양방향 경계모드 벅/부스트 컨버터의 디지털 제어기법 (Digital Control Techniques for Bidirectional CRM Buck/Boost Converter)

  • This paper presents the digital control techniques of a bidirectional CRM(critical-conduction mode) buck(boost) converter, a dead-time design method that optimizes ZVS(zero-voltage switching) and valley-switching operation, and a switching-frequency limitation that ensures stable converter operation. To verify the feasibility of the design, a Si-MOSFET-based bidirectional CRM buck(boost) converter is built with 260-430 V input, 160-240 V output, and 1.0 kW rated capacity. The bidirectional CRM converter achieves an efficiency of up to 99.6% at buck mode and 98.7% at boost mode under rated load conditions.

  • 비반전 승강압형 토폴로지인 Cascaded Buck-Boost는 크게 Buck단과 Boost단으로 나눌 수 있다. 2상 병렬로 연결되는 Cascaded Buck-Boost 컨버터는 병렬로 연결되는 소자에 따라서 총 3가지의 회로 구성이 가능하며, 제어방법에 따라 1개의 스위치로도 Interleaved 회로처럼 동작이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 각각의 Cascade Buck-Boost 컨버터의 병렬 구성에 따른 입출력 전압비, 전류리플, 시스템 효율 등을 분석한다.

Resonant Parametric Perturbation Method to Control Chaos in Current Mode Controlled DC-DC Buck-Boost Converter

  • Resonant parametric perturbation (RPP) method is an effective non-feedback method for controlling chaos. In this paper, the above method is applied for the current programmed buck-boost dc-dc converter which exhibits chaotic for wide parameter variations. The different possible operating regimes leading to chaotic operation of the current mode controlled buck-boost converter is discussed and the control of chaos by RPP method is demonstrated through computer simulations and experimental studies. The converter is stabilized to period 1 operation practically.

  • This paper proposes a single-phase buck-boost AC-AC converter. It consists of three legs with six switching units (each unit is composed of an active switch and a diode) and its input and output ports share a common ground. It can provide buck-boost voltage operation and immune from shoot-through problem. Since only two switching units are involved in the current paths, the conduction losses are low, which improves the system efficiency. The operation principle of the proposed circuit is firstly presented, and then, various operation conditions are introduced to achieve different output voltages with step-changed frequencies. Additionally, the parameters design and comparative analysis of the power losses are also given. Finally, experimental results verify the correctness of the proposed converter.

  • This paper proposes a two-stage step-down buck and a tapped-inductor boost cascaded converter for high efficiency photovoltaic micro-inverter applications. The proposed inverter is a new structure to inject a rectified sinusoidal current into a low-frequency switching inverter for single-phase grid with unity power factor. To build a rectified-waveform of the output current. the converter employs both of a high efficiency step-up and a step-down converter in cascade. In step-down mode, tapped inductor(TI) boost converter stops and the buck converter operates alone. In boost mode, the TI converter operates with the halt of buck operation. The converter provides a rectified current to low frequency inverter, then the inverter converts the current into a unity power-factor sinusoidal waveform. By applying a TI, the converter can decrease the turn-on ratios of the main switch in TI boost converter even with an extreme step-up operation. The performance validation of the proposed design is confirmed by an experimental results of a 120W hardware prototype.

Transient Current Suppression Scheme for Bi-Directional DC/DC Converters in 42V Automotive Power Systems

  • 42V electrical power systems are on their way to replacing the present l4V systems in automobiles and 42V/14V dual voltage systems have been proposed to provide backward compatibility with the existing components for the 14V systems. A synchronous buck/boost converter is an attractive topology for 42V/14V dual voltage systems since it offers the possibility of bi-directional operation without additional components. In this paper, transient currents generated during converter startup or changes in operation modes between buck and boost are analyzed and a cost effective solution to remove the transient currents is proposed. The validity of the proposed control strategy is investigated through simulation and experiment with bi-directional converters.

  • 본 논문에서는 능동 클램프 풀브릿지 Boost 컨버터에 관한 DC 모델링과 AC 모델링 과정에 대하여 기술한다. 동작 원리로부터 이 컨버터의 교류 부분을 등가의 직류 부분으로 바꾸고 반도체 스위치를 재배치하여 개념적인 등가 회로가 유도된다. 유도된 등가회로는 CCM(Continuous conduction mode) Boost 컨버터와 DCM(Discontinuous conduction mode) Buck 컨버터로 표현된다. 유도된 등가회로의 각 스위치 부분을 PWM 스위치 모델로 대체하여 DC 모델 및 AC 모델이 완성된다. 이론적인 DC 및 AC 모델링 결과는 실험이나 SIMPLIS 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증된다.

  • In the buck-boost DC-DC converter which is used at a certain situation such as in factories where loads often change a lot, the switches in the device make big energy loss in operating at Buck-Boost Mode due to hard switching and are affected by lots of stresses which decrease the efficiency rate of the converter. In order to improve this problem, to decrease the loss of snubber and switching, it has been investigated that zero voltage switching mode and zero current switching mode which make the operation of switches with soft switching. For the more sophisticated and advanced device, this paper is presented the Partial Resonant Soft Switching Mode Power Converter which is adapted the power converter having the partial resonant soft switching mode, that makes switches operate when the resonant current or voltage becomes zero by making the resonant circuit partially at turning on and off of the switches with suitable layout of the resonant elements and switch elements in the converter. Also, this paper includes the analysis and simulation of the Partial Resonant type Buck-Boost Chopper.

  • Three phase Boost/Buck converter which have economical merits and simple control scheme, are analyzed and evaluated through comparative methods and digital simulation for equivalent load. Those play a part of voltage boost/buck as well as power factor correction with single switch. Controller operating in constant and variable frequency is used for rapid output response and stable system condition respectively. Moreover low THD property of single switched converters is available for inverter arc welding machine known as high power and low power factor. So, in this paper a comparison of the characteristics in boost and buck converter is described and then simulation results conforms the merits from point of view of power factor and voltage regulator.

  • 저궤도 인공위성에 사용되는 태양전력 조절기는 태양전지의 영향으로 일반적인 DC-DC 컨버터와는 다른 소신호 특성을 갖는다. 이로 인하여 벅-부스트 형 태양전력 조절기는 태양전지의 전류원 영역에서 평균전류모드제어가 불가능하다. 이 논문에서는 벅-부스트 형 태양전력 조절기를 의사-연속전류모드로 동작시켜 태양전지의 전 영역에서 태양전력조절기를 평균전류모드 단일 제어한다. 우선 의사-연속전류모드 벅-부스트 형 태양전력 조절기의 회로 동작을 설명하고, 소신호 전달함수를 구하고 이를 바탕으로 평균전류모드제어기를 구성한다. 최종적으로 모의실험을 통하여 의사-연속전류모드 벅-부스트 형 태양전력 조절기의 평균모드제어를 검증한다.
