커크우드-버프 용액 이론 (Kirkwood-Buff Solution Theory)

  • Any theory of liquid should account for interactions between molecules, since molecules in a liquid are close to each other. For this matter statistical-mechanical methodology has been used and various models have been proposed on the basis of this methodology. Among them Kirkwood-Buff solution theory has attracted a lot of interest, because it is regarded as being the most powerful. In this article Kirkwood-Buff solution theory is revisited and its key equations are derived. On the way to these equations, the concepts of pair correlation function, radial distribution function, Kirkwood-Buff integration are explained and implemented. Since complexity of statical mechanics involved in this theory, the equations are applied to one-component systems and the results are compared to those obtained by classical thermodynamics. This may be a simple way for Kirkwood-Buff solution theory to be examined for its validity.

  • Two thermodynamic models were used to predict the partial molar volumes of solutes in supercritical carbon dioxide at infinite dilution: (1) the Peng-Robinson equation of state with various mixing rules including those based on $EOS/G^E$ (2) the Kirkwood Buff fluctuation integral with the hard sphere expansion (HSE) method. The Kirkwood-Buff fluctuation integral method, in which an equation of state for pure component and molecular parameters are required, produced better results especially near the critical point than the Peng-Robinson equation of state with the several mixing rules based an $EOS/G^E$. When the $EOS/G^E$ mixing rules were used, poorer results were obtained compared with the classical mixing rule and Kirkwood-Buff model.

  • The object of this study is a manufacture of burr die using CAD/CAM systems. Systems are consist of AutoCAD, CAM software and CNC milling machine. CAM software is purpose of G-code generation for CNC programming. Then CAM software and CNC milling machine are connect to RS-232-C cable for networking.

버프의 최적 위치를 통한 산업용 송풍기의 소음저감 (The Noise Reduction of Industrial Blower by Optimal Positioning of Buff)

  • In a running blower, there are various exciting forces which can generate noise. The noise of an running industrial fan or blower depends on the structure of a fan, the machining accuracy of each element, and assembled conditions. Many studies have been carried out to reduce the noise of it. In this study, 3-hole buffs are used in pipe of blower to study the influence the number and position of buffs on the noise reduction at inlet and outlet in pipe. Commercial engineering software ANSYS and SYSNOISE were employed to analyze the characteristics and reduction ratio of pressure. It is concluded that optimal position and number of buffs in pipe of blower to show the least reduction ratio of pressure.

  • The noise of an running industrial fan or blower depends on the type of a fan, the machining accuracy and assembled conditions of each element, and buffs. Many studies have been carried out to reduce the noise through silencer in blower. In this study, 3 types of buffs which have different hole are employed in pipe of blower to study the influence the number and arrangement of buffs on the noise reduction at inlet and outlet in pipe. Commercial engineering software ANSYS was employed to analyze the characteristics and reduction ratio of pressure. Experimental results shows that optimal one can reduce the reduction ratio of noise as much as 16 percents in the laboratory. Good agreement was found between the analysed ratio of noise reduction and those obtained from the experiments.

Fragmentation and energy absorption characteristics of Red, Berea and Buff sandstones based on different loading rates and water contents

  • Annually, the global production of construction aggregates reaches over 40 billion tons, making aggregates the largest mining sector by volume and value. Currently, the aggregate industry is shifting from sand to hard rock as a result of legislation limiting the extraction of natural sands and gravels. A major implication of this change in the aggregate industry is the need for understanding rock fragmentation and energy absorption to produce more cost-effective aggregates. In this paper, we focused on incorporating dynamic rock and soil mechanics to understand the effects of loading rate and water saturation on the rock fragmentation and energy absorption of three different sandstones (Red, Berea and Buff) with different pore sizes. Rock core samples were prepared in accordance to the ASTM standards for compressive strength testing. Saturated and dry samples were subsequently prepared and fragmented via fast and dynamic compressive strength tests. The particle size distributions of the resulting fragments were subsequently analyzed using mechanical gradation tests. Our results indicate that the rock fragment size generally decreased with increasing loading rate and water content. In addition, the fragment sizes in the larger pore size sample (Buff sandstone) were relatively smaller those in the smaller pore size sample (Red sandstone). Notably, energy absorption decreased with increased loading rate, water content and rock pore size. These results support the conclusion that rock fragment size is positively correlated with the energy absorption of rocks. In addition, the rock fragment size increases as the energy absorption increases. Thus, our data provide insightful information for improving cost-effective aggregate production methods.

오리엔탈 종간잡종 나리 미숙배주 배양 (Immature Ovule Culture of Lilium Oriental Interspecific crossings)

  • 오리엔탈나리 (Lilium spp.)를 모본으로 하여 환경적응성이 우수한 종간잡종 나리를 육성하기 위하여 종간 교잡을 실시하였다. 오리엔탈 ${\times}$ 아시아틱 종간교잡은 화주절단수분법에 의해 수분하였지만 평균 29%왜 낮은 결실률을 나타냈다. 오리엔탈 나리 'Rodolfa' ${\times}$ L. asiatic 'Toronto'는 대조구에 비하여 1/4 MS나 1/6 MS배지에서 76.6~78.3%로 발아율이 높았으나, 오리엔탈 나리 'Farolito' ${\times}$ L. asiatic 'Buff Pixie'는 MS와 1/2 MS배지에서 발아율이 86~90% 크게 향상 되었다. 그러나 'Snow Cristal' ${\times}$ Lilium asiatic 'Royal Trinity'는 모든 처리구에서 100%의 발아율을 나타냈다. 종간 잡종배는 배지에 GA $0.5{\sim}1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ 첨가에 의해서 발아율이 약간 향상되었다. 오리엔탈 나리 'Farolito' ${\times}$ L. asiatic 'Buff Pixie'와 'Belcanto' ${\times}$ L. callosum는 $0.01mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA와 $0.01mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ kinetin이 첨가된 MS 배지에서 66.6%와 45.2%로 가장 높은 발아율을 나타냈다.

  • Inverse gas chromatography(IGC) 방법은 고분자-용매 계의 열역학적 특성을 신속하고 정확하게 결정할 수 있는 신뢰할 만한 방법 중 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 유한 농도에서의 IGC 방법을 사용하여 poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS)과 물, 에탄올, 그리고 이소프로판올과의 상호작용을 정량적으로 결정하였다. 이를 위하여 고정상 내 용매의 체류시간으로부터 Flory-Huggins의 상호작용 계수를 산출하여 PDMS와 용매간의 소수성 상호작용을 의미하는 큰 양의 값(2$2.0{\times}10^{-3}mol/g$이었다. 또한 선형고분자에 대한 Kirkwood-Buff-Zimm(KBZ) 적분을 행하여 고분자와 용매의 분자분포 구조를 추정하였다. 이로부터 물분자는 PDMS에 대하여 용매화되지 않고 자체 분자끼리 부분적인 클러스트를 형성하며, 에탄올과 이소프로판올에서는 탄소수가 증가함에 따라 균일한 혼합에 가까운 분자분포의 구조적 성질을 추정할 수 있었다.

서양뒤영벌 수입과 화분매개 대체안의 증분이익 추정 연구 (Estimation Study of Incremental Profit of the Imported Buff-tailed Bumblebee, Bombus terrestris, and Pollination Alternatives)

  • 수입되는 서양뒤영벌과 그에 대한 화분매개 대체안들을 비교 평가하기 위해 증분이익을 추정하여 분석하였다. 분석결과, 판매수익에서 공통 생산원가를 차감한 증분수익은 인공수분을 사용할 때보다 화분매개곤충을 사용할 때 더 많았으며, 증분원가는 수입산 서양뒤영벌이나 꿀벌을 사용할 때보다 국내산 서양뒤영벌이나 인공수분을 사용할 때 더 적었다. 각 대안별 증분이익을 살펴보면, 수입산 서양뒤영벌 46,801 백만원, 국내산 서양뒤영벌 47,170 백만원, 꿀벌 46,975 백만원, 인공수분 29,839 백만원이었다. 증분이익은 각 대안을 선택했을 경우 얻을 수 있는 회계적 이윤을 의미한다. 다만, 회계적 이윤 전부를 화분매개 대안이 기여한 것으로 볼 수 없으며, 귀속지대나 정상이윤과 같은 잠재적 비용이 포함되어 있다. 잠재적 비용에 해당하는 기회원가를 고려할 때, 수입산 서양뒤영벌을 사용하는 대안은 경제적 손실이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 과수 작물 생산농가가 수입산 서양뒤영벌을 사용하는 대신 다른 대체안을 선택할 경우 추가적인 경제적 이윤을 창출할 수 있음을 의미한다.

19세기말 풍속화가 기산 김준근이 그린 삽화 속 어린이 놀이문화와 복식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Late 19th century Children's Costumes and Games of Genre Paintings by Jungeun Kim)

  • This study surveys children's costumes and games from the 11 Genre paintings by Junkeun Kim in the book "Korean Games(Stewart Culin 1858-1929)". The character of the general dress-costumes, games and the culture of life from the late $19^{th}$ century in genre painting of Junkeun Kim are as follows. The study results on the games are as follow. The boy's games are kite-flying, spinning tops, playing shuttlecock with the feet, blindman's buff, yut("Four-Stick Game"). Girl's games are seesaw with board, blindman's buff, marbles. Combined games are mount shoulder, sledge, tightrope walking for men with boy. The strengthen one's body type were seesaw with board, tightrope walking, the compete score type were playing shuttlecock with the feet, marbles and the multi complex type were yut("Four-Stick Game"), kite-flying. Through genre painting in the $19^{th}$ century we know a boy's 'Jeogori 'and 'Ba-ji' were similar to a modern man's and boy's 'Hanbok' with a traditional method of wearing. We believe that the originality of a traditional costume was an unchangeable characteristic. Girl's 'Jeogori' and 'Chi-ma' changed in length and width, and method of wearing; however, the basic shape did not change. The analysis for artist's genre painting which was ordered by a foreigner and the late of $19^{th}$ century's children's costume and game of life culture is useful to match the counters and show how to wear a modern Korean costume used to understand the 'Hanbok' and establish a costume of life.
