GIS를 이용한 상수원 보호를 위한 수변구역 지정에 관한 연구 (The Delineation of Water-Pollutant Buffering Zone for Sustaining Better Drinking Water Quality Using a GIS)

  • The aggravating water quality from the expansion of industrialization along with increasing population lead to develop more intensive physical measures to secure better drinking water quality. This study was mainly initiated to establish a water-pollutant buffering zone for the upper stream basin of Paldang--the major source area of drinking water for the metropolitan Seoul and suburban areas with a population more than 13 million. Two different criteria were considered in determining the buffering distance from the edge of the streamflow : 1km-width buffer zone for the special protection area which has been strictly controlled by the conventional laws for the protection of drinking water supply, and 500m-width buffer zone for the rest of the area. To delineate the exact boundaries of the water-pollutant buffering zone, GIS database was created integrating topography, hydrography, cadastral, and other related layers. The newly designated water-pollutant buffering zone would contribute to improve the water quality in a long term along with the conservation of the wet land. More study, however, should be made within the water-pollutant buffering zone such as the detailed survey of the pollutants, vegetation, and ecosystem for more effective management of the buffering zone.

  • S. Korean Government has accelerating its efforts to enhance the quality of the drinking water. The Ministry of Environment has declared the law of securing water-pollutant buffering zone to minimize the inflow of the point and nonpoint sources into the drinking water sources. As a first phase of installing nationa-wide water-pollutant buffering zone, approximately 300km buffering zone has been delineated along the South and North Han river, the major drinking water sources for the capital area of S. Korea, which has the population of more than 12 millions. The buffering zone has the width of 1,000 meter for the special protection area, and 500 meter for the remaining area from both ends of the river. The major works have been done in three stages. Firstly, the boundaries lines of the buffering zone was delineated on the digital topographic maps. Secondly, the maps were overlayed with the cadastral maps to identify individual land parcels, the street address of the major pollutant discharging facilities, and all different types of pollutants including livestocks. Thirdly, the field work has been done as a verification. Once the buffering zone was generated, all the information for the buffering gone were created or imported from other government agencies including official land price, details of the major manufacturing facilities discharging considerable amount of pollutants, major motels and resorts, not to mention of restaurants, etc. Also, major livestock houses were located to identify the path of the pollutant inflow to the drinking water source. Further works need to be continued such as purchasing private lands within the buffering zone and change the land use in the efforts to decrease the pollutant amount and to provide more environmentally friendly space. Also, high resolution satellite imagery should be utilized in the near future as a cost-effective data source to update all the landuse activities within buffering zone.

완충공간의 설치가 이유자돈사 온·습도변화 및 자돈 폐사율에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Buffering Zone Installation on the Temperature and Humidity of Pig House and Mortality of Weaned Pig)

  • This survey was conducted to collect basic data about the effect of buffering zone installation in weaned pig house. Buffering zone was installed either inside or outside of pig house to compare changes of temperature, humidity and air velocity of pig room. The body weight and mortality of weaned pigs in house with buffering zone was also measured. There was no difference in temperature, humidity and air velocity between inside and outside buffering zone. Mortality of weaned pig in house with buffering zone was drastically decreased compare to pigs in house without buffering zone that could be useful to maintain constant temperature and decrease mortality.

효모배지용 당밀의 청징법에 관하여 (Molasses clarifying method used by lime-phosphate for yeast culture)

  • The constituents of molasses and effect of pH precipitate formation in molasses solution, vary according to its producing districts. The formation of precipitation is not so changeable in the range of buffering zone of molasses solution(pH4.3-6.3) in philippine molasses according to the change of pH value. On lower or higher than the range of buffering zone, the precipitation is increased from pH 4.3 to 2.8 and from 6.3 to 8.1, it is decreased when pH value is lower or higher than the pH value range. For molasses clarifying, it had better adjust the pH of molasses solution to neutral or weak alkali range out of the alkai side of the buffering zone, with lime solution. And then, add the calcium super phosphate solution to pH value of alkali side in buffering zone, as much as the pH of clarified molasses solution can reach to middle value in buffering zone. For the equilibrium of pH value on clarifying molasses, it takes plenty of time more than 6 hours.

  • 임하호 유역은 지질 및 지형이 토사유실에 취약한 구조를 가지고 있어 강우발생시 많은 토사가 호소로 유입되어 고탁수의 원인이 되고 있다. 특히 임하호유역의 농경지가 주로 하천주변에 분포하고 있어 강우시 토사유실로 인한 탁수발생이 큰 지역이다. 따라서, 탁수저감을 위한 수변구역의 체계적인 관리와 대책 마련을 위해서는 수변구역에서 발생하는 토사유실량의 영향을 평가하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 GIS 기반 RUSLE 모형을 선정하여 수변구역에서의 토사유실 비율을 평가한 결과 약 12.23%로서 임하호 전체유역과의 면적비율(9.95%) 보다 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 수변구역 주변의 농경지비율(27.24%)이 전체유역에 대한 농경지비율(14.96%) 보다 높은 특성이 반영된 것으로 해석된다. 또한 소유역별 분석결과를 볼 때 수변구역중 대곡천 유역이 가장 높은 토사유실량 분포를 나타냈으며, 반변천_10 그리고 서시천 순서로 나타났다.

광교신도시 완충녹지의 입지와 이용만족도 연구 (A Study on Location and User Satisfaction of the Green Buffer Zone in Gwanggyo New Town)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out that it can be provided as a basic data to increase the satisfaction with users in the placement and creation of the Green Buffer Zone. In this study, the research was started on the Green Buffer Zone in Gwanggyo new town, which was rebuilt as the zone to use according to the change of legal installation standard of the zone. The subject of this study is the Green Buffer Zone in Gwanggyo new town, which is expected to be completed in step 4 of 2016. As a result of analysing the location and use characteristics of the Green Buffer Zone, the following conclusions were made. First of all, it is categorized into two categories by Buffering / disaster prevention type and land to use adjustment type. Second, the buffer space of commercial space and housing is satisfying, but in commercial space, there is a need for a cushioning function and housing spaces require improvements in the functioning of the landscape. Third, the function of the Green Buffer Zone resets to cushioning function, disaster prevention function, landscape function, utilization function. and The installation criteria are proposed to environmental pollution, noise abatement, and planting trees, etc. Lastly, the future utilization plan considering the location and use characteristics of the Green Buffer Zone is as follows. In the planning stage, preference is given to the characteristics of use of arranging green facility. It is necessary to manage the planned facilities as much as possible by changing them if necessary. Construction stage, it restrictively reflects landscaping facilities within the Green Buffer Zone function. After stage, This study will prioritize the target areas and select necessary areas and need to make efforts to prevent indiscriminate greenery encroachment.

수변구역 토지정보관리시스템 구축

  • This study mainly concentrates on the development of a land information management system to manage the land related information in an effective way for the water-pollutant buffering zone, which was established to sustain better quality of the drinking water over the upper part of the Han river. For developing such system, a procedure was implemented covering user requirement analysis, system design, spatial DB design, and coding. DB linkage with affiliated institutes and cadastral DB updating were proposed as the part of the efforts to enhance the applicability of the system. In addition to that, modularization was adopted for more efficient and cost-effective system development.

자운천 유역 내 환경특성과 탁류발생의 관계성에 대한 기초연구 (A Basic Study on the Relationship between the Environmental Characteristics and Turbidity Generation in Jaun Watershed)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the relation between the land use status in watersheds and stream turbidity. Major water quality components (flow rate, turbidity, SS, BOD, TN, TP, etc.) of two streams (Jaun and Naerin) and the land use status for each correspondent watershed have been analyzed through the field sampling and the geographical overlaying of land use and watershed map. The detailed results of this study showed that; turbidity has been increased rapidly from 1.9 to 13.0 NTU for Jaun Stream, 0.4 to 0.7 NTU for Naerin Stream, due to the increased flow rate during the period of June. The agricultural area of the Jaun watershed was $13.5km^2$ (10.1% of the overall watershed), comparing to $2.0km^2$(1.4%) of upper watershed of Naerin stream. The forest was widely distributed along the 30m buffering zone from the center of Naerin stream, which comprised 64.14% of the whole watershed area. But in case of the Jaun, the ratio of forest was 17.84%, while the ratio of farming field was 30.33%.

Distribution of Calcium Hydroxide at the ITZ between Steel and Concrete

  • The present study examines the distribution of calcium hydroxide, unhydrated cement grain and porosity at the steel-concrete interface. The formation of calcium hydroxide has been confirmed by microscopic analysis using BSE images containing the ITZ between the steel and concrete. It was found that calcium hydroxide does not form a layer on the steel surface, different from the hypothesis that has been available in investigating the corrosion of steel in concrete, ranging from 5 to $10\%$ within the steel surface. Moreover, the high level of porosity at the ITZ was observed, accounting for $30\%$, which may reduce the buffering capacity of cement hydration products against a local fall in the pH. These findings may imply that the mole of ($Cl^-$) :($OH^-$) in pore solution as chloride threshold level lead to wrong judgement or to a wide range of values.
