우리나라 외항선사의 전략관리(戰略管理)를 위한 BSC의 有用性(유용성)에 관한 실증연구(實證硏究) (A Study on Usefulness of BSC for Strategy Management of Korean Shipping Companies)

  • 오늘날 균형성과표(BSC)은 균형적인 관점에서 기업의 성과를 측정하고 관리하는 도구로 각광받고 있어 많은 기업이 이를 도입 적용하고 있다. 최근에는 이러한 균형성과표가 불확실한 기업상황 하에서도 적절하게 전략을 수립하고 실행하는 데에도 기여할 수 있다는 연구가 제기되어 주목받고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 국적외항선사들이 불확실한 국내외 해운환경변화에 적절히 대처할 수 있는 전략의 수립과 실행에 균형성 과표의 유용성을 입증하여 외항선사들의 전략수행에 기여하고자 하였다. 연구결과에 의하면, 균형성과표는 해운시황변화에 대응하여 적절한 전략을 개발하고 실행하는데 유용성이 입증되어 기여하는 것으로 나타나고 있다.

정부출연연구기관 연구원의 안전의식 실태 및 제고방안 (Status of Researchers' Safety Consciousness and It's Improvement Measures in Government-Supported Research Institutes)

  • The statistics of the safety accidents in labs show that the biggest reason for them is researchers' carelessness and insecure actions. In this way, the safety accidents in labs are affected a lot by researchers' safety consciousness. Therefore, in order to prevent the safety accidents in labs, this study aims at measuring the degree of researchers' safety consciousness, grasping the elements affecting their safety consciousness and suggesting the measures to improve the lacking safety consciousness. To accomplish this goal, a survey was conducted and analyzed on the safety consciousness of 1,226 researchers working at 10 government- supported research institutes in Daedeok R&D Complex. As a results, the measures to improve researchers' safety consciousness will be suggested as follows. First, in an environmental aspect, improvement of labs' environment exposed to danger, interest and participation of CEO, regular discussion on the safety in labs, installment of safety equipments in labs, and enlargement of individual labs are necessary. Second, in an educational aspect, the safety education offered by institutes need to be enhanced, experiential safety education fit for the characteristics of research should be applied, the time for safety education must be observed, and the communication among team members through the collective education in department units and safe culture through the campaigns to enhance safety consciousness have to be established. Third, in a systematic aspect, sanctions have to be imposed on the researchers who do not attend safety education, the number of safety supervisors and safety budget of labs should be increased, a safety certification system need to be introduced when a lab is built, the problems in safety have to be open to all departments and rewards for the persons of merit in labs should be extended.

중소기업의 TQM활동이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of TQM Activities cn the Business Performance of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국내 중소기업에 있어서 전사적 품질경영(TQM: Total Quality Management)활동이 기업의 경영성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 규명하는 것이다. 그 결과 TQM 활동을 통하여 재무성과, 품질성과, 고객만족성과, 그리고 조직수용성과 등 4가지 관점의 경영성과를 향상시킬 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과 TQM을 도입한 기업이 전사적 차원에서 체계적인 품질경영활동을 수행함으로써 기업의 경영성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으므로 우리나라 기업들이 TQM을 도입 수행하여 지속적으로 활용해야 할 당위성과 필요성을 제시해 준 연구라고 할 수 있다. 또한 4가지 관점에서의 성과측정을 통해 TQM 수행 기업에서의 성과측정지표 선정시 수행목적에 따라 어느 관점에서 중점적으로 성과목표를 설정하여야 할 것인가에 대한 가이드라인 역할뿐만 아니라 향후 TQM 성과 관련 후속연구의 기본방향을 제시해준 연구라고 할 수 있다. 그리고 본 연구의 실증분석에서 도출된 TQM 활동요인과 성과측정 지표의 체계적인 관리를 통해 TQM 활동을 보다 효과적으로 수행함으로써 중소기업의 경영성과 및 기업경쟁력을 높이는데 기여할 수 있다고 본다.

ISO 14001 환경경영시스템의 요구사항이 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 중소기업 제조업체를 중심으로 (A Study on the Effects of ISO 14001 Environment Management Systems's Requirement on Management Performance : Focused on the Manufacturer in the Small Businesses)

  • Many enterprises have been adopting management systems good enough for them and operating the schemes to have competitive edge better than their competitor. One of the finest systems that most companies have been selecting is ISO 14001. ISO 14001, environment management system, is widely known as advancing internal efficiency and productivity in the various industries. As a result, the number of companies that have adopted ISO 14001's certification have been increasing continuously year by year since ISO 14000 standard was called in 1994s from ISO 18000 standard that originally used. The purpose of this study is to present that ISO 14001's requirement execution influences on management performance in the small manufacturer. In order to carry out this research, we obtained 96 survey sheets and inspected ten assumptions based on the reliability, validity of the questionnaires. The results of regression analysis are summarized as follows; First, the three factors of ISO 14001 requirement, plan, implementation and operation and management consideration, have an important effect on the operational performance. Second, the three elements of ISO 14001 requirement, environment policy, implementation and operation and management consideration, affect to the financial performance significantly. Based on the results, it is sure that the companies that execute the factors of implementation and operation and management policy have a good performance to achieve operational and financial performance so that it is important to clarify the member's role, authority and follow the procedure by a company's process. Also, the truth shows CEO's continuous will and periodical review of ISO 14001 influence on management performance as well.

M&A 과정에서 직급별로 인지하는 조직정치와 이직 의도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Organizational Politics and Turnover Intention by Position in the Mergers and Acquisitions)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the organizational politics, resistance change, turnover intention, and organizational commitment of organizational members during mergers and acquisitions. Recently, many companies are interested in mergers and acquisitions for business diversification and market extension. A merger is a legal consolidation of two entities into one, whereas an acquisition occurs when one entity takes ownership of another entity's stock, equity interests, or assets. This research model establishes a structural equation model. This model is set in a causal relationship between manager's organizational politics, peer organizational politics, and change resistance and the change resistance has a causal relationship of turnover and tissue immersion. In particular, this study will test different of organizational politics by position. Research results, the organizational politics of managers and colleagues have shown increasing change resistance. The change resistance has resulted in a reduction of organizational commitment and an increase of turnover intention. Next, the position analysis showed that top management level, middle management level, and working-level officials showed different organizational politics. The working-level officials are influenced by their manager politics and are influenced in organizational commitment and turnover intention by change resistance. The middle manager level is influenced by the organizational politics of bosses and colleagues, and organizational commitment is weakened by change resistance. The CEO level is not affected by organizational politics in the company, but the turnover intention is strengthened and the organizational commitment is weakened by the change resistance. This study has contributed to further updating the theory of organizational politics based on mergers and acquisitions. As a practical implication, we suggest an organizational integration strategy for a new organization.

후계농업인을 위한 인문교양 교육의 필요성과 강화방안 (A Study on the Necessity and Strengthening Programs of Liberal Arts Education for Second-Generation Farmers)

  • The decrease in the farming rates of agricultural produce importing countries has led to concerns over stable food supply and food safety and this situation demands a change in awareness on agricultural problems arising from the depletion of natural resources and environmental destruction. To preserve agriculture, importing countries are emphasizing the various roles of agriculture in order to revive its multi-functional aspects. It is obvious that differentiated strategies are needed to create values from agricultural production, and a liberal arts education can play an important role in making these strategies. However, training programs for future agricultural CEOs of the Korea National Agricultural College(KNAC) attaches too much importance on production skill and management rather than focusing on a liberal arts education. On the other hand, Poolmoo Ecological Agriculture Course carried out by Poolmoo Agriculture Technical High School located in Hongseong-Gun, Chungnam Province (which puts a high value on ecological fanning) gives more weight on a liberal arts education, taking up more than 50% of the curriculum. Also, the National Farmers Academy in Japan which reformed its whole system in 2008, has started various liberal arts educational programs. The Academy fosters creative agricultural management, attractive rural development enhancing a comfortable rural life and educates on the future of Japanese food and international environment. It is expected that the ecological and cultural roles of farming will grow in the future. So, what the KNAC needs is to increase its liberal arts educational programs and various cultural experiences in its educational curriculum to promote agricultural marketing with cultural knowledge and sensitivity.

Caffe Bene: Creating Values for Customers

  • Caffe Bene, one of the most notable coffeehouse chain brands in Republic of Korea, gives us some thought-provoking issues in terms of sustainable success. Despite harsh competition among various coffeehouse brands, Caffe Bene has been accomplished astonishing outcomes in domestic market and now ranked 2nd place in sales among the global coffeehouse franchise in 2010 and 2011. These achievements were possible mainly because Caffe Bene adopted distinctive shop design, maintained aggressive marketing strategy, developed new menu, and combined the unique Korean culture with ordinary concept of café to make its place attractive. However, since Korean coffeehouse market is getting saturated and consumers are becoming savvy about coffee, Caffe Bene needs to find a new solution to overcome growth stagnation. Besides, many experts pointed out that irrational increase in the number of stores might hurt its business in the aspect of managing distribution channel and providing consistent services. Also, customers of Caffe Bene have shown that it has to complement its critical weaknesses: inferior coffee taste and relatively high price for a cup of coffee. Especially, some people view that the company is shifting its high rental fee, interior cost and PPL marketing cost to consumers by charging high price for coffee. To get over the problems, Caffe Bene is currently using C/S Consumer Management System though experts are questioning about the efficacy because of the conflict between purpose of the system and the headquarters' plan. Present CEO Kim also announced that the company will complete its logistics system in the latter half of 2012 to provide stores with more high quality coffee beans to improve taste of coffee. Thus, in this case, we describe how Caffe Bene succeeded in Korean market and enumerate its key success factors. Also, we specify the long-term goals of Caffe Bene and introduce the current policies and strategies to show how the company is working on to achieve its ultimate goal. By reading and analyzing this business case, students could get useful insights regarding franchise management and think about issues on competing in a saturated market. Also, it would be worthwhile to generate creative solutions for the problems that Caffe Bene is now facing to broaden the practical perspective.

중소제조기업의 다운사이징 방식의 결정요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determinants of Downsizing Method in Small Manufacturing Firms)

  • 본 연구는 중소기업들이 실행하는 다운사이징의 방식이 정리해고, 명예퇴직, 임금삭감 등의 인력감축, 고정자산과 유동자산의 축소, 조직통폐합, 기능통폐합 등의 조직재설계, 조직문화의 변화 등 매우 다양하다는 점에 주목하고, 이와같이 중소기업들이 실행하는 다양한 다운사이징 방식을 결정하는 요인을 중소제조기업들을 대상으로 분석하였다. 본 연구결과에 따르면 첫째, 중소기업의 특성에 따라 다운사이징의 방식이 달라진다는 사실을 확인하였다. 즉, 중소기업의 규모와 성장형태는 다운사이징의 방식에 유의한 영향을 미치는 반면 기업의 경영경험은 다운사이징의 방식에 큰 영향을 미치지는 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 경영자 특성은 다운사이징 방식에 큰 영향을 미치지 않는다는 사실을 발견하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 통해 중소기업들은 자신들의 특성에 따라 단기적이고 즉각적인 효과를 시현할 수 있는 인력감축을 다운사이징 방식으로 선호하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 이러한 인력감축과 같은 방식은 그 효과를 차치하고, 자칫 조직구성원들의 사기를 저하시키고 조직몰입도가 낮아지는 등 부작용도 야기할 수 있다. 따라서 중소기업들은 기업의 어려움을 타개하는 수단으로 조직구성원의 사기에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 다운사이징 방식보다는 중장기적인 관점에서 생산성 향상, 경영혁신 등의 방식을 도입하는 것이 바람직하다.

제조업의 국제화가 국내고용에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 일본제조업 사례를 중심으로 (Impact of Internationalization of Manufacturing Industries on the Domestic Labor Market: The Japanese Manufacturing Industry)

  • Purpose - This study aims to seek various plans to maintain the advancement of the overseas and domestic employment scenario through a case analysis of the Japanese industry, which maintains domestic employment while promoting the overseas advancement of companies despite having a similar industrial structure as Korea. The study further intends to derive insightful implications for Japanese manufacturing companies and government policies. Research design, data, and methodology - We selected four companies from the Japanese manufacturing industry. Being companies that were successful in increasing the domestic employment scenario while advancing in overseas markets. We utilized several secondary data sources including Japanese newspapers and report literature. Results - Previous studies have shown a negative relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) or offshoring and domestic employment. However, our results showed this relationship with respect to the Japanese manufacturing industry as follows: 1. FDI for developing overseas markets does not decrease domestic production. If Japanese companies change their strategy from exports to overseas production, there will be a consequent decrease in domestic employment of Multinational Enterprises (MNEs). However, the local production that plans the sales expansion of a foreign market does not substitute domestic production. 2. Several case studies illustrate that, as the production of final goods is expanded in foreign countries, there is a corresponding increase in the export of intermediary goods from Japan. In this case, if the production process of Japanese companies is promoted in foreign markets, the amount of exported material and parts from Japan will consequently increase. 3. It is difficult to consider that the establishment of subsidiary companies in foreign countries by manufacturing companies for wholesale, retail, and services decreases domestic employment. This is because the international development of these industries needs expatriates, expatriate training organizations, and research and development (R&D) activities. 4. When there is overseas demand, the growth of local management activities is expected to increase the work of the overseas business department in the head office in Japan, if competitiveness can be secured for better localization and management speed. 5. The conversion of the domestic manufacturing industry into high value-added production is necessary. The relocation of domestic production to foreign markets decreases domestic employment. To prevent this, the upgradation of domestic production bases, including high value-added production, and R&D capability need to be strengthened. Technology-based companies must develop new technology, patents, processes, and so forth, which require extensive human resources for R&D. Conclusions - Domestic medium-sized companies that are capable of consistently supplying high value-added products should be actively encouraged to deploy into and develop overseas markets. Further, this paper considers the necessity of a guidance policy that provides suggestions for overseas deployment, by the initiation of the government, to companies that cannot do so due to the lack of foreign experience or decisions by the CEO, despite having the relevant capability and technologies to supply high value-added products.

5G 이동통신: 4차 산업 대동맥 (5G Mobile Communications: 4th Industrial Aorta)

  • 본 기술 해설 논문은 5G의 IoT, 증강현실, 클라우드 컴퓨팅, 빅데이터, 미래 자율주행주행차 기술을 다루면서 평창 동계 올림픽의 5G이용, 제주 스마트시티 모델을 제시했다. 그 이유는 5G는 4차 산업의 대동맥이기 때문이다. 5G가 4차 산업 대동맥인 이유는 5G가 4차 산업혁명의 핵심 인프라이기 때문이다. 인공지능(AI), 자율주행차, 가상 증강현실(VR AR), 사물인터넷(IoT) 시대가 본격화되려면 지금보다 데이터를 몇십배 이상 더 빠르고, 안전한 상태로 전송할 수 있어야 가능하다. 예컨대 원거리에 있는 자율주행차에 현재 통신 기술인 LTE로 정지 신호를 보낸다면 100분의 1초가량이 걸린다. 상당히 빨라 보이지만, 시속 100km로 달렸다면 차가 정지 때까지 30cm를 움직이기 때문에 안전을 장담하기 어렵다. 5G는 현재의 LTE보다 약 40배가량 빠른 '초당 20기가비트(Gbps) 이상'이다. 이론적으로 1cm 이내에서 차량을 세울 수 있다. 5G는 반경 1km 이내 사물인터넷(IoT) 기기 100만개를 동시에 연결할 뿐 아니라, 속도 지연이 0.001초 이하다. 세계 최대 스마트폰용 반도체업체 퀄컴의 스티브 몰렌코프 최고경영자(CEO)는 "5G는 미래를 연결할 핵심 요소이자 혁신 기술"이라며 "5G 상용화로 2035년쯤에는 12조달러의 경제 유발 효과와 2200만개의 새 일자리 창출 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것"이라고 말했다.
