Properties of Hardened Mortar depending on Combinations Blast Furnace Slag and Chlorine By-pass System Dust (고로슬래그 및 CBS Dust의 혼합비율 변화에 따른 경화 모르타르의 특성)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the properties of hardened mortar with chlorine by-pass system(CBS) in cement production in blast furnace slag(BS) mixed cement. Compressive strength had a tendency to be increased when the CBS Dust was replaced by 10% at the BS replacement rate of 0%. The 65% combination of BS showed a tendency to decrease as the CBS Dust exchange rate increases. Flexural strength was reduced as CBS Dust exchange rate increases in BS replacement ratio of 0%. The use of 5% of CBS dust can contribute to enhance the quality of non reinforced concrete.

  • This study was conducted to confirm the effect of bypass dust on the hydration and mechanical properties of the cement pastes and mortar obtained from ordinary Portland cement (OPC), OPC-slag and OPC-fly ash system. The rate of heat evolution is accelerated with the content of By-pass Dust(BD). total heat evolution increased because alkali-chlorides activated the hydration of blended cement. Compressive strength and bound water content show maximum value at 5wt% By-pass Dust(BD) on each curing time in ordinary Portland cement and slag blended cement. Ca(OH)2 content of Ordinary Portland Cement increased as the content of BD and curing time. In blended cement, the formation of Ca(OH)2 is active at early hydration stage. By pozzolanic reaction, the content of Ca(OH)2 is decreased as curing time goes by. According to the BD content stable chlorides complex of Friedel's salt (C3A·CaCl2·10H2O) is created. Due to the hydration activation effect of chlorides and alkali we observed Type II C-S-H, which developed into densest microstructure.

  • Asian Dust is a seasonal phenomenon which affects much of East Asia mostly in spring. The dust and sand storm originate in the deserts of Mongolia. northern China, and Kazakhstan. Asian Dust is carried eastward by prevailing winds, and pass over China, the Korean Peninsula. and Japan. In recent years, Republic of Korea, China, and Japan have participated in projects associated with implementation of observation network and reforestation in the source region. The information of Asian Dust can be exchanged in real time among the east Asian countries through the international co-operation.

  • Many problems are occurred by using industrial by-product and municipal solid waste in the cement manufacturing process. The main components of chlorine by-pass dust generated by the use of the wastes are $K^+$, $Cl^-$, and a slight amount of heavy metals is also contained. In terms of waste recycling, it is necessary to eliminate the heavy metals. Therefore, in this study, the experiments for the removal of heavy metals from KCl which was produced by chlorine by-pass dust were conducted. In order to find optimum conditions for the removal of heavy metals, we have controlled the amount of water and precipitator. The type and concentration of heavy metals in KCl were analyzed. The concentration of heavy metals decreased as amount of precipitator increased. The heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, and As were not detected in dust A and B, when the mixing ratios between dust A(B) and water were controlled to be 1:2 (1:2, 1:3.5) with the addition of 3% precipitator (NaOCl).

Experiment of Air-Shower to Reduce Particulate Matter in Apartment Housing (공동주택에서 미세먼지 저감을 위한 에어샤워 성능실험)

  • High levels of fine dust is an increasing health concern in major cities such as Seoul. To improve the indoor air quality of apartments, this study examined the ability of an air shower system installed in an apartment unit to remove fine dust (as defined by ISO 12103-A2) from various clothing items of building occupants entering their apartment. Results of the experiment indicate that an air shower system is effective in removing final dust from clothing after one pass through the system. The fine dust removal efficiency for various clothing items was 74% for a dress suit, 70.6% for hiking clothes, 63.3% for knit-wear, 50.5% for a cotton t-shirt, and 38.8% for a coat. Fine dust removal efficiency increased with a second and third pass through the air shower system by an average of 9.1 and 13.9 percentage points respectively compared to a single pass through the system.

  • In this study, use to CBS Dust as substitution of cement was explored. And the CBS Dust was intended to be used as a cement substitute, and the possibility as a potential water hardness stimulant for BS was investigated. Test results indicated that it can be used in with BS for a potential hydroponic stimulant.

  • In this study, it was intended to confirm the possibility of using the Durometer in estimating the setting time by comparing the Proctor penetration resistance with the Durometer type A of hardness in concrete substituting CBS Dust. With the hardness of Durometer type A, it is expected to be used conveniently in the field of practice as it is determined to be about 18 HD for the initial determination and 31 HD for the end measurement.
