The PSO-PID Speed Controller Design for the BLDC Motor (BLDC 모터를 위한 PSO-PID 속도 제어기 설계)

  • Brushless DC motors applied in many control systems because of the good respose characteristic and the easy control characteristic. The speed control of the BLDC motors is important in the systems. This paper has designed PSO-PID speed controller for the speed control of BLDC motors. The PSO algorithm optimized the parameters of the PID controller in the PSO-PID speed controller. The several methods obtained the optimal inertia weight of the PSO algorithm by comparison. The optimal inertia weight of the PSO algorithm optimized the PSO-PID speed controller for BLDC motors. This paper confirmed the performance of proposed PSO-PID speed controller through simulation results.

  • This paper proposes an early diagnosis technique for the stator-turn fault (STF) in an interior permanent magnet (IPM)-type brushless DC (BLDC) motor using the impedance parameter. We have analyzed the varying characteristics owing to the STF through various experiments and the finite element method (FEM). As a result, we have presented a simple method for fault detection. This technique can be applied without requiring a fast Fourier transform (FFT) and the calculation of the negative-sequence impedance. The fault detection system works on the basis of the comparison the measured impedance with the database impedance. The variations in the characteristics owing to the STF as well as the proposed technique have been verified through the simulation and experiment.

  • The sensorless speed control technique for BLDCM using digital IP control is proposed in this paper for advanced speed characteristic which is robust for loads. The sensorless drive of BLDCM using terminal voltages is affected by load or speed because it uses analog filters to estimate the rotor position. For this reason, the robust speed controller with the accurate rotor position estimator is needed for sensorless control which is robust to load and insensitive to motor parameters. The constant speeds robust to load variation and the stable sensorless control of BLDCM robust to the increase or decrease of speed with constant load are implemented using digital IP control in this paper. The validity to these is established with experimentation.

  • This paper develops a sensorless BLDCM drive for frequently startup. The position information is based on detecting the zero-crossing point of the BEMF that can be directly obtained from the terminal voltage of the floating phase without voltage-dividing and filtering. As a result, this approach makes it possible to detect the rotor position over a wide speed range, especially at a lower speed. A fast startup procedure is also discussed because the induced BEMF signals are not present when motor is at rest. Experimental results shows that the schemes implemented are feasible and the performance achieved are satisfactory.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of current harmonics and torque ripple of Brushless DC motor, which is developed the fan blower of vehicles, according to permanent magnet shape input voltage wave form. To investigate the torque ripple and the phase current harmonics, these characteristics is analysed and compared the experimental results. In the process of analysis, FEM is introduced and computed a transient state torque of BLDC with a sinusoidal and a PWM wave voltage.

  • This paper proposes a sensorless control method of BLDC motors using line-to-line back-EMFs. Typical sensorless control methods have various problems such as the difficulty in operation at low speed and difficulties in application and so forth. However, the control method using line-to-line back-EMFs that this paper proposes solved not only such problems but also problems of noise and difficulty of commutation detection. The method is to divide line-to-line back EMF into the constant. With 550[W] BLDC motor driving system, simulations and experiments have been carried out for the verification of the proposed control method.

  • In this paper, a chattering alleviation ISM speed controller for the sinusoidal type BIDC motor is designed. Dead Zone function is proposed to change the chattering occurring in the transient state form high frequency to low frequency and time-varying gains are applied for the control input to eliminate the steady state excessive chattering in the conventional ISM. The proposed Dead Zone function represents the sliding layer composed of two switching surfaces and if a state vector exists in this layer, the chattering don’t occur. Simulation and experimental results confirm the useful effects of the above algorithm.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of a brushless DC motor(BLDC) keeping the average torque and cogging torque of the initial model while minimizing the volume of magnet pole. Experimental design method and evolution strategy technique are performed for the shape optimization. The presented optimal designs show the both methods have the almost same result.

  • 본 논문에서는 전동차용 전기식 플러그인 도어를 구동하기 위해 영구자석형 무정류자 직류전동기(Brushless DC Motor)를 적용하였다. BLDC 전동기의 속도제어를 위해 사용되어지는 홀센서 신호를 속도제어로만 사용하는 것이 아니라 이러한 홀센서 파형을 검출, 위치제어를 위한 신호로 활용하였으며 실제로 도어시스템에 적용, 실험하여 그 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • This paper is analyzed the characteristic of multi-phase inverter for the electric propulsion system. Two BLDC motors with 3 and 7 phases are designed with these features in order to simulate the effect of increasing the number of phases. From the simulation results, the 7-phase given better performance in terms of torque pulsation. Also, the torque pulsation can be reduced further by increasing the number of phases.
