Impact of Competency of Consulting Company on Business Performance: Focus on Franchise Companies

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to structurally verify how the competency of consulting company affects the business performance of consulting client firms through consulting achievement and consulting utilization. It aims to provide information for successful consulting and suggest strategic measures to improve consulting performance. Research design, data, and methodology - This study examines the structural relationship between competency of consulting company, consulting performance, and performance of consulting client firms. In this model, competency of consulting company consists of three sub-dimensions such as reputation, ability to perform business, and expertise. For these purposes, research model and hypotheses were developed. This survey was conduct ed for employees of companies that have experienced consulting in the past year. A total of 195 were used for this study. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and SEM with SPSS 18.0 and Amos 18.0 statistical program. Result - The results of this study are as follows. First, reputation, ability to perform business and expertise, which are sub-dimensions of consulting competence, was found to have positive effect on consulting achievements and also found to have a positive effect on utilization. Second, consulting performance was found to have positive effects on business performance of consulting client firms. It means that the management's willingness to utilize consulting results and the achievements of consulting performance have a positive effect on the company's management performance. Conclusions - Consulting firms need to perform customer-oriented consulting by accurately recognizing what management consulting is required by the client firms. The academic significance of this study was that the research was conducted through structural empirical analysis, not only from the relationship of competency of consulting company to consulting performance, but also to the relationship of business performance of client firms. In addition, the practical implication of this study is that clients can actively utilize the results of consulting to lead business performance.

The Effects of Business Startup Attributes on Customer Orientation and Business Startup Performance in the Foodservice Industry (외식산업 창업속성이 고객지향성 및 창업성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to figure out the effects of business startup attributes on customer orientation and business startup performance in the foodservice industry. To achieve this, a survey was carried on 300 entrepreneurs, who are running 5 or more years of restaurants in Seoul, through February 1 to February 28, 2013. The SPSS v. 17.0 statistical package program was used for data analysis. The results were as follows; First, the effect of business startup attributes on the understanding of customers' desires in the foodservice industry showed that business startup funds, business startup location, business startup facilities and business startup products had a significant positive effect on the understanding of customers' desires. Second, the effect of business startup attributes on customer relationship in the foodservice industry showed that business startup funds, business startup facilities and business startup products had a significant positive effect on the customer relationship. Third, the effect of customer orientation on business startup performance in the foodservice industry showed that the understanding of customers' desires and customer relationship had a significant positive effect on the business startup performance. These results suggest that business startup funds, business startup location, business startup facilities and business startup products in the foodservice industry are important, and the customer-oriented understanding of customers' desires and close adherence to customers lead to ultimate performance, supporting a stable management in the long term.

  • This study has provided the answer which construction companies to make complete competitive factors for sustainable growth in construction industry with to 21C environment changes. So the purpose of study is to provide a guideline for establishing the strategy of existence and growth. In order to carry out this purpose of study, above all after has been reviewed Quality Management by considering the characteristics of construction companies, TQM component and business performance, the study has been made a close inquiry in causal relationship between TQM component(leadership, participation, education-training) and business performance(safety) in construction industry. The result of the study can be summarized as follows : First, a test was conducted to whether TQM component(participation) has a significantly positive effect on business performance(safety). Second, it was found that there was a positive casual relationship between each of the TQM factors and business performance(safety). TQM(Total Quality Management) factors had great influences on the business performance of construction companies. So construction companies needed to make continuous efforts to enhance the business performance through TQM approach.

  • With the advent of COVID-19, the world economy has undergone enormous losses and unprecedented crises. Moreover, this pandemic has put a significant effect on all business organizations, comprising the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector. MSMEs have been continuing to develop business strategies and are eager to compete in the market. The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the full focus of MSMEs from 'business growth' to 'business survival' worldwide. E-commerce readiness plays a crucial role in a time of uncertainty and crisis during COVID-19 and affects the durability and sustainability of the business. This study attempts to study the readiness of online business and "E-commerce" adoption of MSMEs and its contribution to economic growth by utilizing both qualitative and quantitative techniques in the case of India. We use content analysis to determine the readiness of online business and Ecommerce in the post COVID-19 period. The result highlights the specific issues of this sector such as the shortage of resources and disruptions in the supply chain & logistical issues during the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualitative analysis discloses that almost half of the respondents adopt online platforms along with additional challenges to sustain their business during the pandemic. This study utilizes annual time series data for the period from 1973-74 to 2017-18 to understand the long-run relationship between India's GDP and MSMEs units. By utilizing the co-integration technique, this study reveals that there is a long-run relationship between MSME units and the economic growth of this country.

  • The purpose of this study was to discuss previous studies and theories on family business. This study were to examine the dominant trends in the precious research, and to introduce several conceptual frameworks and models, such as family business theory, family resource management theory, theory of household adjustment and adaptation, and family business viability model. This study will be helpful in understanding of the relationship between family and business, and the work-family interface, and in developing policies and programs that assist family business and enhance the well-being for family members who are involved in family business.

Especially mediating effect of professional education between independent variables and dependent variables. As a result of statistical analysis, 3 hypothesis were accepted and 1 hypothesis was rejected. H1. The relationship between small business owner's managerial competencies and business performance was positive. H2. The relationship between small business owner's technological competencies and business performance was not valid. H3. Professional education was mediating effect between small business owner's competencies and financial performance. H4. Professional education was mediating effect between small business owner's competencies and non-financial performance. This study founded professional education was mediating effect, especially partial mediating effect between small business owner's competencies and financial performance, non-financial performance. Factors Affecting Information Systems Modeling Ability

  • This study was initiated to investigate the essential skill factors for system designers in order to build the right information systems. The predicted variables are mathematical modeling skill, verbal modeling skill, general IT knowledge, and general business knowledge. The test was administrated to 43 students majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS) at Hannam University, South Korea. In this study, we used Pearson Correlation Analysis to test the relationships among variables. Overall, our study suggested that there is a strong positive relationship between mathematical and verbal skills and IS modeling ability. A marginal positive relationship between the general IT knowledge and IS modeling ability was also found. Unexpectedly, there was no significant relationship between general business knowledge and IS modeling ability.

  • The role and use of self-service technology (SST) becomes increasingly more important in the e-government service area. Users evaluate the service quality of SST in their everyday life and this evaluation works as a guideline of how SST should evolve for user satisfaction. This study classifies the types of SST according to its purpose and interface, and then investigates the causal relationship of service quality and user satisfaction. In the process, we introduced the three dimensions of service quality - usability, information, and empathy. The analysis results indicate that the three service quality dimensions have positive influence on user satisfaction. While the relationship between information and empathy is significant, that between usability and empathy is not significant. Implications and future research directions are also discussed.

The relationship between internal marketing and incremental innovation in small business (중소기업에서의 내부마케팅과 구성원들의 점진적 혁신의 관계에 대한 연구)

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between internal marketing and incremental innovation, and the moderating effect of firm size. The results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, based on the responses from 322 employees in small business, showed that almost internal marketing factors effects positively on incremental innovation. All internal marketing factors(CEO support, compensation system, education & training, internal communication, authority delegation) appeared to be related positively with process innovation and service innovation. And all other factors(compensation system, education & training, internal communication, authority delegation) except CEO support showed to have positive relationship with operation innovation. In the moderating effects, internal communication effects more positively on incremental innovation in large firm-size than in small firm-size. But delegation effects more positively on incremental innovation in small firm-size than in large firm-size.

  • This paper deals with an empirical study to statistically analyse various business performance on research and development(R&D) as an independent variables. The major results of statistical analyses have come up with the followings : First, the regression analyses between the growth rate and the opportunity of education showed the positive relationship. Second, the regression analyses between the productivity and the expenses of R&D showed the positive relationship. Third, the regression analyses between the profit and the mutual cooperation showed the positive relationship.
