Recently scientists and engineers are developing a system to get waste heat of low-temperature level with advanced heat pump, which have not been used up to now. As the reason, it is necessary to examine capability of using waste heat which is raised up in the tunnel of subway out of widely distributed low-temperature waste heat in large cities. Therefore we surveyed thermal environment of the tunnel of subway in $S\check{o}my\check{o}n$, downtown of Pusan, from November 1995 to December 1996 and developed a program to predict the thermal environment of subway on the basis of experimental data and the geometries of tunnels. This paper has proved availability of waste heat of subway when the measured results obtained in subway in the winter time and the simulated results of thermal environment prediction program are compared, as well as has reported results of estimating reliability of the simulation program. As the result, the charateristics of thermal environment in the tunnel of subway in $S\check{o}my\check{o}n$ station in the winter time are to be followed; 1) temperature in the tunnel is about $10^{\circ}C$ higher than outside air temperature, 2) temperature change in the tunnel is less than that in the platform so that we may obtain stable heat source, 3) and when the measured results obtained in subway in the winter time and the simulated results of thermal environment prodiction program is compared, both results show similar tendency. Therefore, we confirm estimating reliability of the simulation program.

Background: The ligand for CD137 (CD137L; also called 4-1BBL) is mainly expressed on activated APCs such as dendritic cells, B cells and macrophages. Even though CD137L functions as a trigger of the CD137 signaling pathway for T cell activation and expansion, engagement of CD137L can deliver a signal leading to the production of proinflammatory cytokines in macrophages. Methods: We generated cell-permeable TAT-CD137L cytoplasmic domain fusion protein (TAT-CD137Lct) and examined its ability to initiate the CD137L reverse signaling pathway. Results: Treatment of TAT-CD137Lct induced the production of high levels of IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ mRNAs and proteins in peritoneal macrophages. TAT-CD137Lct increased phosphorylation of Erk, p38 MAPK and Jnk, and activated transcription factors C/EBP and CREB. However, TAT-CD137Lct did not visibly affect the degradation of the inhibitor of NF-${\kappa}B$ ($IkB{\alpha}$). We further demonstrated that JNK activation was required for TAT-CD137Lct-induced production of TNF-${\alpha}$, while activation of Erk and p38 MAPK were involved in IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ production. Conclusion: Our results suggest that TATCD137Lct is an effective activator for the CD137L reverse signaling pathway.

The influence of liquid shotcrete accelerators(alkali aluminate, two types of alkali-free) was investigated. Comparing to the existing alkali aluminate accelerator, new alkali-free accelerator, AF2, shortened initial and final setting of cement system, and after curing for 1 day compressive strength was analogous with others. On the other hand, compressive strength of specimen cured for 12 hour was the highest by the addition of alkali aluminate accelerator, but final strength was the lowest by that. But compressive strengths of AF1, AF2 were similar to Plain up to 28day. Further from XRD(X-Ray Diffractometer) and DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimeter) analyses, we confirmed that setting promoted by alkali aluminate was mainly because of Ca(OH)2(calcium hydroxide), but the accelerating behavior of alkali-free was influenced by the needle-like ettringite$(6CaO{\cdot}Al_2O_3{\cdot}3SO_3{\cdot}32H_2O)$ crystal.

The present study was undertaken to classify and describe the riparian vegetation of the 6 river${\cdot}$stream of Korea Peninsula. As a result the vegetation was divided into nineteen communities. The vegetation units obtained in the present study were as follow: A: Salix koreensis community, B: Salix gracilistyla community, C: Robinia pseudo-acacia community, D: Amorpha fluticosa community, E: Brousonnetia papyrifera community, F: Phyllostachys bambusoides community, G: Rubus corchorifolius community, H: Phramities japonica community, I: Phramites communis community, J: Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, K: Miscanthus sinesis var. purpurascens community, L: Artemisia princeps var. orientalis community, M: Humulus japonicus community, N: Zoysia japonica community, O: Inperata cylindrica var. koenigii community, P: Agropyron tsukushiense var. transiens community, Q: Juncos effusus var. decipiens community, R: Rumex crispus community, S: Persicaria hydropiper community. The vegetation characteristics of riversides was recovered in the surveyed results according to river${\cdot}$stream basin, in other words, 10 communities in the upper river${\cdot}$stream riparian, 15 communities in the middle river${\cdot}$stream riparian, 10 communities in the down river${\cdot}$stream riparian. The Phragmites japonica community in the upper and Phragmites communis community in the down was analyzed by common community of the 6 river${\cdot}$stream riparian, respectively, but none in the middle. The standing profile of vegetation across 6 river${\cdot}$stream was seen stepwise Phragmites japonica community, Salix gracilistyla community, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens community, shrub community by natural waterway in the upper, Salix gracilistyla community, Phragmites communis community, Rumex crispus community, Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, Humulus japonicus community in the middle, Phragmites communis community in the down. The differences of distributional featurs of vegetation emerged from the riparian of the 6 river${\cdot}$stream, but don't from the 6 river${\cdot}$stream.

Angiogenesis is essential for solid tumor growth and progression. Among the pro-angiogenetic factors, vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), also known as vascular permeability factor, is the most important as a mitogen for vascular endothelium. The VEGF family of molecules currently consists of six growth factors, VEGF-A, VEGF-B, VEGF-C, VEGF-D, VEGF-E, and placenta growth factor(PlGF). Over-expression of PlGF is associated with angiogenesis under pathological conditions such as ischemia, inflammation, and cancer. Hence, the goal of this study is to identify the correlation of clinicopathlogical factors and the up-regulation of PlGF expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma. We studied the immunohistochemical staining of PlGF, PlGF gene expression and a real time quantitative RT-PCR in 20 specimens of 20 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma. The results were as follows. 1. In the immunohistochemical study of poorly differentiated and invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma, the high level staining of PlGF was observed. And the correlation between immunohistopathological PlGF expression and histological differentiation of specimens was significant (Pearson correlation analysis, significance [r] >0.6, P < .05). 2. In the PlGF gene RT-PCR analysis, PlGF expression was more in tumor tissue than in adjacent normal tissue. Paired-samples analysis determined the difference of PlGF mRNA expression level between the cancer tissue and the normal tissue (Student's t - test, P < .05) These findings suggest that up-regulation of the PlGF gene may play a role in progression and local metastasis in invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Rotavirus A (RVA) is recognized as a major etiology responsible for the development of acute gastroenteritis in children worldwide. The purpose of the present study was to perform the molecular characterization of RVA. A total of 323 stool specimens collected from hospitalized children with acute gastroenteritis in Chiang Rai, Thailand, in 2016-2018 were identified for G- and P-genotypes through RT-PCR analysis. RVA was more prevalent in 2017-2018 (37.8%) than in 2016-2017 (23.2%). The seasonal peak of RVA occurred from March to April. G3P[8] was predominant in 2016-2017 (90.6%) and 2017-2018 (58.6%). Other genotypes including G1P[8], G8P[8], G9P[8], and mixed infections were also identified. G3P[8] strains clustered together in the same lineage with other novel human equine-like G3P[8] strains previously identified in multiple countries and presented a genotype 2 constellation (G3-P[8]-I2-R2-C2-M2-A2-N2-T2-E2-H2). Several amino acid differences were observed in the antigenic epitopes of the VP7 and VP8* capsid proteins of the equine-like G3P[8] compared with those of the RVA vaccine strains. The homology modeling of the VP7 and VP8* capsid proteins of the equine-like G3P[8] strains evidently exhibited that these residue differences were present on the surface-exposed area of the capsid structure. The emergence of the equine-like G3P[8] strains in Thailand indicates the rapid spread of strains with human and animal gene segments. Continuous surveillance for RVA is essential to monitor genotypes and genetic diversity, which will provide useful information for selecting rotavirus strains to develop a safe and effective RVA vaccine that is efficacious against multiple genotypes and variants.

Two genera of the Rhodymeniales, Halopeltis and Leptofauchea, are here reported for the first time from the Hawaiian Islands and represent the deepest records for both genera. Molecular phylogenetic analyses of cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI), rbcL, and large subunit ribosomal DNA (LSU) sequences for Hawaiian specimens of Leptofauchea revealed one well-supported clade of Hawaiian specimens and three additional lineages. One of these clades is described here as Leptofauchea huawelau sp. nov., and is thus far known only from mesophotic depths at Penguin Bank in the Main Hawaiian Islands. L. huawelau sp. nov. is up to 21 cm, and is the largest known species. An additional lineage identified in the LSU and rbcL analyses corresponds to the recently described L. lucida from Western Australia, and is a new record for Hawai'i. Hawaiian Halopeltis formed a well-supported clade along with H. adnata from Korea, the recently described H. tanakae from mesophotic depths in Japan, and H. willisii from North Carolina, and is here described as Halopeltis nuahilihilia sp. nov. H. nuahilihilia sp. nov. has a distinctive morphology of narrow vegetative axes that harbor constrictions along their length. The current distribution of H. nuahilihilia includes mesophotic depths around W. Maui, W. Moloka'i, and the island of Hawai'i in the Main Hawaiian Islands. Few reproductive characters were observed because of the small number of specimens available; however, both species are distinct based on phylogeny and morphology. These descriptions further emphasize the Hawaiian mesophotic zone as a location harboring many undescribed species of marine macroalgae.

To learn more about the productivity of edible meat and its functional properties of spent hen, 60 White Leghorn fowls at 20 month of age were randomly divided into 6 groups, 10 hen for each group, and processed. As the productivity of edible meat, the yield of dressed carcass, giblets, cut-up meat, and breast and leg (thigh and drustick) muscles were determined. The approximate chemical composition, the content of salt-soluble protein, the emulsifying capacity and W.H.C. of breast and leg muscle were measured as the functional properties. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The average live weight of spent hen was 1,576.7g from which the yield of dressed carcass and giblets were 998.9g(63.4%) and 75.3g(4.8%) respectively. It means the yield of ready-to-cook form was 1,074.2g(68.2%) and the inedible byproducts was 502.5g (31.8%). 2. The average, weight of each part of cut-up chicken were: neck 41.0g(4.1%), wings 135.9g (13.6%), breast 276.7g (27.7%), legs 323.6g (42.4%). back 176.1g(17.6%) and the cutting-loss was 45.6g(4.6%). 3. The average weight of total edible muscle from breast and leg was 51.5g(85.86% of breast and leg cut weight) and the percentages based on the carcass and live weights were 51.6% and 32.7%, respectively. 4. The contents of H$_2$O, protein, fat and water-protein ratio of breast muscle were 72.95%, 20.54%, 1.59% and 3.55, respectively and those of leg muscle were 71.9%, 19.12%, 3.96% and 3.76%, respectively. 5. The salt-soluble protein contents of breast and leg muscle were 7.97% and 6.26% and their concentrations based on the total protein content were 38.8% and 32.74%, respectively. 6. The emulsifying capacity of breast and leg muscle was 43.23$m\ell$and 43.23$m\ell$, respectively. 7. The W. H. C- of breast and leg muscle was 54.23% and 52.61%, respectively.

Transparency on the Total System Performance Assessment (TSPA) is the key issue to enhance the public acceptance for a permanent high level radioactive repository. To approve it, all performances on TSPA through Quality Assurance is necessary. The integrated Cyber R&D Platform is developed by KAERI using the T2R3 principles applicable for five major steps in R&D's. The proposed system is implemented in the web-based system so that all participants in TSPA are able to access the system. It is composed of FEAS (FEp to Assessment through Scenario development) showing systematic approach from the FEPs to Assessment methods flow chart, PAID (Performance Assessment Input Databases) showing PA(Performance Assessment) input data set in web based system and QA system receding those data. All information is integrated into Cyber R&D Platform so that every data in the system can be checked whenever necessary. For more user-friendly system, system upgrade included input data & documentation package is under development. Throughout the next phase R&D, Cyber R&D Platform will be connected with the assessment tool for TSPA so that it will be expected to search the whole information in one unified system.
