The growth mechanisms of graphite spherulite both in the nodular cast iron and the high pressuretreated Ni-C alloy were investigated by SEM, HRTEM and EELS. The internal microstructure and lattice image of graphite spherulite extracted from Ni-C alloy were compared with those of graphite spherulite extracted from the nodular cast iron. The ratios of $sp^2$ and $sp^3$ bonding in the respective graphite spherulite measured by EELS, are compared each other. The graphite spherulite of Ni-C alloy had little internal defects and much $sp^3$ carbon species compared to that of the nodular cast iron. Present difference in microstructural features and bonding characters indicated that the graphite spheruites in the high pressuretreated Ni-C alloy grew by different mechanism compared with those in the nodular cast iron.
PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of three techniques for correction of cast implant bars. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty cast implant bars were fabricated on a metal master model. All cast implant bars were sectioned at 5 mm from the left gold cylinder using a disk of 0.3 mm thickness, and then each group of ten specimens was corrected by gas-air torch soldering, laser welding, and additional casting technique. Three dimensional evaluation including horizontal, vertical, and twisting measurements was based on measurement and comparison of (1) gap distances of the right abutment replica-gold cylinder interface at buccal, distal, lingual side, (2) changes of bar length, and (3) axis angle changes of the right gold cylinders at the step of the post-correction measurements on the three groups with a contact and non-contact coordinate measuring machine. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and paired t-test were performed at the significance level of 5%. RESULTS. Gap distances of the cast implant bars after correction procedure showed no statistically significant difference among groups. Changes in bar length between pre-casting and post-correction measurement were statistically significance among groups. Axis angle changes of the right gold cylinders were not statistically significance among groups. CONCLUSION. There was no statistical significance among three techniques in horizontal, vertical and axial errors. But, gas-air torch soldering technique showed the most consistent and accurate trend in the correction of implant bar error. However, Laser welding technique, showed a large mean and standard deviation in vertical and twisting measurement and might be technique-sensitive method.

Numerical analysis is carried out to identify the appropriateness of the design codes that is available for the tensile design of fastening system at Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in this study. This study is intended for the cast-in-place anchor that is widely used for the fastening of equipment in Korean NPPs. The microplane model and the elastic-perfectly plastic model are employed for the quasi-brittle material like concrete and for the ductile material like anchor bolt as constitutive model for numerical analysis and smeared crack model is employed to simulate the clack and damage phenomena. The developed numerical model is verified on a basis of the various test data of cast-in-place anchor. The appropriateness of both ACI 349 Code and CEB-FIP Code is evaluated for the tensile design of cast-in-place anchor and it is proved that both design codes give a conservative results for real tensile capacity of cast-in-place anchor.
Four inorganic packing materials (zeocarbon, porous celite, porous glass, zeolite) and a earthworm cast were compared with regard to the removal of ammonia in a biofilter inoculated with earthworm cast. Physical adsorption of ammonia on packing materials were negligible except zeocarbon (23.5 g-$NH_3$/kg), and cell immobilization capacity have similar values irrespective of packing materials. Pressure drops of the packed bed were in order of earthworm cast zeocarbon zeolite porous glass porous. The maximum elimination capacity ($g-Nkg^{-1}$$d^{-1}$ ) of ammonia, which were based on a unit volume of packing material, were in order of zeocarbon (526) earthworm cast (220) porous celite (93) > zeolite (68) > porous glass (53). By using kinetic analysis, the maximum removal rates ($V_{m}$ ) and the saturation constant ($K_{s}$ ) for ammonia were determined, and zeocarbon showed superior performance among the five materials.
Recently researches that apply P2P networks to VOD streaming have been actively published In the previous works on VOD streaming, they aimed at achieving two major goals, which are zero-delay transmission and minimization of service rejection ratio. This paper proposes a new method, called ForwardCast, for VOD streaming based on a P2P-based multicasting tree in order to achieve theses two goals. In this method,- basically a new client selects one of the preceding clients and starts receiving a whole video from the selected one without any delay. In some situation, two preceding clients are selected to transfer the ending part of the video and its the remaining part simultaneously. In our experiment, ForwardCast can reduce the rejection ratio compared to previous works without increasing server stress.

In this paper, we were analyzed the vibration characteristics of the three-phase cast resin transformer using less than 50% of load in the field. Most of the cast resin transformer is less than 50% in the domestic field is used for load conditions. Consisting of a solid insulator cast resin transformer is generating lots of noise and vibration. In addition, because it is affected by Joule 's heat is used in light load conditions. As a results, the transformer vibrations at frequencies below about from 200Hz to 500Hz were detected. Vibration velocity depends on the load variations were found. Load up to approximately 20-30% in most cases the vibration velocity was found at 4,000 ${\mu}m/s$ or less, 8,000 ${\mu}m/s$ or more. Vibration frequency at light load conditions were generated at the 120Hz, 240Hz, 360Hz and 480Hz. At the load condition of from 10% to 20%, vibration velocity is higher than another. Most of the vibration velocity were identified at the 1,000 ${\mu}m/s$ or less. Using the vibration frequency and velocity measurements data, the load on the cast resin transformer analyzed the correlation of the burden. Therefore, this data could be found in the vibration characteristics of the light-load conditions. If the field measurements using the data perform diagnostics on the transformer, it's expected to be very effective.
The effects of austempering temperature, austenitizing temperature and time, added copper content and prior heat-treatment on the processing window of 3.6wt%C-2.5wt%Si ductile cast iron during austempering. The maximum processing window was obtained at 350℃ of austempering temperature. The processing window was increased with increased austenitizing temperature from 850 to 900℃; however, it decreased at 950℃. The processing window was increased with increased austenitizing time from 0.5 to 2 hours and rather decreased for 4 hours. The optimum condition of austenitizing was obained at 900℃ for 2 hours. The processing window was increased with copper content added in the range of 0.0~0.8wt%. The processing window was increased by prior normalizing heat-treatment and decreased by prior annealing in comparison with that for the as-cast state,
This study investigated the microstructure and wear properties of extruded hyper-eutectic Al-Si (15wt.%) alloy in an engine oil environment. The wear mechanism of the material was also analyzed and compared to conventional gray cast iron. In microstructural observation results of Al-15wt.%Si alloy, primary Si phase ($45.3{\mu}m$) and eutectic Si phase ($3.1{\mu}m$) were found in the matrix, and the precipitations of $Mg_2Si({\beta}^{\prime})$, $Al_2Cu({\theta}^{\prime})$ and $Al_6(Mn,Fe)$ were also detected. In the case of gray cast iron, ferrite and pearlite were observed. It was also observed that flake graphite ($20-130{\mu}m$) were randomly distributed. Wear rates were lower in the Al-Si alloy as compared to those of gray cast iron in all load conditions, confirming the outstanding wear resistance of Al-15wt.%Si alloy in engine oil environment. In the $4kg_f$ condition, the wear rate of gray cast iron was $6.0{\times}10^{-5}$ and that of Al-Si measured $0.8{\times}10^{-5}$. The microstructures after wear of the two materials were analyzed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). The primary Si and eutectic Si of Al-Si alloy effectively mitigated the abrasive wear, and the Al matrix effectively endured to accept a significant amount of plastic deformation caused by wear.

Many Korean domestic masonry structures constructed since 1970 have been found to be vulnerable to earthquakes because they lack efficient lateral force resistance. Many studies have shown that the brick and mortar suddenly experience brittle fracture and out-of-plane collapse when they reach the inelastic range. This study evaluated the seismic retrofitting of non-reinforced masonry with Hybrid Super Coating (HSC) and Cast, manufactured using glass fiber. Four types of specimen original specimen (BR-OR), one layered HSC (BR-HS-O), two-layered HSC (BR-HS-B), one layered HSC, and Cast (BR-CT-HS-O) were constructed and analyzed using compression, flexural tensile, diagonal compression, and triplet tests. The specimen responses were presented and discussed in load-displacement curves, maximum strength, and crack propagation. The compressive strength of the retrofit specimens slightly increased, while the flexural tensile strength of the retrofit specimens increased significantly. In addition, the HSC and Cast also produced a considerable increase in the ductile response of specimens before failure. Diagonal compression test results showed that HSC delayed brittle cracks between the mortar and bricks and resulted in larger displacement before failure than the original brick. The triplet test results confirmed that the bonding strength of the retrofit specimens also increased. The application of HSC and Cast was found to restrain the occurrence of brittle failure effectively and delayed the collapse of masonry wall structures.

PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of occlusal and interproximal adjustments of single implant crowns (SIC), comparing a digital cast-free approach (CF) and a protocol using 3D printed casts (PC). MATERIALS AND METHODS. A titanium implant was inserted at position of lower right first molar in a typodont. The implant position was scanned using an intraoral scanner and SICs were fabricated accordingly. Ten crowns (CF; n = 10) were subject to a digital cast-free workflow without any labside occlusal and interproximal modifications. Ten other identical crowns (PC) were adjusted to 3D printed casts before delivery. All crowns were then adapted to the testing model, simulating chair-side adjustments during clinical placement. Adjustment time, quantity of adjustments, and contact relationship were assessed. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (P < .05). RESULTS. Median and interquartile range (IQR) of clinical adjustment time was 02:44 (IQR 00:45) minutes in group CF and 01:46 (IQR 00:21) minutes in group PC. Laboratory and clinical adjustment time in group PC was 04:25 (IQR 00:59) minutes in total. Mean and standard deviation (±SD) of root mean squared error (RMSE) of quantity of clinical adjustments was 45 ± 7 ㎛ in group CF and 34 ± 6 ㎛ in group PC. RMSE of total adjustments was 61 ± 11 ㎛ in group PC. Quality of occlusal contacts was better in group CF. CONCLUSION. Time effort for clinical adjustments was higher in the cast-free protocol, whereas quantity of modifications was lower, and the occlusal contact relationship was found more favourable.
