  • Replacement period for vehicle cabin filter of most automobiles is fixed without consideration of conditions of filter and environment. Auto alarm system of replacement period at vehicle cabin filter and interception system of high concentration dust were developed. Control program which is related with the AQS has been developed based on the circuit drive algorithm. This system is expected to be beneficial to passenger's health and to extend the life of the filter which regulates vehicle HVAC system by ventilation mode change at the time of high concentration dust.

  • Pressure drop and fractional collection efficiency of automotive cabin air filters were examined to obtain the basic data for the development of high performance domestic cabin air filters. Pressure drop of MA-V100 was higher than that of VF-V100, and it increased with the air flow rate. VF-V100 had longer time to rise the critical pressure drop than that MA-V100 had. Total collection efficiency of MA-V100 for initial and dust loaded conditions was higher than that of VF-V100. Also, fractional collection efficiency of MA-V100 for the fine particles was higher than that of VF-V100. Particla size distribution for the minimum collection efficiency ranged from 0.02 $\mu$m to 0.04 $\mu$m for MA-V100 and it ranged from 0.02 $\mu$m to 0.15 $\mu$m for VF-V100.

  • This work presents experimental results of filter media test by using particles from $0.02\;to\;0.6{\mu}m$ in diameter and by applying different charging states. In order to investigate the electret filter performance, the collection efficiency and the pressure drop of filter were measured. The face velocities of test filters varied from 2.4 to 20.4 cm/s. Another experiment setup for the cartridge cabin air filter was used to get an collection efficiency in submicron region. After charging level of electret filter severely decreased, the change of collection efficiency was verified. Experimental results show that the reliability of electret filters can be poor in some conditions.

  • In this study, an empirical study was conducted to investigate the clean air delivery rate (CADR) and the proper particle cleaned air delivery per hour (PCH) of the air cleaning device installed in passenger car cabin. Changes in internal particle concentration were measured in the cabins of the pick-up type engine-driven car and the electric vehicle depending on cabin air filters, ventilation modes, and blower settings. In the tested cars, PM2.5 collection efficiency of the HEPA filter was higher than that of the genuine filter. The PM2.5 collection efficiency of each cabin air filter was measured to be similar regardless of the blower setting of the tested cars. This means that the higher the blower setting, the higher the CADR and the PCH. The infiltration rate varies depending on the air tightness of the car. The cabin was more contaminated with particles under driving. From the CADRs measured inside the passenger car cabin, the recirculation mode of HVAC system is a more effective for managing ultrafine particles than the fresh air mode. From a few assumptions, the proper PCH was derived about 0.8 times/min (48 times/h). From this result and several experiments, the proper operation setting of air cleaning device installed inside cars can be found out to control indoor air quality. Also, an appropriate operation settings of HVAC system can be found with considering cooling and heating conditions for thermal comfort in passenger car cabin.

  • An electret filter is composed of permanently charged electret fibers and is widely used in applications requiring high collection efficiency and low-pressure drop. In this work, the fractional collection efficiency of the filter media used in manufacturing cabin air filters was investigated by using highly monodisperse particles ranging from 0.02 to 0.6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter at three different charging states: singly charged, uncharged, and equilibrium charged. The face velocity was varied from 2.4 to 20.4 crus. It was fecund that the fractional efficiency curve fur singly charged particles shows a typical trend that the collection efficiency is minimum at about 0.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter. The fractional efficiency of equilibrium charged particles were not severely varied with the particle diameter. The collection efficiency curve fur uncharged particles has a minimum near 0.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter. Another experiment was conducted for a cartridge filter to examine the effect of charge depletion on the collection efficiency in a cabin air filter. The result shows that the charge depletion of the cartridge filter can significantly lower the collection efficiency.

  • 본 논문에서는 UV-A와 UV-C를 포함하는 복합 파장의 LED 모듈을 적용한 캐빈 필터를 설계 및 제작하고 성능를 시험하였다. 제작한 캐빈 필터의 세균 및 공팜이 살균 시험에서 살균 능력을 확인하였고 유기화합물 분해 시험에서는 특수 챔버를 제작하여 유기물 분해 능력을 검증하였다. 광촉매로 콜케이트를 사용하는 것이 매탈매쉬를 사용하는 것보다 우수한 성능을 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 제작한 캐빈 필터의 살균 및 공기 정화 능력을 실제와 유사한 환경 시험을 통해서 확인하였다.

  • Active control of acoustic noise is an application area of adaptive digital signal processing with increasingly interest along the last year. This work studies the implementation of the multichannel LMS filter and the application of this algorithm for the reduction of the noise inside a vechicle cabin using a number of 'secondary sources' drived by adaptive filtering of a reference noise source. Firstly, we propose the use of an adaptive method for the time-varient optimal convergence factor. Secondly, we propose the use of adaptive delayed inverse model to estimate the elastic-acoustic transfer function presented in vechicle cabin. The original, primary source is often periodic, with a known fundamental frequency. A suitably filtered reference signal can thus be used to drive the secondary sources. An algorithm is presented for adapting the coefficients of an FIR filter feeding such a secondary source in such a way as to minimize the output of a suitably placed microphone. In this algorithm, the coefficients of adaptive filter driving an array of secondary sources can be adapted to minimize the sum of the squares of the outputs of a number of error microphones. The multichannel LMS algorithm displays that such an algorithm is considered suitable to used for the global suppression of noise in vehicle cabin.

니들펀치 공정에 의한 캐빈에어필터 여재의 제조 (Cabin Air Filter Media Produced by Needle Punching Process)

  • 화학적 바인더를 사용하여 활성탄을 고정화시킨 필터 여재(filter media)와 바인더를 사용하지 않고 니들펀치 공정으로 제조한 필터여재를 비교해 보았다. 제조된 콤비네이션 필터는 실차의 내용적과 비슷한 크기의 챔버 내부의 차량용 송풍기에 장착하여 가스제거 효과를 평가하여 보았다. 화학적 바인더를 사용한 캐빈에어필터는 바인더에 의해 활성탄의 흡착기공이 막혀 아세트알데히드 제거 효과가 감소하리라는 예측과 반대로 니들펀칭 공정으로 제조한 필터에 비해 아세트알데히드 1 min 및 30 min 제거효율이 더 높게 나타났다. 니들펀칭 공정에 따르면 활성탄의 소수성결합력(hydrophobic interaction)으로 인해 화학적 바인더를 사용한 캐빈에어필터보다 공극면적(void area)이 상대적으로 더 넓은 것으로 나타났다.

  • An electret filter is composed of permanently charged electet fibers and is widely used in applications requiring high collection efficiency and low-pressure drop. In this work, the collection efficiency of the filter media used in manufacturing cabin air filters was investigated by using poly-disperse particles when submicron particles are loaded. Long-term experiments were conducted by applying different charging states, which are spray electrification and charge equilibrium by bipolar ionization. In order to investigate on the effect of particle loading in filter media, NaCl particles were generated from 0.1% and 1% solutions by an atomizer. In NaCl 0.1%, the collection efficiency of electret filter decreased and then did not change in equilibrium state. In the case of relative larger particles of NaCl 1%, collection efficiency for the equilibrium charged particles increases due to the particle loading on the filter fibers. Particles charged by spray electrification are small in collection efficiency after equilibrium state and increase of filter media's pressure drop was very low in comparison of the equilibrium charged particles.
