Recently, many companies are trying to survive in a competitive business environment and they employ various kinds of information systems. Business Process Management (BPM) system is a software system that integrated enterprise information systems based on processes, which is considered an essential element for managing inner and outer processes. Though the BPM system has been applied to major processes only so far, companies begin to extends target processes applied into enterprise wide. In such settings, not only exact but also efficient management of processes is required. The efficiency of BPM has two perspectives: one is the performance of users that handle assigned tasks, and the other is the performance of the Business Process (BP) engine that carries out execution of processes. In this paper, in order to deal with the seconde perspective, we develop Drum, Buffer, and Rope (DBR) method, which have been considered innovative Theory of Constraint (TOC) method in manufacturing domain, for efficient management of processes. A new method, BP-DBR, has been developed, and we show that it is effective for business processes. The effectiveness of the method has been proved in terms of efficiency measures such as average process completion time and average number of completed processes, through a series of simulations on real banking processes.

기업간 경쟁의 격화와 정보기술의 발달로 인하여 많은 기업들이 공급사슬관리(SCM)를 도입하고 있다. 이에 따라, 공급사슬상의 관련 기업간의 상호작용과 정보공유에 기반한 공급사슬 통합이 추진되고 있으며, 웹서비스 와 같은 시스템에 독립적인 기술 적용의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 웹서비스를 이용하면서도 높은 수준의 공급사슬 통합이 이루어지기 위해서는, 여러 상호작용주체가 참여하는 글로벌 프로세스 수준에서 SCM 프로세스를 관리하고 제어할 필요가 있으며, 본 논문에서는 비즈니스 프로세스 자동화 및 관리도구로 최근 각광을 받고 있는 BPM을 도입하여 각 업무단위가 웹서비스로 구성된 환경에서 SCM을 구성하는 프로세스를 효과적으로 통합하여 실행하는 방안을 제시한다. 이러한 접근법은 SCM 프로세스의 진행과정을 보다 효율적으로 관리, 모니터링하는 것이 가능하며, SCM 프로세스의 수행결과를 토대로 프로세스의 개선에 대한 방안을 모색할 수 있다. 또한, SCM 프로세스의 진행과정에서 의사결정이 필요한 경우 이에 대한 지원 에이전트를 웹서비스로 구성하여 보다 신속한 프로세스 수행을 가능하게 한다.

세계 주요 기업들을 중심으로 비즈니스 프로세스를 보다 표준화하고, 명확화하려는 움직임이 어느 때보다 두드러지고 있다. BPM은 이러한 시도를 구현할 수 있는 적합한 도구로서 주목받고 있다. 최근 BPM으로 구현된 프로세스를 보다 효율적으로 실행하는 것이 이슈로 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 프로세스 효율성을 크게 프로세스 엔진과 업무담당자 관점에서 이를 해결하고자 한다. 프로세스 엔진 관점에서는, 엔진이 사용자에게 업무를 얼마나 효율적으로 전달하는지 바라본다. 업무담당자 관점에서는, 전달된 업무를 각 업무담당자가 어떻게 처리하는지에 주목한다. 본 연구는 각 단계에서만 효율성을 고려해왔던 과거 연구와는 달리, 두 단계에서 모두 효율적일 수 있는 방법론을 제안하며, 이를 실험을 통해 유효성을 검증한다.

The value of intangible assets of a company attracts attention in enterprise management environment drastically changing. Following such a trend, many companies have adopted knowledge management. Especially in construction industry of which success of a project is easily affected by the capacity of various participants and work performers, we may find many cases to which the knowledge managements have been adopted. However, the domestic design companies have tended to be late to introduce the knowledge management or have difficulty in effective use of KMS already constructed. This study suggests KMS based on BPM (Business Process Management) and drives its effects to improve problems mentioned above. We drives the expected effects by studying the existing studies and surveying domestic design companies and suggests Prototype for introducing a real system.

기업 프로세스 관리를 위한 컴퓨터 기반 응용 프로그램으로서 BPM(Business Process Management)에 대한 많은 관심은 시장 선점을 위한 여러 솔루션 벤더들의 독자적인 프로세스 정의와 저장 방식을 가져왔다. 호환성이 결여된 프로세스모델 정의는 국제적인 표준의 필요성을 제기함과 동시에 제정된 표준의 보급을 위한 적절한 적용 방법론을 요구하고 있다. 본 연구는 프로세스 모형화 측면에서 BPMN(Business Process Modeling Notation) 표준으로 기술된 프로세스 모델을 호환성 관점에서 XMI(XML Metadata Interchange) 기반의 중립 파일로 변환하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 21가지 워크플로우 패턴별로 변환 템플릿을 제공하였고, 기존 변환 방식인 BPEL4WS(Business Process Execution Language for Web Services)로의 변환 방식과 비교하였다. 연구 결과, 본 논문에서 제시한 XMI 변환은 기존 방식에 비해 완전한 변환이 가능함으로, BPM 공급업체들의 BPMN 적용에 실용적으로 기여할 수 있다.

업무프로세스관리(BPM) 시스템은 업무프로세스의 효율적인 실행, 통제 및 관리를 지원하는 소프트웨어 시스템으로서, 복잡한 프로세스를 자동화하고, 이를 효과적으로 관리하여 기업의 생산성 향상에 기여한다. 그러나, 상용시스템은 주로 프로세스의 자동화에 초점을 두고 있어 프로세스와 업무참여자 관점에서 효율적인 관리 방법을 제공하지 못하고 있다. 따라서, BPM 시스템은 프로세스 참여자와 전체 프로세스 효율성 향상의 관점에서 개선의 여지가 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 업무프로세스를 보다 효율적으로 관리하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 업무참여자의 업무부하를 고려하여 전체 프로세스를 실행하는 방식으로서, 프로세스 참여자원 가운데 가장 큰 제약요소를 집중관리한다. 이러한 방식은 경영혁신이론으로 알려진 제약이론(Theory of Constraints)의 DBR (Drum-Buffer-Rope) 방법론을 기반으로 하고 있다. DBR 방법론을 활용하기 위해 우선, 업무프로세스와 DBR의 주적용모델의 차이점을 분석하고 업무프로세스에 적합한 드럼, 버퍼, 로프를 개발한다. 이를 토대로, 업무참여자의 업무부하와 프로세스 인스턴스 발생 패턴을 통제하는 BPM만의 DBR 방법론(BP-DBR, Business Process-DBR)을 제안한다. BP-DBR은 업무참여자의 업무환경과 전체프로세스의 효율성 개선에 기여할 것으로 기대한다. 이러한 기대효과를 증명하기 위해 기존 BPM의 프로세스 관리방법과 제안한 방법의 효과를 시뮬레이션 실험을 통해 비교한다.

This paper suggests process knowledge management (PKM) which aims at lossless integration of business process management (BPM) and knowledge management (KM). To implement PKM, this paper suggests the concept of process knowledge and explores how to use them to extend the functionalities of knowledge management systems and process management systems by considering the lifecycle requirements of both knowledge and business processes. The framework and extended functionalities can provide a new corporate paradigm that combines the advantages of BPM and KM. Further, important corporate knowledge about business processes can be defined and managed in a single framework.

Recently, Korean government demands that public sectors like railway construction should improve their management efficiency. It is necessary for railway construction supported by government budget to aim at the companywide management efficiency. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is known as integrated performance management framework that helps a company to translate strategic objective info relevant performance within an organization. This paper focuses on relationship between KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) used to measure the performance of railway construction industry and process KPT for BPM (Business Process Management). Also, the vision and strategies of the railway construction is introduced, and the CSFs (Critical Success Factors) and the KPI based on BSC is developed. Finally, this paper explores that there is a possibility to fulfill the strategic objectives of railway construction industry through the connectivity between KPI based on BSC and process KPI based on BPM. We explain the detailed procedures with an example of railway construction industry.

기업환경 영역의 글로벌화 진전에 따라 파트너 쉽이 기업의 활동의 중요요소로 대두되고 있으며 협업을 위한 프로세스 관리에 어려움을 겪게 된다. 이렇게 확대 분산되고 있으며 잦은 변경, 프로세스 자체의 방대해짐과 복잡해짐과 동시에 사람의 판단에 대한 의존도가 높아지는데 따른 리스크의 증가를 극복하고 효율적인 경영을 하기 위해서는 기업을 구성하고 있는 고객, 파트너, 임직원, 정보시스템과 비즈니스 프로세스 등을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있어야 한다. 업무 생산성과 효율성을 높이기 위해서는 비즈니스프로세스를 중심으로 이러한 단위업무 들을 연계하고 자동화시킬 필요가 있으며, 이를 가능케 하는 해결책이 바로 BPM(Business Process Management) 솔루션이다. 본고에서는 통합 솔루션으로서의 BPM 과 그 적용 사례를 국내 기업 중심으로 소개한다.

최근 기업의 비즈니스 프로세스를 혁신하고 효율화하기 위한 다양한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있는 가운데, 의미 있는 비즈니스 프로세스 모델을 생성하고 분석하는 프로세스 마이닝 연구 분야가 주목받고 있다. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) 시스템이나 BPM (Business Process Management) 시스템에서 발생되는 업무 처리 내역이나 이벤트 로그를 분석하여 의미 있는 정보나 규칙을 발견해 낼 수 있는 프로세스 마이닝 기법은 다양한 분야에서 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 프로세스 마이닝 도구인 ProM 시스템을 실제 고장 수리 사례에 적용하여 고장 수리 프로세스를 분석하고 제품의 주요 고장 패턴을 발견하는 방법을 제시한다. 고장 수리 프로세스 분석 결과 단순 통계 분석 결과에서 발견할 수 없었던 연결된 흐름의 빈도 분석이 가능하였으며, 연결된 흐름들 중에서 문제가 되는 프로세스에 대한 업무 향상 방안을 제시할 수 있었다.
