The unsteady flow characteristics and the related noise of separated incompressible laminar boundary layer flows (Re$\sub$$\delta$/* = 614, 868, and 1,063) are numerically investigated. The characteristic lines of the wall pressure are examined to identify the primary noise source, related with the unsteady motion of the vortex at the reattachment point of the separation bubble. The generation and propagation of the vortex-induced noise in the separated laminar boundary layer are computed by the method of Computational Aero-Acoustics (CAA), and the effects of Reynolds number, Mach number and adverse pressure gradient strength are examined.
The unsteady flow structure and the related noise generation, which are caused by the separation of a two-dimensional, incompressible, laminar boundary-layer on the flat plate under the influence of local adverse pressure gradient, are numerically examined. The characteristic lines of the wall pressure are examined to understand the unsteady behavior of vortex shedding near the reattachment point of the separation bubble. Also, the generation and propagation of the vortex-induced noise in the separated boundary-layer are calculated by the method of computational aero-acoustics (CAA), and the effects of Reynolds number, Mach number and the strength of the adverse pressure gradient on the unsteady flow and noise characteristics are examined.
In this study, low noise designs of a Savonius wind turbines are numerically investigated. From a previous study, it was found that the high harmonic components whose fundamental frequency is higher than the BPF were found to be dominant in noise spectrum of a Savonius wind turbine. On a basis of this observation, S-shaped blade tip is proposed as a low design factors that decrease wind turbine noise by inducing phase differences in vortex shedding. The conventional Savonius and S-shaped turbines are investigated using Hybrid CAA method where flow field around the turbine are computed using CFD techniques and the radiated noise are predicted by applying acoustic analogy to the computed flow data. Noise reductions by these design factors are confirmed by comparing the predicted noise levels from these turbines.
Over the last few decades, noise has played a major role in the development of aircraft engines. The dominant noise is generated by the wake interactions of fan and downstream stator. Engine inlet and exhaust ducts are being fitted with liner materials that aid in damping fan related noise. In this paper, the radiation of duct internal noise from duct open ends with liners is studies via numerical methods. The linearized Euler's equations in generalized curvilinear coordinates are solved by the DRP scheme. The far field sound pressure levels are computed by the Kirchhoff integration method. Through comparison of sound directivity from bell-mouth duct with and without liners, it is shown that radiation from engine inlet is affected by liner effects or a soft wall boundary condition.
The Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) has attracted attention as an alternative numerical algorithm for solving fluid mechanics, and its intrinsic unsteadiness and weak numerical damping make it more suitable for aeroacoustic problems. In this paper, applicability of the LBM for solving flow noise problems is tested by applying it to predict transmission loss of a simple expansion silencer. The time history of the static pressure is recorded at the inlet and outlet pipes. The transmission loss (TL) of the muffler is computed by using three point method and two source method, respectively. The TL calculated using the LBM is compared with that computed using finite element method (FEM) and measured data. It is found through these comparisons that the LBM is capable of predicting TL of the simple expansion silencer accurately, which it is difficult to predict using the conventional CFD methods based on the RANS solvers.
In this paper, flow noise characteristics of Savonius-type vertical-axis wind turbines are numerically investigated using hybrid CAA techniques. High frequency harmonics as well as BPF components are identified in the predicted noise spectra from a Savonius wind turbine. As the BPF components belong to infrasound, the higher harmonic components affects human response dominantly. Further analysis is performed to investigate the reason causing the higher frequency harmonic noise by changing operational conditions of a Savonius wind turbine. Based on this result, it is revealed that the frequency of higher harmonic components is determined by the radius of blades and angular velocity of Savonius wind turbine.

An axisymmetric supersonic jet is simulated at a Mach number 2.1 and a Reynolds numberof 70000 to identify the mechanism of Mach wave generation and radiation from the jet. In orderto provide the near-field radiated sound directly and resolve the large-scale vortices highly.high-resolution essentially non-oscillatory(ENO) scheme, which is one of the ComputationalAeroAcoustics(CAA) techniques, is newly employed. Perfectly expanded supersonic jet is selectedas a target to see pure shear layer growth and Mach wave radiation without effect of change injet cross section due to expansion or shock wave generated at nozzle exit. The sound field ishighly directional and dominated by Mach waves generated near the end of potential core. Thenear field sound pressure levels as well as the aerodynamic properties of the jet, such asmean-flow parameters are in fare agreement with experimental data.

The program name TOLAPS is an acronym for Take-Off LAnding Profile Simulation. Some of the interesting features of this program is the ability to detect flight performance effects of airport altitude, ambient temperature, air pressure and wind. TOLAPS can also handle effects of TOW and LW. The program user can also calculate profiles by user difined flaps and thrust settings deviating from recommended standard settings for each aircraft. Wind effects on straight out flying as well as turns can also be demonstrated. Output form TOLAPS are either screen graphics of profiles (altitude, speed or thrust versus flight distance) or flight track. Profiles can also be made in a tabular form, ready for use in most airport noise calculation programs. In this way, TOLAPS is a valuable tool to evaluate effects of noise abatement procedures.

A cinnamoyl CoA reductase (CCR) cDNA (ClCCR) was isolated from tabroot mRNAs of Codonopsis lanceolata by cDNA library construction, and its expression was investigated in relation to abiotic stresses. The ClCCR is 1008 bp in length with an open reading frame (ORF) of 336 amino acids. The deduced amino acid sequence was showed high similarity with cinnamoyl-CoA reductases of P. tremuloides (AAF43141) 87%, F.${\times}$aranassa (AAP46143) 83%, L. album (CAD29427) 80%, E. gunnii (CAA66063) 72%, S. tuberosum (AAN71761) 83%. Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis was revealed that the ClCCR expression was regulated by abiotic stresses.
