  • Morphology, anatomy and diurnal acid fluctuations were investigated monthly for the succulent C4 dicot Portulaca grandiflora Hook. growing under natural environmental conditions. Modified Kranz-Type sturcture and typical CAM-like cells were shown in leaves and stems, respectively. Values of indices of mesophyll succulence inleaves stems were 5.62 and 16.68, respectively. The number of stomata were 1476$\textrm{cm}^{-2}$ in leaves while the stomata in stems were not observed through growing seasons from spring to summer. However, on Sep. 16, 1981 in defoliate autumn season, stomata were begun to be produced for the first time in stems and the number were increased gradually to 216$\textrm{cm}^{-2}$ on Oct. 29. This feature can be interpreted as a seasonal plant dimorphism. P. grandiflora exhibited a diurnal fluctuation of titratable acidity in leaves and stems. Seasonal amplitudes of acid fluctuation in stems were as follows: 27 $\mu$eq./g.f.wt. on Sep. 21; 57$\mu$eq/g.f.wt. on Oct. 3; 80$\mu$eq./g.f.wt. on Oct. 21. Such the results in seasonal amplitude were able to consider due to decrease of light period and cool night air temperature according to change of season. Also, the naturally defoliated stems which had already stomata exhibited usual diurnal acid fluctuation, on the other hand the treated stems which possessed artificially closed stomata showed a few of acid fluctuation. Especially, stomata in stems are developed by seasonal dimorphism and activated stomata participate in CAM behavior of stems.

  • Two naturalized species, Chaerophyllum tainturieri Hook. (Umbelliferae) and Barbarea verna (Mill.) Asch. (Cruciferae) were newly reported from South Korea. C. tainturieri., 'Jeon-Ho-A-Jae-Bi', was found at World Cup park in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, in Seoul, and the genus Chaerophyllum is reported for the first time from South Korea in the present paper. It is distinguished from the genus Sphallerocarpus by having cylindrical fruit, and each furrow with one vitta. B. verna, 'Bom-Na-Do-Naeng-I', was found on a riverside area of Suyeong River, Geumsa-dong, in Busan. It can be distinguished from B. orthoceras by silique 4-8 mm long , seeds 1-2 mm long, and basal rosette leaves with a 4-11 large pairs of lateral lobes.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of Codonopsis lanceolata Bentk et Hook on the growth of lactic acid bacteria and some harmful bacteria. Extract of C. lanceolata was obtained by hydrothermal extraction method and used intactly without concentration. To investigate the inhibitory effect on the growth of harmful bacteria, we used agar dilution method. On agar plate containing more than 25% extract, they showed decreased number of colonies. • This study is aim to evaluate of the flexure toughness of fiber reinforced concrete with ring type steel fiber. The experiment proceeding ASTM C 78 is performed to make a comparision between the ring type flber and the double-hook type fiber which is recently come in to use. The size of the test specimen is 10$\times$10$\times$35mm and the flexture test is proceeded by third-point loading method. The test lasts until 2mm deflection and the loading speed is 0.01mm/min by deflection control. From the experimental results, the specimens with ring type fiber of 30kg/㎥ and 30mm diameter of ring circle show much higher toughness indices than those of the double-hook type fiber of 30kg/㎥ and 30mm long.

  • This paper presents an experimental study to investigate the behavior of mechanical anchorage of reinforcing bars in concrete members. Three kinds of mechanical anchorage which are a kind of headed reinforcements are considered in this study. Total seven specimens were prepared to consider the effects of anchoring methods (Type A, Type B and Type C) and anchorage lengths of the reinforcing bars (14 $d_{b}$, 12 $d_{b}$, 9 $d_{b}$). Pullout tests conforming to ASTM were carried out to assess the effects of several variables on anchoring strength of bars. Based on the test results, it was concluded that the behavior of the specimen anchored by the mechanical anchorage with the anchor-age length of 12 $d_{b}$, is as good as, or better than that of the specimen anchored by 90-degree standard hook.rd hook.

  • The fabrication of devices using plans technology could lend to n serious degradation in the breakdown voltage as a result of high electric field at the edges. An elegant approach to reducing the electric field at the edge is by using field limiting ring. The presence of surface charge has n strong influrence on the depletion layer spreading at the surface region because this charge complements the charge due to the ionized acceptors inside the depletion layer. Surface charge of either polarity can lower the breakdown voltage because it affects the distribution of electric field st the edges. In this paper we discuss the influrences of fixed oxide charge on the breakdown voltage of the p+/n junction with field limiting ring(or without field limiting ring).

  • To evaluate the mineral value , 27 samples of the wild Codomopsis Lanceolate used for herbs and sidedish were analyzed . All C.Lance-olate, though they inhabit in various zones , contain 21minerals inthe leaf , shoot and root. The richest mineral contained in the C.Lanceolate was noticed to be K. and folLowed by Mg, Ca and p. Thecontent of K.Mg, Ca .p and Fe is higher in the leaf than in theshoot and root. The content of mineral value is quite variousaccording to the geographical difference .

  • Stone column is the method that replace soft ground such as weak clay and loose sand with gravel or crushed stone which has relatively high stiffness and low compressive. Stone column increases bearing capacity of the soft ground, reduces settlement, produces ground improvement effect by consolidation drain, and is effective to prevent soil liquefaction in sandy ground during an earthquake. Stone column has been used in many civil works, and has recorded quite a lot of construction achievement internationally, but there is no standardized settlement calculation method yet. Therefore, in this study, the applicability of the existing theoretical equations were evaluated through comparison and analysis to predict a reasonable settlement of the Stone column. Consequently, Hook's law formula was verified to be the most close to numerical analysis.
