  • Sound event detection in real-world environments suffers from the interference of non-stationary and time-varying noise. This paper presents an adaptive noise reduction method for sound event detection based on non-negative matrix factorization (NMF). In this paper, we proposed a deep learning model that integrates Convolution Neural Network (CNN) with Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF). To improve the separation quality of the NMF, it includes noise update technique that learns and adapts the characteristics of the current noise in real time. The noise update technique analyzes the sparsity and activity of the noise bias at the present time and decides the update training based on the noise candidate group obtained every frame in the previous noise reduction stage. Noise bias ranks selected as candidates for update training are updated in real time with discrimination NMF training. This NMF was applied to CNN and Hidden Markov Model(HMM) to achieve improvement for performance of sound event detection. Since CNN has a more obvious performance improvement effect, it can be widely used in sound source based CNN algorithm.

  • The performance of deep learning-based malware detection and classification models depends largely on how to construct a feature set to be applied to training. In this paper, we propose an approach to select the optimal feature set to maximize detection performance for CNN-based Android malware detection. The features to be included in the feature set were selected through the Chi-Square test algorithm, which is widely used for feature selection in machine learning and deep learning. To validate the proposed approach, the CNN model was trained using 36 characteristics selected for the CICANDMAL2017 dataset and then the malware detection performance was measured. As a result, 99.99% of Accuracy was achieved in binary classification and 98.55% in multiclass classification.

  • In this study, the NEURAL NETWORK (hereinafter referred to as NN) was applied to control of the nonlinear factors for turning movement of the crawler vehicle and experiment was carried out using a small model of crawler vehicle in order to inspect an application of NN. Furthermore, CHAOS NEURAL NETWORK (hereinafter referred to as CNN) was also applied to this control so as to compare with conventional NN. CNN is especially effective for plane in many variables with local minimum which conventional NN is apt to fall into, and it is relatively useful to nonlinear factors. Experiment of turning on the slope of crawler vehicle was performed in order to estimate an adaptability of nonlinear problems by NN and CNN. The inclination angles of the road surface which the vehicles travel on, were respectively 4deg, 8deg, 12deg. These field conditions were selected by the object for changing nonlinear magnitude in turning phenomenon of vehicle. Learning of NN and CNN was carried out by referring to positioning data obtained from measurement at every 15deg in turning. After learning, the sampling data at every 15deg were interpolated based on the constructed learning system of NN and CNN. Learning and simulation programs of NN and CNN were made by C language ("Association of research for algorithm of calculating machine (1992)"). As a result, conventional NN and CNN were available for interpolation of sampling data. Moreover, when nonlinear intensity is not so large under the field condition of small slope, interpolation performance of CNN was a little not so better than NN. However, when nonlinear intensity is large under the field condition of large slope, interpolation performance of CNN was relatively better than NN.

  • Proteins are the basic unit of all life activities, and understanding them is essential for studying life phenomena. Since the emergence of the machine learning methodology using artificial neural networks, many researchers have tried to predict the function of proteins using only protein sequences. Many combinations of deep learning models have been reported to academia, but the methods are different and there is no formal methodology, and they are tailored to different data, so there has never been a direct comparative analysis of which algorithms are more suitable for handling protein data. In this paper, the single model performance of each algorithm was compared and evaluated based on accuracy and speed by applying the same data to CNN, LSTM, and GRU models, which are the most frequently used representative algorithms in the convergence research field of predicting protein functions, and the final evaluation scale is presented as Micro Precision, Recall, and F1-score. The combined models CNN-LSTM and CNN-GRU models also were evaluated in the same way. Through this study, it was confirmed that the performance of LSTM as a single model is good in simple classification problems, overlapping CNN was suitable as a single model in complex classification problems, and the CNN-LSTM was relatively better as a combination model.

  • In this paper, we report detection and recognition of vehicle logo from images captured from street CCTV. Image data includes both the front and rear view of the vehicles. The proposed method is a two-step process which combines image preprocessing and faster region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN) for logo recognition. Without preprocessing, faster R-CNN accuracy is high only if the image quality is good. The proposed system is focusing on street CCTV camera where image quality is different from a front facing camera. Using perspective transformation the top view images are transformed into front view images. In this system, the detection and accuracy are much higher as compared to the existing algorithm. As a result of the experiment, on day data the detection and recognition rate is improved by 2% and night data, detection rate improved by 14%.

  • We propose an efficient single convolutional neural network (CNN) for pedestrian detection on embedded GPUs. We first determine the optimal number of the convolutional layers and hyper-parameters for a lightweight CNN. Then, we employ a multi-scale approach to make the network robust to the sizes of the pedestrians in images. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is capable of real-time operation, while providing higher detection performance than conventional algorithms.

  • Core algorithm of deep learning Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) shows better performance than other machine learning algorithms. However, if there is not sufficient data, CNN can not achieve satisfactory performance even if the classifier is excellent. In this situation, it has been proven that the use of transfer learning can have a great effect. In this paper, we apply two transition learning methods(freezing, retraining) to three CNN models(ResNet-50, Inception-V3, DenseNet-121) and compare and analyze how the classification performance of CNN changes according to the methods. As a result of statistical significance test using various evaluation indicators, ResNet-50, Inception-V3, and DenseNet-121 differed by 1.18 times, 1.09 times, and 1.17 times, respectively. Based on this, we concluded that the retraining method may be more effective than the freezing method in case of transition learning in image classification problem.

  • This study is to find a method to learn engine sound after the start-up of a diesel generator installed in nuclear power plant with an unsupervised deep learning algorithm (CNN autoencoder) and a new method to predict the failure of a diesel generator using it. In order to learn the sound of a diesel generator with a deep learning algorithm, sound data recorded before and after the start-up of two diesel generators was used. The sound data of 20 min and 2 h were cut into 7 s, and the split sound was converted into a spectrogram image. 1200 and 7200 spectrogram images were created from sound data of 20 min and 2 h, respectively. Using two different deep learning algorithms (CNN autoencoder and binary classification), it was investigated whether the diesel generator post-start sounds were learned as normal. It was possible to accurately determine the post-start sounds as normal and the pre-start sounds as abnormal. It was also confirmed that the deep learning algorithm could detect the virtual abnormal sounds created by mixing the unusual sounds with the post-start sounds. This study showed that the unsupervised anomaly detection algorithm has a good accuracy increased about 3% with comparing to the binary classification algorithm.

  • Object recognition is to identify the location and class of a specific object by analyzing the given image when a specific image is input. One of the fields in which object recognition technology is actively applied in recent years is autonomous vehicles, and this paper describes the trend of image-based object recognition artificial intelligence technology in autonomous vehicles. The image-based object detection algorithm has recently been narrowed down to two methods (a single-step detection method and a two-step detection method), and we will analyze and organize them around this. The advantages and disadvantages of the two detection methods are analyzed and presented, and the YOLO/SSD algorithm belonging to the single-step detection method and the R-CNN/Faster R-CNN algorithm belonging to the two-step detection method are analyzed and described. This will allow the algorithms suitable for each object recognition application required for autonomous driving to be selectively selected and R&D.
