CR-39를 사용한 제주도지역 토양중의 라돈측정 (Measurement of Radon Concentration in the near-surface Soil Gas by CR-39 Detectors)

  • CR-39 검출기를 부착한 두 종류의 라돈컵을 사용하여 토양중의 라돈 농도를 제주도 일원의 4개지역(제주시, 서귀포시, 대정읍, 성산읍)에서 측정하였다. 본 실험에서는 CR-39 검출기의 최적 부식조건을 $70^{\circ}C$, 6.25N NaOH, 5.5시간으로 결정하였으며, 두 종류의 라돈컵을 지름 15cm, 깊이 50m인 두개의 땅구덩이에 각각 설치하였는데 이중 밀폐된 라돈컵은 구덩이 바닥의 토양 위에, 개방된 라돈컵은 지지대를 이용하여 바닥에서 45cm높이에 설치하였다. CR-39의 부식조건으로는 $70^{\circ}C$의 6.25N NaOH 용액에서 5.5시간 동안 처리하였으며 환산인자로 $1track/mm^{2}{\cdot}30day=0.059Bq/\ell$을 얻었다. 1987년 5월 1일부터 1988년 4월 23일까지 측정한 결과 30일간의 평균 라돈 농도의 연평균치는 개방된 라돈컵과 밀폐된 라돈컵에서 각각 $3.1{\pm}0.3Bq/{\ell}$$1.7{\pm}0.2Bq/\ell$였다.

렌즈에서 UV 차단효과의 평가방법 및 적용 (The Estimation Method and Application of UV-cut effect in Lens)

  • 렌즈에서 UV-A선의 차단효율을 평가하기 위해 320~400nm 영역에서 광 투과율을 측정하였다. 기준 CR-39와 sample을 320~400nm 영역에서 광 투과율을 적분하여 면적을 구하였으며, 이들의 면적 대비로 UV-A 차단효율 factor ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$를 설정하였다. CR-39 렌즈의 질대 차단효율 ${\alpha}$ CR=0.59 값을 얻었다. UV-A 차단효과를 평가할 렌즈의 절대차단효율 ${\alpha}$ 값이면 상대차단효율 ${\beta}$ 값은 $1.69{\alpha}$ 값을 얻었다. 절대적 및 상대적 UV 제거 지수는 각각 $a=(1-{\alpha}){\times}100%$, $b=(1-{\beta}){\times}100%$을 이용하여 얻었다.

  • 분광광도법으로 칼라렌즈 내 염색제에 대한 흡광도를 연구하였다. 사용된 렌즈와 염색제는 각각 CR-39 플라스틱 광학렌즈와 Ons & $Lavas^{(R)}$의 Blue 1800 이다. 칼라렌즈 내 염색제의 흡광도는 칼라렌즈와 CR-39 렌즈의 흡광도의 차를 이용하여 구하였으며, 염색제의 평균농도는 칼라렌즈와 CR-39 렌즈의 질량차로부터 구하였다. 칼라렌즈에 침투된 염색제에 대하여도 흡광도와 평균농도 사이에 Beer 법칙이 성립하였고, 검정선의 기울기로부터 흡광계수는 a=0.983 $Lg^{-1}cm^{-1}$임을 알아내었다.

착색렌즈의 UV 차단효과와 UV TESTER 평가 분석 (The Analysis of the UV cut-off effect of tinted lens and the Characteristic of UV tester)

  • 무코팅 CR-39 안경렌즈를 brown, green, blue 계열의 색으로 시간별로 착색하여 착색농도에 따른 UV차단효과를 관찰하였다. CR-39 안경렌즈의 착색농도에 따른 UV 스펙트럼은 먼저 분광광도계(spectrophotometer)로 분석하였고, 그 후 시중에서 많이 사용하는 400nm UV 차단 측정기의 투과수치와 비교하였다. 그 결과 착색 농도가 짙어짐에 따라 UV 차단 효과가 점점 증가하였고, 분광광도계의 UV 스펙트럼에서 400nm 기준 UV 투과률이 약 5% 미만의 경우에는 시중에서 많이 사용하는 400nm UV 차단 측정기의 투과수치에서는 0%로 됨을 확인했다.

Fabrication and Characteristics of Indium Tin Oxide Films on CR39 Substrate for OTFT

  • The Indium tin oxide (ITO) films were deposited on CR39 substrate using DC magnetron sputtering. ITO thin films deposited at room temperature because CR39 substrates its glass-transition temperature of is $130^{\circ}C$. ITO thin films used bottom and top electrode and for organic thin film transparent transistor.(OTFT) ITO thin film electrodes electrical properties and optical transparency properties in the visible wavelength range (300 - 800 nm) strongly dependent on volume of oxygen percent. For the optimum resistivity and transparency of ITO thin film electrode achieved with a 75 W plasma power, 10 % volume of oxygen and a 27 nm/min deposition rate. Above 85 % transparency in the visible wavelength range (300 - 800 nm) measured without post annealing process and $9.83{times}10{-4}{\Omega}cm$ a low resistivity was measured thickness of 300 nm.

The optimum resistivity and transparency of ITO thin film electrode was achieved with a 75 W plasma power, 10 % volume of oxygen and a 27 nm/min deposition rate. Above 85% transparency in the visible wavelength range (300-800 nm) was measured without post annealing process, and resistivity as low as $9.83{\times}^{TM}10^{-4}{\Omega}$ cm was measured at thickness of 300 nm.

Characterization of saturation of CR-39 detector at high alpha-particle fluence

  • The occurrence of saturation in the CR-39 detector reduces and limits its detection dynamic range; nevertheless, this range could be extended using spectroscopic techniques and by measuring the net bulk rate of the saturated CR-39 detector surface. CR-39 detectors were irradiated by 1.5 MeV high alpha-particle fluence varying from $0.06{\times}10^8$ to $7.36{\times}10^8\;alphas/cm^2$ from Am-241 source; thereafter, they were etched in a 6.25N NaOH solution at a temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ for different durations. Net bulk etch rate measurement of the 1.5 MeV alpha-irradiated CR-39 detector surface revealed that rate increases with increasing etching time and reaches its maximum value at the end of the alpha-particle range. It is also correlated with the alpha-particle fluence. The measurements of UV-Visible (UV-Vis) absorbance at 500 and 600 nm reveal that the absorbance is linearly correlated with the fluence of alpha particles at the etching times of 2 and 4 hour. For extended etching times of 6, 10, and 14.5 hour, the absorbance is saturated for fluence values of $4.05{\times}10^8$, $5.30{\times}10^8$, and $7.36{\times}10^8\;alphas/cm^2$. These new methods pave the way to extend the dynamic range of polymer-based solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTDs) in measurement of high fluence of heavy ions as well as in radiation dosimetry.

오염된 하천 저니에 함유된 중금속 존재형태 (Speciation of Heavy Metals in Sediments of the Polluted River)

  • The species of four heavy metals (Cr, Cu, Ni and Pb) associated with sediments (viz exchangeable, carbonates, reducible, organic and residual fractions) were determined with respect to the particle sizes and depths at four locations of the lower Kumho river. In the exchangeable fraction, 3.7~19.52% of Ni and 2.8~14.81% of Pb were found, and in the carbonates fraction 2.12~19.43% of Ni and 1.39~15.42% of Pb were found. The reducible fraction retained about 8.66~44.93% of Cr, 0.41~9.79% of Cu, 17.38~35.74% of Ni and 9.5~44.89% of Pb. In the organic fraction about 0~21.06% of Cr, 2.95~35.74% of Cu, 0~14.66% of Ni and 0~10.65% of Pb were found. The residual fraction retained about 52.6~83.53% of Cr, 63.86~86.39% of Cu, 39.66~66.16% of Ni and 39.97~71.75% of Pb. The order of release or mobility of heavy metals was Ni > Pb > Cr > Cu. Mobile fraction of heavy metals by particle sizes (1.0~0.5 mm and 0.5~0.25 mm) was found to be higher in particle sizes 1.0~0.5 mm than that of 0.5~0.25 mm. The release or mobility of heavy metals by depths (0~5 cm, 5~10 cm and 10~15 cm) was found to be higher in the upper sediments than in the lower sediments, except Cu.
