Active belite cement clinkers were synthsized by using natural raw materials with borax and calcium phosphate ({{{{ {Ca }_{3 }( {PO}_{4}) }}2) In both case {{{{alpha ^、 {C }_{2 }S }} were formed but borax was more efficient. The cement syn-thesized with the addition of borax was hydrated with the addition of anhydrite(5 wt%) and slag(30wt%, 40wt% 50wt%) The addition of 50wt% slag with anhydrite was good for strength development in 7days and the compressive strength was developed to twice than no addition of slag at 28 days strength.
This paper demonstrates the prototype implementation of existing GIS operations using an integrated CA-GIS system where a CA simulator serve an analytical engine for GIS and compares the performance of the operations implemented here with the original ones. In addition, some new GIS operations that are not available in contemporary GIS are implemented and tested within the integrated system. It has shown that most of the local and focal operations were successfully implemented with CA-GIS and some operations written with the CA simulator showed better performance. New types of operations such as various shape filters, time-series filter, and diffusion operators were able to be implemented using the CA-GIS, which appears to be significant to enhance deficient analytical capabilities of contemporary GIS.

Magnesium alloys of AZ31 containing (0.5, 1, 1.5) wt.% of initially added CaO particles were cast in air, and their oxidation behavior was studied at $450-650^{\circ}C$ in air. The initially added CaO particles either decomposed to dissolve in the ${\alpha}$-Mg matrix or precipitated as $Al_2Ca$ along the grain boundaries of the matrix during casting. The ignition temperatures were $565.4^{\circ}C$ for AZ31, $608.6^{\circ}C$ for AZ31+0.5 wt.%CaO, and $689.7^{\circ}C$ for AZ31+1 wt.%CaO. No ignition occurred for AZ31+1.5 wt.%CaO up to $700^{\circ}C$, displaying good oxidation resistance. The CaO-rich oxide scales that formed on the surface of the AZ31+(0.5, 1, 1.5) wt.%CaO alloys improved the oxidation resistance of AZ31 alloys.
Our previous report demonstrated that chick myoblasts are equipped with $Ca^{2+}$-permeable stretchactivated channels and $Ca^{2+}-activated$ potassium channels ($K_{Ca}$), and that hyperpolarization-induced by $K_{Ca}$ channels provides driving force for $Ca^{2+}$ influx through the stretch-activated channels into the cells. Here, we showed that acetylcholine (ACh) also hyperpolarized the membrane of cultured chick myoblasts, suggesting that nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) may be another pathway for $Ca^{2+}$ influx. Under cell-attatched patch configuration, ACh increased the open probability of $K_{Ca}$ channels from 0.007 to 0.055 only when extracellular $Ca^{2+}$ was present. Nicotine, a nAChR agonist, increased the open probability of $K_{Ca}$ channels from 0.008 to 0.023, whereas muscarine failed to do so. Since the activity of $K_{Ca}$ channel is sensitive to intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ level, nAChR seems to be capable of inducing $Ca^{2+}$ influx. Using the $Ca^{2+}$ imaging analysis, we were able to provide direct evidence that ACh induced $Ca^{2+}$ influx from extracellular solution, which was dramatically increased by valinomycin-mediated hyperpolarization. In addition, ACh hyperpolarized the membrane potential from $-12.5{\pm}3$ to $-31.2{\pm}5$ mV by generating the outward current through $K_{Ca}$ channels. These results suggest that activation of nAChR increases $Ca^{2+}$ influx, which activates $K_{Ca}$ channels, thereby hyperpolarizing the membrane potential in chick myoblasts.
The effect of Ca2+ on auxin-induced ehtylene production in etiolated mungbean (Vigna radiata W.) hypocotyls was studied. Auxin-induced ethylene production by mungbean seedlings which had been germinated in the presence of 5-10mM Ca2+ (High Ca2+ ; HC) is greater than that by seedlings which had been germinated in distilled water (Low Ca2+ ; LC). The effect of Ca2+ on auxin-induced ethylene production was greatly increased after 12hr of incubation period. The stimulation of auxin-induced ethylene production by Ca2+ was specific, since divalent cations, such as Mg2+ and Mn2+ did not enhance auxin-induced ethylene production. Calcium also promoted ethylene evoluation induced by methionine and 1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid(ACC). The effect of Ca2+ on auxin-induced ethylene production was not caused by increase in free IAA or ACC contents of hypocotyl tissue. Dimethyl sulfoxide and Triton X-100, that disrupts the emembranes, inhibited ethylene production to a greater extent in LC segments than in HC segments. Addition of Ca2+ to the incubation medium for LC segments resulted in enchancement of ethylene production probalby because the membrane integrity is supported under these conditions. Comparison of activity of Ethylene Forming Enzyme(EFE) in LC and HC hypocotyl segments indicated that the enzyme activity of HC was about 2 times higher than that of L.C. It is suggested that Ca2+ increases the activity of plasma membrane-bound EFE through its stabilizing effect onn the membrane, which in turn brings about promotion of ethylene production.
The mechanism of melanogenesis induced by cyclosporin A (CsA) was investigated in B16 melanoma cells. CsA stimulated the production of melanin in a dose-dependent manner in the cells. In addition, CsA increased intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ concentration in a dose-related fashion. Treatment with BAPTA/AM, an intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ chelator significantly inhibited the CsA-induced intracellular melanin synthesis. CsA profoundly induced $Cl^-$ efflux, which was significantly blocked by niflumic acid (NFA) and flufenamic acid (FFA), specific and nonspecific inhibitors of $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^-$ channels (CaCCs), respectively. Furthermore, these inhibitors of CaCCs significantly inhibited the CsA-induced stimulation of melanin synthesis. Taken together, these results suggest that the activation of CaCCs may play an important role in the CsA-induced stimulation of melanin synthesis in B16 cells. These results further suggest that CaCCs may be a good target for the management of hyperpigmentation of the skin reported in the patients treated with CsA.

We investigated the effects of intermittent hydrostatic pressure with various duration of resting period on changes in calcium ($Ca^{2+}$) concentration and adhesive forces of cells on substrates. The quantitive adhesive forces of cells were measured under various resting periods. When the pressure applied to the cells, the concentration of $Ca^{2+}$ increased. Under intermittent hydrostatic pressure, the concentration of $Ca^{2+}$ was maintained under a resting period of 15 min, while it was not decreased with other resting periods of less than 15 min. With a resting period of 15 min, the magnitudes of adhesive forces were significantly increase. In addition, the adhesive forces were measured with and without $Ca^{2+}$ chelating agents to evaluate the effect of $Ca^{2+}$ on cell adhesiveness. When $Ca^{2+}$ ions were chelated, the adhesive forces dramatically decreased, even under intermittent hydrostatic pressure. We conclude that $Ca^{2+}$ plays an crucial role in modulating the adhesive forces of cells, and that the concentration of $Ca^{2+}$ can be increased by intermittent hydrostatic stimuli.
The effects of $(1R,9S)-\beta-hydrastine$ hydrochloride (BHSH) on $Ca^{2+}$ transport in rat pheochromocytoma PC12 cells were investigated. In the presence of external $Ca^{2+}$, BHSH at $100{\mu}M$ inhibited $K^+$ (56mM)-induced dopamine release, and $K^+-induced$$Ca^{2+}$ influx and a sustained rise of $[Ca^{2+}]_i$. In addition, BHSH at 100 f.!M reduced the sustained rise of $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ elicited by 20 mM caffeine, but not by $1{\mu}M$ thapsigargin, in presence of external $Ca^{2+}$. These results suggest that BHSH inhibited $K^+-induced$ dopamine release and $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ influx, and store-operated $Ca^{2+}$ channels activated by caffeine, but not by thapsigargin, in PC12 cells.

From the combined studies of STM and synchrotron photoemission, it has been found that a $CaF_2$ molecule is dissociated to Ca and F atoms on the $Si(114)-2{\times}1$ held at $500^{\circ}C$ at the initial adsorption stage. The Ca atoms form isolated and unique shapes of silicide molecules as shown in Fig. (a), while the F atoms are desorbed from the surface. On the other hand, beyond a $CaF_2$ coverage of 0.3 monolayer, as shown in Fig. (b), in addition to these silicide molecules, a 1-D facet [composed of (113) and (115) faces] adjacent to an etch pit has been observed, and F atoms are also detected from photoemission. These results imply that F atoms act as an etchant on Si(114) and CaF is adsorbed selectively on the (113) face of this facet. From the present studies, it has been concluded that, an insulating $CaF_2$ layer like that on Si(111) cannot be formed on Si(114), but a CaF-decorated nanofacet with a high aspect-ratio can be grown.
The mutual relationships of boron, Ca and sucrose were studied in relation to in vitro pollen growth and pollen bursting, by using conventient pollen from Crinum asiaticum for experiment. Crinum pollen are paticularly sensitive to Ca. Addition of very small amount of boron to cultural media was apparently synergistic to the action of sucrose and Ca in pollen germination and tube elongation. This action was extended to a higher level of boron concentraton. Combined application of boron, Ca and sucrose always gave the better results in pollen growth and protection against pollen bursting much more than when used singly. This indicated that there is a direct relationship between better growth of pollen and increased rigidity of pollen cell wall. A higher level of Ca concentration tended to increase bursting rate of pollen grains and decrease that of pollen tubes, while boron always depressed the rate of bursting. This was considered due to increased failure in pollen germination at high level of Ca that favors pollen tube elongation. The fact that Ca show an antagonistic effect on the suppressive action of high level of boron in pollen growth and shows different effect in response to pollen bursting from boron, suggested mode of Ca and boron action in the presence of sucrose is quiate different, although to increase in rigidity of pollen cell wall by them is in common nature. It was postulated therefore that Ca acts on pectins of pollen cell wall largely as "non-metabolic" and boron as "metabolic" promoter is pollen growth and protecting pollen bursting, since boron and Ca have common nature in strengthening the pollen cell wall but act differently.but act differently.
