An Economic Feasibility Analysis of Custom Work Service - Case of Bonghwang-myeon, Naju City - (농작업 대행사업 경제성 분석 - 나주시 봉황면 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study analyzed the feasibility of custom work service to deal with the imbalance of farm labor supply due to population aging. The economic feasibility analysis is based on the case of Bonghwang-myeon in Naju-si, where the majority of farm work is entrusted to local agricultural cooperative. To assess the project profitability and economic feasibility based on the projected cash flow for the next ten years, Return On Investment (ROI), Net Present Value (NPV), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of the projects were calculated. The results showed that ROI is estimated at 13.7%, and NPV and IRR are KRW 1,504,932,000 and 15.6%, respectively, with a discount rate of 4.5%, indicating a good enough profitability. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis with government support as part of an assumption showed that without the support, NPV turns negative, implying that the project is not profitable, and that government support for at least 30% of the cost is needed to secure the economic feasibility of a project. Hence, to promote agricultural work entrustment, it is necessary for the government to partly support the agricultural machinery and facility costs, which require a considerable amount of initial investment.

Custom Officers' Readiness for Sales and Service Tax Implementation in Malaysia: An Organisational Readiness for Change Perspective

  • This study examines the factors influencing custom officers' readiness for the Sales and Service Tax (SST) implementation in Malaysia. Specifically, this study examines the factors stipulated in the Theory of Organisational Readiness namely, change valence, task knowledge, and resource availability on the customs officers' readiness in terms of change commitment and change efficacy for SST 2.0 implementation. This study utilizes the questionnaire survey distributed to employees of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) that have undergone a significant change of tax regime from Goods and Service Tax (GST) to SST 2.0. The results show that all three factors significantly and positively influence the customs officers' readiness in terms of change commitment and change efficacy for SST 2.0 implementation in Malaysia. The findings in this study indicate that to ensure smooth SST 2.0 implementation, it is important for the customs department to give attention to the perception of the officers and provide the necessary resources. The findings of this study could assist RMCD and other custom agencies to take into account factors that influence readiness for change which indirectly affect job responsibility and performance of the organization.

  • Deep learning-based computer vision applications in the field of object segmentation take a transfer learning method using hyperparameters and models pretrained and distributed by STOA techniques to improve performance. Custom datasets used in this process require a lot of resources, such as time and labeling, in labeling tasks to generate Ground Truth information. In this paper, we present an automatic labeling construction method using object segmentation techniques so that resources such as time and labeling can be used less to build custom datasets used in deep learning neural networks.

Comparison and analysis of CNN models to Address Skewed Data Issues in Alzheimer's Diagnosis

  • Alzheimer's disease is a form of dementia that can be managed by identifying the disease in its initial phases. In recent times, numerous computer-aided diagnostic techniques utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have demonstrated promising outcomes in the categorization of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The OASIS MRI dataset was utilized which has 80,000 brain MRI images. It is suggested to resample this dataset as it is highly imbalanced and posed a challenge in preventing bias toward majority class while employing the convolution neural network (CNN) model for classification. This paper examines and extracts patterns and features of 461 patients taken from the OASIS dataset. The research has aimed at utilizing the Base Model of EfficientNetV2B0 with custom classification layers, and simplified custom CNN model, also exploring Multi-class classification across four distinct classes: Non-Demented, Very Mild Demented, Mild Demented, Moderate Demented in addition to binary classification as Non-Demented and treating other classes as demented. Furthermore, different dataset sizes were experimented with 5,000 and 20,000 for each class to be discussed in this paper. The experiment results indicate that EfficientNetV2B0 achieved the accuracy of 98% in binary classification, 99% in multiclass. Whereas custom sequential CNN model in multiclass classification presents the accuracy of 96% for 20,000 dataset size and 98% for 80,000 dataset size.

Design of an Asymmetric-custom-surface Imaging Optical System for Two-dimensional Temperature-field Measurement

  • In response to the difficulty of synchronously obtaining multiwavelength images for fast two-dimensional (2D) temperature measurement, a multispectral framing imaging optical system is designed, based on the segmented-aperture imaging method and asymmetric surface shape. The system adopts a common-aperture four-channel array structure to synchronously collect multiwavelength temperature-field images. To solve the problem of asymmetric aberration caused by being off-axis, a model of the relationship between incident and outgoing rays is established to calculate the asymmetric custom surface. The designed focal length of the optical system is 80 mm, the F-number is 1:3.8, and the operating wavelength range is 0.48-0.65 ㎛. The system is divided into four channels, corresponding to wavelengths of 0.48, 0.55, 0.58, and 0.65 ㎛ respectively. The modulation transfer function value of a single channel lens is higher than 0.6 in the full field of view at 35 lp/mm. The experimental results show that the asymmetric-custom-surface imaging system can capture clear multiwavelength images of a temperature field. The framing imaging system can capture clear images of multiwavelength temperature fields, with high consistency in images of different wavelengths. The designed optical system can provide reliable multiwavelength image data for 2D temperature-field measurement.

A Study on Educational Tasks about the Succession Patterns of Dietary Culture in Korea and Japan (식생활문화(食生活文化) 계승(繼承)의 현상(現狀)에 관한 한(韓).일(日) 양국(兩國)의 교육적(敎育的)인 과제연구(課題硏究))

  • This study was carried out to investigate the succession patterns of dietary culture and to find out all the educational problems with female college students in both countries as the central figure. The results are as follows. The degree of knowledge acquisition about food of annual custom is 58% in Korea and 72% in Japan. What the rate of knowledge acquisition is high among both countries’ similar food of annual custom are ${\ulcorner}Seolnal(Gantan){\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner}Sambok(Doyonohi){\lrcorner}$, and ${\ulcorner}Chuseok(Tsukimi){\lrcorner}$. Cooking experience of festive food is 45% in Korea and 58% in Japan. Among both countries' common festive food what cooking experience is high in Korea are ${\ulcorner}Seolnal{\lrcorner}$ and ${\ulcorner}Chuseok{\lrcorner}$, which are over 97%. In Japan those are ${\ulcorner}Gantan{\lrcorner}$ and ${\ulcorner}Tsukimi{\lrcorner}$, which are over 80%. Regarding learning experience of festive food ${\ulcorner}Seolnal{\lrcorner}$ and ${\ulcorner}Gantan{\lrcorner}$ are beyond 80% and ${\ulcorner}Chuseok{\lrcorner}$ is 88%. In Japan ${\ulcorner}Tsukimi{\lrcorner}$ is 71% and ${\ulcorner}Omisoka{\lrcorner}$ is 85%. The learning sources of food of annual custom are parents and schools in common, and Korea has another learning sources, mass communication. Festive food that is cooked shows much similarity between two countries, but each country has originality. As common food of annual custom ${\ulcorner}Seolnal{\lrcorner}$ has nine kinds of food, ${\ulcorner}Sambok{\lrcorner}$ has three kinds, and ${\ulcorner}Chuseok{\lrcorner}$ has five kinds in Korea In Japan ${\ulcorner}Gantan{\lrcorner}$ has fourteen kinds of food, ${\ulcorner}Doyonohi{\lrcorner}$ has three kinds, and ${\ulcorner}Tsukimi{\lrcorner}$ has five kinds. The successive consciousness about food of annual custom is concentrated on a specific food in Korea. And Japanese consciousness is shown as an expansion-type on diverse food. Korean successive consciousness is 69.4% and Japanese consciousness is 82%. The higher the rate of knowledge acquisition, cooking experience, and learning experience are in both countries, the higher successive consciousness is. So we must note for the importance of home and school’s education.

A Study on Convention of the Fantasy Cartoon (판타지 만화의 컨벤션 연구)

  • 'Convention' refers to custom and practice as the dictionary definition; it means genre custom. Readers feel intimate with the pattern and grammar that a genre has, and they participate in the work, predicting and expecting the next in the 'truism.' So, all popular arts targeting the public have genre custom-that is, convention. A cartoon (comics) is one of the popular arts whose convention is developed most to the extent that its law comes across our mind just with the genre's name such as 'sports comics', 'detective comics' and 'romance comics.' However, although the fantasy cartoon is a genre that has been loved for a long time, it is one of the cartoon genres that has rarely been studied on its convention. There are several reasons for the lack of studies on convention of the fantasy cartoon. The most fundamental reason may be that its basic concept has not been properly prescribed. There are some precedent studies prescribing the fantasy cartoon as an extension of the fantastic literature, but it is hard to analyze convention that only fantasy cartoon has, because its range is too wide. So, this study considered J.R.R. Tolkein's 'Lord of the Ring' had made the genre custom of fantasy novel and fantasy comics, and classified concept and type of the fantasy cartoon. And through analysis of various cases, it investigated convention of the fantasy cartoon into 6 types. Genre is not the complete format. It is subdivided and differentiated, and it becomes one with other genres and makes a new one. For that reason, there exist limitations always when we study a genre convention of a certain genre. This study confesses in advance that it also has limitations as it just suggests convention of the general fantasy cartoon.

Design of Dead-end Membrane Module with Increased Permeate Flux by Natural Convection Instability Flow (자연대류 불안정 흐름에 의해 투과량을 증가시킨 전량여과 막모듈의 설계)

  • The permeate flux increments of a natural convection instability flow (NCIF) caused by the change of inclined angles ($0{\sim}180^{\circ}$) to gravity of the commercial membrane module were tested in the dead-end membrane filtration of BSA protein solution. The NCIF are more generated as the inclined angle increased from $0^{\circ}$ to $180^{\circ}$, and the occurred NCIF enhances permeate flux. However, the commercial module can only generate NCIF by completely removing the air gap in module. Since the custom design module designed in this study is permeated in a crossward direction ($90^{\circ}$), NCIF is always generated even if there is the air gap in module. The results of membrane filtration of BSA and dextran solutions using a custom design module showed that the flux in the crossward direction is increased to about 3.8 times for BSA solution and 1.8 times for dextran solution after two hours of operation due to the occurrence of NCIF. Also, NCIF generation is continued during 20 hours filtration of BSA solution, increasing the permeate flux to about 7.5 times. Since the custom design module with a permeation in the crossward direction and NCIF is always generated within the module, so it is possible to expect an increase in permeate flux due to the suppression of fouling formation, and thus to be utilized as a superb dead-end membrane module.
