PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of composite resin on the fracture surface of metal-ceramic depending on the repair systems and surface roughening methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 30 disk specimens were fabricated, 15 of each were made from feldspathic porcelain and nickel-chromium base metal alloy. Each substrate was divided into three groups according to the repair method: a) application of repair system I (Intraoral Repair Kit) with diamond bur roughening (Group DP and DM), b) application of repair system I with airborne-particle abrasion (Group SP and SM), and c) application of repair system II (CoJet Intraoral Repair System, Group CP and CM). All specimens were thermocycled, and the shear bond strength was measured. The data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis analysis and the Mann-Whitney test with a significance level of 0.05. RESULTS. For the porcelain specimens, group SP showed the highest shear bond strength ($25.85{\pm}3.51MPa$) and group DP and CP were not significantly different. In metal specimens, group CM showed superior values of bond strength ($13.81{\pm}3.45MPa$) compared to groups DM or SM. CONCLUSION. Airborne-particle abrasion and application of repair system I can be recommended in the case of a fracture localized to the porcelain. If the fracture extends to metal surface, the repair system II is worthy of consideration.
The effects of the number of Hangul syllable, the nunber/location of batchim in a Hangul word, and compound/noncompound Hangul word on memory span were examined. The results were that (1) the more syllables a word had, the lower us memory span was, (2) the more batchims a two-syllable word had, the lower its memory span was (Korean batchim effect on memory span), (3) noncompound word had higher memory span than compound word. The reading speed of above mentioned words was measured and the results were that (1) the more syllables a word had, the slower its reading speed was, (2) but the reading speed of a two-syllable word was forest when it had a batchim on second syllable than when it had no batchim or had a batchim on first syllable or batchims on both syllables (Korean ending batchim effect on reading speed), (3) noncompound word was read faster thu compound word. Korean ending batchim effect on reading speed was not compatible with the explanation by articulatory loop bur compatible with the explanation by visual cache where the orthographic information was represented. The results suggest that memory span was influenced nor only by phonological information but also by orthographic information.

Background: This study aimed to investigate new bone formation using recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (rhBMP-2) and locally applied bisphosphonate in rat calvarial defects. Methods: Thirty-six rats were studied. Two circular 5 mm diameter bony defect were formed in the calvaria using a trephine bur. The bony defect were grafted with $Bio-Oss^{(R)}$ only (group 1, n = 9), $Bio-Oss^{(R)}$ wetted with rhBMP-2 (group 2, n = 9), $Bio-Oss^{(R)}$ wetted with rhBMP-2 and 1 mM alendronate (group 3, n = 9) and $Bio-Oss^{(R)}$ wetted with rhBMP-2 and 10 mM alendronate (group 4, n = 9). In each group, three animals were euthanized at 2, 4 and 8 weeks after surgery, respectively. The specimens were then analyzed by histology, histomorphometry and immunohistochemistry analysis. Results: There were significant decrease of bone formation area (p < 0.05) between group 4 and group 2, 3. Group 3 showed increase of new bone formation compared to group 2. In immunohistochemistry, collagen type I and osteoprotegerin (OPG) didn't show any difference. However, receptor activator of nuclear factor ${\kappa}B$ ligand (RANKL) decreased with time dependent except group 4. Conclusion: Low concentration bisphosphonate and rhBMP-2 have synergic effect on bone regeneration and this is result from the decreased activity of RANKL of osteoblast.

This study was performed to determine the each location of lesions in the maxillary sinus and to evaluate the relationship between the floor of the antrum and the apical regions of teeth by the comparison of the panoramic view and panoramic sinus view. For this study, experimentally with two dry skulls, jelly balls of 8mm and 15mm in diameter containing a short wire for the radiopacity similar to the cyst and clinically 5 patients having mucosal cyst in the antrum and 10 patients having periapical lesion of molar were used. The experimental cystic lesions were simulated with jelly ball being attached in turn to each wall of the antrum. The radiolucent periapical lesions of upper molars were formed by using round bur and the radiopaque periapical lesions were simulated by filling the former lesions with lead foil. Each panoramic view and each panoramic sinus view of the experimental lesions and patients were obtained by using panoramic machine and analyzed. The obtained results were as follows : 1. On the panoramic sinus view, the innominate line was approximately coincided with the most lateral portion of the antrum and the posterior wall appeared as the narrow area at the mesial side of the innominate line. The anterior wall occupied totally the mesial side of the innominate line, and the medial wall occupied the mesial half of the antrum. 2. In all cases of experimental cystic lesion attached to each wall of the antrum, the location of each lesion was able to be determined by applying Tube shift technic. 3. The palatal root and mesiobuccal root of the molar appeared as being transposed each other mesiolaterally on the panoramic and panoramic sinus views. 4. The panoramic sinus view was superior to the panoramic view in revealing the relationship between the floor of the antrum and the periapical lesion.

Introduction: Research on dental bone graft material has been actively conducted. Recently, demineralized dentin matrix material has been developed and introduced. This study examined the effect of demineralized dentin matrix material on bone healing. Subjects and Methods: The patients who received no treatment after extraction were used as the control group and patients who underwent demineralized dentin matrix material application in the extraction socket after extraction were used as the experimental group. Panorama radiography was performed at the baseline and at 3.5 months after graft material placement and CT was taken at 3.5 months after graft material placement for a radiologic evaluation. Bony tissue specimens were collected from the alveolar crest in the middle of the extraction socket using a 2 mm trephine bur after 3.5 months for the histology and hostomorphometric study. Results: 1. On the panoramic view, a higher bone density was observed in the subject group. 2. On the panoramic view, the bone density increased significantly in the extraction socket, from the baseline to 3.5 months: a 7 and 10 gray-level scale was observed in the control and experimental group, respectively (P<0.05). 3. The CT view evaluation at 3.5 months revealed significantly higher bone density in the subject group than the control group (P<0.05). 4. The histological findings showed more active new bone and lamellar bone formation in the subject group. Dentin with osteoinduction ability and enamel with osteoconduction ability appeared. 5. On histomorphometric analysis, the subject group showed significantly more new bone, lamellar bone area and lower soft tissue area (P<0.05). The difference between the groups was significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Bone healing was improved after the application of demineralized dentin matrix material and there was active new bone and lamellar bone formation.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of the composite resin bonded on the bleached enamel surface according to its surface treatment. 90 extracted human premolars were divided into six groups. : enamel unbleached (control group) and enamel bleached with 15% carbamide peroxide for 2 weeks (experimental groups: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5). The surface of bleached enamel in all experimental groups was treated by following manners. Experimental group 1 : catalase immersion for 3 mimutes. Experimental group 2 : catalase immersion for 15 mimutes. Experimental group 3 : artificial saliva immersion for 1 hour. Experimental group 4 : artificial saliva immersion for 48 hours. Experimental group 5: surface reduction of the bleached enamel about 0.5mm-1mm with superfine diamond bur. Composite resin molds(3mm height, 3mm diameter) were bonded to the untreated enamel and treated. The shear bond strengths of composite resin bonded to enamel of each specimen were tested with universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 5mm/min and 500Kg in full scale and analyzed statistically. The following results were obtained : 1. Control group had the highest shear bond strength with $19.92{\pm}5.14$ MPa and experimental group 5 had the lowest shear bond strength with $11.15{\pm}4.23$ MPa. 2. Control group showed significant differences in shear bond strength with experimental group 1(P<0.05). 3. Control group showed significant differences in shear bond strength with experimental group 5(P<0.05). 4. Experimental group 4 showed significant differences in shear bond strength with experimental group 5(P<0.05). 5. Experimental group 3 showed no significant differences in shear bond strength with experimental group 4(P<0.05).
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sealing ability according to types of spreader and compatibility of accessory cone used in lateral condensation method. 120 plastic blocks with canal preformed were instrumented with K-,H-files and Gates-Gllidden bur. Shaped plastic blocks were divided into six experimental groups according to spreader and accessory cone used in lateral condensation. Then they were obturated by lateral condensation method without -sealer. Six experimental groups were as follows: Group 1 : Filling with #30 spreader & #25 gutta-percha cone Group 2 : Filling with #30 spreader & Fine accessory cone Group 3 : Filling with #3 spreader & #25 gutta-percha cone Group 4 : Filling with #3 spreader & Fine accessory cone Group 5 : Filling with #20,#30 spreader & #25 gutta-percha cone Group 6 : Filling with #2, #3 spreader & Fine accessory cone All the blocks were stored in 100% humidor at room temperature for 2 days. Each block was placed in centrifuged for 20 minutes at 3,000 rpm. Apical leakage was mesured from the apical foramen to the most coronal level of- dye leakage in millimeter under a stereoscope. The data were analysed by ANOVA. The obtained results were as follows; 1. In groups using two spreaders(Group 5,6), the linear leakage was less than one spreader using groups(Group 1-4). 2. Tn groups using two spreaders(Group 5,6), there was no significant difference in linear leakage between standardized -spreader group and non standardized group (p>0.01). 3. When one spreader was used(Group 1-4), standardized-spreader groups showed less linear leakage than nonstandardized spreader groups(P<0.01). 4. In case of using same spreader(Groupl,2 & Group 3,4), there was no significant difference in linear leakage according to accessory cone type. 5. It needs to use one more spreaders to increase apical sealability.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop hydroxyapatite cement simplified procedures for reconstruction of craniofacial deformities. Due to its expense and characteristics of quick hardening time, it may be inappropriate for forehead reconstruction or augmentation. Therefore we hear by introduce a more precise, easy and cheap method. The authors report forehead reconstruction with hydroxyapatite cement for a patient who suffered from craniofacial deformity. Methods: Case report and literature review. Results: A 35 year old man came to us with forehead and temporal area depression. He had a history of brain operations due to traumatic epidural hematoma. A physical exam showed an evidence of right side forehead weakness sign. Authors made RP model of his skull and applied check framework with Kirschner's wires for measuring accurate volume and contour on the depressed right side forehead area on the RP model. After complete exposure of defect area by bicoronary insicion, absorbable plate which applied on skull area was removed. Using three Kirschner's wires, authors made check framework on the right forehead lively and fixed with 2-hole miniplates on the boundary of the defect. After checking asymmetry, hydroxyapatite was applied on check shape framework just above Kirschner's wire. After removing Kirschner's wire, we corrected minimal unbalance and contour with bur. Conclusion: Check framework with Kirschner's wire was very convenient and cost saving methods for forehead reconstruction with hydroxyapatite cement.

The purpose of this study is to present SCM as an innovative alternative to domestic feed industry, which seems in urgent need of introducing SCM to get competitive advantages. To fulfill the purpose this study tried to find whether the supply services of Korean feed industry are high contact service or low contact service. The results of this study are summarized as follows. It appeared that the functional qualify supply service quality influenced positively not only on customer satisfaction but also on customer loyalty. That is, it is necessary to improve the functional service qualify of supply practices in order to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty. But this study showed that the customer satisfaction did not influence the customer loyalty. And technical quality supply service had a positive effect on customer loyalty but it didn't influence customer satisfaction bur customer loyalty. As the results of this study it is identified that the services of supply practices of the Korean feed industry are tend to be high contact services rather than low contact services. Thus, the Korean feeding firms have to plan the supply strategy for converting the supply service from low contact services to high contact services gradually to get competitive advantages.
