APPROXIMATION THEOREM FOR CONTRACTION C-SEMIGROUPS

  • In this paper we establish approximation of contraction C-semigroups on the extrapolation space $X^C$, by showing the equicontinuity of contraction C-semigroups on $X^C$.

  • Recently one of the present authors [2] asserted that a real hypersurface of a complex space form M$^{n}$ (c), c.neq.0, is of cyclic parallel if and only if AJ=JA and he showed also a complete and connected cyclic-parallel real hypersurface of M$^{n}$ (c), is congruent to type $A_{1}$, $A_{2}$ or A according as c>0 or c<0. A real hypersurface of a complex space form M$^{n}$ (c) is said to be covariantly cyclic constant if the cyclic sum of covariant derivative of the second fundamental form is constant. The purpose of the present paper is to extend theorem 3 and 4 in [2] when the hypersurfaces are of coveriantly cyclic constant, that is a real hypersurface of a complex space form M$^{n}$ (c), c.neq.0, is of covariantly cyclic constant if an only if AJ=JA, and a complete and connected covariantly cyclic constant real hypersurface of M$^{n}$ (c) is congruent to type $A_{1}$, $A_{2}$ or a according as c>0 or c<0.

  • The performance of Radial Basis Function Neural Networks depends on setting up the Radial Basis Functions over the input space which are the important design procedure of Radial Basis Function Neural Networks. The existing method to initialize the location of the radial basis functions over the input space is to use the conditional fuzzy C-means clustering. However, the researchers which are interested in the conditional fuzzy C-means clustering cannot get as good modeling performance as they expect because the conditional fuzzy C-means clustering cannot project the information which is extracted over the output space into the input space. To compensate the above mentioned drawback of the conditional fuzzy C-means clustering, we apply a fuzzy K-nearest neighbors approach to project the auxiliary information defined over the output space into the input space without lose of the information.

WHEN IS C(X) AN EM-RING?

  • A commutative ring with unity R is called an EM-ring if for any finitely generated ideal I there exist a in R and a finitely generated ideal J with Ann(J) = 0 and I = aJ. In this article it is proved that C(X) is an EM-ring if and only if for each U ∈ Coz (X), and each g ∈ C* (U) there is V ∈ Coz (X) such that U ⊆ V, ${\bar{V}}=X$, and g is continuously extendable on V. Such a space is called an EM-space. It is shown that EM-spaces include a large class of spaces as F-spaces and cozero complemented spaces. It is proved among other results that X is an EM-space if and only if the Stone-Čech compactification of X is.

The Formation of Compact Elliptical Galaxies: Nature or Nurture?

  • We present an analysis of the stellar population of compact elliptical galaxies (cEs) in various environments. Following conventional selection criteria of cEs, we created a list of cE candidates in the redshift range of z < 0.05 using SDSS DR12 catalog. We finally selected cEs with low-luminosity (Mg > 18.7 mag), small effective radius (Re < 600 pc), and high velocity dispersion (> 60 kms-1). We divide our cE sample into those inside and outside of the one virial radius of the bright (Mr < -21 mag) nearby host galaxy which is then defined as cEs with (cEw) and without (cEw/o) host galaxy, respectively. We investigated the stellar population properties of cEs based on the Hb, Mgb, Fe 5270, and Fe 5335 line strengths from the OSSY catalog. We found that cEw has a systematically higher metallicity than cEw/o. In the velocity dispersion-Mgb distribution, while cEw/o follows the relation of early-type galaxies, cEw are found to have a systematically higher metallicity than cEw/o at a given velocity dispersion. The different feature in the metallicity between cEw and cEw/o can suggest that two different scenarios can be provided in the formation of cEs. cEw would be the remnant cores of the massive progenitor galaxies that their outer parts have been tidally stripped by massive neighbor galaxies (i.e., nurture origin). On the other hand, cEw/o are likely to be faint-end of early-type galaxies maintaining in-situ evolution (i.e., nurture origin).

모바일 로봇을 위한 다단계 형태 공간 생성 방법에 대한 성능 검증 (Performance Evaluation for Multi-Level Configuration Space for the Development of an Efficient Mobile Robot Path Planner)

  • 모바일 로봇의 경로 계획을 위해 형태 공간(Configuration space)과 형태 장애물(Configuration obstacle)이라는 개념이 많이 활용되고 있다. 이 개념은 이동로봇을 공간 상에서 하나의 점으로 간주할 수 있도록 주변 장애물을 확장시킨다는 것으로, 이를 통해 장애물과의 충돌로부터 자유로운(Collision free) 이동 경로를 쉽게 찾아낼 수 있게 된다. 또한, 이러한 형태 공간 및 형태 장애물을 쉽게 생성하는 가장 보편적인 방법 중 하나는 이동 로봇의 형태를 원형으로 근사화하는 것이다. 이는 그 방법이 간단하기 때문에 이동 로봇의 구체적인 형태 및 이동 메커니즘을 고려하여 형태 공간을 생성하는 방법보다 형태장애물 생성 시간을 크게 단축시킬 수 있게 해준다. 하지만 이동 로봇을 원형으로 근사화하여 형태 장애물을 생성할 경우 비교적 가까이에 있는 실제 장애물들이 하나의 형태 장애물로 병합될 수 있다는 문제점이 있다. 이로 인하여 형태 공간내에서 이동 경로를 생성할 경우 최적의 이동 경로를 찾는다는 보장을 할 수가 없게 된다. 따라서 형태 공간 내에서 최적에 가까운 이동 경로를 효율적으로 찾도록 하기 위해 부분적으로 보다 정확한 형태 공간을 생성하면서도 전체 생성시간을 단축시킬 수 있는 다단계 형태 공간 생성 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 로봇을 원형으로 근사화시킨 뒤 시작지점과 목표 지점을 잇는 이상적인 경로를 생성하고 이 경로 상에 존재하는 형태 장애물이 로봇의 원형근사화로 인해 주변의 다른 형태 장애물과 병합되었다면 해당 형태 장애물에 대해서만 보다 정확한 형태 장애물을 재 생성한다는 방법이다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 기존의 정확한 형태 공간 생성 방법과 새롭게 제안한 다단계 근사화 형태 공간 생성 방법을 비교하기 위해 다양한 이동 로봇의 형태와 회전 각도에 대해 형태 공간을 생성하는데 소요되는 생성 시간을 비교 분석해 보았다.

  • Let M be a real hypersurface of a complex space form with almost contact metric structure $({\phi},{\xi},{\eta},g)$. In this paper, we study real hypersurfaces in a complex space form whose structure Jacobi operator $R_{\xi}=R({\cdot},{\xi}){\xi}$ is ${\xi}$-parallel. In particular, we prove that the condition ${\nabla}_{\xi}R_{\xi}=0$ characterize the homogeneous real hypersurfaces of type A in a complex: projective space $P_n{\mathbb{C}}$ or a complex hyperbolic space $H_n{\mathbb{C}}$ when $g({\nabla}_{\xi}{\xi},{\nabla}_{\xi}{\xi})$ is constant and not equal to -c/24 on M, where c is a constant holomorphic sectional curvature of a complex space form.

  • M.C Escher was not a mathematician or architect, but a visual graphic woodblock artist. He expresses space in various angles such as illusion and space not represented in reality, repetition, geometric pattern and change in space vision. However, as his works represent the impossible space which is virtually not exist in reality, they were examined numerically by scientists and mathematicians rather than by designers. Because his distinctive approach to view space, his works have been highly evaluated by scholars in various fields. Based on the previous research by mathematicians and scientists, this study will examine the sp- atial logic was represented visually in the works of M.C Escher and find out the possible and adoptable alternatives for new space design and provide the design application direction in the expression of interior space.
