Characteristics of color application indicated from Kirchsteigfeld is presented the various points of view to be preserved urban housing color. It had been handled as environmental color by view point of community and connectivity rather than color scheme of single housing. First, color to be consisted of basis for urban entirely as background color in urban housing complex has been indicated the bright and cheerful feelings and expressed to be introduced mostly from the single color system. Second, characteristics to be inhibited strongly from housing complex had been indicated by restricted four types of color, formulated the overall context and change through accent and the change from disposition of principal and the accessary of color scheme. In this case, it was not regular formulation, but as a whole category view, it could be provided by orderly regularity system strictly Particularly it had been applied as a whole for lightness change by single color, introduced the different color of building to be centered or remained by a visual point. This had been formed to introduction of color by stand points of housing group not introduction to color by sole concept of building. Third, emphasizing of morphologic feeling by using of difference of lightness, it could be indicated the mild and comfortable stereo-type sensibility from the overall types of housing, we could understand for formation of color code by lightness of slightly differences. Fourth, it had been taken the convenient adaptation method for maintenance of simple graphic system as a environmental color. It has considerable advantage for sustainability of color to indicate on finishing material, form and detail in architecture, as the sole separated color not to be complicated when to be painted over and again or managed continuously.

Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development (ESSD)" is a key word in recent years. The construction industry, have put a great influence on ergonomic and sustainable environment. Recently, "green building certifications", such as Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and eco-friendly material regulation have been established. With this regard, new construction and aged-housing remodeling projects are required to meet these certification criteria. Apartment residents have great concern on eco-product, since many cases are reported that Sick Building Syndrome is caused by toxic substance from building materials. Aged-housing remodeling construction has a unique characteristic in that the residents are already determined prior to construction execution. Therefore, the analysis of resident's need for building materials in aged-housing remodeling is relatively easy compared to new building construction. As such, it is very important to analyze their preferences for eco-friendly materials prior to project execution. The purpose of this study is to find the needs of residents and priority of their needs. Based on their needs and priority, this paper provides a new strategy in using environment-friendly materials and maximizing their satisfaction level when aged housing remodeling is constructed. In addition, this paper provide new criteria in selecting new developed environmental materials in remodeling projects for the purpose of improving the safety and health level in construction industry.

Building information modeling (BIM) has the advantage of having been utilized for various scenarios through a single model. Although extracting 2D drawings from BIM is one of the advantages, there are many difficulties when utilized in practical work. Architectural detail drawings are an important factor for expressing interior finishing materials and complicated construction methods, as well as for cost estimations. However, creating detail drawings does not have a standard, and each design company establishes its own detail drawings, so it is hard to share or exchange information in the construction industry. Therefore, this study suggests a systemized method for making detail drawings, and explains how it can be utilized as back data for quantity take-off and construction expenses linked with BIM libraries.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis between Korea and the United States of the supply process of unit modular housing at both the factory production phase and the transportation and lifting phase, as part of an attempt to invigorate the unit modular housing market in Korea. Unlike the practice in the United States, one of Korea's unique characteristics is that the floor is constructed with reinforced concrete and hot water heating system. To do this, the wet method in Korea is used that includes concrete placement, curing and constructing hot water floor heating system at the factory production phase, which results in a longer production time and also requires the lifting of heavier loads. In the United States, interior and exterior finishing works of modular housing are performed by different companies, and the distance between the unit module factory and the construction site is quite far. This kind of dualized production structure may cause confusion when it comes to schedule management, procurement management, and stock management. Moreover, problems caused by external environmental factors such as wind and rainfall were reported in the course of long-distance transportation. The results of this case comparison are expected to provide fundamental data that will reduce the amount of trial and error in the unit module production, transportation and lifting work in Korea, which has a comparatively small number of unit modular housing cases.
Radon radiation exposures in home have been posed as a potential cancer hazard. This research aims to present the basic data of the indoor radon concentration level by examining the radon exhalation rates of wood species. Radon exhalation rates from five commonly used wood species in Korean wood building construction were measured with Continuous Radon Monitor (CRM), Model 1028 (Sun Nuclear Co., USA) using the Closed Chamber Method (CCM). The mass exhalation rate was observed to vary from $0.00089Bq{\cdot}kg^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$ to $0.00181Bq{\cdot}kg^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$, whereas the surface exhalation rate was observed to be $0.00677-0.01517Bq{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}h^{-1}$. The radon exhalation rate of Quercus accutissima Carruth (white oak) which has the highest density showed the highest figure among the five wood species, on the other hand, the rest of four species showed similar results which were similar to the radon exhalation rates of wood in the U.S.A. and Canada. The average of the concentration measured by the CCM represented well up to the second half-life period (7.7 days). Because result of these small quantities seems to indicate that radon exhalation from the tested wood species has almost negligible impact, the main culprit of the high indoor radon concentration is clearly derived from the background of surrounding wood house. Therefore, as a safety precaution, infrastructures made of wood materials should be designed with the consideration of influx of radon and built accordingly. Furthermore, it is highly desirable that wood will be needed to use for furniture and interior finishing material in indoor environment.
The fire resistance of thermal insulation and interior finishing materials is recently much emphasized after the fire accident at the Icheon Cold Store in January 2008. Three kinds of thermal insulation are used in buildings. They are Organic, Non-organic and cellulosic insulation. Organic insulation such as polystyrene foam board and urethane foam has high thermal resistance but it has no fire resistance. While non-organic insulation such as rockwool and glassfiber has high fire resistance, it has lower thermal resistance than organic insulation. Cellulose insulation is primarily manufactured from recycled newsprint or cardboard using shredders and fiberizers. Despite of its environmental friendliness and high thermal resistivity, its domestic use has not much increased because of the prejudice that paper can easily burn. However, the cellulose insulation as a product is about 80 wt.% cellulosic fiber and 20 wt.% chemicals, most of which are fire retardants such as boric acid and ammonium sulfate. It is required to secure its fire safety for more consumption as a building insulation in Korea. Therefore, this study investigates the fire resistance of Korean cellulose insulation according to the rate of fire retardant and finally presents the optimum rate of fire retardant in cellulose as building insulation. The fire safety test was conducted according to the ASTM C 1485-00. The test results indicate that above 18 wt% of fire retardant is necessary to secure the fire safety of cellulose insulation.
As recent buildings become more air tight, the natural ventilation rate is significantly reduced and it leads to difficulty in removing accumulated moisture in buildings. Hot and humid weather in summer and the large amount of moisture caused by indoor activity are the major factors of moisture problem in Korea. The hygrothermal behavior of building environment has to be considered carefully to reduce condensation risk and mold growth potential, and comfortable indoor environment. In this study, we evaluated hygrothermal behavior of Standard Wood-frame Structure published in the Korea Rural Community Corporation Using WUFI simulation program. The results indicated that the total water contents of wood wall measured in 2014 was lower than wood wall in 2010. As a result of evaluation by separating the farming and fishing areas, Moisture problems in fishing area became larger. The walls had a significant impact on the relative humidity than the temperature each areas. Furthermore, excessive water content problem of the wood-based material was reduced in the wall that could be applied in the fishing villages by changing the outdoor finishing materials. And Mold growth risk on the interior materials could be removed through the different setting of the indoor temperature during summertime.

This research analyzes the properties of mortar following the rise in water-cement ratio and applicability as an eco-friendly construction supply by using the mudflats of a dredged arena as a substitute for aggregate. The results of a experiment of the flow showed that the flow value decreases as the amount of mudflats increases. A test for chloride content showed that the chloride content increases with the amount of mudflats. In the compression of specimen mixed with mudflat and the testing of tensile strength, the strength weakened as the addition ratio of mudflats rose. However, with 14-day strength as the standard, most specimen showed more strength than the plain, and 14-day strength was higher than 28-day strength. It appears to be experimental error in the mixing process from the viscosity and cohesion of mudflats, and it is considered that there will be a need for an experiment on mixing methods of mudflats in the future. The compressive strength of this research was the strongest with 70% in water-cement ratio, and the tensile strength was strongest with 80% in water-cement ratio. In the evaluation of surface analysis, 70% water-cement ratio, which is finest in strength, mixing, and compactness, was selected to analyze the roughness of the surface, and the results showed that the surface became smoother as the addition ratio of mudflats increases. In conclusion, it appears that 70% water-cement ratio is the optimal mixing ratio for mortar and 10 to 30% addition ratio of mudflats the optimal ratio. It also appears that the application of interior finishing material like bricks and tiles and interior plastering material using the mudflats are possible.
The speed of train has rapidly been increased in accordance with the developed railway technology. Nowadays, high-speed trains were introduced which has the speed faster than 400 km/h. In Korea, a lots of efforts were undertaken to increase the speed of train faster than 350 km/h, however noise and vibration are still the main problems to solve for realization of the high-speed train. In the case of operation speed faster than 350 km/h, it can be easily presumed that the noise and vibration damages could be increased in the train stations which are close to the passing railway tracks. Thus, the noise in the five different types of high-speed train stations were analyzed including stations built on the ground, underground, under rail, and two types on rail. The present paper predicts noises inside the stations depending on the speed of the passing trains and analyze the noise comparing with noise criteria (NC). Sound insulation performance of each part of buildings was calculated using the transmission noise formula and computer modeling, Finally, a series of processes were introduced to satisfy the aural environment with the optimum interior noise criteria by changing interior finishing materials.

Although the use of BIM in architectural projects has increased, repetitive modeling tasks and frequent design errors remain as obstacles to the practical application of BIM. In particular, interior finishing elements include the most varied and detailed requirements, and thus requires improving its modelling efficiency and resolving potential design errors. Recently, visual programming-based modules has gained traction as a way to automate a series of repetitive modeling tasks. However, existing approaches do not adequately reflect the practical modeling needs and focus only on replacing siimple, repetitive tasks. This study developed and evaluated the performance of three modules for automatic detailing of walls, floors and ceilings. The three elements were selected by analyzing the man-hours and the number of errors that typically occur when detailing BIM models. The modules were then applied to automatically detail a sample commercial facility BIM model. Results showed that the implementations met the practical modeling requirements identified by actual modelers of an construction management firm.
