조선 PLM 환경에서 경량 CAD 모델에 대한 요구사항 분석 및 적용 사례 (Requirement Analysis on Lightweight CAD Models in Ship PLM Environment and Its Application Examples)

  • Introduction of PLM in domestic shipyards is being retarded as ship PLM has yet to firm up return of investment and process integration. To implement a ship PLM system, it is required to share ship CAD model data in various design and manufacturing environments. Lightweight CAD models provide a promising solution for sharing CAD models in the product life cycle, which can expedite implementation of ship PLM in domestic shipyards in the near future. Compared to proprietary CAD models, it is easy for lightweight CAD models to be interfaced with various application systems and be connected to manufacturing information. In this paper, the reason why lightweight CAD models are necessary to implement a ship PLM system is addressed and current implementation results are introduced.

  • Web Services are a distributed component technology based on XML and Web. The Web Services are used to integrate heterogeneous systems under the distributed environment. In this study, the concept of Web Services for CAD (WSC) is introduced, which aims at interoperation with CAD systems using the Web Services. This paper introduces one part of the WSC which enables remote users or applications to retrieve the geometries and the design history of CAD models using the Web Services. This paper proposes an architecture of the WSC, the data model and the interfaces for retrieving CAD model information, and the way to apply the WSC to commercial CAD systems.

  • This paper presents a case-building algorithm which can control the design variables of which some variables are designated as the input (known) variables and the remainders are defined as the output (unknown) variables. The case-building algorithm can enhance the design ability by categorizing design case automatically. Common CAD programs for analysis and design of machine elements use a case-selection technique where a programmer set initially a few of design cases and users can only choose one of given cases. This paper also demonstrates the case-building algorithm by applying into CAD programs for power-screw design.

3D CAD 와 3D프린팅을 연계한 공학설계교육 활용 (Applications of 3D CAD and 3D Printing in Engineering Design Education)

  • Recently, 3D printing has received increasing attention due to its boundless potentials. Because 3D printing starts from 3D geometry information, computer-aided design (CAD) is an essential technology to build 3D geometry data. These days, education of 3D CAD for engineering students has been changed from the theoretical lecture to practical design training using commercial CAD software. As a result, open-ended design projects have replaced the traditional theoretical examinations to evaluate students' outcomes. However, such design projects are not enough to evaluate students' outcomes because their results are expressed in two-dimensional ways. In this paper, applications of 3D printing in engineering design education are discussed by describing the procedure and outcomes of design projects. It was found that the use of 3D printing could improve students' outcomes by fabricating real physical models out of their designs.

FreeCAD를 활용한 소형 셀카봉 설계에 관한 연구 (A Research about Compact SELCA -Rod design utilizing FreeCAD)

  • In this paper, We have conducted a Compact SELCA-Rod design by using FreeCAD. FreeCAD is many modern design applications such as Revit or CATIA. It is based on the concept of Workbench. A Workbench can be considered as a set of tools specially grouped for a certain task. Also It has an extensive list of features FreeCAD implements. We use this practical tool and proceed the research on Compact SELCA-Rod which is attracted the most IT-related products in 2014. SELCA-Rod is mostly based on rod-shaped form as in name. However rod-shaped design has the biggest problem for mobile Through this research, We propose a new type of SELCA-Rod. It is easy to carry and take pictures from different angle.

위상최적설계 결과를 이용한 CAD 인터페이스 (CAD Interface using Topology Optimization)

  • Topology optimization has been widely used for the optimal structure design for weight reduction and high performance. Since the result of three-dimensional topology optimization is represented by the discrete material distribution in finite elements, it is hard to interpret from a design point of view. In this paper, the method for interpreting three-dimensional topology optimization resuIt into a series of cross-sectional curve representation is proposed and interfaced with the existing CAD system for the practical use. The concept of node density and virtual grid is introduced to transform element density values into grid density and material boundaries in each cross section are identified based on the element volume rate to satisfy the amount of material specified in the original design intent. Design exampIes show that three-dimensional topology result can be converted into a form of curve CAD model and the seamless interface with CAD software can be achieved.

의류학관련 학과에서의 CAD의 경향 - 미국내 대학을 중심으로 - (The Trends of Computer Aided Design in the Clothing and Textiles Programs in U.S.A. Colleges & Universities)

  • 현재 미국에서 컴퓨터 디자인(Computer aided design)은 의류산업과 의류학 교육에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 한국내 의류학관련 학과에서의 CAD의 도입은 아직 초기 단계에 불과하다. 이에 본 연구는 미국내 대학을 중심으로 의류학관련 학과에서의 전반적인 CAD 교육 경향을 조사 분석하여 실질적인 자료와 국내 의류학관련 학과의 CAD 교육의 나아갈 방향을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 1993년 5월, 총 19문항의 질문지가 124개 대학 의류학관련 학과에 우편으로 배포되었으며 71부가 회수되어 57%의 회수율을 나타내었다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 조사 대상(71개 학교)중 56%가 CAD를 커리큘럼에 포함시켰다. 특히 의상디자인 전공을 가진 학과의 79%가 CAD를 도입하여, 의상디자인 전공이 없는 학과(28%가 CAD를 도입)보다 그 비율이 훨씬 높았다. 의류학 교육에서 CAD의 도입은 1988년 이후 급격한 증가 추세를 보였으며, 대부분의 강의는 의류학분야 교수진에 의해, 의류학과 시설물내에서 이루어졌다. CAD를 독립된 과목으로 강의하는 경우 대부분 필수과목으로서 한 학기 코오스가 많았으며 3학년부터 시작되었다. CAD를 다른 의류학 과목에 포함시켜 일부분으로 강의할 경우 영역 별로는 복식 의장학 분야의 과목에, 시간 별로는 한 학기 중 "몇 주" 정도로 가르치는 경우가 가장 많았다. 전체 CAD 강의에서 다루는 주제로는 패턴 메이킹이 가장 많이 차지하였으며 그 다음에는 패턴 그레이딩, 마커 메이킹, 직물/패턴 디자인, 패션 일러스트레이션, 의상디자인 순이며 스토어 레이아웃 상품전시 및 디스플레이 계획이 가장 적었다. 본 연구 결과는 현재 CAD를 강의하고 있거나 앞으로 CAD를 커리큘럼에 도입하려는 한국 의류학 분야 교육자에게 유용한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

합섬직물 설계디자인 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Synthetic Fabric Design System)

  • 최근 직물 디자이너를 위한 직물 디자인 CAD, 의류 디자이너를 위한 패턴 디자인 CAD와 같은 상업화된 많은 CAD 시스템이 운영되고 있다. 그러나 소재를 제직하는 직물 제직 공장에서 적용할 수 있는 직물 설계디자인 시스템은 아직까지 운영되고 있지 않다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 직물설계에 관한 데이터 베이스 시스템의 초기 연구로서 여러 가지 실의 번수, 직물조직, 원료소재에 따른 직물의 경사와 위사 밀도를 쉽게 결정할 수 있는 직물 디자인 시스템에 관한 연구를 직물공장에서 사용하고 있는 나일론과 폴리에스테르 등의 합섬직물 설계서를 분석하여 수행하고자 한다.

웹기반 협업을 위한 치수검증이 가능한 경량캐드파일 설계 (Design of Lightweight CAD Files with Dimensional Verification Capability for Web-Based Collaboration)

  • The demand for the use of 3D CAD data over the Internet environment has been increased. However, transmission of 3D CAD data has delayed the communication effectiveness because of the CAD data size. Lightweight CAD file design methodology is required for rapid transmission in the distributed environment. In this paper, to derive lightweight CAD files from commercial CAD systems, a file translation system producing a native file is constructed first by using the InterOp and API of the ACIS kernel. Using the B-rep model and mesh data extracted from the native file, the lightweight CAD file with topological information is constructed as a binary file. Since the lightweight CAD file retains topological information, it is applied to the dimensional verification, digital mock-ups and visualization of CAD files. Effectiveness of the proposed lightweight CAD file is confirmed through various case studies.

CAD를 이용한 도면 작성의 과정적 특성에 관한 연구 -AutoCAD 교재에 나타난 설계 사례를 중심으로- (A Study on the Characteristics of Drafting Process by Using CAD)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the drafting process by using AutoCAD for the basic course as well as to suggest the educational basic data of CAD in interior desigv. This research is to show not only practical use of CAD as a drafting tool function, but offering optimizing ways of AutoCAD command usage. The method used for this study is based on an analyzing of 6 types of total 98 types AutoCAD tutorial manual in CAD section of Kyobo book center. After the analysis of the AutoCAD command usage in creating floor plan, characteristics of drafting process is nearly the same as traditional drafting process. It means that traditional drafting process grafted on to computer aided drafting process. And the practical usage of AutoCAD command type is Draw, Modify, Format and View command in creating floor plav. That is emphasis on a specific functiov. Therefore, it should be developed basic course program which adapted various function of AutoCAD.
