  • This study was conducted to optimize the spring constant and the damping coefficient, which are design parameters of the tractor cabin suspension system, to minimize the ride vibration. A 3D tractor MBD (multi-body dynamics) model with a cabin suspension system was developed using a dynamic analysis program (Recurdyn). Using the developed model and optimization algorithm, the spring constant and the damping coefficient, which are the design parameters of the cabin suspension for the tractor, was were optimized so thatto minimize the maximum overshoot for the vertical displacement of the cabin was minimized. The percent maximum overshoot of the tractor cabin was simulated for the 13 initial models, which were obtained using the ISCD-II method, and for the 3 additional SAO models presented in the optimization algorithm software. The model that represents with the smallest percent maximum overshoot among the 16 models was selected as the optimized model. The percent maximum overshoot of the optimized model was about approximately 5% lower than that of the existing model.

  • In this paper, a hydropneumatic modeling and dynamic analysis of a heavy truck semi-active cabin air suspension system is presented. Semi-active cabin air suspension system improves driver's ride comfort by controlling the damping characteristics in accordance with driving situation. So it can reduce vibration between truck frame and cabin. Semi-active cabin air suspension system is consist of air spring, leveling valve and CDC shock absorber, and full cabin system are mathematically modelled using AMESim software. Simulation results of components and full cabin system are compared with experimental data of components and test results of a cabin using 6 axis simulation table. It is found that the simulation results are in good agreements with test results, and the hydropneumatic model can be used well to predict dynamic characterics of heavy truck semi-active cabin air suspension system.

  • The steady three-dimensional numerical analysis on the thermal flow using standard k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was carried out to investigate the air cooling effect of a cooler on the cabin for a commercial vehicle. Here, the heat exchanging method of this cabin cooler uses the cooling effect of a thermoelectric module. In consequence, the air system resistance of a cooler within the cabin is about 12.1 Pa as a static pressure, and then the operating point of a virtual cross-flow fan considering in this study is formed in the comparatively low flowrate region. The discharging air temperature of a cooler is about $14{\sim}15^{\circ}C$. Moreover, the air cooling temperature difference obtained under the outdoor cabin temperature of $40^{\circ}C$ shows about $7{\sim}9^{\circ}C$ in a driver resting space and about $9{\sim}14^{\circ}C$ in the front of a driver's seat including the space of a driver's foot.

  • The main goal of this article is to validate a methodological process in Actran MSC Software, that is based on the Finite Element Method, to evaluate the comfort in the cabin of a regional aircraft and to study the noise and vibrations reduction through the fuselage by the use of innovative materials. In the preliminary work phase, the CAD model of a fuselage section was created representing the typical features and dimensions of an airplane for regional flights. Subsequently, this model has been imported in Actran and the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) inside the cabin has been analyzed; moreover, the noise reduction through the fuselage has been evaluated. An important investigation and data collection has been carried out for the study of the aircraft cabin to make it as close as possible to a real problem, both in geometry and in materials. The mesh of the structure has been built from the CAD model and has been simplified in order to reduce the number of degrees of freedom. Finally, different fuselage configurations in terms of materials are compared: in particular, aluminum, composite and sandwich material with composite skins and poroelastic core are considered.

  • Purpose: In this study, we developed a service quality audit system through analyzing service processes of airlines' cabin service. Methods: Applying the qualitative approach to service processes analysis; 'service blueprint' methodology was developed, providing airlines a blueprint for cabin service and applying the quantitative service quality audit approach called 'walk-through audit', an audit methodology tailored to airline cabin service called PCPA (Passenger Cabin Patrol Audit) was developed. Results: This study tried to apply both the qualitative and the quantitative methodologies to develop service quality audit checklist and tried to develop details to systemize them into a new methodology. Conclusion: This study will be helpful for Airline services improvement by providing 'service quality audit model', so as to find out the problems and share those with the stakeholders.

  • Numerical analysis has been conducted on three-dimensional airflow distribution in the passenger cabin of a high-speed electric train. The types of air distribution systems investigated in the present study were those of TGV and Shinkansen. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations governing the mass and momentum conservations of the airflow in the cabin were solved by using a finite volume method, which are coupled with the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model equations. Predicted velocity distributions were presented on several selected planes in the passenger cabin. The present three-dimensional simulations were found to show the overall features of the airflow in the passenger cabin fairly well. In particular, it was shown that the type of air distribution for Shinkansen was more suitable for a non-smoking cabin than that for TGV.

The heat exchanging method of this cabin cooler is to use the cooling effect of a thermoelectric module. In view of the results so far achieved, the air system resistance of a cabin cooler is about 12.4 Pa as a static pressure, and then the operating point of a cross-flow fan considering in this study is formed in the comparatively low flowrate region. • The velocity and temperature profiles in the cabin of the automobile affect greatly the comfortableness of passengers. In this paper, the three dimensional flow and temperature analysis in the cabin of real automobile have been peformed. The three dimensional Navier-Stokes equation solver was validated by comparing with the other numerical data of a 1/5 scale model. The temperature field of cavity was also analyzed for the validation of energy equation solver. After the code validation, the numerical analysis of real field of flow and temperature of an automobile was peformed and the present result provides the insight of flow and temperature field of the inside of cabin.
