대학생의 수분섭취, 피부 수분보유도 및 피부 pH와의 관계 (The Correlation Analysis of Fluid Intake, Skin Hydration and Skin pH of College Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify the correlation analysis between fluid intake on skin hydration and pH of college students. Methods: The subjects were 129 female nursing students in D city. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire, using a skin moisture checker and skin pH meter on faces, hands, and feet. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis, using SPSS WIN, 20. Results: The daily fluid intake was composed of 57% pure water, 21% caffeinated beverages, 22% non-caffeinated beverages. There were significant differences in average skin hydration on the three body parts according to pure water, caffeinated beverages, and non-caffeinated beverages; however, there was no significant difference measured by fluid intake. There was a significant positive correlation between fluid intake and skin hydration: between pure water and skin hydration. There was significant negative correlation between caffeinated beverages and skin hydration: between non-caffeinated beverages and skin hydration. Conclusion: The results suggest that fluid intake, pure water, caffeinated beverages, and non-caffeinated beverages have an effect on skin hydration and pH. Therefore, it is good to increase the amount of fluid intake but, it is recommended to increase the amount of intake of pure water rather than beverages to improve skin status.

청소년 고카페인 음료 섭취 관련 국내 연구 동향 분석 (2013~2023년) (Analysis of Domestic Research Trends on Adolescent Consumption of Highly-Caffeinated Beverages (2013~2023))

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the latest trends in research on adolescent highly-caffeinated drink consumption and to provide foundational data for future research directions. Methods: Twelve articles published in domestic journals between 2013 and 2023 were selected through a quality assessment and analyzed. Results: The major findings categorized factors influencing adolescent highly-caffeinated beverage consumption into 'addiction factors,' 'health factors,' and 'change factors.' Conclusion: The analysis of trends in factors related to adolescent highly-caffeinated beverage consumption research indicates that previous studies have focused on exploring variables interacting with caffeinated beverage consumption and those causing caffeinated consumption, aiming to manage them. In the future, efforts should be directed towards identifying and managing variables causing physical and psychological changes related to adolescent highly-caffeinated beverage consumption.

한국 일부 20~30대 성인의 음료 섭취와 비만도와의 관련성 (Association between Beverage Intake and Obesity in Korean Adults in their 20s~30s)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between daily beverage intake and obesity in young adults. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 256 adults in their 20s and 30s. Obesity was evaluated by anthropometric measurement of body mass index (BMI), waist to hip ratio and waist to height ratio. In addition, the daily intake of milk, caffeinated beverages, sweetened beverages, and alcoholic beverages was investigated using the dietary record and 24-h recall methods. Based on the BMI, men and women were classified into underweight, normal, overweight and obese. Among men, 38.3% were found to be normal, 28.1% were overweight and 31.3% obese. Among women, 11.7% were underweight, 73.4% were normal, and 10.2% were overweight, which was significantly different from men. In women, the BMI of the milk consumers was significantly lower than the non-consumers. Also, the obesity indices of caffeinated beverage consumers were significantly lower than the non-consumers. An analysis of the correlation between beverage intake and the obesity index showed that the intake of caffeinated beverages among women had a significant negative correlation with the obesity index, and intake of alcoholic beverages had a significant positive correlation with waist to height ratio. This study suggests that intake of milk and caffeinated beverage may have a positive effect on obesity, whereas the intake of alcoholic beverages may have a negative effect, especially in young adult women.

청소년의 고카페인 음료섭취 영향요인 : 제13차(2017년) 청소년건강행태 온라인조사 통계를 이용하여 (Factors influencing high-caffeine drink intake in adolescents: using data from the 13th(2017) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Online Survey)

  • 본 연구는 제13차(2017년) 청소년건강행태온라인조사 통계 자료를 이용하여 우리나라 청소년의 고카페인 음료 섭취 실태를 파악하고, 이에 대한 영향요인을 확인하기 위하여 시행되었다. 본 연구에서는 총 62,276명을 대상으로 인구 사회학적 요인, 건강행태 요인, 정신건강 요인과 고카페인 음료섭취를 조사하였다. 자료 분석은 카이제곱 검정 및 로지스틱 회귀분석을 사용하여 통계적 검정을 시행하였다. 연구 결과, 고카페인 음료섭취 비율은 남자에서 1.9%, 여자에서 1.5%로 나타났으며, 연령이 상승할수록 증가하였다(p<0.001). 현재 흡연과 현재 음주, 약물 사용을 하는 군과 신체활동이 많은 경우에서 고카페인 음료섭취 비율이 높았다(p<0.001). 스트레스 수준이 높고 주관적 수면 충족과 행복감 수준이 낮으며 우울감이나 자살 생각을 가졌던 경우에 고카페인 음료섭취의 비율이 높게 나타났다. 고카페인 음료섭취의 영향요인으로는 성별, 연령, 현재 흡연, 신체활동, 현재 약물 사용, 스트레스 수준, 우울감 경험, 자살 생각이었다. 따라서 청소년의 건강행태를 개선하고 스트레스 관리를 통해 정신건강을 증진시키기 위한 지속적인 논의가 필요할 것이다.

경기도내 고등학생의 카페인 함유 음료 섭취 실태 조사 (Investigation on the Consumption of Caffeinated beverages by High School Students in Gyeonggi-do)

  • 경기도내 고등학생의 카페인 함유 음료 섭취실태를 조사하기 위해 886명을 대상으로 2013년 5월부터 6월까지 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사대상자의 97%가 카페인 함유 음료를 섭취한 경험이 있었고, 콜라 등 탄산음료(90.0%), 가공유(초코, 커피)와 코코아(79.0%), 커피(63.0), 다류(녹차, 홍차) (52.1%), 에너지음료(16.4%), 자양강장음료(15.5%)순으로 나타나 음료의 선호도 순위와 일치하였다. 고등학생의 음료를 통한 카페인 섭취량은 41.53 mg/day였고, 최대 일일섭취권고량(2.5 mg/kg)에 대한 실제섭취량은 평균 29.2%로 나타났다. 카페인 섭취량 중 커피(51.5%)가 가장 많은 부분을 차지하였고, 탄산음료(19.6%), 가공유 코코아(11.5%), 다류(11.4%), 에너지음료(5.0%), 자양강장음료(1.1%)순으로 나타났다. 카페인 섭취량은 스트레스가 심한 그룹, 일일 2회이상 간식을 섭취하는 그룹, 스마트폰과 컴퓨터 사용량이 3시간 초과하는 그룹에서 높게 나타났다. 카페인 함유 음료 섭취 후 증상과 카페인 섭취량과의 관계를 분석한 결과 심장 두근거림과 불면증, 빈뇨를 경험한 그룹은 카페인 섭취량이 높게 나타났다.

The Structural Equation Model of Intention to Discontinue Drinking Highly Caffeinated Beverage of Undergraduate Students

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test a model for intention to discontinuation drinking high caffeinated beverages among undergraduate students. This model was based on the Ajzen's theory of planned behavior and Becker's health belief model. Methods: Participants consisted of 201 undergraduate students. Data were collected by questionnaires from March 11 to May 24, 2019. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 22.0, AMOS 22.0 program. Results: The assessment of the model indicated an acceptable fit (normed x2=1.65, goodness-of-fit index [GFI]=.83, adjusted GFI=.79, comparative fit index [CFI]=.92, standardized root mean square residual [SRMR]=.05, Tucker-Lewis index [TLI]=.91, normed fit index [NFI]=.87, root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA]=.07). Perceived behavior control, subjective norm, the subjective attitude was found to have a significant direct effect on the intention to discontinuation of drinking a high caffeinated beverage. The variances of this model explained 45.3% of the variance in intention to discontinuation of drinking a high caffeinated beverage. Conclusion: These results suggest that a need to increase awareness of adverse effects and potential risks of high caffeinated beverage consumption in undergraduate students. Besides, the university and government should provide education and campaigns to prevent excessive high-caffeinated beverage consumption.

Health Related Nutritional Knowledge and Dietary Behavior Regarding Caffeine Intake among High School Students in Yongin Region

  • Objectives: We aimed to examine health-related nutritional knowledge and dietary behavior related to caffeine intake among high school students (n = 310) in the Yongin region of Korea. Methods: Data were collected using a face-to-face survey, and analyzed using chi-square test, t- test, and logistic regression analysis. Results: The level of caffeine intake in respondents was divided into low (< 30 mg/d; n = 208) and high caffeine intake groups (> 30 mg/d; n = 102). Total nutritional knowledge related to bone disease was higher in the low intake group (score 2.75) than the high intake group (score 2.39; p < 0.05). The high intake group had lower scores for nutritional knowledge (score 0.70; p < 0.05) related to how caffeinated beverages affect sleep and for dietary behavior (score 3.25; p < 0.001), based on "I avoid caffeinated foods before sleep," than the low intake group (nutritional knowledge score, 0.80; dietary behavior score, 3.76). Conclusion: In the overall analysis, the low caffeine intake group had better nutritional knowledge related to bone and sleep health, and healthier dietary behavior related to sleep health compared with the high intake group.

청소년의 고카페인 음료 섭취와 우울증상 및 자살의 관계 (The Relationships Among Highly Caffeinated Beverage Intake and Depressive Symptom, Suicide in Adolescents)

  • 연구목적 청소년의 고카페인 음료(에너지 드링크) 섭취가 급격히 증가하며 사회적인 이슈가 되고 있지만 정신과적인 영향에 대해서는 아직까지 자세히 밝혀지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 청소년의 고카페인 음료 섭취와 우울증상, 자살생각, 자살계획 및 자살시도 간의 관계를 알아보고자 하였다. 방 법 2014년 수행된 제 10차 대한민국 청소년건강행태온라인 조사에서 자기기입식 설문을 통해 고카페인 음료섭취 유무 및 섭취 용량, 우울증상, 자살생각, 자살계획, 자살시도 경험을 평가하였다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 변인들의 관련성을 알아보기 위해 카이제곱 검정을 시행하였고, 우울증상과 자살생각, 자살계획, 자살시도의 위험요인을 파악하기 위해 나이, 성별, 학업성취도, 가족경제수준을 보정하여 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결 과 본 연구에서는 총 71,638명의 자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 최근 1주일 동안 고카페인 음료를 섭취한 적이 있는 청소년이 그렇지 않은 경우에 비해 우울증상(p<0.01), 자살생각(p<0.01), 자살계획(p<0.01), 자살시도(p<0.01) 경험이 통계적으로 유의하게 높았으며, 고카페인 음료 섭취 경험은 자살시도(O.R=1.99 ; 95% CI, 1.77-2.22)의 위험요인으로 나타났다. 청소년 카페인 일일 섭취권고량을 초과하는 고용량 섭취군이 저용량 섭취군에 비해 우울증상(p<0.01), 자살생각(p<0.01), 자살계획(p<0.01), 자살시도(p<0.01) 경험이 통계적으로 유의하게 높았으며, 고용량 카페인 섭취가 자살시도(O.R=4.05 ; 95% CI, 3.02-5.43)의 위험요인으로 확인되었다. 결 론 본 연구에서 청소년의 고카페인 음료 섭취는 우울증상, 자살생각, 자살계획, 자살시도 경험의 증가와 유의한 관련성이 있었으며, 일일섭취권고량을 초과하는 고용량 카페인 섭취는 자살 시도의 위험성을 높이는 요인임을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 고카페인 음료 섭취가 청소년의 심리적, 정신적 어려움과 관련될 수 있어 주의가 필요함을 강조한다.

한국 청소년의 가당음료 섭취 관련 건강 행동 요인 분석 (Health Behavior Factors Associated with Sugar-sweetened Beverage Intake among Adolescents)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to measure the intake rate of SSBs (sugar sweetened beverages) and examine the relationship between health behavior factors and SSBs intake by adolescents. Methods: This study used data from the 2016 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, which included 65,528 study participants. SSBs intake frequency was measured by asking respondents if they consumed soda, high-caffeinated beverages, and sugary drinks during the previous week. Type of intake was categorized into three groups according to the number of consumed drinks [SSBs (0): None; SSBs (1-2): 1 or 2 consumed; SSBs (3): 3 consumed]. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to examine health behaviors that affected SSBs consumption. Results: Increased SSBs intake was significantly correlated with current smoking (OR=2.4, 95% CI=1.82-3.17), current drinking (OR=2.13, 95% CI=1.82-2.51), sedentary time increase (OR=1.31, 95% CI=1.15-1.49), three days or more physical activity per week (OR=1.12, 95% CI=1.02-1.24), <8 hours sleep (OR=1.6, 95% CI=1.43-1.78), increased internet usage time (OR=1.44, 95% CI=1.25-1.65). Conclusions: Sugar-sweetened beverages intake by Korean adolescents was associated with health behaviors such as smoking, drinking, sedentary time increase, more physical activity, poor sleeping time, and increased internet use time. Based on these results, it is necessary to recognize the influence of SSBs intake and to intervene to reduce consumption of SSBs.

Association between body shape misperception and unhealthy eating behaviors among Korean adolescents

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Body shape misperception (BSM) is the disagreement between the subjectively perceived body size and body mass index. This study investigated the association between BSM and unhealthy eating behaviors (UEB) among Korean adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This cross-sectional study used data from the 2019 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey with 55,748 participants. UEB were measured according to the weekly consumption frequency of caffeinated energy drinks, fast food, carbonated beverages, and sugar-sweetened beverages. The covariates included demographic and socioeconomic characteristics and health-related factors. Multiple logistic regression analysis determined the association between BSM and UEB. RESULTS: Among the participants, 37,607 (67.5%) reported UEB. The gap between UEB among those with BSM was the largest between the underestimated and accurately estimated groups. Participants who underestimated their body shape were likelier to engage in UEB (adjusted odds ratio [AOR], 1.18; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.11-1.25). Both sexes with underestimation of body size showed an association with UEB compared to those with accurate estimations (girls: AOR, 1.19; 95% CI, 1.09-1.30; boys: AOR, 1.16; 95% CI, 1.08-1.26). CONCLUSIONS: Underestimating body shape can provoke UEB among Korean adolescents. The need for appropriate school health interventional programs to prevent underestimating body shape is emphasized to avoid UEB.
