The thyroid hormone responsive protein (THRSP) gene is a functional gene that can be used to indicate the fatty acid compositions. This study investigates the relationships of exonic single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the THRSP gene and fatty acid composition of muscle fat and marbling score in the 612 Korean cattle. The relationships between fatty acid composition and eight SNPs in the THRSP gene (g.78 G>A, g.173 C>T, g.184 C>T, g.190 C>A, g.194 C>T, g.277 C>G, g.283 T>G and g.290 T>G) were investigated, and according to the results, two SNPs (g.78 G>A and g.184 C>T) in exon 1 were associated with fatty acid composition. The GG and CC genotypes of g.78 G>A and g.184 C>T had higher unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) and monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) content (p<0.05). In addition, the $ht1^*ht1$ group (Val/Ala haplotype) in a linkage disequilibrium increased MUFAs and marbling scores for carcass traits (p<0.05). As a result, g.78 G>A and g.184 C>T had significantly relationships with UFAs and MUFAs. Two SNPs in the THRSP gene affected fatty acid composition, suggesting that GG and CC genotypes and the $ht1^*ht1$ group (Val/Ala haplotype) can be markers to genetically improve the quality and flavor of beef.

The aim of this study was to examine the ameliorating effect of black ginseng on the growth of the HepG2 cell transplanted tumor in BALB/c nude mice. 27 male BALB/c nude mice (all six weeks old) were randomly divided into three groups: the control group, the first treatment group (HepG2300RG, using 300 mg/kg red ginseng), and the second treatment group (HepG2300BG, using 300 mg/kg black ginseng). The HepG2300BG in the HePG2 cells showed increased mean survival time than that of red ginseng group. The size and volume of the tumor in the 300BG group showed significant reduction compared to those of the HepG2300RG group (p<0.05). The body weight and liver weight of the HepG2300RG group was not significantly different with control and HepG2300BG group. The serum levels of ALT and AST in the HepG2300RG and HepG2300BG group were significantly lower than those of the control group. In conclusion, these results suggest that the black ginseng may have possible anti-tumor activities.

The Red Book contains C.G. Jung's insightful comment on life suggesting the thoughts of the Eastern philosophers, particularly that of Lao Zi. The author reviewed Jung's commentaries in the Red Book in comparison with Lao Zi Dao De Jing. Jung's comments on the image of despised Surpreme Being, on the Simplicity, the attitudes of 'the Spirit of the Depth' toward intellectual knowledges and speech, toward the small and the mockered one resemble to what Lao Zi spoke on Dao in his Dao De Jing. The 'good and evil' are regarded by both C.G. Jung and Lao Zi as two poles in one total psyche. The favorite words of Lao Zi : 'emptiness' or 'empty' are frequently mentioned in the Red Book. The investigation in this concern revealed that C.G. Jung, contrary to Lao Zi has applied the word 'emptiness' mostly as the opposite to the fullness. C.G. Jung's way of encountering with the darkest side of soul in the Hell and his bold confrontation to the authoritative person such as Philemon, above all, the intensity of his experiences in the state of the utmost tension between the opposites are extraordinarily impressive and somehow strange when regarded from traditional eastern way of behavior such as I-You relationship and the patterns of emotional life based on Confucian tradition. Confucius never talked about the prodigies, feasts of strength and disorders or spirits. Lao Zi never mentioned infernal cruelty. Noteworthy is however, both have enough experienced the cruelty of life and conflicts in the reality and what they spoke was not a process in search for solution but the final proposals for the solution of human agony. C.G. Jung was, like great shaman in central and East-Asia forced to go through inferno in his unique way and from these experiences obtained the insight which resembles not only to Lao Zi but also to wisdoms from the western philosophies and also from the Christianity.

Daily feeding rates on parrot fish of different body weights (10-30 g, 40-60 g, 70-120 g, 130-240 g, 250-480 g, < 480 g) were investigated under six water temperatures of $15.1^{\circ}C$, $19.2^{\circ}C$, $22.5^{\circ}C$, $23.0^{\circ}C$, $24.7^{\circ}C$ and $26.5^{\circ}C$. The lowest and highest daily feed intakes (%/body weight/day) of the smallest fish group (10-30 g) were 2.24% and 6.04% at $15.1^{\circ}C$ and $24.7^{\circ}C$ temperatures, respectively. Daily feed intakes of 40-60 g fish group were recorded as 1.14% and 3.85% at 15.1 and 24.7, respectively. But, feed intake of bigger group (250-480 g) were 0.48% and 2.06% under $15.1^{\circ}C$ and $26.5^{\circ}C$, and these values were relatively lower than those of smaller fish groups. Daily feeding intakes of parrot fish fed extruded pellet tended to decrease when fish weight increased and water temperature decreased.

The present study investigated the effects of duck skin gelatin and carrageenan on the quality of semi-dried restructured jerky. Restructured jerky was prepared as follows: G0 (control, without duck skin gelatin and carrageenan), G0C (0.3% carrageenan), G0.5 (0.5% duck skin gelatin), G0.5C (0.5% duck skin gelatin and 0.3% carrageenan), G1 (1.0% duck skin gelatin), and G1C (1.0% duck skin gelatin and 0.3% carrageenan). The moisture content was the highest for the semi-dried restructured jerky from G0.5C and G1C groups, which showed the lowest for shear force value (p < 0.05). The processing yield of semi-dried restructured jerky with carrageenan was higher compared to that of the control group (p < 0.05). The rehydration capacities of G0.5, G0.5C, and G1C groups were significantly higher than the rehydration capacity of the control group (p < 0.05). Water activity, lightness, yellowness, flavor score, texture score, and overall acceptability were the highest (p < 0.05) for the semi-dried restructured jerky from the G1C group. No significant (p > 0.05) difference was observed in appearance score among restructured jerky prepared from duck skin gelatin and carrageenan. Thus, the addition of 1.0% duck skin gelatin and 0.3% carrageenan to semi-dried restructured jerky formulations results in the optimization of quality characteristics.

내환원성을 가지는 (Ca,Sr)(ZrTi)$O_3$계 C0G 원료와 코어 쉘 구조를 가지는 $BaTiO_3$계 X7R 원료를 적용하여 고압용 적층 칩 캐패시터를 제작하여 내부전극 형상 및 원료에 따른 신뢰성 밑 전기적 특성을 연구하였다. C0G 특성의 원료는 X7R 원료에 비해 단위 두께당 내전압이 감소하는 경향이 적었으며 내전압 특성도 우수하게 나타났다. 또한, 내부 전극 설계에 있어 floating에 따른 영향은 C0G, X7R 특성 원료 모두 향상된 전기적 특성과 신뢰성을 가짐을 확인 할 수 있었다.

다중 전송율(16, 24, 32, 40kbps)을 제공하는 G.726 부호화기는 ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation) 부호화법을 사용한다. 본논문에서는 G.726 ADPCM 알고리즘을 C&S Technology에서 개발한 음성 신호 처리를 위한 범용 DSP인 CSD17C00A 칩을 이용하여 실시간 응용이 가능하도록 구현하였다. G.726에 대한 양방향 평가는 Codec Loopback test을 통해 수행되었으며, W-T에서 제공한 테스트 절차에 따라 평가되었다. 본 논문에서 구현된 G.726 부호화기는 평균 11 MIPS의 계산 속도를 갖고, 프로그램 메모리 크기는 2.8K Words이고, 데이터 메모리 크기는 550 Words 를 필요로 하였다.

Although resistance of Helicobacter pylori to clarithromycin is a major cause of failure of eradication therapies, little information is available regarding gene mutations of clarithromycin-resistant primary and secondary H. pylori isolates in Korea. In the present study, we examined gene mutations of H. pylori 238 rRNA responsible for resistance to clarithromycin. DNA sequences of the 238 rRNA gene in 21 primary clarithromycin-resistant and 64 secondary clarithromycin-resistant strains were determined by PCR amplification and nucleotide sequence analyses. Two mutations of the 238 rRNA gene, A2143G and T2182C, were observed in primary clarithromycin-resistant isolates. In secondary isolates, dual mutation of A2143G+T2182C was frequently observed. In addition, A2143G+T2182C+ T2190C, A2143G+T2182C+C2195T, and A2143G+T2182C+A2223G were observed in secondary isolates. Furthermore, macrolide binding was tested on purified ribosomes isolated from T2182C or A2143C mutant strains with $[^{14}C]$erythromycin. Erythromycin binding increased in a dose-dependent manner for the susceptible strain but not for the mutant strains. These results indicate that secondary isolates show a greater variety of 238 rRNA gene mutation types than primary isolates, and triple mutations of secondary isolates are associated with A2143G+T2182C in H. pylori isolated from Korean patients.

The purpose of this study was to identify the associations between Lee Je-ma Sasang Constitutions and C. G. Jung's Psychological Types. In addition, this information could also be valuable in clinical practices. The QSCC II(Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II) and MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) was administered to 319 volunteer male soldiers($21.5{\pm}1.4yr$) in the army. The results were as follows; 1) Soyangin groups tended to be extroverted, sensing, perceiving types. 2) Soeumin groups tended to be introverted, sensing, thinking, perceiving types. 3) Taeumin groups tended to be extroverted, sensing, thinking types. 4) but, there were no Taeyang groups according to QSCC II. This results show that there are significant relationships between Lee Je-ma sasang constitutions and C. G. Jung's psychological types.

Effects of temperature ($13{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$, $23{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$) on the pharmacokinetic properties of oxolinic acid (OA) were studied after oral administration to cultured black rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli. Serum concentrations of OA were determined using HPLC-UV detector after a single dosage of 60 mg/kg body weight (average about 500 g). The peak serum concentrations of OA at $23{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$ and $13{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$ were $0.60{\mu}/ml$ at 30 h and $2.22{\mu}g/ml$ at 10 h post-dose, respectively. Better absorption of OA was noted at $13{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$ compared to $23{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$. The elimination of OA from serum was considerably faster at $23{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$ than at $13{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$. Both absorption and elimination of OA were affected significantly by temperature. The kinetic profile of absorption, distribution and elimination of OA in serum was analyzed by fitting to a two compartment model, with WinNonlin program. The AUC, Tmax and Cmax at $23{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$ were $42.16{\mu}g{\cdot}h/m\ell$, 26.13 h and $0.43{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. The AUC, Tmax and Cmax at $13{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$ were $131.98{\mu}g{\cdot}h/ml$, 8.81 h and $2.04{\mu}g/ml$, respectively.
