고온초전도 DC 케이블 시스템용 PPLP 및 GFRP의 절연 특성 (Dielectric Breakdown Characteristics of PPLP and GFRP for HTS DC Cable System)

  • DC high-temperature superconducting(HTS) cable system has attracted a great deal of interest from the view point of low loss, dense structure and large capacity. A HTS cable system is made of cable and termination. The insulating materials and insulation technology must be solved for the long life, reliability and compact of cable system. In this paper, we will report on the dielectric breakdown characteristics of insulating materials for HTS cable and termination. The AC, DC and lightning impulse breakdown strength of laminated polypropylene paper(PPLP) and glass fiber reinforced plastic(GFRP) have been measured under nitrogen pressures in the range of 0.l-0.4MPa. PPLP and GFRP are found to have a significantly higher DC breakdown strength. Also, DC surface flashover voltage of negative polarity is slightly higher than that of positive polarity in GFRP.

Stabilities of cable-stiffened cylindrical single-layer latticed shells

  • A cable-stiffened cylindrical single-layer latticed shell that is reinforced by cable-stiffened system has superior stability behaviour compared with the ordinary cylindrical latticed shell. The layouts of cable-stiffened system are flexible in this structural system, and different layouts contribute different stiffness to the structure. However, the existed few research primarily focused on the simplest type of cable layouts, in which the grids of the latticed shell are diagonally stiffened by prestressed cables in-plane. This current work examines the stability behaviour of the cable-stiffened cylindrical latticed shells with two different types of cable layouts using nonlinear finite element analysis. A parametric study on the effect of cross-sectional of the cables, pretension in cables, joint stiffness, initial imperfections, load distributions and boundary conditions is presented. The findings are useful for the reference of the designer in using this type of structural system.

  • Vibration characteristics of a small stand alone W/T(wind turbine) system are experimentally and theoretically investigated. Vibration resonance of the tower-cable system is monitored and the data are analysed with the analytical results. To predict the resonance speed of the cable supported WIT. Rayleigh-Ritz method is applied to the tower-guy cable coupled system. Parametric study on the relation of the cable tension. cable elasticity and resonance frequency is carried out. Results of the study are utilized to design the stable structure of small size wind turbines which consist of a pivoted tower and guy cables.

  • The cable bolt is useful underground space support system such as mining in Europe. In spite of favorable strength characteristics, past record of the cable bolt is rarely in Korea. In this study, to evaluate the mechanically characteristics the cable bolt on tunnel support system. To conduct the laboratory strength test in order to enquire material properties as reinforcement material and numerical analysis was performed considering laboratory test results. To estimate the behavior characteristics on tunnel system in which supported by the cable bolt system and compared the behavior characteristics with the rebar rock bolt system result.

교량케이블 영상기반 손상탐지 (A Vision-based Damage Detection for Bridge Cables)

  • This study presents an effective vision-based system for cable bridge damage detection. In theory, cable bridges need to be inspected the outer as well as the inner part. Starting from August 2010, a new research project supported by Korea Ministry of Land, Transportation Maritime Affairs(MLTM) was initiated focusing on the damage detection of cable system. In this study, only the surface damage detection algorithm based on a vision-based system will be focused on, an overview of the vision-based cable damage detection is given in Fig. 1. Basically, the algorithm combines the image enhancement technique with principal component analysis(PCA) to detect damage on cable surfaces. In more detail, the input image from a camera is processed with image enhancement technique to improve image quality, and then it is projected into PCA sub-space. Finally, the Mahalanobis square distance is used for pattern recognition. The algorithm was verified through laboratory tests on three types of cable surface. The algorithm gave very good results, and the next step of this study is to implement the algorithm for real cable bridges.

  • With rapid development of world economics, electricity demand in metropolitan area has been increased dramatically. HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) cable is one of most promising technology to solve the bottleneck of electric network. However, HTS cable is not considered as matured technology yet to power system planners because of its different characteristics with conventional metal conductors. This paper suggests the comparison results of HTS cable simulation and experiment on steady state operation, also give the simulation results on transient characteristics of HTS cable components. This results could devote not only to discuss the security of HTS cable operation, but also to design power system oriented HTS cable.

사장교 케이블 진동저감을 위한 능동제어시스템 (Active Control System for Mitigation of Cable Vibration in Cable-Stayed Bridges)

  • 사장교 케이블은 구조적으로 휨강성과 감쇠력이 작아 풍우에 의해 쉽게 유해진동이 발생한다. 이러한 풍우진동을 저감시키기 위한 효과적인 방법으로 부가댐퍼를 장착하여 케이블의 감쇠력을 증가시키는 제어시스템이 널리 사용되어왔다. 그러나 댐퍼를 케이블의 정착부 부근에 설치할 수밖에 없는 구조적 한계로 인하여 충분한 감쇠력을 발휘하기 어렵다. 그러므로 본 논문은 수동제어시스템 보다 효과적으로 풍하중에 의한 케이블 진동을 제어하기 위한 능동제어시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 능동제어시스템은 케이블의 정착단에 베어링 장치를 장착하여 케이블 단부에서 횡방향 변위가 가능하도록 모델링 하였으며, 앵커리지 내부에 장착된 능동댐퍼를 이용하여 적절한 제어력을 제공하도록 하였다. 능동제어를 위하여 최적제어 이론을 이용 LQG 조정기를 설계하였으며, 수치해석은 실제 교량인 서해대교의 최장 케이블을 대상으로 하여 기존의 댐퍼 시스템과 수동, 능동 댐퍼 부착에 따른 케이블의 진동제어성능을 비교 및 분석하였다. 연구결과 제안된 능동제어시스템은 효과적으로 사장교 케이블의 진동을 저감시킬 수 있는 시스템임을 입증하였으며, 기존의 부가댐퍼 시스템 보다 효과적으로 진동을 저감시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • This paper presents a cable-driven hydraulic actuator named Cable Rod Hydraulic Actuator (CRHA). The cable actuating system is attractive for designing a compact joint in robotic applications since it can be installed remotely from the joint. Recently, cable rods have been used in pneumatic area for inertia reduction. However, designing cable rods in hydraulics is challenging because it is difficult to achieve flexibility and endurance simultaneously under high pressure conditions. In this paper, the cable rod, which consists of a cable and jacket, is proposed to meet both requirements. To design the CRHA, we determined the design parameters, such as cylinder size, and selected the cable rod's material by friction and leakage test. Finally, comparisons experiments about step and frequency responses with conventional hydraulic actuators were performed to assess feasibility for robotic joints, and the results show that the proposed system has good bandwidth and fast response as robotic joints.

  • This paper analyses crossbonded cable system underneath a bridge. The simulation is performed under various system configuration such as cable length, iron frame size, lightning surge. The simulation models are established by EMTP/ATPDRraw. In this paper, the crossboneded cable system underneath a bridge is also analyzed for insulation coordination of iron frame and cables.

  • High temperature super conducting(HTS) cable system for power transmission are under development that will be cooled by sub-cooled liquid nitrogen to provide cooling of the cable and termination. The target of the development during the first 3-years stage is 22.9kV/50MVA class and 30m length cold dielectric type 3-phase power cable. The essential features of the HTS cable cryogenic system and performance conditions for the design of power cable will be discussed.
