Purpose: In this paper, we propose a study of deep learning algorithms that estimate and predict sarcopenia by exploiting the high penetration rate of smart devices. Method: To utilize deep learning techniques, experimental data were collected by using the inertial sensor embedded in the smart device. We implemented a smart device application for data collection. The data are collected by labeling normal and abnormal gait and five states of running, falling and squat posture. Result: The accuracy was analyzed by comparative analysis of LSTM, CNN, and RNN models, and binary classification accuracy of 99.87% and multiple classification accuracy of 92.30% were obtained using the CNN-LSTM fusion algorithm. Conclusion: A study was conducted using a smart sensoring device, focusing on the fact that gait abnormalities occur for people with sarcopenia. It is expected that this study can contribute to strengthening the safety issues caused by sarcopenia.
In order to provide a location-based services regardless of indoor or outdoor space, it is important to provide position information of the terminal regardless of location. Among the wireless/mobile communication resources used for this purpose, Long Term Evolution (LTE) signal is a representative infrastructure that can overcome spatial limitations, but the positioning method based on the location of the base station has a disadvantage in that the accuracy is low. Therefore, a fingerprinting technique, which is a pattern recognition technology, has been widely used. The simplest yet widely applied algorithm among Fingerprint positioning technologies is k-Nearest Neighbors (kNN). However, in the kNN algorithm, it is difficult to find the optimal K value with the lowest positioning error for each location to be estimated, so it is generally fixed to an appropriate K value and used. Since the optimal K value cannot be applied to each estimated location, therefore, there is a problem in that the accuracy of the overall estimated location information is lowered. Considering this problem, this paper proposes a technique for adaptively varying the K value by using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model among Artificial Neural Network (ANN) techniques. First, by using the signal information of the measured values obtained in the service area, an image is created according to the Physical Cell Identity (PCI) and Band combination, and an answer label for supervised learning is created. Then, the structure of the CNN is modeled to classify K values through the image information of the measurements. The performance of the proposed technique is verified based on actual data measured in the testbed. As a result, it can be seen that the proposed technique improves the positioning performance compared to using a fixed K value.
This paper proposes an image classification algorithm that transforms the number of convolution layers in the residual block of ResNet, CNN's representative method. The proposed method modified the structure of 34/50 layer of ResNet structure. First, we analyzed the performance of small and many convolution layers for the structure consisting of only shortcut and 3 × 3 convolution layers for 34 and 50 layers. And then the performance was analyzed in the case of small and many cases of convolutional layers for the bottleneck structure of 50 layers. By applying the results, the best classification method in the residual block was applied to construct a 34-layer simple structure and a 50-layer bottleneck image classification model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed image classification model, the results were analyzed by applying to the cifar10 dataset. The proposed 34-layer simple structure and 50-layer bottleneck showed improved performance over the ResNet-110 and Densnet-40 models.
In general, the detection of the vehicle license plate is a previous step of license plate recognition and has been actively studied for several decades. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect a license plate area of a moving vehicle from a video captured by a fixed camera installed on the road using the Convolution Neural Network (CNN) technology. First, license plate images and non-license plate images are applied to a previously learned CNN model (AlexNet) to extract and classify features. Then, after detecting the moving vehicle in the video, CNN detects the license plate area by comparing the features of the license plate region with the features of the license plate area. Experimental result shows relatively good performance in various environments such as incomplete lighting, noise due to rain, and low resolution. In addition, to protect personal information this proposed system can also be used independently to detect the license plate area and hide that area to secure the public's personal information.
In recent years, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have been successfully implemented in different tasks of computer vision. Since CNN models are the representatives of supervised learning algorithms, they demand large amount of data in order to train the classifiers. Thus, obtaining data with correct labels is imperative to attain the state-of-the-art performance of the CNN models. However, labelling datasets is quite tedious and expensive process, therefore real-life datasets often exhibit incorrect labels. Although the issue of poorly labelled datasets has been studied before, we have noticed that the methods are very complex and hard to reproduce. Therefore, in this research work, we propose Deep CleanNet - a considerably simple system that achieves competitive results when compared to the existing methods. We use K-means clustering algorithm for selecting data with correct labels and train the new dataset using a deep CNN model. The technique achieves competitive results in both training and validation stages. We conducted experiments using MNIST database of handwritten digits with 50% corrupted labels and achieved up to 10 and 20% increase in training and validation sets accuracy scores, respectively.

Tuberculosis is a chronic and delayed infection which is easily experienced by young people. According to the statistics of the World Health Organization (WHO), there are nearly ten million fell ill with tuberculosis and a total of 1.5 million people died from tuberculosis in 2018 (including 251000 people with HIV). Tuberculosis is the largest single infectious pathogen that leads to death. In order to help doctors with tuberculosis diagnosis, we compare the tuberculosis classification abilities of six popular convolutional neural network (CNN) models in the same data set to find the best model. Before training, we optimize three parts of CNN to achieve better results. We employ sigmoid function to replace the step function as the activation function. What's more, we use binary cross entropy function as the cost function to replace traditional quadratic cost function. Finally, we choose stochastic gradient descent (SGD) as gradient descent algorithm. From the results of our experiments, we find that Densenet121 is most suitable for tuberculosis diagnosis and achieve a highest accuracy of 0.835. The optimization and expansion depend on the increase of data set and the improvements of Densenet121.

We propose a rapid adaptive learning framework for streaming object detection, called EER-ASSL. The method combines the expected error reduction (EER) dependent rollback learning and the active semi-supervised learning (ASSL) for a rapid adaptive CNN detector. Most CNN object detectors are built on the assumption of static data distribution. However, images are often noisy and biased, and the data distribution is imbalanced in a real world environment. The proposed method consists of collaborative sampling and EER-ASSL. The EER-ASSL utilizes the active learning (AL) and rollback based semi-supervised learning (SSL). The AL allows us to select more informative and representative samples measuring uncertainty and diversity. The SSL divides the selected streaming image samples into the bins and each bin repeatedly transfers the discriminative knowledge of the EER and CNN models to the next bin until convergence and incorporation with the EER rollback learning algorithm is achieved. The EER models provide a rapid short-term myopic adaptation and the CNN models an incremental long-term performance improvement. EER-ASSL can overcome noisy and biased labels in varying data distribution. Extensive experiments shows that EER-ASSL obtained 70.9 mAP compared to state-of-the-art technology such as Faster RCNN, SSD300, and YOLOv2.

For safe driving of autonomous vehicles, road damage detection is very important to lower the potential risk. In order to ensure safety while an autonomous vehicle is driving on the road, technology that can cope with various obstacles is required. Among them, technology that recognizes static obstacles such as poor road conditions as well as dynamic obstacles that may be encountered while driving, such as crosswalks, manholes, hollows, and speed bumps, is a priority. In this paper, we propose a method to extract similarity of images and find damaged road images using OpenCV image processing and CNN algorithm. To implement this, we trained a CNN model using 280 training datasheets and 70 test datasheets out of 350 image data. As a result of training, the object recognition processing speed and recognition speed of 100 images were tested, and the average processing speed was 45.9 ms, the average recognition speed was 66.78 ms, and the average object accuracy was 92%. In the future, it is expected that the driving safety of autonomous vehicles will be improved by using technology that detects road obstacles encountered while driving.
As damages to individuals, private sectors, and businesses increase due to newly occurring cyber attacks, the underlying network security problem has emerged as a major problem in computer systems. Therefore, NIDS using machine learning and deep learning is being studied to improve the limitations that occur in the existing Network Intrusion Detection System. In this study, a deep learning-based NIDS model study is conducted using the Convolution Neural Network (CNN) algorithm. For the image classification-based CNN algorithm learning, a discrete algorithm for continuity variables was added in the preprocessing stage used previously, and the predicted variables were expressed in a linear relationship and converted into easy-to-interpret data. Finally, the network packet processed through the above process is mapped to a square matrix structure and converted into a pixel image. For the performance evaluation of the proposed model, NSL-KDD, a representative network packet data, was used, and accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score were used as performance indicators. As a result of the experiment, the proposed model showed the highest performance with an accuracy of 85%, and the harmonic mean (F1-Score) of the R2L class with a small number of training samples was 71%, showing very good performance compared to other models.

Wave observations using a marine X-band radar are conducted by analyzing the backscattered radar signal from sea surfaces. Wave parameters are extracted using Modulation Transfer Function obtained from 3D wave number and frequency spectra which are calculated by 3D FFT of time series of sea surface images (42 images per minute). The accuracy of estimation of the significant wave height is, therefore, critically dependent on the quality of radar images. Wave observations during Typhoon Maysak and Haishen in the summer of 2020 show large errors in the estimation of the significant wave heights. It is because of the deteriorated radar images due to raindrops falling on the sea surface. This paper presents the algorithm developed to increase the accuracy of wave heights estimation from radar images by adopting convolution neural network(CNN) which automatically classify radar images into rain and non-rain cases. Then, an algorithm for deriving the Hs is proposed by creating different ANN models and selectively applying them according to the rain or non-rain cases. The developed algorithm applied to heavy rain cases during typhoons and showed critically improved results.
