Due to its capability to resist jamming signals, chirp spread spectrum (CSS) technique has attracted much attention in the field of wireless communications. However, there has been little rigorous analysis for the performance of CSS systems in the presence of jamming signals. In this paper, thus, we present analytic results on the performance of a CSS system: specifically, symbol error rate (SER) expressions are derived for a CSS M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) system in the presence of broadband and tone jamming signals, respectively. The numerical results show that the empirical SER closely agree with the analytic result.

For effective maintenance for web applications, it is necessary to improve the readability of the source pages. Though CSS(Cascading Style Sheet) belongs to pure presentation layer in various web constituent entities, CSS codes are often used by inlning and they are sometimes automatically generated by web development tools. The existing studies on CSS optimization have only focused on reducing the size of codes and they did not incorporate the readability or the reusability. In this paper, CSS codes are structured and several criteria for readability are defined to improve the readabilty and reusability. Based on them, the algorithm to improve the readability are proposed. Finally, case study are presented to show the applicability of the proposed algorithm.
In this paper, we represented the HTML5 webpage in 3D space for the 3D stereoscopic display by using CSS3 stylesheet; browser-based declarative contents, and proposed CSS Stereo 3DTV Profile. First, we suggested various webpage separation methods for reconstructing webpages in the 3D space effectively. Next, we suggested 3D view volume setting method by using extended CSS3 modules. And then, pre-processor converts sample contents which is written extended CSS stylesheet into the present CSS stylesheet for displaying in the webkit based browser. For the resulting stereoscopic images, we developed a rendering engine emulator which is implemented in JavaScript for simple display in the web browser, which produced dual images from virtual left and right-eyed cameras. And we have checked the sample contents displayed on the 3DTV.

In this paper, we propose the Tile Based Frequency Hopping - Chirp Spread Spectrum(TBFH-CSS) technique, which has excellent Low Probability of Intercept(LPI)/Anti-Jamming(AJ) performance. Conventional Frequency Hopping - Chirp Spread Spectrum(FH-CSS) technique uses only single chirp signal, that makes the follower jammer easy to find and jam. However, proposed TBFH-CSS uses various kind of chirp signals which are generated according to the structure of basis tile, it is composed the basis time unit and the basis bandwidth unit. The TBFH-CSS signal has variety signal period and signal bandwidth. Therefore, the follower jammer hard to find and difficult to jam the TBFH-CSS signal. We analysis the LPI/AJ performance of the TBFH-CSS technique when the follow jamming attack exist and compared with the performance of the conventional FH-CSS technique. From the analysis, we can see the proposed TBFH-CSS technique has better LPI/AJ performance than conventional technique.

Convergence of IT and BT is considered in many area, especially in medical care industry. The example of this trend is a capsule endoscope. But in a capsule endoscope, communication through human body has a few restrictions. At first, the transmit power should be limited not to have a bad effect on human organs and for the battery capacity. Second, the channel characteristic of human body has not been examined exactly. Third, general modulation / demodulation techniques which require a channel estimation cannot be used because of battery limit. There also may be a lot of interference signals because a capsule endoscope uses UWB bandwidth. In this paper, we introduce Chirp Spread Spectrum Differential Binary Phase Shift Keying(CSS-DBPSK) and propose Chirp Spread Spectrum On-Off Keying(CSS-OOK) which don't require a channel estimation and robust to interference signals. Using CSS-DBPSK or CSS-OOK, we can get 5 dB or 2~3 dB of Eb/N0 gain at 10-5 target BER. And if there are interference signals, those gains of CSS-DBPSK and CSS-OOK are increased.

Purpose: Child safety seats (CSS) are critical for the protection of children, in case of motor vehicle accidents. Although the national legislation mandates that all newborns must be placed in an appropriately installed CSS during transportation, people often do not perceive the importance of CSS and do not use it as recommended. The purpose of this survey was to understand the use of CSS for the safe transport of newborns from hospital to home. Methods: We interviewed parents of newborn infants, using a structured questionnaire, at the time of their discharge from Cheil General Hospital & Women's Health Care Center, between May 2014 and July 2014. Results: A total of 403 participants were interviewed. The rate of CSS use was only 14.9%. Overall, 76.4% of the families interviewed were not aware about the recommendations on CSS use for newborns when travelling in a car. The provision of education on using CSS significantly influenced their rate of use. Parents who were educated about mounting the CSS in a car used it more as compared with others (25.7% vs. 12.2%) (P=0.002). Furthermore, if parents had heard about the importance or necessity of CSS, they used it more than others did (19.5% vs. 10.6%, P=0.032). Conclusion: Despite the legal regulation, most parents transport their newborn infants without a CSS while traveling from hospital to their home. The rate of CSS use was influenced by parental education and their knowledge about its necessity. Education programs for parents must be reinforced to increase the CSS use.
L2 learners deal with communication problems encountered during the course of their oral communication by employing what are known as communication strategies(CSs). As CSs play a significant role in communication and language learning, identifying CSs that facilitate communication has become important in L2 research. However, there have been some controversies about how to identify CSs, especially about data sources: conversation data, retrospective interview data, or combining two types of data. Drawing on the advantages of converged data, this study aimed to identify CSs that L2 learners use in their English communication through a convergence analysis of data. In this qualitative case study, the data were collected from Korean L2 learners' conversations and retrospective verbal reports in stimulated recall interviews. Using a data convergence approach, various CSs were identified: definition replacement CSs, message change CSs, time-gaining CSs, and comprehension CSs. This study suggests the effectiveness of CSs in handling L2 communication problems and the usefulness of data convergence in L2 CS research.
Demand for text arranged in a circular shape is increasing as devices with round display such as smart watches are now being actively released. Data visualization field is receiving a lot of attention as the era of big data evolves. However, current web standard does not support the drawing of circular text. Therefore, the objective of this study was to extend CSS3 specifications to have circular text layout in web documents. In addition, we implemented a preprocessor so that contents made with CSS3 extensions could be shown in existing browsers. To confirm the wide expression range of CSS3 extension, we prepared some sample contents and analyzed them.

The use of chopped sugarcane stalk (CSS) as a roughage for lactating cows was examined using four Holstein crossbred cows in a private dairy farm in Khon Kaen, Thailand, in comparison with rice straw (RS), which is the conventional roughage in the dry season in the region. Cows were subjected to the following two dietary treatments: Diet 1) RS with commercial concentrate feed, and Diet 2) CSS and RS with commercial concentrate feed. The diet was switched over every 3 weeks. The amount of concentrate was determined by the experience of the owner of the cows. RS and CSS were given ad libitum. There was no difference in milk production between two groups, although the total DMI was less in cows fed CSS. Solid-not-fat (SNF) content in milk was significantly higher in the cows given CSS. The NEFA content was significantly lower in the animals given CSS, which suggested that cows given only RS as roughage would be suffering from energy malnutrition. Therefore, it was considered that CSS feeding improved energy supply, which resulted in higher SNF in milk. In the nutritional point of view, the present study clearly showed CSS can be used as a roughage for dairy cows in the dry season.

The chirp spread spectrum (CSS) technique that transmits data signal by using a chirp signal is often used for maritime wireless communication systems such as sound detection radar systems for submarines. However, maritime multipath environment could reduce the data rate of the CSS system. To tackle the problem, an overlap-based CSS transmission scheme is proposed and analyzed in this paper: Based on the approximated Gaussian Q function, we derive a closed form expression of the bit error rate (BER) of the proposed overlap-based CSS system and investigate the mathematical relationship between the number of overlaps and the intersymbol interference (ISI).
