인천청라지구 5개 보도교의 디자인 프로세스 (Design Process of 5 Pedestrian Bridges in Chongna, Incheon)

  • 한국토지공사는 주거, 금융센터, 리조트 시설, 쇼핑 몰, 관광과 스포츠 시설을 포함하는 대규모 단지계획으로서 인천 청라지구를 계획하고 있다. 대규모 단지 (1780만$m^2$)중에 하나가 건설 중이다. 전체지역을 6개의 지역으로 구분하고 6개의 보석 명칭(크리스탈, 샤파이어, 루비, 에머랄드, 자드, 진주, 다이아몬드)들을 부여하고 있다. 한국토지공사는 3개의 주거 단지에 그 지역을 대표할 수 있는 다양하고 특별한 형태와 구조 시스템을 요구하였다. 본인은 이러한 구조형태의 인도교를 소개하고자 한다. 4개의 사장교 뿐만 아니라, 아치교과 트러스교들이 계획되었다.

Recent R&D activities on structural health monitoring in Korea

  • In this paper, recent research trends and activities on structural health monitoring (SHM) of civil infrastructure in Korea are reviewed. Recently, there has been increasing need for adopting smart sensing technologies to SHM, so this review focuses on smart sensing, monitoring, and assessment for civil infrastructure. Firstly, the research activities on smart sensor technology is reviewed including optical fiber sensors, piezoelectric sensors, wireless smart sensors, and vision-based sensing system. Then, a brief overview is given to the recent advances in smart monitoring and assessment techniques such as vibration-based global monitoring techniques, local monitoring with piezoelectric materials, decentralized monitoring techniques for wireless sensors, wireless power supply and energy harvest. Finally, recent joint SHM activities on several test beds in Korea are discussed to share the up-to-date information and to promote the smart sensors and monitoring technologies for applications to civil infrastructure. It includes a Korea-US joint research on test bridges of the Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC), a Korea-US-Japan joint research on Jindo cable-stayed bridge, and a comparative study for cable tension measurement techniques on Hwamyung cable-stayed bridge, and a campaign test for displacement measurement techniques on Sorok suspension bridge.

전기저항식 로드셀을 이용한 균등긴장시스템 개발 및 성능실험 (Development and Performance Experiment of Iso-tensioning System using Electrical Resistance Loadcell)

  • MS(Multi-Strand) 케이블은 여러 개의 강연선으로 이루어져있어, 케이블 시공시 각 강연선을 차례대로 개별적으로 긴장한다. 그리고 마지막 강연선이 정착되었을 때, 모든 강연선에 동일한 장력이 도입되어야하며, 이것이 MS 균등긴장의 핵심기술이다. 본 연구에서는 엑스트라도즈(Extradosed)교 및 사장교의 사재케이블(Stay Cable)에 적용되는 2,200MPa 초고강도 강연선들을 균등하게 긴장, 제어할 수 있는 MS 케이블 균등긴장시스템을 개발하였다. 개발한 균등긴장시스템은 전기저항식 로드셀, 유압잭, 유압펌프 그리고 통합제어기로 구성되며, Master 강연선과 Slave 강연선의 장력변화를 실시간으로 예측하며 제어하는 알고리즘을 탑재하였다. 개발시스템의 기능과 성능을 검증하기 위해 균등긴장 실험을 수행한 후, 광양 태인2교(ED교)의 사재케이블 가설긴장에 성공적으로 적용하였다.

Structural evaluation of all-GFRP cable-stayed footbridge after 20 years of service life

  • The paper presents the study on a change in modal parameters and structural stiffness of cable-stayed Fiberline Bridge made entirely of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) composite used for 20 years in the fjord area of Kolding, Denmark. Due to this specific location the bridge structure was subjected to natural aging in harsh environmental conditions. The flexural properties of the pultruded GFRP profiles acquired from the analyzed footbridge in 1997 and 2012 were determined through three-point bending tests. It was found that the Young's modulus increased by approximately 9%. Moreover, the influence of the temperature on the storage and loss modulus of GFRP material acquired from the Fiberline Bridge was studied by the dynamic mechanical analysis. The good thermal stability in potential real temperatures was found. The natural vibration frequencies and mode shapes of the bridge for its original state were evaluated through the application of the Finite Element (FE) method. The initial FE model was created using the real geometrical and material data obtained from both the design data and flexural test results performed in 1997 for the intact composite GFRP material. Full scale experimental investigations of the free-decay response under human jumping for the experimental state were carried out applying accelerometers. Seven natural frequencies, corresponding mode shapes and damping ratios were identified. The numerical and experimental results were compared. Based on the difference in the fundamental natural frequency it was again confirmed that the structural stiffness of the bridge increased by about 9% after 20 years of service life. Data collected from this study were used to validate the assumed FE model. It can be concluded that the updated FE model accurately reproduces the dynamic behavior of the bridge and can be used as a proper baseline model for the long-term monitoring to evaluate the overall structural response under service loads. The obtained results provided a relevant data for the structural health monitoring of all-GFRP bridge.

Structural health rating (SHR)-oriented 3D multi-scale finite element modeling and analysis of Stonecutters Bridge

  • The Stonecutters Bridge (SCB) in Hong Kong is the third-longest cable-stayed bridge in the world with a main span stretching 1,018 m between two 298 m high single-leg tapering composite towers. A Wind and Structural Health Monitoring System (WASHMS) is being implemented on SCB by the Highways Department of The Hong Kong SAR Government, and the SCB-WASHMS is composed of more than 1,300 sensors in 15 types. In order to establish a linkage between structural health monitoring and maintenance management, a Structural Health Rating System (SHRS) with relevant rating tools and indices is devised. On the basis of a 3D space frame finite element model (FEM) of SCB and model updating, this paper presents the development of an SHR-oriented 3D multi-scale FEM for the purpose of load-resistance analysis and damage evaluation in structural element level, including modeling, refinement and validation of the multi-scale FEM. The refined 3D structural segments at deck and towers are established in critical segment positions corresponding to maximum cable forces. The components in the critical segment region are modeled as a full 3D FEM and fitted into the 3D space frame FEM. The boundary conditions between beam and shell elements are performed conforming to equivalent stiffness, effective mass and compatibility of deformation. The 3D multi-scale FEM is verified by the in-situ measured dynamic characteristics and static response. A good agreement between the FEM and measurement results indicates that the 3D multi-scale FEM is precise and efficient for WASHMS and SHRS of SCB. In addition, stress distribution and concentration of the critical segments in the 3D multi-scale FEM under temperature loads, static wind loads and equivalent seismic loads are investigated. Stress concentration elements under equivalent seismic loads exist in the anchor zone in steel/concrete beam and the anchor plate edge in steel anchor box of the towers.

Vibration mitigation of stay cable using optimally tuned MR damper

  • Mechanical dampers have been proved to be one of the most effective countermeasures for vibration mitigation of stay cables in various cable-stayed bridges over the world. However, for long stay cables, as the installation height of the damper is restricted due to the aesthetic concern, using passive dampers alone may not satisfy the control requirement of the stay cables. In this connection, semi-active MR dampers have been proposed for the vibration mitigation of long stay cables. Although various studies have been carried out on the implementation of MR dampers on stay cables, the optimal damping performance of the cable-MR damper system has yet to be evaluated. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the effectiveness of MR damper as a semi-active control device for the vibration mitigation of stay cable. The mathematical model of the MR damper will first be established through a performance test. Then, an efficient semi-active control strategy will be derived, where the damping of MR damper will be tuned according to the dynamic characteristics of stay cable, in order to achieve optimal damping of cable-damper system. Simulation study will be carried out to verify the proposed semi-active control algorithm for suppressing the cable vibrations induced by different loading patterns using optimally tuned MR damper. Finally, the effectiveness of MR damper in mitigating multi modes of cable vibration will be examined theoretically.

사장교를 위한 LRB-기반 복합 기초격리 시스템 (LRB-based hybrid base isolation systems for cable-stayed bridges)

  • 사장교에 발생하는 지진에 의한 진동을 감소시키기 위해 추가적인 능동/반능동 제어장치를 부착한 LRB-기반 복합 기초격리 시스템에 대한 논문이다. 복합 기초격리 시스템은 제어장치가 다중으로 작동하기 때문에 LRB가 설치된 교량 시스템과 같은 수동형 기초격리 시스템에 비해 제어 성능이 뛰어나다. 본 논문에서는, LQG 알고리듬에 의해 제어되는 능동형 유압식 가력기와 clipped 최적제어에 의해 제어되는 반능동형 자기유변 유체 (MR) 감쇠기를 추가적인 제어장치로 고려하여 추가적인 응답 감소 효과를 검토하였다. 이를 위해, 미국토목학회의 1단계 벤치마크 사장교에 LRB를 설치한 교량을 고려하였다. 수치해석 결과를 통해, 모든 LRB-기반 복합 기초격리시스템이 구조물의 응답을 효과적으로 감소시킴을 확인하였다. 또한, MR 감쇠기를 채택한 복합 기초격리 시스템은 구조물 강성의 불확실성에 대해 강인성을 보였지만 유압식 가력기를 채택한 경우에는 강인성이 부족함을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 반능동형 추가 제어장치를 채택한 복합 기초격리 시스템의 대형 토목구조물에 대한 적용가능성이 제어 성능 및 강인성 면에서 분명하게 검증되었다.

성능저하모델에 기초한 사장교의 설계단계 생애주기비용 분석 (Life Cycle Cost Analysis at Design Stage of Cable Stayed Bridges based on the Performance Degradation Models)

  • 최근, 엔지니어링의 실무에서 토목 시설물의 설계 및 유지관리 단계를 위한 효과적인 생애주기비용(Life Cycle Cost; LCC) 산정 방법의 실무적인 적용에 대한 요구가 높아지고 있다. 이와 같이, 21세기에 들어 엔지니어링의 최적 의사결정의 실무적 문제에 가치공학과 더불어 생애주기비용 분석은 새로운 패러다임으로 주목받고 있지만 이러한 연구 개발의 괄목할만한 진보에도 불구하고, 대부분의 설계단계 생애주기비용 분석은 확정적, 확률적 분석기법에 그치고 있고 적용 가능한 구조물도 일반 교량에 국한되어 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 설계단계 생애주기비용 분석에 대한 실용적이고 합리적인 신뢰성해석 기반 성능저하 모델을 고려하여 기존의 분석방법을 업데이트하는 분석 방법론을 개발하고 이를 특수교인 사장교에 적용하는데 목적이 있다. 이에 현재가치의 합으로 표현되는 직/간접 유지관리비용을 기존 방법과는 다르게 기대 성능저하모델에 바탕을 둔 최적 유지관리 시나리오를 통한 생애주기비용 분석 기법으로 제시하였다. 마지막으로 본 논문에서 제안한 업데이트된 생애주기비용 분석의 방법론을 실제 고속도로 사장교 건설 프로젝트의 설계단계 의사결정 문제에 적용하여 합리적이고 체계적인 분석 방법 및 최적의사결정과정을 제시하였다.

Refinement of damage identification capability of neural network techniques in application to a suspension bridge

  • The idea of using measured dynamic characteristics for damage detection is attractive because it allows for a global evaluation of the structural health and condition. However, vibration-based damage detection for complex structures such as long-span cable-supported bridges still remains a challenge. As a suspension or cable-stayed bridge involves in general thousands of structural components, the conventional damage detection methods based on model updating and/or parameter identification might result in ill-conditioning and non-uniqueness in the solution of inverse problems. Alternatively, methods that utilize, to the utmost extent, information from forward problems and avoid direct solution to inverse problems would be more suitable for vibration-based damage detection of long-span cable-supported bridges. The auto-associative neural network (ANN) technique and the probabilistic neural network (PNN) technique, that both eschew inverse problems, have been proposed for identifying and locating damage in suspension and cable-stayed bridges. Without the help of a structural model, ANNs with appropriate configuration can be trained using only the measured modal frequencies from healthy structure under varying environmental conditions, and a new set of modal frequency data acquired from an unknown state of the structure is then fed into the trained ANNs for damage presence identification. With the help of a structural model, PNNs can be configured using the relative changes of modal frequencies before and after damage by assuming damage at different locations, and then the measured modal frequencies from the structure can be presented to locate the damage. However, such formulated ANNs and PNNs may still be incompetent to identify damage occurring at the deck members of a cable-supported bridge because of very low modal sensitivity to the damage. The present study endeavors to enhance the damage identification capability of ANNs and PNNs when being applied for identification of damage incurred at deck members. Effort is first made to construct combined modal parameters which are synthesized from measured modal frequencies and modal shape components to train ANNs for damage alarming. With the purpose of improving identification accuracy, effort is then made to configure PNNs for damage localization by adapting the smoothing parameter in the Bayesian classifier to different values for different pattern classes. The performance of the ANNs with their input being modal frequencies and the combined modal parameters respectively and the PNNs with constant and adaptive smoothing parameters respectively is evaluated through simulation studies of identifying damage inflicted on different deck members of the double-deck suspension Tsing Ma Bridge.

특수교 계측 데이터 자동 통계 분석 툴 개발 (Development of Automated Statistical Analysis Tool using Measurement Data in Cable-Supported Bridges)

  • 특수교는 중요한 대형 시설물로 장기적이고 체계적인 유지관리 전략을 필요로 한다. 특히, 시설물 부재별 및 위치별로 다양한 센서를 설치하고 계측 항목별 관리 기준치 설정과 같은 시설물의 안전 확보를 위해 여러 방안들이 제시되고 있다. 이 중 지속적으로 증가하는 특수교의 수와 여러 센서에서 수집되는 데이터를 효율적으로 관리하기 위한 전략적인 방안을 제시해야 할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 특수교 계측 시스템에서 수집되는 광범위한 데이터를 효율적으로 분석하기 위한 목적으로 자동적으로 이상신호를 처리하고 통계 결과를 산출할 수 있는 분석 툴을 개발하고자 한다. 분석 툴 개발을 위해 우선 특수교에 설치된 주요 센서 종류 및 수량과 같은 기본적인 정보와 수집된 데이터에 대한 신호 특성을 분석하였다. 이후 험펠 필터 기법을 활용 신호의 이상 유무를 판별하고 필터링하여 통계 결과를 산출하였다. 마지막으로 개발된 분석 툴의 성능 검증을 위해 현재 공용 중인 사장교와 현수교 형식의 교량을 각 1개소씩 성능검증 대상 교량으로 선정하여 신호처리 및 자동 통계 분석 성능을 실시하였고, 기존의 통계 작업 결과와 유사한 결과를 산출 할 수 있었다.
