  • This study was performed to evaluate sleep efficiencies and conditions for comfortable sleep based on the analysis of EEGs and MST under four thermals conditions. Five female subjects who have similar life cycle and sleep patterns were participated for the sleep experiment. Their age was from 20 to 22 years old. They were healthy, and had regular sleep with consistent bed and wakeup time. It was checked whether they had a good sleep before the night of experiment. Experiments were performed in an environmental chamber of $4.1\times4.9\times2.7m$ size. EEGs were obtained from C3-A2 and C4-Al electrode sites. Sleep stages were classified, then TST, SWS latency and SWS/TST were calculated for the evaluation for sleep efficiencies on thermal conditions. As results, it was concluded that indoor thermal environments of $24\~26^{\circ}C$ was the best for comfortable and deep sleep.

  • Recently, the application of building information model (BIM) is evaluated as one of important issues in construction market through the analyzed results in successful case studies. This study suggests an integrated information management model based on BIM through the problem analysis in existing information model for design phase. The application of suggested model is verified by a case study of bridge project. Those automatic and integrated information models for design phase can be used for an effective information management model through project life cycle.

  • Extension IFC schema of subsidiary facilities were developed for the purpose of establishing an information model standard for roads. The IFC entities, types and properties for subsidiary facilities were defined through an analysis of the road design documents for the extraction physical component and design information. The converter and viewer for applying the new schema were then developed. Subsidiary facilities BIM models were converted to new IFC models to verify the research results. Standard BIM-based delivery and verification systems are enabled by using a standard model converted by new schema. Furthermore, it can establish an open BIM environment using an IFC over the entire life cycle of the civil engineering project.

  • Configuration is a set of building block processes, a series of selection and combining parts or components which composes a whole thing. A whole thing could be such a configurable object as manufacturing product, network system, financial portfolio, system development plan, project team, etc. Configuration problem could happen during any phase of product life cycle: design, production, sales, installation, and maintenance. Configuration has long been one of cost and time consuming work, because only high salaried technical experts on product and components can do configuration. Rework for error adjustments of configurations at later process causes far much cost and time, so accurate configuration is required. Under the on-line electronic commerce environment, configuration problem solving becomes more important, because component-based sales should be done automatically on the merchant web site. Automated product search, order placement, order fulfillment and payment make that manual configuration is no longer feasible. Automated configuration means that all the constraints among components should be checked and confirmed by configuration engine automatically. In addition, technical constraints and customer preferences like price range and a specific function required should be considered. This paper gives an brief overview of configuration problems: characteristics, representation paradigms, and solving algorithms and introduce CRSP(Constraint and Rule Satisfaction Problem) method. CRSP method adopts both constraint and rule for configuration domain knowledge representation. A survey and analysis on web sites adopting configuration functions are provided. Future directions of configuration for EC is discussed in the three aspects: methodology itself, companies adopting configuration function, and electronic commerce industry.

  • The chemical process plant information is used and updated during design, construction, operation, and maintenance of plant. This special type of information should be utilized as the DW(datawarehouse) which conforms to the standard format. The DW should be design in consideration of connectivity to application softwares. The application softwares are different from each other in the context of their objects such as design, management, decision-making, and so on. In this paper, some considerable facts in dealing with chemical process plant information on the framework of developing application software including datawarehousing, model building, interfacing. As a case study, the development of decision-making support system for environmental policy is illustrated for the related discussion.

  • Today, in many area the rise of software necessity there has been increasing the issue of the impotance of Good Software. Our reality in software industrial world has been happening to frequently change requirements at any stage of software life cycle. Furthermore this frequent changing will be increasing the design complexity, which will result in being the lower quality of software against our purpose the original design goals. To solve this problem, we suggest how to improve software design through refactoring based on reverse engineering. This is our way of diverse approaches to visually identify bad smell patterns in source code. We expect to improve software quality through refactoring on even frequently changing requirements.

  • This study was performed to evaluate sleep efficiencies and conditions for comfortable sleep based on the analysis of sleep efficiency and MST under four thermals conditions ($22^{\circ}C,\;24^{\circ}C,\;26^{\circ}C,\;30^{\circ}C$). Five female subjects who have similar life cycle and sleep patterns were participated for the sleep experiment. Their age was from 20 to 22 years old. They were healthy, and had regular sleep with consistent bed and wakeup time. It was checked whether they had a good sleep before the night of experiment. Experiments were performed in an environmental chamber using thermo-hygrostat. The physiological signal (EEG) for sleep stage were obtained from C3-A2 and C4-Al electrode sites. Sleep stages were classified, then SWS latency and SWS/TST were calculated for the evaluation for sleep efficiencies on thermal conditions. As results, mean skin temperature for comfort sleeping was $34.5{\sim}35.4^{\circ}C$. Considering sleep efficiency and mean skin temperature, indoor room temperature of upper limit was $28.1^{\circ}C$.

  • Much energy is used in occupying stage of the Building Life Cycle. Electric charge is one of the various factors that influence on energy use of residents. This study focused on electric charge and searched that whether electric charge affects residents' behavior of operating air conditioner and their controlled indoor climate. We surveyed three groups for field study ; A group is residents who live in a studio apartment, B group is residents who live in a university dormitory and C group is residents who live in a apartment with their family. The A and C groups are charged for electric as energy consumption they used. And the B group is students who live in a university dormitory and they are not charged for their energy consumption. We measured the time to use the air conditioner for cooling, on/off temperature of air conditioner, and room air temperature for these three groups. The result shows that consideration for electric charge affects to the residents' behavior of operating air conditioner and their acceptable thermal range.

  • The purpose of our study is to develop a prototype groupware environment that addresses the different phases of meetings as well as to provide for customizable meetings. We describe several components that can be used to support the entire life-cycle of a distributed meeting. Our design is based on the premise that meetings are comprised of three stages: pre-meeting setup, during meeting activities, and post-meeting teardown. Additionally, meetings are individual, each requiring a different set of tools and applications. Our protype contains six components to support these stages. These components are electronic mail, bulletin board, organizer, agendas, virtual meeting room, and storyboard viewer.

  • Cool roofs are currently being emerged as one of important mechanism to save energy in relation to the building. Although green roof has already gained nation-wide recognition as a typical method of energy saving in the roof, this approach did not provide a realistic evidence that is economically feasible in terms of installation cost. This research is primarily intended to compare installation cost between the two techniques. This research proposes a comparative evaluation framework in a more objective and quantitative way for an installation cost between the two techniques. Kyungpook National University (KNU) was selected as a survey objective and an exhaustive and realistic comparison of installation cost between the two techniques was conducted, based on Life Cycle Cost analysis (initial investment cost, maintenance cost, dismantling and waste disposal expense). It was possible to identify that installation cost of cool roofs is 4.7 times cheaper than that of green roof. Also present value based on probabilistic approach was identified as 0.25 (4.95) higher than the installation cost on the assumption of constant price and interest. It is expected that much more installation cost for the large scale green roof will be required since small-size green roof selected as a survey objective in this study could be operated under less initial installation and maintenance condition.
