Assessment of the Effectiveness of Biofeedback Therapy in Children with Pelvic Floor Dyssynergia (소아 골반저 근실조에서 바이오피드백 치료의 유용성)

  • Purpose: Recently well-developed anorectal function tests have revealed that there is an obvious pelvic floor dyssynergia (PFD) pattern in pediatric patients with constipation, as well as in adult's. The use of biofeedback therapy (BT) has been widely implemented in adult PFD patients; however, this approach has only rarely been considered for pediatric PFD patients. Therefore, we assessed the effectiveness of BT in children with PFD. Methods: We studied 70 children with PFD, who were referred to the department of pediatrics at the Asan Medical Center for the management of soiling or chronic constipation from September 2002 to February 2005. Diagnosis of PFD and assessment of the efficacy of BT for PFD treatment were carried out along with several ano-rectal function tests (cine-defecography, ano-rectal manometry, balloon expulsion test and intra-anal EMG); in addition, a questionnaire was administered. The BT based intra-anal EMG was performed. A follow-up telephone interview was performed more than 6 months later. Results: Most of the symptoms and results of the ano-rectal function tests were statistically improved after BT. In comparisons between the BT and control groups (BT refusal group due to poor compliance), the symptoms were statistically improved at follow-up. Therefore, for the shortterm improvement of symptoms, BT was better than conservative therapy alone. The negative feelings associated with ano-rectal function testing and BT were directly associated with failure or success of therapy. Conclusion: Pediatric patients with constipation or soiling that presented with an obvious PFD pattern showed that BT was a useful therapeutic tool for rapid improvement of symptoms.

Preparation of PMN-PT-BT/Ag/MgO Nanocomposite and Dielectric Properties (PMN-PT-BT/Ag/MgO 나노복합체의 제조 및 유전 특성)

  • Nanocomposite PMN-PT-BT/Ag/MgO was prepared by sintering at $950{\circ}C$ with addition of $AgNO_3$ and MgO sol to the PMN-PT-BT powder sinterable at $1200{\circ}C$. The low-temperature-sinterable PMN-PT-BT/Ag powder prepared by the modified mixed oxide method was calcined at $600{\circ}C$ for 1h and surface modified with the MgO sol of 0-10 wt% and then subjected to consolidation at $850-950{\circ}C$ for 4h under a flowing oxygen. The nanocomposite PMN-PT-BT/Ag/MgO(0.5wt%) sintered at $950{\circ}C$ showed the microstructure with grains of $1-3{\mu}m$, the second phase of MgO of $0.1-0.3{\mu}m$ by SEM and Ag of << $1{\mu}m$ qualitatively by SIMS. It showed the sintered relative density of 99%, the room temperature dielectric constant of 17200, the dielectric loss of 2.1% and the specific resistivity of $5.46{\times}10^{12}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$. But the PMN-PT-BT/Ag/MgO(0 wt%) nanocomposite sintered at $950{\circ}C$ showed a little better properties : the sintered relative density of 99.5%, the room temperature dielectric constant of 19500, the dielectric loss of 2.1% and the specific resistivity of $7.30{\times}10^{12}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$.

Discovering Interdisciplinary Convergence Technologies Using Content Analysis Technique Based on Topic Modeling (토픽 모델링 기반 내용 분석을 통한 학제 간 융합기술 도출 방법)

  • The objectives of this study is to present a discovering process of interdisciplinary convergence technology using text mining of big data. For the convergence research of biotechnology(BT) and information communications technology (ICT), the following processes were performed. (1) Collecting sufficient meta data of research articles based on BT terminology list. (2) Generating intellectual structure of emerging technologies by using a Pathfinder network scaling algorithm. (3) Analyzing contents with topic modeling. Next three steps were also used to derive items of BT-ICT convergence technology. (4) Expanding BT terminology list into superior concepts of technology to obtain ICT-related information from BT. (5) Automatically collecting meta data of research articles of two fields by using OpenAPI service. (6) Analyzing contents of BT-ICT topic models. Our study proclaims the following findings. Firstly, terminology list can be an important knowledge base for discovering convergence technologies. Secondly, the analysis of a large quantity of literature requires text mining that facilitates the analysis by reducing the dimension of the data. The methodology we suggest here to process and analyze data is efficient to discover technologies with high possibility of interdisciplinary convergence.

Effect of Water Back-flushing Time and Polypropylene Beads in Hybrid Water Treatment Process of Photocatalyst-coated PP Beads and Alumina Microfiltration Membrane (광촉매 코팅 폴리프로필렌(PP) 비드와 알루미나 정밀여과막의 혼성 수처리 공정에서 물역세척 시간 및 PP 비드의 영향)

  • The effects of water back-flushing time (BT) and photocatalyst-coated polypropylene (PP) beads were investigated in hybrid water treatment process of alumina microfiltration and the PP beads in this study, and compared with the previous study with alumina ultrafiltration membrane and the same PP beads. The BT was changed in the range of 6~30 s with fixed 10 min of back-flushing period (FT). Then, the BT effects on resistance of membrane fouling ($R_f$), permeate flux (J) and total permeate volume ($V_T$) were observed during total filtration time of 180 min. As longer BT, $R_f$ decreased and J increased dramatically; however, $V_T$ was the maximum at BT 10 s. The treatment efficiency of turbidity was high beyond 99.0%, and the BT effect was not shown. The treatment efficiency of organic matters was the highest value of 89.0% at no back-flushing (NBF), and increased as longer BT. The optimum input concentration of the PP beads was 20 g/L in the viewpoint of membrane fouling; however, the optimum PP beads of the previous study was 40 g/L. The treatment efficiency of turbidity and organic matters were the maximum at 30 g/L of the PP beads; however, those of the previous study with alumina ultrafiltration membrane and the same PP beads were the highest at 40 g/L.

A Study on Automated Bluetooth Communication Testing Methods Using CSR8670 Chip

  • Bluetooth technology(BT) is a standard for short distance wireless communication and widely used to connect and control various electronic and telecommunication devices without wires, where CSR8670 chip is generally adopted. These BT devices are required to comply with BT specification and the equipments for conformance test are also important. However, the existing BT testing methods have inconvenience in that they are mostly time-consuming procedure due to not only repetitive execution for each evaluation element but also error-prone nature of manual experiments. This paper proposes an automated BT communication test method using CSR8670 chip, which solves the problems related to manual testing methods. The proposed method can reduce the development period of BT products and guarantee the quality improvement owing to the exact system error detection capability.

  • 전체적으로 우리나라의 IT-BT-NT 융합기술에 대해 융합기술 개발이 미래의 성장동력 창출에 매우 중요함에도 불구하고 융합기술 개발면에서 IT - BT 는 선진국에 비해 $65{\sim}80%$, NT-BT는 $65{\sim}65%$, IT-NT는 $50{\sim}80%$로 열세를 보이고 있다. 그러므로 융합기술개발에 기반한 신산업 육성을 위해서는 먼저 정부측에서 연구개발 예산의 확대와 자금지원, 종합적인 융합기술개발전략의 수립, 관련부처간 역할분담과 조정, 법 제도 정비 및 역기능 방지대책의 마련이 필요하다.

  • To prevent appearance of resistant mosquitoes against $\delta$-endotoxin of bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis (Bti) in field, a mosquitocidal Bacillus thuringiensis strain 21-2(Bt21-2) producing a new type of $\delta$-endotoxin was isolated. The strain Bt 21-2 belongs to H serotype 43, B. thuringiensis subsp. guiyangiensis (Btg). The $\delta$-endotoxins from the strain Bt 21-2 and the strain Bti were a cuboid shape morphologically, but the $\delta$-endotoxin of the strain Bt 21-2 was composed of 150, 90 and 70kDa proteins on SDS-PAGE, and the antigenicity of $\delta$-endotoxin of the strain Bt 21-2 was different from that of the strain Bti on immunoblot. The $\delta$-endotoxin gene of the strain Bt 21-2 was not amplified with specific primers of $\delta$-endotoxin gene (cry4A and cry4B) of the strain Bti on PCR.

Piezoelectric properties of NKN-BT ceramics with various sintering temperature (소결 온도에 따른 NKN-BT 세라믹스의 압전 특성)

  • In this study, piezoelectric properties of NKN-BT ceramics with various sintering temperature were investigated. The NKN-BT ceramics were fabricated by physicochemical method and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The structural and dielectric properties of doped BT solution on the NKN ceramics were investigated. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of NKN-BT ceramics sintered at $1130^{\circ}C$ was 2321 and 0.35, respectively.

  • 영국 BT의 모든 도매 xDSL 상품은 'end-to-end' 방식으로만 제공되고 있는데 이것이 OLO에게 있어서는 자신의 망을 사용하는데 범위를 제약하기 때문에, OLO들은 BT 망과의 상호접속을 통하여 가능하면 자신의 망으로 대체할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고 그들 최종이용자의 트래픽을 전송하기 위하여 BT의 ATM 망의 ATM 교환기에서의 상호접속을 요청하게 되었다. 이에 따라 Oftel은 OLO의 요구사항을 검토한 결과, 요청 상호접속서비스가 BT의 기존 도매 DSL 상품과 상응하지 않기 때문에 이는 BT가 제공하여야 한 새로운 형태의 상호접속 서비스라고 규정하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 기존 사업자인 BT의 데이터 망 구성과 제공 상품 내용, OLO의 상호접속 요청서비스에 대한 개념과 의미, 그리고 Oftel의 최종 결정사항의 주요 내용을 살펴됨으로써, 신규 상호접속서비스 규정에 대한 Oftel의 접근 방식과 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.

Evaluation of Dietary Lipid Sources for Juvenile Abalone (Haliotis disucs hannai) (참전복 치패 사료의 지질원 평가)

  • Three feeding experiments were carried out to evaluate the effects of fatty acids or lipid sources in diets on the survival, growth and body composition of junenile abalone(Haliotis discus hannai). Diets used in this study contained casein or fish meal as a protein source. Three replicate groups of abalone averaging 160 mg were fed with casein diets containing 12:0, 18:1, 18:2n-6, 18:3n-3, n-3HUFA, squid liver oil (SO), corn oil (CO), beef tallow (BT), SO+CO, and SO+BT, or fed fish meal diets containing SO, CO, BT, SO+CO, SO+BT and not supplemental oil for 20 weeks, respectively. Survival rate, weight gain and soft body weight of abalone were not significantly affected by different fatty acids in the casein diets (P>0.05). Weight gain, soft body weight and shell length of abalone fed the casein diets containing SO, SO+CO or SO+BT were significantly higher (P<0.05) than those of abalone fed the casein diets containing CO or BT. Survival rate of abalone fed the fish meal diets was not influenced by different lipid sources (P>0.05). Weight gain and soft body weight of abalone fed the fish meal diets containing beef tallow (BT or SO+BT diet) were lower than those of abalone fed the diet not added oil or diets containing SO, CO and/or SO+CO(P<0.05). These data indicated that SO or SO+CO was good dietary lipid source for juvenile abalone, and that these oil supplement in diet was not necessary when fish meal was used as a protein source.
