Incheon Port has been served as not only the center of the Yellow Sea and port for trade with China but also domestic gateway port for the metropolitan area, playing a professional role as the greatest domestic Port which processes a variety of items such as imported raw materials, bulk cargo, oil and gas and so on. This study was conducted based on step by step business process between port entry and departure of ship, and incurred cost according to port industry classification and performance on the port facility. Bulk cargo and general cargo such as grain, food, steel, scrap metal, wood, coal, LNG, LPG and oil etc., which have a vast majority of import goods, have been treated by 57,062 thousand tons and 7,409 thousand tons of container cargo were processed at Incheon Port in 2009. Bulk vessels and carriers moving items such as LPG, LNG and oil recorded 38,836 thousand won and full-container vessels recorded 11,001 thousand won as the amount of notified port facility usage fees in 2008.
The aim of study is to analyze the berth occupancy rate according to the ship size. P Iron and steel company operate exclusive bulk terminal at P port and G port and the depth of water at berth are not so equal each other. And to reduce the sea transport cost between loading port and unloading port P and G, P company increases the number of large ship while ship scheduling. But it causes to increase the berth congestion at the specific water depth berth owing to the draught of large ship. At this point, usually ship waiting time starts to rise even at low levels of berth occupancy rate, and will rise more and more sharply at the level of full utilization. But it is not common at exclusive terminal like P port and G port. Bulk ships arrive at port according to the early planned arrival time and the coefficient of variation of ship arrival time is not so big. So queueing time at exclusive terminal does not rise sharply near 80-90 berth occupancy rate.
Strategic partnerships of alliances and large shipping companies have been steadily launched in shipping market. Converting these alliances into customers and maintaining them important hub port status. The cases of container terminals to establish a political strategy based on. On the other hand, bulk terminals are relatively unexplored container terminal and bulk terminal are included in the same category of port empirical research from the overall perspective. Therefore, analysis of structural equations was utilized in this study. Analysis of the entire measurement model showed that all items except "Results - Intention of renewal" on bulk terminals were significant. This study is expected to contribute to promotion of empirical studies in various levels by compare container terminals and bulk terminals.
The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the impact and determinants of bilateral Free Trade Agreements on international total bulk shipment trade volume at the port of Korea using the Panel Gravity Model. The model estimates the aggregated panel data of exports and imports (excluding transshipment) as a dependent variable during the period from 1996 to 2015. GDP, GDP per capita, distances between bilateral countries, and FTA dummies are included as independent variables. And the economic integration of FTAs including ASEAN+3 and NAFTA3 countries were used as dummy variables. Study results show that GDP and GDP per capita have positive impacts on bulk shipment trade volume at the port of Korea. In addition, Korea's bilateral FTAs with Singapore, India and the United States have positive effects on total bulk trade volume in Korea. This is the so called trade creation effect. On the other hand, ASEAN+3 and NAFTA have negative effects on the total bulk trade. This is the so called trade diversion effect. Also, the distance between Korea and its trade partners has a negative impact. These findings provide insights for: further academic research, site operators who work in related trade and maritime sectors, and policy makers engaged in port and maritime operations. The results can be used to develop strategies for maximizing bulk port throughput.
Busan port's main function is handling container cargo compared to world major ports and the percentage of handling general cargo such as dirty bulk cargo is very low. In other words, although total cargo weight of Busan port that recorded the handling result of 13.29million TEU in 2008 reached 113.05million ton, total cargo weight of general cargo was 15.31million ton, so container cargo accounted for 88.1% of whole cargo weight. However, it is the time to create high added value by the increase of handling and marketing dirty bulk cargo. Originally, the dirty bulk cargo was not the avoided object from the first. Somehow, it is a very high added value cargo, and is surely essential strategic material to basic industries of nation. However, it becomes dirty bulk cargo as the companies are reluctant to handle it because of environmental problem, distinct characteristic in handling, uncertain break even point due to imbalance between supply and demand compared to container cargo. However, items that are classified as dirty bulk cargo now are certainly necessary strategic materials to national basic industries or national life. Besides it seems to be a high added value cargo here and now. Therefore, it is time that increasing of handling dirty bulk cargo by marketing it and the system for efficient handling such as constructing the exclusive use wharf in Busan port, modernizing of facilities and equipments, stable secure of place for holding and handling through development of distribution complex by item, efficient data processing and closer cooperation by setting up a SCM of related authorities are needful.

Various studies on Port and Terminal have been conducted to gain the competitive advantage, but they are limited to the bulk terminal than container terminal. Therefore, the study is to analyze the service quality of bulk terminal. The study first finds attributes of bulk terminals through professional groups and brainstorm. This study analyzes the difference between the perception of the actors such as carriers, forwarders and shippers, using a bulk terminal. The result shows that all service quality factors have a significant effect on the satisfaction.
The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of bilateral Free Trade Agreements on international trade volume of bulk shipment at the port of Busan in Korea using the Gravity Model. Most recently, the total of 15 Korea's FTAs have been enforced since Korea-Chile FTA in 2004 and more than 50 countries became member of Korea's FTAs. Therefore, aggregated trade volume of Korea's FTA members out of the total trade volume in Korea increased from 25% in 2011 to 67% in 2015. Five Korea's bilateral FTA members are concerned as experimental group while top 10 foreign countries base on trade volume of bulk shipment are applied to the model as control group and panel data was used in this study. According to the results, bilateral FTA, GDP and population have positive impacts on trade volume of bulk shipment at the port of Busan. On the other hand, distance between Korea and its trade partner has negative impact. In examining Hausman test and LR test, the random effect model is statistically more appropriate than the fixed effect model for this study.
The aim of this study was to examine determinants of secondhand Bulk carrier and Oil tanker prices. This study compiled S& P transaction data taken from the Clarksons Research during J anuary 2018 to April 2022 to see how independent variables influenced secondhand ship prices. In the secondhand ship pricing model of entire segments, size, age, and LIBOR showed significant effects on prices. A vessel built in J apan and Korea was traded at a higher price than a vessel built in other countries. In the bulk segment, size, age, Clarksea index, LIBOR, and inflation were meaningful variables. In the Tanker segment, unlike Bulk carrier, only size and age were useful variables. This study performed regression analyses for various sizes of Bulk carriers and Oil tankers. It verified that impacts of variables other than ship size and age were significantly associated with ship type and size while macroeconomic variables had no influence except for bulk carriers. By applying diverse variables affecting secondhand ship price estimation according to various sizes of Bulk carriers and Oil tankers, this study will expand the scope of practical application for investors. It also reaffirms prior research findings that the secondhand ship market is primarily market-driven.
Experimental design in simulation provides an efficient way of economizing simulation runs since a considerable number of simulation runs that originally were planned can be reduced by this approach. This experimental design method is an active area of research together with the output analysis and so no single panacea seems to exist so far. Thus, selection of techniques of experimental design and output analysis more likely depends upon the objective of simulation analysis, budget constraint and sometimes the analyst's subjective judgment. This paper attempts to describe an experimental design methodology for port investment analysis using a case study in a bulk terminal in Korea. Detailed display will be focused on simulation period, warm-up period, the number of replications needed in production runs after brief explanation on the system configuration.
