  • In this paper, cable drive mechanism is proposed to implement high reduction gear ratio. Cable drive mechanism has great advantages such as light weight, high degree of freedom about design aspect and zero backlashes. However, it is restrictively utilized for robotic applications because it is difficult to implement high reduction gear ratio more than 10 to 1. Proposed mechanism enables multi-level reductions by adopting seamless winding method (SWM) which links the previous output axis and the next input axis. Consequently, this reduces the mechanical complexity significantly and enables high reduction with only one single wire cable. 3D CAD design was provided and prototype was manufactured.

  • Recently, the development of mobile devices demands information storage systems to use micro drive devices. 1-inch micro drive hard disk uses the load/unload(L/UL) technology to increase area recording density and reduce power consumption. Because micro drive has light actuator, effects of the flexible cable that is ignored in 3.5-inch hard disk drive is important to load/unload performances. In this paper, effects of flexible cable on load/unload performances are studied.

  • The neutron controls a nuclear fission in the core of reactor. In-core neutron detector drive system is a equipment that drives detector and cable to survey neutron flux in the reactor. The program introduced by this paper governs proto-type drive system. The basic function of drive system is the insert and the withdraw of a cable, and the control of the movement speed. Also this program have a special function, test, auto operation, to increase the capacity of drive system.

  • In this paper, a cable-driven endoscopic manipulator (CEM) is designed for the Chinese latest compact fusion reactor. The whole CEM arm is more than 3000 mm long and includes end vision tools, an endoscopic manipulator/control system, a feeding system, a drag chain system, support systems, a neutron shield door, etc. It can cover a range of ±45° of the vacuum chamber by working in a wrap-around mode, etc., to meet the need for observation at any position and angle. By placing all drive motors in the end drive box via a cable drive, cooling, and radiation protection of the entire robot can be facilitated. To address the CEM motion control problem, a discrete trajectory tracking method is proposed. By restricting each joint of the CEM to the target curve through segmental fitting, the trajectory tracking control is completed. To avoid the joint rotation angle overrun, a joint limit rotation angle optimization method is proposed based on the equivalent rod length principle. Finally, the CEM simulation system is established. The rationality of the structure design and the effectiveness of the motion control algorithm are verified by the simulation.

  • A neutron controls a nuclear fission in the core of a reactor. Drive system for in-core neutron detector is an equipment that drives the detector and cable to survey neutron flux in the reactor. The drive system introduced by this paper was designed for mock-up system and fabricated to drive two drivers that having a different function. The system consists of a driver assembly, a power transmission part, and cable storage part. And there is a control panel that contains PLC and inverter. This paper is going to introduce the design and certify the operation status of completed system by control panal. And we conducted the test for torque measurement.

  • This paper is conducted a research of the cable and filter design considering the deep sea floor environment. The electric architecture which is being used in the subsea plant is comprised of the power supply unit of the high voltage, high-capacity drive system, long cable, and electric motor in the sea area. Conducted emission is occurred by the rapid voltage change at the moment of switching at high speed of inverter for driving motors. The more the length of the cable is lengthened, the worse the motor is influenced by transient voltage. Thus, the over voltage occurred in the drive motor was confirmed by designed wire which is considered R, L, line-to-line C, line-to-gnd C of long cable used in the subsea plant. A guide line of the subsea plant model is also suggested by using a filter to reduce conducted noise of PWM inverter drive-system.

  • In recent years, the demand for portable digital devices such as cellular phone, digital camera, and MP3 player has been largely increased. To meet the requirements of such portable applications the information storage devices with smaller size, higher capacity, and lower power consumption are needed. A small form factor (SFF) HDD using a load/unload (L/UL) system is one of the appropriate alternatives to satisfy these requirements. Due to complexity of L/UL process and mechanism, it is required to investigate for better understanding the effects of design parameters. Among the various design parameters, flexible cable and friction force on the L/UL ramp become important to the dynamic characteristics of L/UL process as the system is miniaturized. The program for L/UL simulation which considers the effect of flexible cable and L/UL ramp is needed. Unfortunately, there is hardly any commercial program for the L/UL simulation except the Computer Mechanics Laboratory (CML) air bearing design program and the CML L/UL simulation code. Furthermore, the design parameters such as flexible cable and the L/UL ramp are not considered in the CML L/UL simulation code. So we embody the L/UL simulation considering flexible cable and an L/UL ramp by using the ANSYS/LS-DYNA. In this thesis, the effects of flexible cable and friction force on the dynamic characteristics and the performances of the L/UL process are studied. Numerical simulation and related experiments are carried out and compared each other.

  • We compared 3 kinds of ignitor characteristics and represented the procedure in order to turn the HID lamp on. Also, we analysed the cable characteristic based on the length between ignitor and the HID lamp and proved it theoretically. In practice, the ignition voltage contains a lot of problems because it is easily changed by the structure of ignitors, cable length and characteristics. In this paper, therefore, 3 ignitors, which are LC resonant typed, arc-gap circuit typed and drive frequency variable typed, have simulated and analysed with the 25[m] cable length. After careful consideration of comparisons made of all the ignitors' and cables' characteristics, a number of possible solutions were finalized.
