This study was aimed at determining the connection between ancient Korean embroidery and the Cheonsuguk mandala-embroidery insignia. Literature and empirical studies were conducted simultaneously, with the scope of these analyses spanning up to 7C in ancient Korea and Japan. The present study confirmed that the structure of Goguryeo tomb murals influenced by Buddhist art is represented in the Cheonsuguk mandala-embroidery insignia, and changes in the image resulted in modifications to the embroidery technique. Embroidery and color composition via complementary color contrast were implemented through Variant 1 outline stitching, which exhibited the development of Baekje embroidery. The embroidery technique confirmed that the form of embroidery developed in to chain stitching, needle looping stitching, outline stitching, satin stitching and Variant 1·2 outline stitching. These findings indicate that Cheonsuguk mandala-embroidery insignia is the result of the integration of the Goguryeo and Baekje cultures.
This article was triggered by Victor H. Mair's book 'Painting and performance'. The book explained that Buddhist paintings are common in the area where Buddhism was spread, and there are also performances using them. And although it has nothing to do with Buddhism, it has been shown that this form of performance can be global. However, the problem was not 'Korea'. It was because there was no record or transmission of the corresponding performance soon. In this situation, the landing method of Samcheok stable temple was announced in 2018. On the one hand, the academic community is very pleased, but on the other hand, it is troubled. The worries are summed up as 'synchronic and diachronic universality'. Is the landing method inherited from the Samcheok stable temple a unique type of temple? Otherwise, it is a question of whether it has been passed down or is it universal at the national level. However, prior to this essential question, we do not yet know the full picture of the stable landing method. So this article was prepared to show the overall outline of the stable landing method. There is a 'picture' in common throughout the landing method, and understanding how to operate it in various ways is the first step in understanding the landing method. There are five repertoires (which are called main halls) that are considered important, and more than that. What these repertoires have in common is the narrative structure of a Buddhist character. In this narrative, the most important thing is the revised figure, and it was the earthly method to inform the contents of the revised figure in various ways. In the case of Byeonsangdo, which serves as a clue to the narrative, there was a problem that could not be seen in the evening without light, which required special design. It is the way of shadow play and Yeongdeung. In other words, there are three types of performances in the landing method. The first is the method of using reparation, and the second is the method of using shadow. The third is the way of eternity. This method is not a selection based on the contents of the repertoire, but a selection based on the performance environment. If there is light and you can see the picture, use reparation. However, in the evening, it was impossible to see it dark (when there was no electricity in the past). The use of the visual method as a tool in this method is to confirm the transition to a visual culture that is a step further from the level of culture. Moreover, unlike the epic narrative, the power of the implied image provided an opportunity for viewers to experience the mystery of Buddhism through emotional stimulation.
Daseuk Yeungmo Ryu, the author of the most Sijo poems in the history of Korean Literature, and his Sijo poems were once introduced by me. which is a small part of his world of Sijo, though. The goal of this study is, as its succeeding research, to reveal the features of Daseuk's Sijo poems and their significance in detail. There have been not a few poems which accepted religious contents in the history of Korean literature. Especially, Gesong In the Buddhist Zen is a typical example of the encounter between literature and religion. What is more. Buddhism was in alliance with Hyang-go in the Silla dynasty and with Gasa in the Chosun dynasty. Gasa was effectively used in accepting Buddhism as well as Taoism and Catholicism. Sijo has seemed to be farther from religion than Gasa has. However, Daseuk, a renowned religious thinker in the 21st century. expressed his religious ideas in Sijo, which has not been found in the history of Sijo before. Considering Hangeul as a special tool of expression, Daseuk delivered his condensed ideas in poetic dictions in a unique way. Each word in his Sijo poems implies his religious ideas, which are marked in a special transcription. It makes his Sijo difficult to understand. Yeungmo Ryu's Sijo poems should not be left unnoticed just because they are hard to understand but should have follow-up researches so that Daseuk's Sijo, which is the most in number and the most unique in its style, have to be embraced in Korean literature.

The post-preservation features of $\ulcorner$Keumganggyung-samgahae$\lrcorner$ were; total 64 pages and the size being 25.8 cm width 39.4cm of lenght, and 1.9cm of depth.
The aim of this study is to examine various life conditions of actors of Joseon periods in unofficial historical stories. Yadam Literature(Korean unofficial historical stories) had been collected Sadaebu(the past Korean nobility and Confucian intelligentsia) among the people that stories had been handed down orally. and they had been wrote them. So Yadam Literature was heterozygous between the folk culture and the ruling class. And it was mixed and adapted legends and folktales, adding literary imagination. had a decisive role to cultivating novel that owed much to prosaic inspiration during A. D. 18~19. Besides, set a high value on excellent novel itself. Yadam Literature had a verisimilitude because it described a contemporary reality as it was founded on freely prosaic inspiration. In those days, so called Suchok and Seunggwangdae had performed Uhee(a comic theatrical performance) in Joseon periods. Suchok was the lowest class of people and Seunggwangdae was performing Buddhist monk in that time. Uhee had performed three kinds of comedies. One satirized and insinuated kings. Other satirized corrupt officials, too. Another had mimic everything. It is famous at that time as a king knew repertoire. Confucian scholars very were fond of Uhee in those ages. Because they favored a criticism of Uhee's satire. They thought that it gave people good lesson or instruction. Heri Bergson said that comic and Humor included lesson. At that time, those thought were universal in the world whether east or west. At any rate, I classify six kinds of types Uhee in Yadam Literature. First, satirizing and accusing corrupt officials. Second, an actor who use a satire in order to appeal secure a government position of his lord to a king. Third, shamans and actors who use a satire in order to appeal sufferings themselves to a king. Forth, actors and performing Buddhist monks that skillfully mimic anything. Fifth, describing actor's extremely miserable life. Sixth, wit and humor of actors. The contents of Uhee were various. Korean traditional actors adeptly dealt with aspects comic of wit, satire, humor, etc. Sometimes they used changeable transition them. By doing that, a great number of people enjoyed fully the sense of freedom. Korean traditional actors were the lowest class of people. They had lived extremely miserable life. But they had been exist as actions, interactions, and relationship in society those days. they were not only open to people, but also might foster community to peoples.
This study was conducted under the theory of hermitage ever built from buddhist belief. Directing to hermitages within temples of Korea Jogye Order, we focused on the layout correspondence relationship among them. and 161 hermitages were the first object of the investigation. For the accomplishment of the research purpose, the general epitome and spatial specification through various literature studies, on-the-spot survey and personal communications with a lot of priests were made. As one of the basic surveys, the foundation year were thoroughly investigated, followed by the form of building, main buddha and hermitage name. The results obtained were summarized as follows : Forty five hermitages which are equivalent to twenty eight percent of total hermitages within the parish-level temples of Korea Jogye Order, were built in shilla Dynasty and twenty hermitages that are 12.4 percent of the total were constructed in Koryo Dynasty and thirty seven percent of the total were founded during both of dynasties. This fact makes us to consider that many of hermitages in those days were constructed with the simultaneity of principal temple foundation which means hermitage had responded the spirit of the times. Every hermitage has its main Buddha and this thing happened that each hermitage enshrines its main Buddha according to the thought which was developed with the Buddhism expansion and sutra that is in accordance with their own intention. .Basically a capital temple has differed in its central sanctum in accordance with resourceful sutra, and, at the same time, twenty seven in avatamsk sectenshrine for Sakyamuni as their sanction and eight for the Merciful Goddess and 42.7 percent for Chajang's hermitages. The name of hermitage not only represents its symbol but comprises the characteristic meaning of ascetic practice. 31.7 percent of the hermitages studies was found to have the names of relating to 'ascetic practice' or 'thought' followed by the 'nature' or 'environment' to 21.7 percent.
Background The Saam's Acupuncture Method is one of the most widely adopted techniques used by clinicians and educational institutions in Korea today. It is originated in the 17th century from a Buddhist monk known as 'Saam'. The reports on the bibliography. biological responses and therapeutic effects of Saam's Acupuncture method were done but trends on the Saam's Acupuncture method were insufficient. Objectives This study aims to review the bibliography, biological responses and therapeutic effects of Saam's Acupuncture. In the process, this review will grasp trends in this field of studies and will direct further researches into the right direction. Method We searched and investigated th journals supplied by Korean Oriental Medical Society and Je-Han Oriental Medical Academy homepage etc. with the key world 'Saam(사암), jung-geuk(정격), seung-gyuk(승격), han-geuk(한격), yul-geuk(열격)'. Fifty journals were chosen for the review. Result 1. The proportion of basic researches was 10%. The biological responses of Saam's Acupuncture method reveal on blood pressure, regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF). 2. The proportion of literature researches was 48%. The application of Saam's Acupuncture method was many. 3. The proportion of case reports was 26%. Saam's Acupuncture method is applied in the various disease. 4. The proportion of clinical studies was 16%. Clinical studies were increased after the year 2000. Conclusions To elevated quality of studies, we need well-designed experimental methods, efficient secure of experimental groups, appropriate statistical verification, accumulations of knowledges about data research.
This paper attempts to reveal little-known pages from the history of relations between the peoples of Central Asia and Korea based on materials derived from written sources and modern scientific literature, as well as from medieval wall paintings from the early medieval Afrasiab Palace of Varhuman, the ruler of Samarkand, and from stone sculptures of Sogdian figures contained in Silla royal tombs. Korea's interest in the western lands led to its contact with Buddhism, which spread and later flourished in all three Korean kingdoms (Koguryo, Paekche and Silla). The spread of Buddhism in turn motivated a number of Korean monks to undertake pilgrimages to India via Central Asia. Hyecho, a young Silla pilgrim, left evidence of his journey via the South China Sea to India in 723 AD. Paul Pelliot discovered a report from Hyecho's journey entitled Notes on Pilgrimage to Five Regions in India (Wang Wu Tianzhuguo zhuan) in the Dunhuang caves in 1908. Hyecho's contributions are worthy of attention, substantially complementing knowledge available for this little-studied period in the history of South and Central Asia. The information contained in Hyecho's manuscript is, in fact, considered the most significant work of the first half of the 8th century. Research regarding the relationship between Central Asia and Korea remains underdeveloped. Existing historical evidence, however, including the above mentioned Samarkand wall paintings, depicts the visits of two Korean ambassadors to Samarkand, and evidence from Silla tombs suggests the presence of diplomatic relations in addition to trade between the two regions. Overall, the history of the relationship between Central Asia and Korea yields new insights into how and why these distant countries sustained trade and diplomatic and cultural exchange during this early period. Taking into account Korea's growing interest in Uzbekistan, especially in its history and culture, this article can act as a catalyst for studying the history of the two country's relations.

Purpose : In this study, we aimed to explore the concept of chakra in Tibetan medicine, elucidate its unique characteristics, and assess the differences between the Tibetan and Indian chakra systems to enhance the understanding of the Tibetan chakra system. Methods : Here, relevant on Tibetan medicine and chakra system were collected from Google Scholar and Korean Academic Information Databases and meticulously analyzed. Moreover, number of main chakras, characteristics of the five elements, and principles of each chakra system were evaluated. Results : Development and precise location of chakras are extensively detailed in Tibetan medicine, indicating an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the chakra system. The Indian chakra system consists of seven chakras, whereas the Tibetan chakra system is composed of five chakras. Tibetan medicine focuses on three distinct energy elements, Lung, Tripa, and Beken, corresponding to the lower, middle, and upper sections of the body, respectively, with each exhibiting different arrangements and functions for each chakra in the Tibetan chakra system compared to those in the Indian chakra system. Furthermore, Tibetan medicine adheres to Buddhist principles, which attribute diseases to mental causes, thus exhibiting therapeutic potential for psychosomatic illnesses. Conclusion : Owing to the distinct and significant differences between the two chakra systems, the five chakras of the Tibetan system are challenging to conceptualize using the Indian framework of seven chakras. Hence, comprehensive understanding of the Tibetan culture and medicine is necessary to elucidate the Tibetan chakra system. Overall, this study provides compelling evidence for the existence of chakra and highlights the attributes of two key chakra systems, thereby providing valuable insights for energy medicine based on the intricate energy pathways of the body.
