  • Effects of NiO were studied in aspects of dielectric properties and microstructure of $0.96(0.91Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.09PbTiO_3)0.04BaTiO_3$ (PMN-PT-BT, PBT). The PBT was prepared by a conventional mixed oxide method using $(MgCO_3)_4{\cdot}Mg(OH)_2$ instead of MgO through Lewis acid-base interaction. NiO was added in the range of 0.5 to $3.0\;wt\%$ as thermally decomposable $2NiCO_3{\cdot}3Ni(OH)_2$ and it seemed to enhance densification to a large extent below $1000^{\circ}C$. But all the systems gave rise to ceramics with almost same relative sintered density of 96% by sintering at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. But it turned out that the addition of NiO was detrimental to dielectric constant but beneficial to the loss of dielectric constant.

  • We have launched an investigation for Embryonic Development, Larvae and Juvenile Morphology, of Buenos aires tetra in order to build basic data of Characidae and fish seeding production. We brought 50 couples of Characidae from Bizidduck aquarium in Yeosu-si, Jeollanamdo, from Korea on March of 2015. We put them in the tetragonal glass aquarium ($50{\times}50{\times}30cm$). Breeding water temperature was $27.5{\sim}28.5^{\circ}C$ (mean $28.0{\pm}0.05^{\circ}C$) and being maintained. The shape of fertilized egg was round shape, and it was adhesive demersal egg. The egg size was 0.63~0.91 mm (mean $0.74{\pm}0.07mm$, n=20). After getting fertilized egg, the developmental stage was gastrula stage, and embryo covered almost two-thirds of Yolk. Incubation was happened after 16 hours 13 minutes from gastrula stage, and the tail of juvenile came out first with tearing egg capsule. Immediately after the incubation, prelarvae had 3.78~3.88 mm length (mean $3.84{\pm}0.04mm$, n=5), and it had no mouth and anus yet. 34 days after hatching from the incubation, juvenile had 8.63~13.1 mm (mean $10.9{\pm}1.66mm$), and it had similar silver-colored body shape with its mother.

  • This study investigated the dyeing properties of silk fabrics with Annatto. The dye stuff was extracted by distilled water at $60^{\circ}C$, 10minutes, 1:100 of bath ratio. Dyeability(K/S) and color fastness of silk fabrics were tested under conditions of various concentrations, time, temperature, repeat-numbers of dyeing, pH, mordants variables and methods of mordanting. The highest absorbance was found in methanol extract of Annatto. The optimum dyeing concentration, time and temperature of silk fabrics with Annatto were 25%(o.w.f.), 60min and $60^{\circ}C$ respectively. The K/S value showed higher in post-mordanting than in pre-mordanting, and especially post-Fe mordant showed highest K/S value. In the case of colorfastness, Cu-mordanted fabrics were good washing fastness. Dry cleaning fastness appeared 4-5 grades and light fastness showed lowest grade.

  • This study was conducted to develop pizza crust with additions of Chungkukjang and onion. The stickiness of the pizza dough containing fresh Chungkukjang (C), heated Chungkukjang (HC), and fresh Chungkukjang with added dough-improver (CI), was measured to evaluate the dough properties. The optimum conditions for pizza crust preparation relating to the processing suitability and sensory quality were established using response surface methodology (RSM). When HC and CI were used in dough making, dough stickiness was reduced to 37% and 51%, respectively. Therefore, the dough-improver(2%) offered the pizza dough better rheological properties when C was used without heat treatment. On the other hand, processing suitability such as the spreadability and overall acceptability, which included the smell and taste of the pizza, were impaired as the amount of CI increased. However, the use of fresh ground onion in the pizza dough compensated for these impairments. The optimum conditions for pizza crust making as determined by RSM were 25.1% onion, 7.1% Chungkukjang, and 52.3 min of fermentation time.

  • To produce bioactive compound enriched yeast using medicinal Gugiga (Lycium chinensis Mill), several edible Saccharomyces species were cultured in Gugija extracts added yeast extract, peptone and dextrose medium (GE - YEPD medium) at $30^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr, and their growth were determined. Growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae K-7 and Sacchromyces cerevisiae ACTC 7904 were better than those of the other yeasts. Two yeasts were selected and then determined their some physiological functionalities after cultivated the yeasts in the GE - YEPD medium and compared those grown on YEPD medium. Antihypertensive angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity of S. cerevisiae K-7 grown on GE - YEPD medium was about 20% higher than that grown on YEPD medium. Superoxide dismutase-like activity of S. cerevisiae ACTC 7904 was also about 12% more high. However, the other physiological functionalities were almost same or lower. Optimal addition concentration of Gugija extract was 10%, and maximally growth and ACE inhibitory activity of S. cerevisiae K-7 were shown when the strain was cultured in 10% Gugija extracts containing YEPD medium at $30^{\circ}C$ for 12 hr.

  • In most digital communication systems over the noisy channel, some form of forward error correction scheme is employed for reliable communications. If one wants to recover the transmitted message without any knowledge of the error correcting codes employed, it is of utmost importance to figure out and reconstruct the error correcting codes. In this paper, we propose two algorithms of reconstructing linear cyclic codes from the corrupted received bit sequence, one for general linear binary cyclic codes and the other for Reed-Solomon codes. For two algorithms, we ran computer simulations and the performances are shown to be superior to those with the conventional LWM method.

  • Nickel powder was coated with aluminum nitrate solution to increase the thermal stability of a porous nickel support and control the nickel content in the Pd-Cu-Ni ternary alloyed membrane. Raw nickel powder and alumina coated nickel powder were uniaxialy pressed by home made press with metal cylindrical mold. Though the used nickel powder prepared by pulsed wire evaporation (PWE) method has a good thermal stability, the porous nickel support was too much sintered and the pores of porous nickel support was plugged at high temperature (over $800^{\circ}C$) making it not suitable for the porous support of a palladium based composite membrane. In order to overcome this problem, the nickel powder was coated by alumina and alumina modified porous nickel support resists up to $1000^{\circ}C$ without pore destruction. Furthermore, the compositions of Pd-Cu-Ni ternary alloy membrane prepared by magnetron sputtering and Cu-reflow could be controlled by not only Cu-reflow temperature but also alumina coating amount. SEM analysis and mercury porosimeter analysis evidenced that the alumina coated on the surface of nickel powder interrupted nickel sintering.
