고속 스핀들의 동적거동과 밸런싱 해석 (Analysis of Dynamic Behavior and Balancing of High Speed Spindle)

  • 공작기계 응용에 있어서 고속 및 고효율 가공의 추세는 스핀들의 고속화를 지속적으로 요구하고 있다. 내장형 모터를 장착한 스핀들은 가공시스템의 구조를 단순하게 한다. 하지만 로터에는 불평형 질량에 의해 진동이 발생하며, 이를 제거하기 위한 밸런싱 작업은 필수적이다. 이 논문에서는 내장형 모터를 장착한 고속 스핀들의 동적거동을 해석하였다. 불평형 질량, 베어링 강성, 회전 속도의 변화에 따른 휘돌림 궤적을 해석하였고, 이를 저감시키는 방법을 모색하였다. 또한 Timoshenko 빔 요소를 적용하여 스핀들-베어링 시스템을 모델링하고, 영향 계수법을 적용하여 밸런싱 과정을 시뮬레이션 하였다. 스핀들의 경우, 불평형 하중이 작용할 때, 베어링 지지점에서 가장 작은 휘돌림 궤적이 나타났으며, 양단에서 가장 큰 휘돌림 궤적을 나타내었다. 스핀들의 회전속도가 증가함에 따라 스핀들 선단에서의 휘돌림 궤적도 증가하였다. 베어링의 강성이 커짐에 따라 휘돌림 궤적 또한 증가하였다. 밸런싱 전, 후의 휘돌림 궤적 반경은 최대 73%까지 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 CNC 자동선반의 스핀들 고속화에 중요한 정보를 제공하고 있다.

피스톤의 형상 모델링 및 CNC 가공 데이터 산출용 소프트웨어 개발 (The Development of the Software for the Geometry Modeling and Generating CNC Machining Data of a Piston)

  • A noncircular cutting such as a piston cutting has depended on the copy-machining because of its complex shape. But the copy-machining needs a master model and brings about a low quality of the piston caused by being worn out of the master model. And the lower cutting speed reduces the productivity. In this paper, for solving these problems, a specialized software system and its subsequent procedure are presented. The shape of a piston consists of an oval, an offset, recesses, and eccentricities. The paper describes these shapes as a consistent equation that is a function of the rotational angle and the position of longitudinal direction(Z-axis). It is simple to define the characteristic geometry of a piston and to generate a tool path for CNC machining. This paper proposes the a proper structure of a 4-axes CNC(Computerized Numerical Control) lathe for machining the piston. As well as X-axis and Z-axis, are attached to the machine a C-axis for rotation and a Y-axis for higher speedy prismatic motion parallel to X-axis.

  • To make high precision cutting of long materials or a piston for the engines, it must be necessary to keep the stability of spindle and tail stock in CNC lathe. If a object is clamped at the ends, the thermal expansion and cutting generated in cutting process appear as the deflection of in cuttings objects. Especially, of a piston ring, piston ovality and piston profile, the influences are very serious. In order to solve the problems most of piston cutting are worked in simply support. However, the problems exist, yet.

  • Development of high speed feed drive system has been a major issue for the past few decades in machine tool industries. The reduction of the tool change time as well as rapid travel time can enhance the productivity. However, the high speed feed drive system generates more heat in nature, which leads thermal expansion that has adverse effects on the accuracy of machined parts. The detail of the model proposed is described in the paper together with the experimental methodologies using a proposed compact measurement system to examine the validity of the proposed approach. The results showed the machining accuracy could be maintained to better than $\pm$ 5$\mu\textrm{m}$ while using this sensor.

  • In machining large screws such as those of extruders, it takes long time to machine them on conventional machines which usually use single-tipped fixed tools. And it is also difficult to use an existing CAD/CAM coftware when trying to get over the problems of conventional machines and making use of CNC machines. In this paper, generation of machining program using rotational tools for large screws defined by longitudinal-section profile is descrebed. Use of rotational tools in machining plays an important role in saving machining time. In the sort of extruder screws, it is easy to define a screw shape by longitudinal-section profile, and by which improvement of dimensional accuracy can be expected. The CAM software developed in this paper is based on user's and designer's friendliness.

  • According to global trend of the expanding need of high-quality automobiles, the usage of small precise worm consisting of gearing part for motors to actuate convenience modules has increased rapidly. Precision of those worms has very sensitive characteristic to motor performance and noise. Forming process has been generally used to manufacture worms because of its mass productivity. However, it has problems such as deformation due to residual stress and wear of dies. Planetary milling and side milling are among alternatives using cutting tools. To overcome those problems the two machining methods have some contrast features in the sense of tool numbers and cutting mechanism. In this paper, machinability of both methods was compared in terms of cutting force, precision and cycle time.

  • This paper describes the manufacture of spherical and aspherical surface on glass, superalloy and ceramic components. The rotationally symmetricallenses, and the ceramic or superalloy molds with spherical shapes are mainly generated by cutting processes on CNC lathe machine or 4,5 axis CNC machining centers. Recently, spherical shape parts require more precise and efficent machining technologies for wide material range such as optical lens of the lithography device in semiconductor manufacturing processes or the high precision mold machining of anti-chemical, anti-wear materials. In this paper, we introduce a newly developed infeed grinding machine with metal with metal bonded cup type wheel and its effects on spherical surface grinding.

  • Thermal expension of the ball screw in semi-closed loop type CNC Lathe directly introduces positioning error along the travel axis. In this paper the thermal displacement of the ball screw is estimated by using macro variabie. The estimated dispacement of the ball screw are given to the NC in the form of pitch error compensation data into time interval. The thermal behaviour of the ball screw of the CNC Lasthe under the constant driving conditions was measured to examine the effectiveness of this compensation method. The results showed that thermal displacment of the ball screw were the positioning accuracy could be maintained to better then 6 .mu.m while using this compensation.

  • The conventional loading process of workpieces for a CNC lathe is performaed either by human or by a general robot. It is not suitable for a general robot to load workpieces because of high price and inefficiency. Starting from the description of the environment around CNC lathes and the analysis ofloading process, we have developed the task-oriented loading manipulator. The characteristics of a loading manipulator are the following: to load/unload heavy workpieces, to decrease the whole porcess time. The air-chuck to load heavy workpiece has high clamping force and light weight. A loading manipulator has accomplished both the integration of independent automation techniques and cost-down effect of product. A loading manupulator developed in this project has been designed for general loading process. The loading manipulator is capable of carrying heavy payload with respect to weight of robot in short cycle time.

Y축이 Off-Set된 회전공구를 사용한 스크류 가공시스템 (Screw machining system by use of rotational tool with Y axis off-set on a CNC turning center)

  • In this study, screw machining system by use of a rotational tool such as an end-mill or a face cutter with Y axis off-set on a CNC turing center was developed for quick machining. In this system, It was possible to use different tools for different processes, and by off-setting the tool in Y direction by calculated amount it was possible to avoid tool interference problem which could occur within the central area at the end of a tool. In addition, machining a screw with a helix of up to 3 different leads combined and with tapered minor diameter was possible.
