CAD&CAM을 활용한 C기반 독립형 모션 제어기 설계 (Design of a C-based Independent Motion Controller using CAD&CAM)

  • 현재, 국내 CNC 산업분야는 제조업의 패러다임 변화에 따라 공작기계에 첨단 기술의 적용이 활발하게 추진되고 있다. 즉, 공작기계의 제어를 담당하는 CNC의 IT화는 가장 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 하지만 공작기계 분야에 모션제어 전문기술 부족의 가장 큰 이유는 PC기반의 컨트롤러의 경우 비중을 많이 차지하는 윈도우즈 언어를 사용하기 보다는 G-Code를 직접 좌표에 맞춰 코딩하거나 값비싼 외산 S/W를 통해 변환 하는 경우가 대부분이기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 형태의 CAD 데이터를 손쉽게 G-Code 데이터로 변환할 수 있는 G-Code 변환 프로그램 및 CAD&CAM과 응용 소프트웨어를 개발하고 이 변환된 데이터를 바로 로봇을 통해 원하는 동작을 시킬 수 있는 전용 모션 컨트롤러를 구현한다.

  • This paper develops an AC motor controller for applications. The AC motor controller is designed based on the variable structure control method and a variable structure disturbance observer is added to reduce the effects of exogenous disturbances. The designed controller is installed on the z-axis of a CNC machining center and milling experiments were performed. The results show improved performance on both position and speed tracking, when compared to the factory-designed servo controller.

Diagnosing the Cause of Operational Faults in Machine Tools with an Open Architecture CNC

  • The conventional computerized numerical controller (CNC) of machine tools has been increasingly replaced by a PC-based open architecture CNC (OAC) that is independent of a CNC vendor. The OAC and machine tools with an OAC have led to a convenient environment in which user-defined applications can be efficiently implemented within a CNC. This paper proposes a method of diagnosing the cause of operational faults. The method is based on the status of a programmable logic controller in machine tools with an OAC. An operational fault is defined as a disability that occurs during the normal operation of machine tools. Operational faults constitute more than 70 percent of all faults and are also unpredictable because most of them occur without any warning. To quickly and correctly diagnose the cause of an operational fault, two diagnostic models are proposed: the switching function and the step switching function. The cause of the fault is logically diagnosed through a fault diagnosis system using diagnostic models. A suitable interface environment between a CNC and developed application modules is constructed to implement the diagnostic functions in the CNC domain. The results of the diagnosis were displayed on a CNC monitor for machine operators and transmitted to a remote site through a Web browser. The proposed diagnostic method and its results were useful to unskilled machine operators and reduced the machine downtime.

  • Based on the minimum cutting time criteria, the tool path generation algorithm of a pocket machining is developed as a form of a built-in cycle for the WOP(workshop oriented programming) of a CNC controller. Based on the given CAD database and tool information, an optimal cutting depth and geometric properties can be generated, then six different tool paths will be generated internally and automatically. Finally, the G code which commands tool movements is generated for CNC machining.

  • 4차 산업혁명이 주목받고 있다. 특히 스마트 팩토리는 제조 분야에서 그 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 현재 제조 분야에서 CNC(Computerized Numeric Controller: 컴퓨터 수치 제어)에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 국내에서는 CNC 설비에 음향 센서, 진동 센서 등 여러 가지 센서를 부착하여 소음, 진동 등 설비 관련 데이터를 수집하는 방안에 관한 연구가 존재한다. 본 연구는 CNC 머신에서 발생하는 데이터를 중심으로 머신러닝 기법을 활용하여 설비 가동 조건이 공구 마모도에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. CNC 설비에서 발생하는 X축, Y축, Z축의 힘, 이동 속도 등 다양한 데이터를 수집한다. 데이터 탐색 기법을 통해 데이터의 특성 및 분포를 분석하였다. 데이터를 RF(Random Forest), XGB(Extreme Gradient Boost), SVM(Support Vector Machine)을 이용하여 CNC 설비 가동 조건이 공구 마모도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 CNC 설비 가동에서 최적의 조건을 찾고, 이를 바탕으로 품질 향상 및 기계 손상을 예방하는데 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

WEDM을 위한 개방형 제어시스템의 구조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Open Architecture CNC System for WEDM)

  • This paper deals with the design and implementation of an open architecture CNC system for Wire-EDM, with a consideration of the difference between Wire-EDM and NC cutting machines. Recent open architecture controller(OAC) related research results could be applied to directly access Wire-EDM systems at the CNC level. However, previous research about OAC is mostly aimed at NC cutting machines such as milling or lathes, and hence these results are inadequate to apply to Wire-EDM. To close the gap between previous general research on OAC and Wire-EDM specific needs, an open architecture NC model for Wire-EDM composed of a synchronization kernel and a NC functional module is proposed. Based on the control information flow and Wire-EDM specific machining process, the conceptual CNC model and the detailed implementation model for Wire-EDM is suggested.

자유 곡면의 CNC 가공을 위한 가공경로의 생성 (A Toolpath Generation for CNC Machining of Free-form Surfaces)

  • A parametric curve interpolator has been proposed for machining curves instead of a linear interpolator in which curves are approximated by a set of line segment. The parametric curve interpolator is superior to linear interpolator in machining time and contour error and generate exact position commands directly from curve equations. In this paper, a new toolpath generation method is proposed based on the parametric curve interpolator. This method retains all the benefits of parametric curve interpolator and can bound the scallop height within a specified value. By interpolating curves and surfaces directly from the mathematical equations, the amount of data from CAD/CAM system to CNC controller can be significantly reduced. The proposed method was implemented on a CNC controller and was confirmed to give a better result than the other existing method.

  • This paper proposes a controller design analysis for three-axis CNC systems considering both contouring and tracking performance. The proposed analysis inclusively combines axial controllers for each individual feed drive system together with cross-coupling controller at the beginning design stage as an integrated manner. These two controllers used to be separately designed and analyzed since they have different control objectives. The proposed scheme includes a stability analysis for the overall control system and a performance analysis in terms of contouring and tracking accuracy. Computer simulation is performed and the results show the validity of the proposed methodology.
