In this paper, we propose a system that can analyze appearance interval of casts by detecting and recognizing casts in broadcasting videos. The cast is one of the most important characteristics in broadcasting videos such as drama and sports. In this paper, we propose the ACAV(Automatic Cast-list Analysis in Videos) system that analyzes cast-list automatically in video. The ACAV system consists of FAGIS(FAce reGIStration) which registers detected faces into the face DB and FACOG(FAce reCOGnition) that analyses the cast-list in video sequence using the face DB. We evaluate performance of the ACAV system by comparing with FaceIt, one of the most well-known commercial systems for the cast-list analysis. The ACAV shows face detection and recognition rates of 84.3% and 75.7% that are about 30% and 27.5% higher than those of FaceIt, respectively. The ACAV system can be applied to mass broadcasting videos management system for broadcasters and video management system of PVR(Personal Video Recorder) and mobile phone for the public.
The purpose of this study is to propose the design of the patient's clothes for a disabled child between 4 and 6. For this, in this study, I would present the following design plan which includes 3 upper garments, 2 trousers and a one-piece dress. In case of the damage on head and neck, a neck line should be deep and wide thereby providing ease to the clothes. To facilitate injection and dressing/undressing, there should be parting from neck to cuff which can be fixed by snap or button. By rolling up sleeves with strings inside the cuffs and fixating plaster cast with snap button outside the cuffs. In case of body cast with plaster cast around body part, front adjusting part should be wider and the width should be adjusted with strings. In case of hip spica cast which covers waist, I separated front part and rear part, fixated them with snap buttons, gave more width to front adjusting part with strings to adjust width, which constitute one-piece dress. In case of shoulder spica cast, the other shoulder which is not covered with plaster cast should be exposed, and to prevent clothes' coming down, strings with snap button or velcro should be attached over a shoulder so that the length of the strings can be adjusted. In case of applying plaster cast or aid to the whole part of a leg, one part of trousers should be shorter so as to expose the injured part and there should be a parting with strings or velcros on the side for easy dressing/undressing. When plaster cast or splint is short, The strings are meant to adjust length of trousers. The partings are located 2 cm from side lines toward the center.
Reservoirs consist of two different environments, the littoral and the pelagic zone, and different fishing gear is commonly used in each zone-gill nets in the pelagic zone and electrofishing in the littoral zone. However, an active fishing gear, the cast net, is normally used instead of electrofishing for scientific studies in South Korea. In order to estimate cast net effectiveness for determining fish status in reservoirs, the study was conducted at 15 reservoirs with two different fishing gears: a cast net in the littoral zone and gill nets in the pelagic zone. When combining catches of both gears, species richness increased substantially compared to using one gear only. There was a size difference in fish caught by each net, and small fish were predominantly caught with the cast net due to its small mesh size (7 mm). The combined length of six species, used for length-weight relationship analysis, collected with the cast net was smaller than that collected with gill nets (independent t-test, P < 0.05). In this study, cast net sampling provided sufficient data for the littoral zone, but not enough to identify the overall fish assemblage in studied reservoirs. Utilization of only one gear can therefore lead to substantial underestimation of fish status, and a combination of both gears is recommended for determining more reliable estimates of fish status in reservoirs.

PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of the implant master cast according to the type (pick-up, transfer) and the length (long, short) of the impression copings. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The metal master cast was fabricated with three internal connection type implant analogs (Osstem GS III analog), embedded parallel and with $10^{\circ}$ of mesial angulation to the center analog. Four types of impression coping were prepared with different combinations of types (transfer, pick-up) and lengths (long, short) of the coping. The impressions were made using vinyl polysiloxane (one step, heavy + light body) with an individual tray, and 10 impressions were made for each group. Eventually, 40 experimental casts were produced. Then, the difference in the distance between the master cast and the experimental cast were measured, and the error rate was determined. The analysis of variance was performed using the SPSS (v 12.0) program (${\alpha}$= .05), and the statistical significance was set at P < .05. RESULTS. The ANOVA showed that the pick-up type impression coping exhibited a significantly lower error rate than the transfer type. However, no significant difference was observed with respect to the length of the impression coping. Additionally, no significant difference was observed between the parallel and mesial angulated groups. CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this study, the pick-up type impression coping exhibited a more accurate implant master cast than the transfer type in parallel group. The accuracy of the implant master cast did not differ for different lengths of impression coping of at least 11 mm. Additionally, the accuracy of the implant cast was not different for the parallel and $10^{\circ}$ mesial angulated groups.
The aim of this study was to compare features of muscle atrophy induced by cast fixation. denervation and suspension of rat hindimb. Muscle mass and glycogen of the soleus and plantaris muscles were studied after 3, 7, or 14 days of cast fixation, denervation and suspension. The results as follows: 1. Body weight of rats decreased significantly after 3 days and showed gradually increase after 7 and 14 days of hindlimb cast fixation, denervation and suspension. Particularly hindlimb suspended rats showed a rapid decrease after 3 days in body weight. 2. Relative weight of soleus and plantaris musclcs decreased significantly by hindlimb cast fixation, denervation and suspension, particularly after 7 days. The decrease rate was the lowest in suspended rats. 3. Glycogen content of soleus muscle decreased significantly after 14 days of hindlimb cast fixation, denervation and suspension. Also glycogen content of plantaris muscle decreased significantly after 14 days of hindlimb cast fixation and denervation, but not significantly after hindlimb suspension. These results indicate that suspension of hindlimb muscles causes less atropy than cast fixation or denervation, likely due to maintainment a few activities during hindlimb suspension. We concluded that the decrease in mechanical strains imposed on the muscle during inactivity was the main factor for the development of atrophy. These basic data suggest that some experimental conditions such as electrostimulation or stretching, participate in countermeasure programmes.
Flake graphite cast irons with the high damping capacity have been used for the control of vibration and noise occurring in the members of various mechanical structures under vibrating conditions. However, the damping capacity which Is morphological characteristics of graphite is one of the important factors in reducing the vibration and noise, but hardly any work has deal with this problem. Therefore, the authors have examined the damping capacity of various cast irons with alloying elements and studied the influences of the matrix structures, mechanical properties and morphological characteristics of graphite. The main results obtained are as follows: Effects of Sb on the damping capacities and mechanical properties have been investigated in 3.6%C-0.2%Ni gray cast iron. At 0.02%Sb, specific damping capacity showed the maximum value, and decreased with further increase in Sb content. Mechanical properties showed opposite trend with the damping capacity. And then, effects of Ti on the damping capacities and mechanical properties have been investigated in 3.6%C-0.2%Ni-0.02%Sb gray cast iron. Specific damping capacity increased with increase in Ti content. Graphite length also showed same behavior. Tensile strength increased with Ti content due to refinement of pearlite. In the case of 0.14%Ti addition in 3.6%C-0.2%Ni-0.02%Sb cast iron, specific damping capacity and tensile strength was 36% and 25 $kgf/mm^2$ which are higher than 32% and 15 $kgf/mm^2$ at 3.6%C-0.2%Ni cast iron respectively.
The frictional capacity of auger-cast piles is often very small because of the disturbance of the soil surrounding the pile during the excavation process. Usage of expansive agents and a pressurized injection technique for auger-cast piles should improve the frictional resistance between pile and soil. This paper presents the test results of auger-cast model piles installed with expansive mortar in laboratory compacted weathered soil. The model piles were installed in a calibration chamber with a variation in the amount of expansive agent, the injection process and the chamber pressure. It was observed that the pile shaft resistance increases with the increased amount of expansive agent, and also increases when mortar is pressure injected. The shaft resistance increased up to 24% for the pile installed only with expansive mortar and increased up to 56% for the pile installed with the pressurized injection of expansive mortar, compared with that of piles with plain mortar.
Urinary bladder cancer is diagnosed through urine cytology and cytoscopy with biopsy. An atypical urothelial cast is often found by voided urine cytology in a papillary urothelial cell carcinoma. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the significance of the evaluation of urinary nuclear matrix protein (NMP22) level and Sure Path Liquid-based cytology (SP-LBC) as compared to the examination of atypical urothelial cast in voided urine sediment for monitoring bladder cancer. From October 2007 to January 2008, we observed 3240 patients who visited the emergency laboratory of urology of Soonchunhyang University, Cheonan Hospital. Both NMP22 measurement and SP-LBC were performed in 31 patients who were positive in an atypical urothelial cast test. In particular, 26 men and 5 women were found to be atypical urothelial cast-positive persons. The average age for both men and women is 61.8. NMP22 test is positive in 23 of 31 cases (74.2%) from patients with atypical urothelial cast, while the test is negative in 8 of 31 cases (25.8%). The percentages of negativity, atypicality, suspicious malignancy, and malignancy in SP-LBC are 25.8% (8/31), 58.1% (18/31), 9.7% (3/31), and 6.5% (2/31), respectively. The relation of NMP22 positivity with the malignant degree in LBC is significant (P<0.01). Two malignant patients resulting from SP-LBC show the same results in histological examination. Overall, the study suggests the usefulness of NMP22 measurement and LBC as well as the examination of atypical urothelial cast for the diagnosis of early bladder cancer.
New PHC piles, where short steel pipes are attached to the pile toe, are developed to increase the base load capacity of bored pre-cast piles embedded in weathered rock. In this study, new bored pre-cast piles using the new PHC piles are installed at 7 test sites with different soil conditions, and static and dynamic pile load tests are performed to investigate quantitative characteristics on the base load capacity of new bored pre-cast piles. In addition, based on the static pile load test results, a new empirical equation for estimating the base load capacity of new bored pre-cast piles is proposed. A comparison between predicted and measured base load capacities shows that the proposed empirical equation produces conservative predictions for the new bored pre-cast piles. However, the existing design criterion significantly underestimates the base load capacity of new bored pre-cast piles.
Cast iron pipe has been used as a water distribution technology in North America since the early nineteenth century. The first cast iron pipes were made of grey cast iron which was succeeded by ductile iron as a pipe material in the 1940s. These different iron alloys have significantly different microstructures which give rise to distinct mechanical properties. Insight into the non-destructive structural condition assessment of aging pipes can be advantageous in developing mitigation strategies for pipe failures. This paper examines the relationship between the small-strain and large-strain properties of exhumed cast iron water pipes. Nondestructive and destructive testing programs were performed on eight pipes varying in age from 40 to 130 years. The experimental program included microstructure evaluation and ultrasonic, tensile, and flexural testing. New applications of frequency domain analysis techniques including Fourier and wavelet transforms of ultrasonic pulse velocity measurements are presented. A low correlation between wave propagation and large-strain measurements was observed. However, the wave velocities were consistently different between ductile and grey cast iron pipes (14% to 18% difference); the ductile iron pipes showed the smaller variation in wave velocities. Thus, the variation of elastic properties for ductile iron was not enough to define a linear correlation because all the measurements were practically concentrated in single cluster of points. The cross-sectional areas of the specimens tested varied as a result of minor manufacturing defects and levels of corrosion. These variations affect the large strain testing results; but, surface defects have limited effect on wave velocities and may also contribute to the low correlations observed. Lamb waves are typically not considered in the evaluation of ultrasonic pulse velocity. However, Lamb waves were found to contribute significantly to the frequency content of the ultrasonic signals possibly resulting in the poor correlations observed. Therefore, correlations between wave velocities and large strain properties obtained using specimens manufactured in the laboratory must be used with caution in the condition assessment of aged water pipes especially for grey cast iron pipes.
