The effect of combined Korean medicine treatment including facial chuna manual therapy was retrospectively investigated in patients with Bell's palsy. There were 16 patients (14 males) who received 2 months outpatient treatment following > 14 days of hospitalization. The Yanagihara score and House-Brackmann grade were used to measure the severity of symptoms and recovery. The patients (mean age 58.5 ± 24.74 years) were categorized based on their medical history of hypertension (n = 10), diabetes millitus (n = 10), or oral intake of steroids early in the diagnosis of Bell's palsy (n = 10). There was no difference between patients who had or did not have a previous history of diabetes mellitus or oral steroid. Both the Yanagihara-score and House-Brackmann grade improved significantly in the total patient sample after treatment (p < 0.001). Combined Korean medicine including facial chuna manual therapy may have a beneficial effect on patient symptoms and recovery.

Objectives: The object of this study is to report a clinical effect of oriental medical treatments with Chuna for acute low back pain during the early stages of pregnancy.Methods: The patient in this case, 31 years-old female was admitted for 1days (20th/June/2016-30th/June/2016) due to the acute low back pain on the 7 weeks of pregnancy. We diagnosed as 挫閃腰痛, 傷筋 (Sprain and strain of lumbar spine) and treated with Chuna therapy and other conservative treatments including acupuncture herbal mixture. And we measured Visual Analog Score (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), McGill pain questionnaire-short form (SF-MPQ).Results: After treatments, Visual Analog Score (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), McGill pain questionnaire-short form (SF-MPQ) were significantly improved in case.Conclusion: Oriental medical treatments with Chuna manual therapy were associated with improvement of acute low back pain during the early stages of pregnancy.

This study report foot drop patients, who improved by taping therapy. We applied therapy and check ROM, walking ability, MMT. It is considered that this therapy is meaningful for Foot drop.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the korean medical treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome, especially taping therapy for carpal space expansion. Methods : Six patients were treated with acupuncture, moxibustion and kinesio taping therapy. To evaluate the pain and numbness of the palm and finger, visual analogue scale(VAS) and Phalen's test were used. Results : After about 10 to 20 times treatment, the pain and numbness of almost cases were remarkably removed. Also the VAS of post-treatment was reduced by 1.33(means). And the time being required to response to Phalen's test was signally prolonged, as 5 cases took over one minute. Conclusions : Korean medical treatment including expansion taping of carpal space as kinesio correction therapy is remarkably effective for carpal tunnel syndrome. But further studies are required to concretely prove the effectiveness of correction taping on other compressive neuropathy.

The Objective of this study is to report the results of greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) patient with Korean medicine therapy. There were insufficient clinical trials and case reports of GTPS treated with Korean medicine, we report the GTPS case remarkably improved treatment results. We treated the patient with acupuncture, acupotomy, pharmacopuncture, Chuna manual therapy and herbal medication. To evaluate the treatment effects, we used the measures including Verbal numerical rating scale, Oswestry disability index and Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment-gluteal tendinopathy scale. After total of 26 days of treatment, the patient's hip pain and disability were greatly reduced, and the outcome measures showed this great improvement. Korean medicine therapy might be effective in GTPS, although further study is needed to determine the role for Korean medicine.

The purpose of this study is to report a clinical progress of sudden hearing loss through korean medicine. Between 26th Mar. 2014 and 19th Apr. 2014, she was treated with Chuna manual therapy every day and observed by Pure Tone Audiometry (before and after) and visual analogue pain scale (VAS). A patient was diagnosed with sudden hearing loss on 23th Dec. 2013 in Severance Hospital, she had sudden hearing loss on left side. She had 19 times treatments. At the first of treatment, her audibility was 20 dB on right side, 74 dB on left side and she had tinitus and ear fullness (VAS 8 / VAS 9). At the middle of treatment (2nd Apr. 2014), symptoms of tinitus and ear fullness started improving. State was tinitus VAS 6, ear fullness VAS 6. At the end of treatment (21th Apr. 2014), state was tinitus VAS 4, ear fullness VAS 4, and recorded 35 dB on right side, 80 dB on left side in pure tone audiometry. Chuna manual therapy is estimated to be good for sudden hearing loss especially on tinitus and ear fullness. More cases are required to develop treatment of sudden hearing loss.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the conservative treatment for supraspinatus tendinitis with kyphotic cervical curvature patient. Methods : We used chuna, Herbal medication, Acupuncture, Bee Venom Acupuncture, Physical Therapy for this patient. And we measured of VAS score, ROM and Extent of the subjective symptoms of shoulder pain to evaluate treatment effects. Result : Patient's shoulder pain and cervical curvature has improved. VAS score and Extent of the subjective symptoms of shoulder pain score were also decreased.

Objectives This study aimed to report the effectiveness of abdominal Daoyin and lymphatic circulation technique in conjunction with whole-body articulation mechanics technique therapy in treating indigestion. Methods Three patients who suffered from dyspepsia and abscess after consuming foods incompatible with their constitution, following a 10-year implementation of a constitutional diet at a local Korean Medicine clinic, visited a Korean Medicine Hospital. The patients underwent treatment with abdominal Daoyin and lymphatic circulation technique. The effects of these techniques were analyzed using a retrospective record analysis method. Results Following the implementation of abdominal Daoyin and lymphatic circulation technique for indigestion, the numeric rating scale scores improved significantly. Case 1 improved from 9 to 2, case 2 from 6 to 0, and case 3 from 5 to 1. Conclusions While acknowledging the limitations of being a case report involving only three patients and the absence of specialized outcomes for digestive issues, this report may provide a preliminary basis for considering the efficacy of Chuna manual therapy in indigestion treatment.

Objectives This systematic review aimed to analyze research about pelvic deviation diagnosis for Chuna manual therapy (CMT) and to review the diagnosis methods, indices, and results of diagnosis. Methods Ten electronic databases were systematically searched up to January 4th 2022. Clinical studies and reviews containing pelvic deviation diagnosis for CMT or using CMT as a treatment of pelvic deviation were selected and evaluated. CMT diagnosis in clinical studies and reviews were isolated and analyzed by 2 independent reviewers. Results Thirteen clinical studies and three reviews were included in the evaluation. X-ray analysis and manual testing were the two main methods used in CMT diagnosis of pelvic deviation. For manual testing in clinical studies, leg length insufficiency testing was the most frequently used measurement index and the most common diagnostic results were anterior and posterior rotation. In the X-ray analysis, Obturator foramen and femur head line were the most frequently used measurement index and the most common diagnostic results were anterior rotation and posterior rotation. Conclusions The systematic review found that manual testing and X-ray analysis were mainly used for the diagnosis of pelvic deviation in CMT among clincial and review articles. As there was little research about diagnosing pelvic deviation in CMT and any existing research presented only low standards of evidence, further research should be updated with using a more standardized approach.

The object of this study is to report a clinical effect regarding the conservative treatment of the patients who were diagnosed as the herniated intervertebral lumbar disc(HIVD). The patients were treated by the oriental medical conservative treatment including acupunture, Bee venom therapy and Chu-na therapy. We estimated by visual analogue scale and pain rating score subjectively. And we examined the patients with SLR test and valsalva test. Oriental medical conservative treatment improved HIVD subjuctively and objectively.
