  • To Provide pleasant building environment and the ease of maintenance and facility management, many new office buildings are being built as intelligent buildings. Building control systems which are employed in intelligent buildings require advanced types of controllers and varieties of control schemes. Designing and installation of these types of advanced building control systems take a lot of effort and also they are costly. In order to design these systems, it is necessary for the designers to have means to analyze and estimate the performance of control systems. In this paper, the results of the simulator for HVAC and elevator system are presented as the first stage of the development of the integrated simulator. For the development of simulator, ARENA which is the general-purpose software tool for the simulation with reinforced GUI is used.

  • Sensor network supports data delivery from Physical world to cyber space. Sensors get physical events then wireless network transfers sensor data to service server. We use sensor network technology to light control system for intelligent building. In ubiquitous computing environment. wireless sensor network is basic tool for intelligent service. In this paper, we propose intelligent building light control system based on wireless sensor network. It is implemented using previous light control product, can be adopted to present building light system.

  • In tall building construction, lift car for worker lifting is a critical factor for construction productivity. To reduce worker lifting time, existing researches have been conducted on lift car planning. While, research on lift car operation is insufficient. For the efficient reduction of worker lifting time, lift car operation control is needed with lift car planning. Therefore, this research suggests operation control model of lift car to reduce worker lifting time. According to the result of a model test, the operation control model contributes to reasonable reduction of worker lifting time.

Structual Design of a Building with High Damping Provided by Deformation Amplification Mechanisms and Tuned Viscous Mass Damper

  • This paper presents the structural design and response control system of the JR MEGURO MARC building, a 70 meters high office building with steel structure located in Tokyo (Figure 1). In order to achieve high earthquake resistance and useable office space, this building integrates a centralized response control system with deformation amplification mechanisms and tuned viscous mass dampers on the lower floor. Moreover, buckling-restrained braces (BRB) are installed on the upper floors to increase the effectiveness of centralized response control system and to reduce damage of the main frames in the event of a major earthquake. It features an efficient centralized response control system by amplifying the deformation of the dampers without creating a soft story.

  • A tilted tall building is actively constructed as landmark structures around world to date. Because lateral displacement responses of a tilted tall building occurs even by its self-weight, reduction of seismic responses is very important to ensure structural safety. In this study, a smart tuned mass damper (STMD) was applied to the example tilted tall building and its seismic response control performance was investigated. The STMD was composed of magnetorheological (MR) damper and it was installed on the top floor of the example building. Control performance of the STMD mainly depends on the control algorithn. Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) was selected as a control algorithm for the STMD. Because composing fuzzy rules and tuning membership functions of FLC are difficult task, evolutionary optimization algorithm (EOA) was used to develop the FLC. After numerical simulations, it has been seen that the STMD controlled by the EOA-optimized FLC can effectively reduce seismic responses fo the tilted tall building.

Wind-Induced Vibration Control of a Tall Building Using Magneto-Rheological Dampers: A Feasibility Study

  • A recently developed semi-active control system employing magneto-rheological (MR) fluid dampers is applied to vibration control of a wind excited tall building. The semi-active control system with MR fluid dampers appears to have the reliability of passive control devices and the adaptability of fully active control systems. The system requires only small power source, which is critical during severe events, when the main power source may fail. Numerical simulation studies are performed to demonstrate the efficiency of the MR dampers on the third ASCE benchmark problem. Multiple MR dampers are assumed to be installed in the 76-story building. Genetic algorithm is applied to determine the optimal locations and capacities of the MR dampers. Clipped optimal controller is designed to control the MR dampers based on the acceleration feedback. To verify the robustness with respect to the variation of the external wind force, several cases with different wind forces are considered in the numerical simulation. Simulation results show that the semi-actively controlled MR dampers can effectively reduce both the peak and RMS responses the tall building under various wind force conditions. The control performance of the MR dampers for wind is found to be fairly similar to the performance of an active tuned mass damper.

DR 기반의 건물 공조 부하관리 알고리즘 (Building AHU Load Control Algorithm based on Demand Response)

  • This paper presents an advanced energy saving algorithm in building. It is important to aggregate a various demand side resource which is controllable on demand response environment. Previous demand side algorithm for building is restricted on peak power. In this paper, we suggest duty cycle algorithm for AHU on demand response to reduce the quantity of building power consumption. The test results show that the proposed algorithm is very effective.

  • 비 보안영역의 외부인터넷과 보안영역의 내부업무망간에 적용된 기존의 망간 자료전송기술을 빌딩시설관리 SCADA시스템 제어망에 그대로 적용할 경우에 다양한 문제들이 도출된다. 기존의 망간 자료전송기술은 모든 데이터를 대상으로 블랙리스트 기반의 보안기법이 적용되기 때문에 고 복잡성 및 고 비용이 수반된다. 하지만, 빌딩시설관리 SCADA제어시스템에서 유통되는 데이터의 특성은 소수의 정형적인 제어 데이터가 반복성과 주기성을 갖기 때문에 이를 대상으로 화이트리스트 기반의 보안기법 적용이 가능하다. 이를 통해서 망간 자료전송에 적용된 보안기술이 단순화되어 저 비용으로 빌딩시설관리 SCADA시스템 제어망 구축이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점들을 정리하고 이를 해결하는 방안을 제시하여 빌딩시설관리 SCADA제어시스템에 특화된 빌딩 제어망 구축방안을 제안하였다.

전산유체역학을 이용한 디젤엔진 부하시험장의 환기 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ventilation Improvement of Diesel Locomotive Engine Load Test Building using Computational Fluid Dynamics)

  • The aim of this study is to relieve the poor ventilation problem of the diesel locomotive engine load test building, located in an urban area. This paper evaluates the ventilation performances of the studied load test building based on the temperature measurement experiment and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) during the engine load test. The temperature rise caused by the radiator blower of the building was turned out to be the main cause of disturbing the thermal conditions of the building. The indoor temperature distributions simulated by Fluent were validated with the temperature measurement results obtained from the studied building. The simulation results indicated that the comfort condition of this building was poor We suggested several remedial changes in the duct structure of this building for the improvement of the comfort conditions. In addition, a prototype drawing combining several improved design options was proposed. and then the simulation of the temperature distribution in the proposed prototype was performed. The result indicated that the indoor thermal condition of this proposed building was improved when compared with that of the current building.

  • This paper presents a structural design of the "(Tentative Name) Toranomon Hills Residential Tower" which is currently under construction in Tokyo. The building is a reinforced concrete high-rise residential complex building with 54 stories above ground, 4 basement levels, and a building height of about 220 m. It is a requirement to provide the highest grade of residence in Japan, and in terms of the structural design, it is required to provide wide and comfortable spaces with high seismic performance. These requirements are satisfied by providing a total of 774 vibration control walls of two types. Also, to further improve the structural performance, steel fibers at the rate of 1.0vol% are provided in the ultra-high strength concrete used in the column members.
