  • In this thesis, a Synthetic Aperture Rarar Processor that is possible real-time handling is implemented using CW(Continuose Wave) laser as a light source, CCD(charge Coupled Device) as a time integrator, and AOD(Acousto-Optic Device) as the space integrator. One of the advantages of the proposed system is that it does not require driving circuits of the light source. To implement the system, the linear frequency modulation(chirp) technique has been used for radar signal. The received data for the unit target was processed using 7.80 board and accompanying electronic circuits. In order to reduce the smear effect of the focused chirp signal which occurs Bragg diffrection angle of the AOD has been utilized to make sharp pulses of the laser source, and the pulse made synchronized with the chirp signal. Experiment and analysis results of the data and images detected from CCD of the proposed SAR system demonstrated that detection effect is degrated as the unit target distance increases, and the resolving power is improved as the bandwidth of the chirp signal increases. Also, as the pulse width of the light source decreases, the smear effect has been reduced. The experimental results assured that the proposed system in this papre can be used as a real time SAR processor.

  • A prototype CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) imaging system has been built and the possibility of applying to the application to astronomical observations has been investigated. The CCD (charge coupled device) image sensor has been the mainstay of image capture and astronomical imaging for the last 30 years, but CMOS devices have shown rapidly increasing success and have been adapted to many commercial imaging systems . Although the photometric performances and system noise of CMOS sensors are lower than that of CCD image sensors, CMOS Imaging system can be used to obtain general image capture for astronomical applications.

  • High-resolution satellites such as Kompsat-3 and CAS-500 include optical cameras of MS (Multispectral) and PAN (Panchromatic) CCD (Charge Coupled Device) sensors installed with certain offsets. The offsets between the CCD sensors produce geometric discrepancy between MS and PAN images because a ground target is imaged at slightly different times for MS and PAN sensors. For precise pan-sharpening process, we propose a co-registration process consisting the physical sensor modeling and image matching. The physical sensor model enables the initial co-registration and the image matching is carried out for further refinement. An experiment with Kompsat-3 images produced RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) 0.2pixels level of geometric discrepancy between MS and PAN images.

  • This System is developed for the estimation of the Camera Lens Resolution. Signal data proportional to light intensity is obtained and sampled from the 2D CCD. Based on the measured signal. the MTF charateristcs of a camera lens are measured. We could measure the sagittal and tangential MTF in the on and off-axis at the same time. The automatic measurig methods for optimal image plane, magnification, and best marginal direction of test lens are presented.

  • The verial black stripe is one of the defects in a chrge-coupled device(CCD). Vertical black stripes are caused by some signal chrges which fail to transport form the vertical CCD region to the horizontal one. The defective transport of signal charges orignates in the potential barrier with the narrow width effects in the verti-cal-horizintal interface stuccture. The vertical black stripes show up when the charge transfer dfficiency is less than 99.2% under the low illumination condition. In this research, we designed and developed a new vertical-horizontal interface structre of a delta type, thus marking it possible to eliminate the vertical black stripes.

  • IP camera which transmits image signal in network includes web server, network interface unit and CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) module. IP camera is able to transmit image signals by network in real time and to monitor the scene image always by IP or Web address. IP camera is substituted for analog camera now gradually according to the development and progress of camera technology and expect it to extend the boundary in rolling stock gradually cause of the excellent expansibility and noise solution of analog camera. We survey the IP camera system composition in rolling stock and so this can be a help to develop and design IP camera system, because it has unsolved problems for common use of IP camera.

  • This paper offers a method to design CCD four-valued circuits using the tabular method. First, the four-valued logic function is decomposed by hand-calculation or computer program. Nest, the algorithm is derived form the tabular method based on the decomposition process to realize the DDC four-valued circuit. According to this algorithm, the two-variable four valued logic function is decomposed and realized by CCD network with four basic gates. The synthesis method in this paper proves that the number of devices and cost is considerably reduces as compared with the existing methods to realize the same logic functions.

  • Accurate extraction of traversable region is a critical issue for autonomous navigation of unmanned ground vehicle(UGV). This paper introduces enhanced extraction of traversable region by combining scene clustering with 3D world modeling using CCD(Charge-Coupled Device)/IR(Infra Red) image. Scene clustering is developed with K-means algorithm based on CCD and IR image. 3D world modeling is developed by fusing CCD and IR stereo image. Enhanced extraction of traversable regions is obtained by combining feature of extraction with a clustering method and a geometric characteristic of terrain derived by 3D world modeling.
