  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the convergence accommodation to convergence (CA/C) ratio and to investigate relationships among age, accommodative amplitude and PD (interpupillary distance) of adults in their early twenties with normal binocular vision. Methods: 44 subjects (mean age, $21.75{\pm}1.16$ years) with healthy eyes were examined. The CA/C ratios were measured by using the difference of Gaussian (DOG) target with retinoscopy. Results: The mean CA/C ratio was $0.052{\pm}0.017$ D/$\Delta$. A moderate negative correction was present between CA/C ratio and age (r = -0.50, p = 0.0005), and a highly positive correction was found between CA/C ratio and accommodative amplitude (r = 0.79, p<0.0001). There was no relation between PD and CA/C ratio. Conclusions: The CA/C ratio presented was mean value for adults in their early twenties with healthy eye between 19 and 25 years of age. There was a high correlation between accommodative amplitude and CA/C ratio. Therefore, the CA/C ratio will be useful basic information for comparison in age, gender and binocular anomalies with similar data from other countries.

  • Purpose : This study was to examine a correlation of response AC/A ratio by additional spherical powers with PD(Pupilary distance) and relative accommodation, and was to investigate correlation of CA/C ratio by prism powers. The mean differences between a reciprocal response AC/A ratio and a CA/C ratio were compared, and were suggested to be used as data in the refractive power and prism prescriptions in the clinical. Methods: The open field autorefractometer (Nvision-K 5001, Shin nippon) and Howell target at 40 cm fixation distance to 62 persons with average $22.62{\pm}2.84$ ages were used to measure the response AC/A ratio according to additional Spherical powers. The CA/C ratios were measured using the DOG card at 40cm according to prism powers. Results: When the response accommodation according to Additional Spherical power changes and the response accommodation according to prism power changes were compared, it was larger than the response accommodation according prism power change. These were significant differences statistically. The correlation of response AC/A ratio and PD is showed as r = -0.158, the CA / C ratio is shown as r = 0.093. The correlation of response AC/A ratio and relative accommodation showed as r = -0.253, the CA/C ratio showed as r = 0.566 that is predictable correlation. The correlation of response AC/A ratio and CA/C ratio showed as r = -0.355 that is low minus correlation (p = 0.000). The difference between a reciprocal response AC/A ratio and a CA/C ratio showed $0.12{\pm}0.06D/{\Delta}$ with a significant difference statistically (p=0.000). Conclusions: The correlation of relative accommodation and CA/C ratio showed that depend on the individual, The more a relative accommodation is, the higher a response accommodation of convergence by convergence stimulus is. The reciprocal response AC/A and CA/C ratio showed significant differences statistically. This can have higher CA/C ratio in patients with low AC/A ratio in clinical as an independent variable. Thus when the abnormal binocular vision was prescribed in the clinical, it is necessary to consider the accommodative response even if the AC/A ratio is a normal range.

  • Effect of Ca/P mole ratio on the precipitates and powder properties of hydroxyapatite was investigated. Powder and precipitates of hydroxyapatite were synthesized by the reaction of Ca(NO3)2.4H2O and (NH4)2 HPO4 solutions at room temperature. The pH value and compositions (Ca/P mole ratio) in starting solutions were 11 and 1.64-1.79(or 1.85), respectively. Rodlike hydroxyapatite precipitates were agglomerated together. The average agglomerated particle size was ranged from 2-8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Among compositions, the minimum agglomerated particle size was shown at the Ca/P mole ratio 1.75. CO2 was contained in hydroxyapatite powders and these ultrafine powders had poor crystallinity. The specific surface area and specific total pore volume of hydroxyapatite powders were 104-137$m^2$/g and 0.396-0.467cc/g, respectively. When the Ca/P mole ratio was 1.75, these values were the maximum. And water content increased with the Ca/P mole ratio(Ca/P mole ratio>1.67). In most cases, hydroxyapaite was stable to 130$0^{\circ}C$. However, in the case of Ca/P mole ratio 1.64, hydroxyapatite was changed to $\alpha$-whitlockite at 120$0^{\circ}C$.

  • Hydroxyapatite powders were syntehsized by the reaction of Ca(NO3)2.4H2O and (NH4)2HPO4 in aqueous solution. The effect of the Ca/P mole ratio in the starting solution on the sintering of the powders and its microstructure was studied. When the Ca/P mole ratio in the starting solution was 1.69, the relative density of the sintered bodies was more than 95%. The sinterability was decreased as the Ca/P mole ratio in the starting solution was increased (Ca/P mole ratio >1.67). Hydroxyapatite sintered bodies obtained from the Ca/P mole ratio=1.69 had very excellent bending strength. The best bending strength was obtained at 110$0^{\circ}C$ and its value was 1220kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The average grain size was 0.277${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Most of sintered bodies were almost shown 100% hydroxyapatite phase. However, in case of the Ca/P mole ratio=1.64 hydroxyapatite was decomposed to $\alpha$-whitlockite above 120$0^{\circ}C$.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to measure and evaluate changes of visual responses in viewing a 2D and 3D (three-dimensional) image. Methods: The subjects were 44 college students aged 19 to 25 years with normal binocular vision. The visual responses measured were CA/C (convergence accommodation/convergence) ratio, convergence-induced PD(interpupillary distance), accommodative responses, perceived distance in viewing a 3D image. Results: Convergence and accommodative responses in viewing the 3D image were significantly larger (p<0.05) than in 2D. A moderate positive correction was found between CA/C ratio and accommodative response (r = 0.477, p = 0.001). It was indicated that smaller PD had larger depth perception. Convergence in viewing the 3D image was significantly larger (p<0.05) than that at cognitive distance. Conclusions: The visual fatigue may be more intense in larger CA/C ratio and smaller PD when viewing 3D images.

  • The effect of Ca/P mole ratio (Ca/P=1.60, 1.67, 1.75) in the initial solution on the mechanical properties of alumina added hydroxyapatite was investigated. Hydroxyapatite was synthesized by precipitation method using Ca(NO3)2$.$4H2O and (NH4)2HPO4 as starting materials and 5 wt% of ${\alpha}$-Al2O3 was added to precipitation solution. The powder was calcined at 800$^{\circ}C$ and sintered at 1,150∼1,400$^{\circ}C$ under water vapor atmosphere. With the increasing of Ca/P mole ration in the initial solution, the amount of tricalcium phosphate formed from the decomposition of hydroxyapatite reduced and the sinterability and mechanical properties were increased. The bending strength and Vickers hardness of the specimen sintered at 1,300$^{\circ}C$ with the Ca/P mole ratio of 1.75 in the initial solution were 230 MPa and 650 kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$, respectively. The improvement of mechanical properties was attributed to not only the effect of Ca/P mole ratio but also the strengthening of sintered body by Al substitution for P ions.

  • In this study, carbon aerogels (CA) were prepared by sol-gel polycondensation of resorcinol and furfural in isopropanol using hexamethylenetetramine as a catalyst, and then directly drying the organic gels under isopropanol freeze-drying conditions, followed by carbonization under a nitrogen atmosphere. The preparation conditions of the CA were explored by changing the mole ratio of resorcinol to furfural. The effect of the preparation conditions on the pore structure of the CA was studied by nitrogen adsorption isotherms. The characteristics of the CA were studied by scanning and transition electron microscopy, and infrared spectrometry. The accessibility of pores and performance of the CA as an electrode in electric double layer capacitors were also electrochemically investigated. As a result, BET surface area and specific capacitance increased with the molar ratio of resorcinol to catalyst (R/C) ratio; the maximum values of 765 ㎡/g and 132 F/g were achieved at the R/C ratio of 200, respectively. Consequently, it was confirmed that increasing the R/C ratio increased the average pore size of the CA electrode, which improved the rate capability of the system.

  • The exterior system of buildings, which is the typical curtain wall, has been made with glass and metal. Theses materials, however, have weaknesses such as inadequate insulating quality, short durability, combustibility and toxic substance. On the other hand, Autoclaved Aerated Concrete(AAC) or Autoclaved Lightweight Concrete(ALC) possess the great energy efficiency and the superb insulating quality as substitute of existing exterior system materials. In this research, strength characteristics and bubble dispersion of hydrothermal synthesis process of AAC based on CaO/$SiO_2$(C/S) ratio are analyzed. C/S ratio is determinated and bubble distribution and compressive strength are studied through the test of varied water-to-solid mineral ratio(W/S). In hydrothermal synthesis program, final C/S ratio is determined as 0.7 consider of the manufacturing process and hydrothermal synthesis is done at $180^{\circ}C$ for 7 hours. The analysis shows slurry has about 2,300cP viscosity and 0.56 specific gravity therefore it is expected AAC has the appropriate facility in the manufacturing process and Hydrates of AAC's Expansion.

  • In other to classify calcicoles and calcifuges and calcifuges within plant communities occurring on limestone and granite soils in chungbuk province, korea, soil propertile, constancy for species by prsence or absence, and ratios of soluble to insoluble $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ were investigated. In the limestone soils ph values and $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ content, ranging 7.26 ~7.48, 5.32~7.37 mg $Ca^{2+}/g$ and 0.42~0.62 mg $Mg^{2+}/g$, respectively, were higher than those in the granite soil with ph 5.76, 1.03mg $Ca^{2+}/g$ and 0.24mg $Mg^{2+}/g$. species with high constancy in the 5 communities were classified into three groups; species group a(29~36% of total number of species) was composed of species occuring on the granite soil; group c(16~24%) is commonly distributed throughout both soils. Ratios of soluble to insoluble $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ ranged from 0.1 to 81.3 in the group a, 0.2 to 0.8 in the group b and 0.2 to 8.7 in the group c. species within each group can be divided into two groups based on the values of the ratio, below or above 1.0. consequently, each of the group a and c was classified again into two groups; the group a1 and c1 with the ratio of above 1.0 and the group a2 and c2 withbelow 1.0 but the ratio could not further subdivide the group b. from these results it was proposed that plants of the group a1 were termed as obligate calcicoles, the group b as obligate calcifuges, the group c1 as facultative calcicoles, the group c2 as facultative calcifuges and the group a2 as avoiding calcifuges.

  • The calcium to phosphate ratio (Ca/P) in biphasic calcium phosphates powders using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) was characterized. The BCP powders with various stoichiometric Ca/P molar ratio were synthesized with coprecipitation process and calcination. Compositions of the powders with Ca/P molar ratio between 1.5 and 1.67 were subjected to starting Ca/P molar ratio, pH = 10, and thermal treatment up to $900^{\circ}C$. The structural, morphological and chemical characterizations for BCP powders with stoichiometric Ca/P ratio were carried out with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and a phase quantification was investigated by XRD. The solubility of HAp, $\beta$-TCP, and BCP powders was tested in the phosphate buffer solution (PBS) at $36.5^{\circ}C$ and pH = 7.4.
