engine and landing gear, impacting the steel concrete (SC) structures of NPP containment is mainly discussed. Two typical SC target panels with the thicknesses of 40 mm and 100 mm, as well as the steel cylindrical projectile with a mass of 2.15 kg and a diameter of 80 mm are fabricated. By using a large-caliber air gas gun, both the projectile penetration and perforation test are conducted, in which the striking velocities were ranged from 96 m/s to 157 m/s. The bulging velocity and the maximal deflection of rear steel plate, as well as penetration depth of projectile are derived, and the local deformation and failure modes of SC panels are assessed experimentally. Then, the commercial finite element program LS-DYNA is utilized to perform the numerical simulations, by comparisons with the experimental and simulated projectile impact process and SC panel damage, the numerical algorithm, constitutive models and the corresponding parameters are verified. The present work can provide helpful references for the evaluation of the local impact resistance of NPP buildings against the aircraft engine.

  • The main purpose of protective facility for small military unit is to provide the protection of not all the weapons system but the near-miss bullet in Korean army. In particular about the small caliber bullets, especially KM80 in Korea, there were many studies that both of the experiential and structural design methods dose not reflect enough the military threat. For that reason, a new equation to calculate effective anti-piercing depths for RC slabs against small caliber bullets is proposed in earlier research with actual shooting test. But, the test only considers the strength of concrete without the thickness of concrete, types of aggregate, the angle of yaw of bullet, high-strength concrete, etc. Therefore, this study evaluated the ballistic resistance performance by thickness and proportion of magnetic aggregate of concrete. As a result, we identified two major statistical estimations that the error of piercing depth by the angle of yaw of bullet could be cancelled by barrage and the thickness and proportion of magnetic aggregate of concrete dose not effect on the protection ability of concrete structure.

  • This paper describes the sound insulation and structural safety of the shelter which may be used for shooters. The noise level of the shelter should be less than 100 dB on the basis of the Industrial Safety and Act, the World Health Organization and the MIL-STD. The sound insulation design was designed for the shelter structure. The designed shelter performance was verified by the real measurement after completing the construction of the shelter. The system was also designed using the finite element method with data of sound pressure measured in the test. Its response was obtained numerically. It is proved that the shelter structure is sufficiently safe considering the calculated maximum stress level with the allowable stress of structural property.
