  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the interior characteristics of Philips Exeter Academy library by Louis I. Kahn. Kahn's main thoughts of 'what it wants to be ' and 'how it was done' play a important role in this research because these statements act as a clue to understand this library. 'What it wants to be' means the essence and existence of architecture and 'how it was done' shows the tectonic of architecture and construction process to enhance its presence. Most of his works inform that Kahn had consistently applied his thoughts into design process. The thoughts of the essence of library leads Kahn to configurate 3 layers of interior space. The emphasis of tectonic expression is also the characteristics of interior in that structure is the logical part of whole building system rather than concealing object for the exterior of buildings. In Exeter library, interior characteristics are summarized as 3 layers of interior configuration, the order in dynamics, the visualization of construction process, and the relationship between structure and space.

Recurrent hemoptysis in a 26-year-old woman with a ground-glass opacity lesion of the lung

  • Hemoptysis is a major reason for emergency department (ED) visits. Catamenial hemoptysis (CH), a rare condition of thoracic endometriosis, can cause recurrent hemoptysis but is difficult to diagnose in the ED due to the scarcity of cases and nonspecific clinical findings. We report a case of a 26-year-old woman who presented to the ED with recurrent hemoptysis since 2 years without a definite cause. Her vital signs and blood test findings were unremarkable. Chest computed tomography (CT) did not show any specific lesions other than a non-specific ground-glass opacity pattern in her right lung. She was on day 4 of her menstrual cycle and her hemoptysis frequently occurred during menstruation. Although there was no histological confirmation, based on her history of hemoptysis during menstruation and no other cause of the hemoptysis, the patient was tentatively diagnosed with CH and was administered gonadotropin-releasing hormone. She had no recurrence of hemoptysis for 3 months. While CH is difficult to diagnose in the ED, the patient's recurrent hemoptysis related to menstruation was a clue to the presence of CH. Therefore, physicians should determine the relationship between hemoptysis and menstruation for women of childbearing age presenting with repeated hemoptysis without a definite cause.

Building of a Hierarchical Semantic Map with Classified Area Information in Home Environments (가정환경에서의 분류된 지역정보를 통한 계층적 시맨틱 지도 작성)

  • This paper describes hierarchical semantic map building using the classified area information in home environments. The hierarchical semantic map consists of a grid, CAIG (Classified Area Information in Grid), and topological map. The grid and CAIG maps are used for navigation and motion selection, respectively. The topological map provides the intuitive information on the environment, which can be used for the communication between robots and users. The proposed semantic map building algorithm can greatly improve the capabilities of a mobile robot in various domains, including localization, path-planning and HRI (Human-Robot Interaction). In the home environment, a door can be used to divide an area into various sections, such as a room, a kitchen, and so on. Therefore, we used not only the grid map of the home environment, but also the door information as a main clue to classify the area and to build the hierarchical semantic map. The proposed method was verified through various experiments and it was found that the algorithm guarantees autonomous map building in the home environment.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to extract a definitional answer sentence for a Definitional Question-Answering System. definitional answer sentence patterns are manually constructed with restriction rules to patterns, and a ranking information of the pattern using its frequency from the corpus. answer sentence pattern consists of the syntactic structure of a definitional answer sentence, and clue words. this system show 83% accuracy for untrained corpus.

  • Question-Answering (QA) system has to analyze user's intention correctly to respond correct answer for user's question., This paper proposes a focus-word-based question analysis approach for Korean QA system to analyze user's intention correctly. focus-word is a clue-word which selects question type. The question type is determined to one in 75 subcategories using semantics of focus-words. the proposed system accomplished 97.18% accuracy for the main category and 95.31% accuracy for the subcategory in the question classification.

CARBON ISOTOPE ANALYSES OF INDIVIDUAL HYDROCARBON MOLECULES IN BITUMINOUS COAL, OIL SHALE, AND MURCHISON METEORITE

  • To study the origin of organic matter in meteorite, terrestrial rocks which contain or-ganic compounds similar to the ones found in carbonaceous chondrites are studied and compared with Muchison meteorite. Hydrocarbon molecules were extracted by benzene and methanol from bituminous coal and oil shale and the extracts were partitioned into aliphatic, aromatic, and polar fractions by silica gel column chromatography. Carbon isotopic ratios in each fractions were analysed by GC-C-IRMS. Molec-ular compound identifications were carried by GC-MS Engine. Bituminous coal and oil shale show the organic compound composition similar to that of meteorite. Oil shale has a wide range of ${\delta}^{13}C,-20.1%_0~-54.4%_0$ compared to bituminous coal, $-25.2%_0~34.3%_0$. Delta values of several molecular compounds in two terrestrial samples are different. They show several distinct distributions in isotopic ratios compared to those of meteorite; Murchison meteorite has a range of ${\delta}^13C\;from\;-13%_0\;to\;+30%_0$. These results provide interpretation for the source and the formation condition of each rock, in particular alteration and migration processes of organic matter. Especially, they show an important clue whether some hydrocarbon molecules observed in meteorite are indigenous or not.

  • On the framework of Tolman spacetime model, the caustics around a local perturbed region in redshift is due to the local expansion rate induced by a local density inhomogeneity in real space. We have compared the caustics in redshift space, which are analytically obtained, with the observed redshift-distance patterns of galaxies which are belonging to Coma and Perseus clusters. For the Abell density distribution model and polytropic density profiles which are well-fitting the optical and X-ray observations, respectively, the size of caustics which is defined by "turnaround radius" of a local density perturbed region should give constraints on the sizes and masses of rich clusters and give also a clue to understand the state of hot X-ray emitting gas.

  • This study performed corroborative analysis by establishing hypothesis so as to corroboratively define the effect on brand attitude of psychological risk recognition in the case where consumers reading negative media news related to bakery recognize crisis communication on the basis of which point. According to corroborative analysis, the role of psychological crisis perception as parameter is confirmed in the causal relation between crisis communication recognition and brand attitude. Such result of study confirms that the positive change in crisis communication recognition reduces psychological risk perception to bakery products and such psychological risk perception eventually become factor which affects brand attitude over products. Such result of study suggests that when reading negative media news on bakery, the influence on consumer's evaluation of news on the basis of certain point and the influence on the formation of causal relation between psychological risk perception and brand attitude has scientific ground. In the aspect, the main result of this study is to find the clue that when comparing precedent study between crisis communication recognition and brand attitude, psychological risk perception is realized with brand attitude as media by verifying the parameter role of psychological risk perception.

  • Recently investigation institutions have found the clue leading to solution of the problem by digital evidence. Digital medium is used extensively in real life. Accordingly, offender is leaving from traces of crime to digital form. But, Korea's digital evidence investigation is low level yet. Definite legislation about digital evidence is not readied in present our country. And professional investigation manpower about digital evidence is insufficient. These problem may have to be supplemented urgently. Systematic, technological supporting is required. Specialize and discussed digital evidence investigation's controversial point and capacity reinforcement way for efficient confrontation in cyber crime who is diversified gradually in text.

Attribute-Based Classification Method for Automatic Construction of Answer Set (정답문서집합 자동 구축을 위한 속성 기반 분류 방법)

  • The main thrust of our talk will be based on our experience in developing and applying an attribute-based classification technique in the context of an operational answer set driven retrieval system. To alleviate the difficulty and reduce the cost of manually constructing and maintaining answer sets, i.e., knowledge base, we have devised a new method of automating the answer document selection process by using the notion of attribute-based classification, which is in and of itself novel. We attempt to explain through experiments how helpful the proposed method is for the knowledge base construction process.
