Induction generator is always required reactive power in order to generate a rotating magnetic field as an inductive load. The reactive power must be continuously supplied to the induction generator as well as load of distribution system from the power supply side. So the power factor of the power supply side during the induction generation operation is low. Condenser is installed in order to raise the low power factor of the induction generator. Switching transients occurs when the power supply of the capacitor is turned on in order to ensure the low power factor. When using the reactor in series with the capacitor in order to reduce the influence of switching transient, it can affect the reactive power by the condenser voltage rises. In this study, we analyzed the operating characteristics for power and power factor of induction generator in accordance with the presence or absence of the application of the serial reactors for switching transients reduction of the condenser and the condenser for power factor correction.
In order to utilize the refrigerants condensation heat of condenser on the absorption chiller system, the solution cooling condenser(SCC) were proposed, which weak solution of absorber outlet use as a cooling water. As the UA of the solution cooling condenser increased, increasement of COP is about maximum 0.09 in occasion of single effect and is about maximum 0.08 in occasion of double effect series flow. In the case of heat exchanger efficiency is about 0.85, it's increments are 0.08 and 0.072, each. And solution cooling condenser is a more effective device in the single effect absorption system more than double effect system for the principle of operation. In order to increases the heat of solution cooling condenser, if reduce the flow rate of cooling water or the value of UA, it makes COP increase a little, but it brought COP decrease because of increasing the pressure of system.

This study optimized the condenser dimension of heat pump system with the heat sources which are solar irradiation and ambient air. At first, the author selected the principal design factors influencing the performance of heat pump system. And the author considered the variation of condenser dimension according to the variation of the selected design factors, that is, ambient air temperature, condenser temperature, degree of superheating, degree of sub-cooling and irradiation. As a result this study, among refrigerants R12, R22 and R500, refrigerant R22 has more heating output than R12 and R500, and the coefficient of performance on this heat pump system is not greatly influenced by the degree of superheating and degree of sub cooling. The ambient air temperature is below $5^{\circ}C$ at balance point and the optimal tube length of condenser dimension is about 3.8 m. Also the author gained the optimal design diagram for the optimization of condenser dimension according to various design factors.

A plate-fin tube type heat exchanger has a lighter weight, approximately 30%, than the conventional circular-fin type condenser of household refrigerator. Because the low weight means low cost, it can have significant effects on the growth of related businesses if similar performance can be guaranteed. To check the possibility of the use of such a plate fin-tube condenser, experimental evaluations were performed in this study. Four different condensers including a conventional circular fin-tube condenser were used for the test. A well designed refrigerant supply system was used to supply similar conditions with a refrigerator, and the heat transfer rate and pressure drops of air side were measured precisely. As a result, the plate fin-tube type condensers showed a lower heat transfer rate of more than 13% than the conventional circular fin-tube type condenser, but the air side pressure drop was reduced and the heat transfer per unit weight was increased. Therefore, it shows the possibility of the use of a plate fin-tube type condenser after optimizing the air flow path and increasing the air flow to make a similar heat transfer rate.

Thermodynamic analysis of cascade refrigeration systems has attracted considerable research attention. On the other hand, a system evaluation based on thermodynamic analyses of the individual parts, including the evaporator, condenser, intercooler, expansion valve, etc., has received less attention. In this study, performance analysis was conducted on a cascade refrigeration system, which has an individual cooling and refrigeration evaporator, and equips the intercooler and air-cooled condenser in a series in a lower cycle. The thermo-fluid design was then performed on the major components of the system - upper condenser, lower condenser, cooling evaporator, refrigeration evaporator, intercooler, compressor, electronic expansion valve - of 15 kW refrigeration, and 8 kW cooling capacity using R-410A. A series of simulations were conducted on the designed system. The change in outdoor temperature from 26 C to 38 C resulted in the cooling capacity of the lower evaporator remaining approximately the same, whereas it decreased by 9% at the upper evaporator and by 63% at the intercooler. The COP decreased with increasing outdoor temperature. In addition, the COP of the cycle with the intercooler operation was higher that of the cycle without the intercooler operation. Furthermore, the increase in the upper condenser size by two fold increased the upper evaporator by 4%. On the other hand, the lower evaporator capacity remained the same. The COP of the upper cycle increased with increasing upper condenser size, whereas that of the lower cycle remained almost the same. When the size of the lower condenser was increased 2.8 fold, the intercooler capacity increased by 8%, whereas those of upper and the lower evaporator remained approximately the same. Furthermore, the COP of the lower cycle increased with an increase in the lower condenser. On the other hand, the change of the upper condenser was minimal.
In this paper, studied condenser operating management which is affecting power plants efficiency considering the cost of poor quality. Sea water temperature and condenser pressure have clear correlation in S power plants. As the sea water temperature changes, condenser pressure changed -1.7~+20 mmHg from design condenser pressure(38.1 mmHg). Use the heat rate correction curve from manufactory company, realized that efficiency and cost of poor quality changed 0.0201%, 12,830 won/h at Unit #1,2 but 0.0155%, 9,832 won/h when condenser pressure 1 mmHg rise. Also, checked that it is changed depend on seasonal corresponding operation, plant ageing and the point of preventive maintenance like overhaul maintenance. This study said if we considered complying with management range and planning overhaul maintenance, then it could help reducing operating maintenance losses minimum 2.5 billion won per 1 year (case : Unit #1, forty days maintenance).

A novel design process of a parallel multi-flow type air-cooled condenser of a dual-loop waste heat recovery system with Rankine steam cycles for improving the fuel efficiency of gasoline automobiles has been investigated focusing on reduction of the pressure drop inside the micro-tubes. The low temperature condenser plays a role to dissipate heat from the system by condensing the low temperature loop working fluid sufficiently. However, the refrigerant has low evaporation temperature enough to recover the waste from engine coolant of about $100^{\circ}C$ but has small saturation enthalpy so that excessive mass flow rate of the LT working fluid, e.g., over 150 g/s, causes enormously large pressure drop of the working fluid to maintain the heat dissipation performance of more than 20 kW. This paper has dealt with the scheme to design the low temperature condenser that has reduced pressure drop while ensuring the required thermal performance. The number of pass, the arrangement of the tubes of each pass, and the positions of the inlet and outlet ports on the header are most critical parameters affecting the flow uniformity through all the tubes of the condenser. For the purpose of the performance predictions and the parametric study for the LT condenser, we have developed a 1-dimensional user-friendly performance prediction program that calculates feasibly the phase change of the working fluid in the tubes. An example is presented through the proposed design process and compared with an experiment.

An air-cooled condenser is a device that is used for converting steam into condensate by using ambient air. The air-cooled condenser is prone to suffer from a serious explosion when the condensate inside the tubes of a heat exchanger is frozen; in particular, tubes can break during winter. This is primarily due to the structural problem of the tube outlet of an existing conventional air-cooled condenser system, which causes the backflow of residual steam and noncondensable gases. To solve the backflow problem in such condensers, such a system was simulated and a new system was designed and evaluated in this study. The experimental results using the simulated condenser showed the occurrence of freezing because of the backflow inside the tube. On the other hand, no backflow and freezing occurred in the advanced new condenser, and efficient heat exchange occurred.

The important problems from the point of view of preventing global warming are to save the power consumption of automotive air-conditioning systems and reduce the refrigerant amount filled. To achieve such requirements, integral receiver/dryer (R/D) condensers were developed recently. Typical integral R/D condensers have extra headers that play the role of R/D. Except an extra header and somewhat complex tube array resulting from the extra header, the most integral R/D condensers have almost the same specification that tube has multi channels, fin has louvers, flow in tube is parallel, etc. When integral condensers are applied, it is known that the refrigerating effect increases, resulting from the increase of subcooling degree in condenser, and the refrigerant amount used saves. In spite of several merits, integral condensers have not been applied a lot. That is why there is an uncertainty in performance, using integral condensers. The objective of this study is to theoretically optimize the tube array in an integral R/D condenser that is really being applied to some vehicles. The tube array has a great effect on the performance of the integral condenser as well as common ones. Through computer simulation, we could see that the tube array, 14-6-3-5-3-4, in the same condenser was the best, comparing heat release rate, pressure drop, etc. to the real array, 17-5-3-3-2-5. It should be noted that the optimization is based on the condenser performance only.
This study was aimed at designing a condenser, as a component of the organic Rankine cycle system for ships. The condenser was manufactured through press molding to achieve a bent shape to enhance the heat transfer performance, considering the shape of the heat transfer plate used in a brazing plate heat exchanger. The heat transfer plate was made of copper-nickel alloy. The required heat transfer rate for the condenser was 110 kW, and the maximum number of layers was set as 25, considering the characteristics of high-temperature brazing. Computational fluid dynamics techniques were used to perform the thermal fluid analysis, based on the ANSYS CFX (v.18.1) commercial program. The heat transfer rate of the condenser was 4.96 kW for one layer (width and length of 0.224 and 0.7 m, respectively) of the heat transfer exchanger. The fin efficiency pertaining to the heat transfer plate was approximately 20%. The heat flow analysis for one layer of the heat exchanger plate indicated that the condenser with 25 layers of heat transfer plates could achieve a heat transfer rate of 110 kW.
