  • Purpose: Meta-analysis of this study was to analyze the character of adolescent smoking cessation programs, to calculate the effect size according to variables and to compare the weighted mean effect sizes on adolescent smoking cessation programs in Korea. Methods: Twenty two studies for meta-analysis were selected from dissertations, theses, articles and research papers that had been published from 1995 to 2003. The selected studies had a randomized or nonequivalent control group in a pretest-post test design and had reported statistical value to calculate the effect size. Results: The mean number of sessions was 6.5. The education time per each session varied from 40 to 150 min and the most applied theories were Bandura's social-cognitive theory and the cognitive-behavioral theory. Smoking-knowledge, smoking-attitudes and smoking-amount showed high effects on the first post test after mediating adolescent smoking cessation programs according to the criteria of Cohen. The effect size of urine-cotinine found no homogeneity on the first post test, but it was significantly effective on the second post test. Conclusion: Adolescent smoking cessation programs analyzed in this study were relatively effective in smoking abstinence.

  • Weather Strip(W/S) is a rubber part to proof water, sound and dust for opening and shutting devices including vehicle doors. And it requires high dimension precision and durability to proof water, noise, vibration and etc. But ironically it itself makes some wind noise because of some protuberance with glasses. The air flow analysis of door part of vehicle makes it possible to calculate and find out the cause of wind noise. In previous analysis, we focus on the numerical air flow analysis of the automobile side part. We do 2D-C.F.D first and 3D second. Through simulations, we can calculate the amount of sound pressure level at the glass run and find out the effects of glass run to make wind noise. Finally we can improve shape of glass run to reduce wind noise although it is small amounts of sound pressure reduction compared with total vehicle noise level.

  • There are several approaches to calculate a sample size for bioequivalence test. Among these approaches, sample sizes determination based on Schuirmann's two one-sided tests procedures has been used most popularly in case of 2${\times}$2 bioequivalence study. Here we proposed simple sample size table for conventional 2${\times}$2 bioequivalence test based on Schuirmann's two one-sided tests in accordance with Korean Guidelines for Bioequivalence Test. This table will allow researchers with a little statistical background to calculate the sample size for bioequivalence with easy process.

  • The interrupting capability of gas circuit breakers(GCB) are critically dependent on the pressure rise of the puffer cylinder or the thermal expansion chamber at current zero. Therefore it's very useful for the designers to know the pressure rise there at the design stage. Much effort has been done to predict the pressure rise in the puffer cylinder or the thermal expansion chamber in no-load condition. Thus, we now calculate it with reasonable accuracy with the simple programs coded by ourselves or with the commercial CFD packages. However, it has been still difficult problem to calculate it under the existence of arc. In this paper, we propose a method which can be used to predict the pressure rise in the thermal expansion chamber of thermal expansion type GCB. The method has been applied to the 25.8kV 25kA thermal expansion type model GCB and the calculated results have been compared with those from experiment.

  • In this paper, we introduce clustering scheme to calculate probability of detection which is practically required for conventional weighted-collaborative sensing technique. We also propose an improved weighted-collaborative spectrum sensing scheme using new weight generation algorithm to achieve better performance in Cognitive Radio systems. We calculate Pd in each cluster which is a CR users group with similar channel situation. New weight factor is generated using square sum of all cluster's Pds. Simulations under slow fading show that we can get better total detection probability and lower false alarm rate when PU (Primary User) suddenly terminates their transmission.

  • High speed Train Systems are the energy supplied system via the pantograph through which the voltage and the current supplied by the catenary wire flow. The arc discharges generate owing to the contact loss between the catenary and the pantograph, and the electromagnetic fields radiate. There are many different phenomena between the static charges and the moving charges in view of the radiated electromagnetic fields. To calculate the electromagnetic filed about the moving charges, it is necessary to adapt Lorentz transformation. Actually, the particle which moves near the speed of light has the relativisitic phenomena. In addition, it is necessary to predict the electromagnetic field because the radiated electromagnetic field takes effect on the near electronic devices and the human beings. In this paper, we model the arc discharge into the dipole antenna model, adapt Lorentz transformation to the case that the electric railway cars move, and calculate the radiated electromagnetic field. By the calculation, we take the basis upon the electromagnetic prediction, and apply to the future research.

  • Pipe inspection has a great importance to ensure safety for the nuclear power plant. In this paper, we designed visual inspection module for the tube internal, which diameter is 15${\sim}$20mm. And we made inspection module which consisted of CCD camera and light. And the relation between image and real world coordinate is established. Image processing is performed to calculate mapping parameter and analyze the size of defect. For the calculation of mapping parameter, experiment is performed using grid type test pattern. Acquired image is processed to extract image coordinate. Edge detection, thresholding, median filtering and morphology filtering is applied to extract grid pattern. Extracted image coordinate is used to calculate image to real world mapping. Lens distortion was considered and corrected to get exact data. Coordinate transformation data is provided for the users to recognize easily. Experiment was performed using grid type test pattern, we extracted lens distortion parameter and real coordinate of defect point. Radial distortion of lens was corrected but tangential distortion was not considered. As continuum to this study, the tangential distortion of lens is considered and improvement of analy zing technique for the tube internal be explored continuously.

  • Based on the recently derived general expression for the rates of diffusion-controlled reactions, we calculate the rates of dismutation of the superoxide anion radical catalyzed by Cu/Zn superoxide dismutases (SOD). This is the first attempt to calculate the absolute rates of diffusion-controlled enzyme reactions based on the atomiclevel molecular dynamics simulations. All solvent molecules are included explicitly and the effects of the structural flexibility of enzyme, especially those of side chain motions near the active site, are included in the present calculation. In addition, the actual mobility of the substrate molecule is taken into account, which may change as the molecule approaches the active site of enzyme from the bulk solution. The absolute value of the rate constant for the wild type SOD reaction obtained from MD simulation is shown to be in good agreement with the experimental value. The calculated reactivity of a mutant SOD is also in agreement with the experimental result.

  • Vulnerability assessment is a process to calculate the damage degree of a combat vehicle when the combat vehicle is attacked by an enemy. When the vehicle is hit, it is necessary to analyze the shot line to calculate which components are damaged and judge whether the armor of the vehicle is penetrated by enemy's warhead. To analyze the shot line efficiently, this paper presents the target modeling and the shot line analysis system to assess vulnerability of the ground combat vehicle. This system is easily able to do several functions: 1) the program reads STL files converted from CAD model which is designed by commercial CAD software. 2) It calculates the intersection between triangle of STL mesh and the shot line, and check if the components of the model are penetrated. 3) This program can visualize the results using OpenGL. The vulnerability assessment using the shot line analysis can be used to model the armor of the combat vehicle and arrange the inner components effectively in the early stage of development of the combat vehicle.
